Blue Escape

Blue Escape was one of the first paintings I had completed in my “Textured Acrylic” style. This was also the first painting where I had used my signature aluminum brushed frame. This is a painting you must see in person to get a feel for the relief and texture. Blue Escape has a lot of depth and a deep rich monochromatic blue palette. It measures 3 feet X 3 feet.

I’ve always found Any Wharhol’s Art very interesting and unique, especially his imagery of Marilyn Monroe. I thought I’d take a stab at creating my very own versions of Marilyn Monroe in my style. From this digital illustration I created 4 unique sharpie illustrations. I really enjoy creating something digitally and then turning around a producing a painting or sharpie illustration from the digital image. I’m working on a collection of digital illustrations I soon will be making prints of and selling, be on the look out.

I was approached by my good friend Jess to create a work of art for her to give away as a wedding present. I worked up some comps on the computer and got the design approved. I broke out the black sharpies and paint and got busy. The end result was a success, so Jess tells me.

Splat

We (my family) had been on a really long drive and I kept looking at how the bugs would splatter on the windshield. And since I usually always look at everything in some sort of creative scope, I imagined a these mutilated bugs as works of art. Yes, strange I know. Why would anyone see splattered bugs on a windshield as art, but I do. It’s my curse and blessing.
