After a long search, I found it: “If you run a VM inside a VM inside a VM inside a VM, everything will be very slow” (via @mytz) ;-)

But the flying experience is something that may scare you away. In-transparent ticket prices (typically not flexible and with 5 unmentioned service charges), long expensive transport to the airports, huge waiting lines for check-ins (if you have luggage), annoying security checks (sir, please put your shoes off… why??), lost time waiting for boarding then taking off, noisy neighbors, no space, no normal food or drinks (i have never seen such small portions of drinks or chips) etc etc..

It is a unique example where an industry managed to destroy the experience to such a level, where people would partially prefer a train of 7 hours over a short flight of 45 minutes just to avoid the stress.

When it comes to internet, there are typically following 3 parties involved:

• Internet Service Provider (securing the infrastructure and access for users and publishers)
• Content Provider (providing the content)
• Users (paying for the internet access and consuming the content)

What is the issue?

Content Provider achieved to capture the vast majority of the value through clever business models (mostly based on advertising), but experience extreme competitive pressure through “everything for free” mentality which was established during the dot com boom among users.

Internet Service Provider on the other hand experienced a massive decline of their revenues (and profits) in the last years given increased costs through exponentially higher bandwidth and traffic while decreasing tariffs (through introduction of flat rates and low-cost competition).

A natural result is a shakeout of weak players, a market concentration and a stronger desire to capture even more value.

While Content Providers are relatively flexible in terms of business model (they can introduce subscriptions, mobile versions, affiliate partnerships, offline activities etc), ISPs are rather in a dead-end street. They tried to extend their offer through triple-play offers (internet, TV, mobile), but remained pushed to a niche of commodity products with very small possibility of differentiation – where the price decides everything.

And now – ISPs are trying to break free – their only chance is to change the rules of the game. What can they do?

1. They could enter the content business by offering own websites – but they are not as competitive given lack of know-how and resources.
2. They could ask users to pay more – hmm… :-) while internet access became commodity, they could artificially add value to their current offer, for example by offering faster access to certain highly popular websites such as facebook, youtube, google etc.
3. They could ask content providers to pay more – hmm… :-) while traffic became commodity, they could artificially add value to their current offer, for example by prioritizing of certain traffic.

Those last 2 alternatives sound like a hidden price cartel which would increase the tariffs – what is not far from reality, while the consequences are much more significant than just price increases.

Internet access is a regional business (independent whether mobile or fixed) and through market concentration there are a lot of oligopolies out there. In addition, there are also many integrated ISPs with one leg in the content business.

So imagine now a scenario, where e.g. France Telecom would prioritize the access to its own video website, so that all the content is loaded within seconds – while for example access to youtube.com would be degraded to slowly and unusable. Logical result – the market share of youtube.com would go significantly down. Except… Google agrees to pay a premium fee to be also prioritized. If Google would not agree to pay – they could lose 40% of its users in France (who have France Telecom as their internet access operator). And if Google agrees to pay – other video websites would be in serious disadvantage. So what could those do? Correct – they would have to pay as well to stay competitive. Other ISPs would be stupid not to jump on the same train, by making the same conditions and establish an additional significant revenue stream.

And towards the end-users the principle would be similar as it is already the case with cable operators. A client would need to book an extra option which would allow him to access e.g. youtube.com in a fast way.

What does it mean for us?

1. Internet access would be more expensive – excluding low income persons and cutting them off from modern technologies even more.
2. Content market would get even more concentrated – only the big players would survive, reducing competition.
3. Entry barriers for new start-ups would increase artificially – limiting innovation and competition.
4. Through higher operating costs, free content would become more rare – limiting choice and attractiveness of the internet.

Sounds like a really worst case, isn’t it?

In reality – I see the presumption that our today’s internet is neutral nothing more than an illusion.

ISPs are already prioritizing different content. Own video and VoIP services have always priority over normal websites thanks to QoS (Quality of Service). (I)llegal P2P traffic is already limited or even blocked. Free VoIP services such as Skype are also partially blocked (especially on mobile data) with excuses of net stability etc. In terms of charges, ISPs are already earning nice revenues by offering unlimited bandwidth for its own B2B clients which use their datacenters, while limiting access from external low-cost networks (sometimes even tier 1).

Take aways:

• Internet’s neutrality is a clear illusion, if taking into account that it was already always controlled by large corporations (both access and content).
• Attempts of ISPs to change the rules by becoming a gate control – could create more than just a temporary price increase. But rather a paradigm shift, from internet being a battleground where the best concept and content wins into an oligopoly with large corporations dividing the market among themselves.

Solution:

I have my doubts that this development can be prevented (on the mid-term) through governmental control. I rather believe in the force of users and new innovative open technologies which would counterpart any “walled garden”.  At the same time net neutrality from the technical point of view is impossible to establish anyway, a company whose servers are better connected will be faster by definition and a law ruling can not solve this situation. Web 2.0. demonstrated that internet users evolved and are not passive “lean back” content consumers anymore, but active contributors who would not accept change in game rules with such negative impact, but rather penalize those who try to establish it.

Key barriers until now:

1. Price: As happened to mobile internet in the past, it did not pick up until the prices went down. Today mobile operators ask you to pay an astronomic price premium for every video call minute (independent of the costs linked to the purchase of capable device)
2. Quality: The mobile video experience is in most cases a disaster. It is often linked to a poor camera quality, a tiny display, slow connection or an inefficient video format
3. Standards: Every video call solution is using its own standard. Nothing is compatible to each other. Nokia & Co tried to create something through 3GPP collaboration, but it is only a mobile phone specific approach – all internet users are excluded! Try to make a video call from a Mac to PC! Yes, there is Skype – but common, it is a closed limited format (HD only for few sponsored camera types) and you depend on the willingness of a single company to drive development further.
4. Usage: People are not used to see each other while talking remotely. It is not something we ever had, or ever missed. It is a sci-fi goody we saw once in a movie. For certain situations a video transmission is even not wanted. Somebody has to come and explain us first at which occasions it would make sense and shake up the industry …

… and this somebody seems to be Apple (again) with its new iPhone 4

These guys are serious when they focus on a topic. And they are specialists in creating new markets. So let’s look in detail how do they address every of the mentioned issues.

Apple’s answer: FaceTime

1. Price: Video call functionality is already integrated into the new iPhone 4. No addition usage costs per minute occur (in case of a data flat tariff)
2. Quality: Thanks to the modern H.264 video format, a speedy hardware and a good camera, you can expect an acceptable fluent video and an excellent sound quality (as first testers note).
3. Standards: Apple announced “FaceTime” to be an open standard which is based on H.264, AAC, SIP, STUN, TURN, ICE, RTP, and SRTP. Developers of mobile phones, computer software  will have the possibility to connect with FaceTime users.
4. Usage: Apple has a strong track record for telling people what they should do. Apple is a trend-setter for lifestyle goods. Video calls are clearly market push where consumers realize that they need it once they have tried it.

Wait a second – all this technology already exists for years. There are at least 30 Nokia mobiles with a front-facing camera. Where exactly is the revolution?

There is no revolution – it is rather a video call “reloaded”. Apple’s fundamental success is linked to its capability to create a unique bundle of hardware and software, which results in a perfect user experience. And this is what counts. You add a little marketing hype, attach it to a highly popular device – and the let some time pass.

You can be sure that FaceTime is just the start. If it really takes off, the following steps are just a matter of months:

• iChat (Mac OSX) integration so that millions of Mac users can video talk with mobile iPhone users (given the HD webcam which is integrated into all modern Apple laptops)
• Skype (Windows, Linux, etc.) interoperability… which would open access to >500 million users worldwide (accounting today for over 10% of international call volumes)
• Android / Windows Mobile 7 interoperability – thanks to the open standard, any kind of applications on devices with front-face camera could communicate with each other
• Enterprise usage – new features such as conferences, integration with calendars, invitations, encryption and many other
• 3G usage – today FaceTime is limited only to WiFi mainly due to bandwidth reasons, but with increasing performance of mobile networks – this limitation is expected to be dropped soon and allow a total mobility when using video calls

So should we be excited? Oh yes! :-) Apple’s move is an impulse for the whole telecommunication industry, which will create more innovations from Google, Microsoft, HTC, Nokia, Samsung, Skype and many more… I am curious to make my first video call while walking somewhere in the mountains and video calling with somebody thousands miles away…

Cars of the future

The concept of a future car is changing much faster than before. New engine technologies (hybrid or electric), new designs / materials, new car types (e.g. X1, X6 etc) and muuch more intelligent (security systems, entertainment and assistance).

I don’t think that we will suddenly see all those new things in all the segments, but first really nice examples will be available for trying out. BMW showed with their GINA concept (see video) that there is so much more room for innovations than just the typical evolution “a little bigger, a little faster, a little less consumption”

3D ready

3D movies are coming, but why now (?). IMAX exists since more than 30 years ! Answer is simple: the content was missing. Next year, media and consumer electronics companies will push the 3D topic as much as they can. Will we buy again a new TV ? Not next year. But you can be sure, that many cinemas will upgrade their systems to be able to show off the newest 3D movies such as Avatar. Although with the World Cup they may have a chance to use it as an advertising feature.

3D is the new HD! Everything will be 3D, TV sets, Digicams, screens in general.. I see it already coming the label “3D ready”. At the same time, we will see old movies and blockbusters getting a 3D remake – I bet to see a 3D Homer as well.

Cloud computing

History is repeating, but this time the technology is much further (internet is faster, mobile, cheaper and hardware is more mobile). Google will declare 2010 as start of a cloud computing era. Applications are running online and we just see the output on our web browser screens. Google is not completely alone, even Microsoft recognized the trend and will offer an online version of Office 2010.

I am not buying the complete move towards online trend at all (Network Computer or the Google Chrome OS hype). What will work is some else: a hybrid model of desktop software with some useful online sharing and collaboration tools (such as Office 2010). Another interesting concept would be interesting for mobile devices, where calculation intensive operations are performed in the “cloud” and the interface is client-based.

Tablet computer

Apple will show us next year that we need a Tablet computer. It is slim, nice looking and expensive. Probably with an adapted OSX and an own App-Store. I think if it comes, it will be a bomb. Following picture:

For productivity at home and in the office you use a desktop device or a laptop. For mobile needs, you have a smartphone. And if you want to relax at home or while travelling (hotel, train, beach), to read a book (!), newspaper, any websites, play a game, watch a movie, check some information etc – you use a tablet computer.

You can imagine, that first Apple will show one, then with a certain delay an asian company such as Acer, then Dell and finally HP. Everything with Windows 7 (a very nice OS, but the number of adapted apps will be crucial).

What else…

• Crisis will strike again where the first subsidies finish, only starting the second half of the year there is hope for a real re bounce
• Facebook will get a place at the NASDAQ
• Google will buy Twitter, enter the voice, netbook and OS business and get its first big anti-trust case
• Microsoft’s Bing will merge with Yahoo and reach the 20% wordwide share
• Apple will introduce a refreshed iPhone with 64 GB, more sensors and make life harder for the jailbreak friends
• VCs will finally get their pay-off through major exits; FB and iPhone apps projects will dominate the funding rankings
• Chinese industry will continue growing at 13%, despite the massive US debt US$ will reach parity with the EUR, oil will get over 100 US$ again and gold will slowly touch 1500 US$ levels

2010 we are coming!! :-)

Krise

2009 ist das eigentliche Krisenjahr gewesen. Während am Anfang des Jahres noch niemand wusste was in der Folgewoche passiert – verbesserte sich langsam die Situation – so versuchten zumindest die Medien es uns beizubringen. Was stimmt nun?

Die Welt verändert sich, insbesondere durch Länder wie China kommen mehr als eine Milliarde neuer Konsumenten in den Markt. Es wäre irrational anzunehmen, dass alles bliebe beim Alten. Während Europa und USA, kaum noch Wachstum aufweisen – explodieren gewisse asiatische Regionen. Die Finanzkrise ist eine Nebenblase die unsere Realwirtschaft zwar durch ihr Platzen getroffen hat, aber die eigentlichen grossen Veränderungen kommen erst noch.

Es geht nicht darum, dass die jetzige Situation gut oder schlecht ist – und durch das Auffinden der Schuldigen, alles wieder in Ordnung sei. Es muss vielmehr jedes Unternehmen für sich analysieren, ob es wirklich für die neuen Trends vorbereitet ist. Krisen kommen immer wieder, aber die globalen Trends sind auf eine sehr viel längere Sicht deutlich gravierender.

Neue grüne Welt

Es geht gar nicht um die Substanz der Diskussion, sondern vielmehr um das Timing (warum auf einmal jetzt?) und die Perspektive (Suche nach den Schuldigen statt der Lösung) auf das ganze Problem der neuen grünen Zukunft. George Carlin hat einen sehr interessanten Satz gesagt: “Our planet earth is just fine, we are the ones who are f***** up”. Damit meint er, dass der Kampf um die Erde zu retten eigentlich ziemlich egoistisch ist. Was nicht bedeutet, dass man diesen nicht führen soll, sondern dass man aufhören soll – alle Bemühungen als solche darzustellen als hätten alle Politiker plötzlich ein Herz für Tiere entdeckt. Vielmehr geht es darum, dass Industrie- und Wachstumsnationen (USA, China etc) auf Kosten der kleineren (Umweltkosten) sich weiter bereichern. Diese kleineren meist Entwicklungsländer sehen sich mit Folgekosten konfrontiert (durch Klimakatastrophen etc) und möchten nun Gerechtigkeit (Entschädigungszahlungen etc). Die Industriestaaten haben aufgrund der Finanzkrise auch so schon genug zu tun – und schieben den Prozess in die Länge.

Genau diese Diskussion beschäftigte uns im Jahr 2009. Bloss gibt es eigentlich kaum Menschen die gegen den Umweltschutz sind. Jedoch eine ganze Reihe Gegner der vorgeschlagenen Massnahmen – die meistens darin bestehen höhere Kosten im Alltag zu erzeugen (ohne wahrnehmbaren Mehrwert).

Wo bist Du? Bitte in Realtime

Alles fing mit Blogs an. Eine Art Internet-Tagebuch mit wenigen Klicks, paar Bilder da, paar Meinungen hier – und ein Blog war geboren. Wenige Zeit später kam jemand auf die Idee, dass man die Barriere fürs Publizieren noch weiter senken könnte – z.B. auf lediglich 160 Zeichen und keinerlei inhaltlichen Anspruch – Twitter war geboren.

Zunächst wurde es ausgelacht – mal im Ernst, wen interessiert es was ich gerade mache?? Später kam jedoch der Reiz, Teil eines grossen und dynamischen (!) Informationsbeckens zu sein. Alles ist in Echtzeit. Wenn also etwas auf der Welt passiert, dann eilen Nutzer es per Twitter zu kommunizieren um sich als eine Art Informations-Pioniere zu fühlen.

Erst vor wenigen Tagen ist ein neuer Dienst erschien, wo man seine Kreditkartenausgaben ebenfalls per Twitter an alle seine “Freunde” kommunizieren könnte… Kein Kommentar.

2009 zeichnete sich dadurch aus, dass Menschen ihre Grenzen des Informationsbedarfs austesteten. Welche Informationen, wie schnell und in welcher Form möchte ich wirklich konsumieren und von sich weitergeben. Es war definitiv ein Jahr wo man extrem viele Informationen in Realtime zu jedem Quatsch bekommen könnte. Ob es produktiv ist und tatsächlich auch in Zukunft ihre Nachfrage findet – bleibt abzuwarten.

Eine App für Jeden!

Hast Du auch eine App fürs iPhone? Anfang 2000 war die Frage eher – hast Du auch eine Website im Internet? Es war teuer, keiner hat so richtig den Sinn verstanden und eine kleine Minderheit hat damit massiv viel Geld verdient. So in etwa ist es auch mit den Apps – fürs iPhone, mittlerweile auch noch für Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile etc.

Was ist so neu und toll an all dem Apps Hype? Nun – kleine Programme für Handys existieren schon seit es mobile Telefone gibt. Apple war ein Pionier, alle angebotenen Programme über eine zentrale Plattform anzubieten. Ein Nutzer kann mit wenigen Klicks ein neues Programm installieren (oft auch kostenfrei) und die Entwickler können mit relativ kleinem Aufwand ihr Werk bei Apple veröffentlichen und sich nur noch ums Marketing zu kümmern (Apple macht den Rest: Payment, Hosting, Shop etc). Geniales Konzept und geniale Umsetzung. Wo viel Geld im Spiel ist, gibt es natürlich auch etwas Stress – in diesem Fall war es die ewige Diskussion warum Apple gewisse Apps nicht zulässt. Nun – ein wenig Monopolist spielen, will schliesslich jeder.

Da hat es nicht lange gedauert bis die Copy-Cats gekommen sind: Microsoft, Blackberry, Palm etc mit ihren eigenen App-Stores. Ist ein Zeichen, dass es wohl funktioniert.

Dabei ist das App-Store Konzept kein Hype des Jahres 2009, sondern eine wirklich gute Entwicklung die den Komfort für Nutzer und Entwickler deutlich erhöht hat.

Jedes Gerät musste in 2009 eine Kamera bekommen. Jedes Laptop, jedes Handy, mittlerweile auch iPods (sogar die kleinen) haben jeweils eine Digicam. Wofür das gut sein soll? Nun – es gibt sicherlich viele tolle Gelegenheiten wo man gerne eine Kamera dabei hätte. Aber brauche ich wirklich 5 Geräte gleichzeitig die jeweils eine Kamera haben?

Es ist einfach übertrieben und eine direkte Folge dessen, dass die Komponentenpreise derart gesunken sind – und nicht weil Nutzer es wirklich brauchen. Wenn man es nicht einbaut, dass ist man nicht cool.

Lieber eine gute Kamera im Handy (so z.B. iPhone 3GS hat endlich eine halbwegs akzeptable) und dann eine kompakte digitale Spiegelreflex-Klasse (sowas wie die Panasonic GF1), statt 5 kleine überall integrierte Kameras mit mieser Qualität.

Fazit

2009 war für die IT Trends, ein Jahr wo viele Early-Adopter Produkte tatsächlich den Massenmarkt erreicht haben und wo mobiles Internet endlich Teil des Alltages geworden ist. Twitter Echtzeit Kommunikation und die iPhone Apps werden auch die kommenden Jahre sicherlich prägen.

Die Non-IT Themen des Jahres 2009 waren sicherlich die Wirtschaftskrise, Umweltdiskussion und Michael Jackson’s Abgang. Alles Drei waren absolute Unworte des Jahres die den Medienalltag dominiert haben. Haben wir daraus etwas gelernt? Geht so. Wir haben es aber überstanden!

• Finanzkrise ist das neue Unwort des Jahres. Keiner versteht was da eigentlich los ist, aber die Medien erklären es einem dass es richtig schlimm ist. Irgendwer ist irgendwie pleite und plötzlich kauft keiner neue Autos mehr. Das ist die Kurzfassung die sich die meisten Deutschen gebastelt haben. Die die betroffen sind, sehen all dies weniger ironisch – sondern erleben knallhart, dass bei der aktuall miesen Stimmung kaum interessante Jobs mit fairen Gehältern zu kriegen sind. Auf dem anderen Ende gibt es auch Stress. Überbezahlte Investment Banker die ihr Privatleben für die Boni aufgegeben haben, müssen miterleben dass sie nun nach Österreich statt in die USA Ski fahren müssen. Traurige Sache :-) Aber Spaß beiseite, die Stimmung ist mies – und wie einfach können die letzten 3 Monate eines Jahres die ganze 2008er Bilanz vermasseln haben wir nun gesehen
• Start-Ups sind aus der Mode gekommen – einfach nichts besonderes mehr. Jeder gründet irgendwas und die absolut wirren Namen der neuen Firmen verschwinden von den Bildschirmen schneller wie sie gekommen sind. Insbesondere in Deutschland ist nun der Trend des Kopierens der US Konzepte weitgehend vorbei und es kam zunehmend zu der Strategie des Nischenbesetzens. Das Problem war aber, dass die frischen Gründer wohl kaum Zeit investiert haben die potenzielle Größe der Nischen anzuschauen. So sind Projekte entstanden deren Mehrwert sehr stark gegen Null tendiert – auch wenn die Umsetzung relativ gut ist. Wo sind die Killer-Ideen ? Die sind da – warten aber auf den richtigen Moment. Und wenn die VCs sich statt auf schnelle Exit’s, lieber auf profitable Substanz-Sites konzentrieren – dann blüht die Deutsche Web 2.0 Szene erst richtig auf!
• Apple iPhone dominiert wie nie zuvor. Die neue Version hat massiv reingehauen und zwar so stark, dass die meisten Hersteller nun anfangen um das Segment der Smartphones richtig Sorgen zu machen. Es kommt fast wie beim iPod zu einem Hinterherrennen ohne Aussicht auf Erfolg (den aber trotzdem jeder für sich ausruft). Die GPS Funktionalität und das schnelle UMTS sind das absolute Powerduo zusammen mit dem leistungsfähigen Mobile OSX. Die vielen Apps, die idiotensichere Handhabung, gute Verfügbarkeit – 2008 war eindeutig das Jahr des iPhones. Nokia macht gute Hardware, aber das Betriebsystem ist absolut veraltet – all die Hänger, die versteckten Menüs, unlogische Bedienung – als ehemaliger Nokia-Fan bin ich von der Software absolut enttäuscht. Samsung und Sony versuchen es verzweifelt mit Pseudo-Designs und White-Label Produkten für bekannte Brands, aber so richtig kann es doch nicht sein. Um erfolgreich zu sein, reicht es doch nicht Designhandys zu machen. iPhone ist nicht nur Design, sondern Funktionalität mit Detailliebe. Blackberry ist da gar nicht so uninteressant. Wobei deren Touchscreen Version im Moment noch etwas schwächelt, vielleicht klappt es ja mit einer 2.0 Fassung.
• Netbooks als Pseude-Evolution der Laptops. Ich verstehe es einfach nicht, warum man nun kleine schwache Laptops nun als Netbooks bezeichnet und dies als die Zukunft deklariert :-) Ich glaube die Notebook-Hersteller sind einfach verzweifelt, weil sie sich mittlerweile kaum differenzieren können. Tablet PCs kann ich eher als Fortschritt ansehen, weil viele Operationen sich mit Fingern deutlich bequemer bedienen lässen (siehe iPhone). Aber Netbooks (??) sind einfach nur Sparversionen mit kleinen Bildschirmen. Und nur weil der Prozessor Intel Atom einen coolen Namen hat, ist es immer noch extrem langsam und kaum als Arbeitstier zu gebrauchen. Wenn leicht und zu Mitnehmen, dass zumindest das Macbook Air – auch wenn ich mir da auch deutlich mehr Power wünsche. Wo sind die echten Innovationen? Vielleicht die SSDs? Aber doch nicht bei dieser Größe und Preisen? Warum brauchen die Economies of Scales hier so lange? Die Nachfrage ist massiv, nur traut sich irgendwie keiner. Strange strange die ganze Sache.
• VDSL ist trotz hoher Erwartungen noch nicht eingeschlagen und aufgrund gewisser Investitionsskepsis der aktuellen Monate – dauert es wohl doch noch ein wenig. Trotzdem surft die Mehrheit (teilweise dank der attraktiven Kabelnetzangeboten) richtig schnell (bis zu 25 Mbit/s und schneller). Die User auf dem Land schauen immer noch Youtube Preloading von mehreren Minuten mit 1 Mbit/s – aber je nach Region gibt es mittlerweile einige Alternativen wie UMTS. Neuester Speedtest von mir (speed.io) hat alles gemessen. Sehr bald gibt es die Auswertungen… ;-)
• Handy-Telefonieren wird richtig bezahlbar. Flatrates wohin man schaut. Wenn es in 2007 noch losging und die meisten Angebote immer noch zahlreiche Tricks erforderten. So kann man Ende 2008 für wenige Euros bereits so viel quatschen wie man möchte – und das nicht nur ins Festnetz. Dasselbe gilt sogar fürs Internetsurfen. Erstens geht es mittlerweile richtig zügig mit HSDPA und zweitens richtig bezahlbar mit USB Sticks zum Flattarif. Gut für uns als Nutzer, schade für die Provider.
• Autos die grün sind, sind cool. Warum das denn? Die Ölpreise haben sich auf ein 1/4 minimiert. Warum soll ich jetzt plötzlich mehr auf den Verbrauch schauen wie noch vor 2 Jahren? Alles totaler Quatsch. Warum soll ein hässliches, kleines, unbequemes Auto nur wegen des geringfügig kleineren Verbrauches plötzlich als zeitgemäß gelten. Es kommt doch auf den Mix aller Eigenschaften an! Ein Auto ist eine teuere Investition und ich will beim Fahren alles genießen – das Design, den Komfort, die Beschleunigung und eine Reichweite erzielen die akzeptabel ist. Der Verbrauch sind 10-15% der Gesamtkosten eines Autos auf die Sicht von 2-3 Jahren. Warum soll mir dies das ganze Fahrgefühl vermiesen? Dass “grün” auch cool sein kann, zeigen wiederum Entwicklungen aus der Ecke der Elektroautos. Aber dies braucht Zeit. Ich denke noch mindestens 3-4 Jahre wenn nicht länger bis die ersten brauchbaren Modelle kommen. Bis dahin warten wir mal
• HD ist alles und wenn nicht, dann muss es High Definition werden. Fernseher, Filme, Handys, Soundanlagen, Navigationsgeräte und Digitalkameras. Was dieses HD bedeutet? Hmm… mittlerweile sowas wie “2.0″. D.h. eigentlich nichts bis auf die Tatsache, dass es etwas Neues ist :-) Dass alles nur eine Marketingblase ist, sieht man alleine darin, dass es immer noch kaum Sender gibt die damit senden. Klar war es ein tolles Argument wie man Fernseher verkauft – aber nun bitte auch den Content liefern. Mittlerweile weiß man ja auch, dass es Blue-Ray und nicht HD-DVD ist. Also her damit – ich will den Fernseher mal ausreizen, endlich mal !
• Obama ist die Trendperson des Jahres! Was für ein Hype… meine Güte, das ist ja noch schlimmer wie mit dem iPhone. Mal sehen wie er das alles meistert.

So viel zum Thema 2008 :-) Es wird als Krisenjahr in die Geschichte eingehen und doch nehmen wir viele guten Sachen mit die uns helfen sollen das nächste besser zu meistern!
