BitDefender Study says Fifth of Facebook Users Exposed to Malware.

Over 60 percent of attacks came from notifications from malicious third-party applications on Facebook's developer platform, the study found. Within that, the most popular subset of "attack apps" (21.5 percent of total kinds of malware) were those that claim to perform a function that Facebook normally prohibits, like seeing who has viewed your profile and who has "unfriended" you. 15.4 percent lure in users with bonus items for Facebook games like free items in FarmVille...

Google Algorithm Update by Brad Gosse

After reading a really good article in Wired about Google and their new algorithm updates, Brad Gosse thought it would be worth shooting a short video about the topic.

"Essentially Google has now admitted that they are using twitter results as a part of their link popularity engine. This is great news for those of us who have invested heavily in social media presence and quality following. They know the difference between automated twitter accounts and the real deal."

Yes, Pandora is really that big.

"A multi-platform, multi-device strategy by Pandora is definitely paying off, though the numbers are almost hard to believe. Just last month, company founder Tim Westergren told Digital Music News that Pandora accounts for 44-45 percent of total noninteractive royalty payments in the US, a number corroborated by SoundExchange."

We're building the www.stephansaid.com website as a hub for Iraqi refugee advocacy, which will meld my music and global justice writings with direct and trackable actions on behalf of the refugees. The site will include photos, lyrics, mp3s, videos, and essays.

Please stay tuned! I look forward to working with all of you to roll out this site, album, and advocacy campaign, marrying international tolerance and post-border culture. I believe the most universal humanitarian response to the war in Iraq, and for our mutual international security, is to help the innocent 4.8 million internally and externally displaced Iraqi refugees, whose numbers make the crisis the most catastrophic of our times. I hope you will help us as we advance a globalization of love that benefits us all, in every nation. Our generation has the tools to create the more equitable global society we seek today. We don't have to wait for politicians or pop radio, we can lead them.

Whew........... Last night we went to an Autumn Equinox ceremony at Ezra Gopal's little school and the wind picked up, the temperature dropped suddenly and Fall made her stormy entrance. I was singing "Sita Ram" with the kids and a few of us grownups all huddled together shivering. But it's actually really beautiful - that early chill that brings with it the melancholy of winter... I hope everyone stays healthy in this coming season.

Another thing about autumn is that it announces my annual East Coast mini-tour. This year we're trying something slightly different. Instead of singing in many different yoga studios, Integral Yoga is hosting me for a larger event at the Community Church of New York. I'll be singing with a much larger band than usual - bigger venue, louder noise! - then doing a weekend workshop at IYI, plus concerts in New Hope, Woodstock and Pensacola, Florida (!!!). Check below for the details.

Also, here's another free download for you all. "Invocation," recorded at Vara Arts in Albany, California by Lou Judson. That's me singing and playing, of course, with Daniel Paul and Radhanath Das drumming and a little bit of Karnamrita's beautiful voice peeking in from behind the clouds. Extreme Sheep

James Rouse and the Viral Factory has directed Samsung's latest campaign ‘Extreme Sheep LED Art’ which combines sheep, sheepdogs and LEDs ingeniously to promote its LED TV range. The viral was produced by Jon Stopp at the Viral Factory and MPC provided the post.

Well, we've been some busy little robots. Just spent a week in NYC, working from Robot Command Brooklyn and the UFO offices, and saw some great music in the process. We've also got new robots in the mix, new clients, and whole bunch of new technology to play with. Stay tuned for more details.
