By most accounts, Memorial Day kinda just sneaked up on us. So if you’re hunting for what to bring to your beer-and-BBQ-infused weekend, the hook ups are separated by a river and a subway ride (7 minutes door to door by yesterday’s count).

In Williamsburg, Liar Liar (pictured above) is Jeannine Ortiz’s soul-bearing art project and passion of upcycled, recycled and the occasional random musing turned into something you can put in your bag. Whether it’s artsy throwback cassette tapes, riffs on Modest Mouse or anyone of a myriad of doo-dads, it’s like raiding the secret passages inside an art student’s mind. Crack it open, peek inside. Saturday & Sunday

Sensory overload knows no bounds with Medeiros Edmonds Jewelry, Brazilian native Ana Edmonds’ handmade collection of vintage and modern jewelry and remixed accessories collection. A little bit of the Southern hemisphere with urban hip NYC appeal via the gateway to greatness – the Lower East Side, of course – now in Brooklyn. Saturday & Sunday

Naïs is the urban crafted lingerie and loungewear collection of designer Anais Bouchard. Lest you think that undergarments should stay undercover and out of sight, Anais will challenge your thinking. Slip on and in and show off one of these. Saturday & Sunday

Our Manhattan pop-up – Artists & Fleas at Chelsea Market- heads into the home stretch [closing June 3rd]. Jump in on your way to that late afternoon Meatpacking party and catch a glimpse of indie goods on Manhattan shores via Brooklyn Charm (and their DIY, one-of-a-kind charm bar made on the spot), The Blue Hound, modern vintage jewelry with a twist of pop culture icon inspiration via Cynthia Rybakoff, GoLLY ’s vintage applique T-shirts, QP & Monty, Paste (swim trunks, graphic T-shirts, limited edition lithographs), and candyland for heritage lovers - Rifle + Radford.

Kendall Holmes has been steadily perfecting his craft for years. The result? Cloud Coffee, the mobile coffee cart by this caffeine purveyor, carnival barker and street charmer holding it down on weekends in Williamsburg.

For Kendall, it’s not merely mastering the art of the cold brew or the pour over. It’s more meta for the man whose affections, connections and bona fides in and around the Brooklyn artisan food scene go deep (by day, he’s running Special Ops for McClure’s Pickles in the new incubator kitchen in Bushwick). It’s all about service. Not about kissing your ass service but about giving it to you straight. After a long coffee-less winter, the coffee machine has returned and with him, the masses like the swallows to Capistrano, where his weekend menu of cold brew, french press and pour over is served to perfection sourcing his beans from Greenpoint’s Café Grumpy.

Follow Kendall and his Cloud Coffee Chariot on Twitter and make sure to share your photos with him and with us (@artistsandfleas). It’s impossible not to want to take a picture, so share it!

Neon accents with vintage enclosures along with hearty succulents is the recipe for success as far as the garden-phobic are concerned. If I can keep one of these babies going for a month, I might take the plunge and try growing some basil. At least I can eat it if I kill it!

Cheeky you say? There’s no denying that. I can’t deny it. I love tote bags. Some might say I have a little bit of a canvas tote problem. Who can blame me?! Look where I work!

Jessica Straw of Oh Deer Dry Goods has created possibly my most favorite tote to date, and I’m punching myself that I didn’t pick one up. What can be so amazing that I’m inflicting injury on myself, you ask? Craigslist Missed Connections screen-printed on totes and tanks. So good. So genius. Jessica also does beautiful screen-prints on wispy chiffon tops and countless other fabrics, just in case you have a different kind of buying addiction.

Check out Brooklyn-born, global-informed Oh Deer Dry Goods in real life in Williamsburg this Summer or on Etsy.

A handful of newcomers bring their international style to Williamsburg this weekend giving local denizens and citizens of the world a taste of world weekend markets from the UK, Italy and beyond.

Sweet Disorder Vintage is Kate Russel’s Williamsburg vintage showroom turned market pop-up shop, a love affair that began as a study of London markets, turned into a 4-year stint holding it down as a Portobello Market shopkeep and is now showing up on these shores with a stunning haul of men’s and women’s wearables from Victorian to the Modern. Saturday & Sunday

Dachshund in the Desert, AKA Dox in the Dez, has gallavanted North and South and East and West to hunt down and harness the hip so you don’t have to. The result are witty and wild terrariums and terra still lifes (pictured). Saturday & Sunday

Rome’s Mercato Monti is a weekend designer market for the famed and soon-to-be-fabulous. Carlotta Cerulli’s wondrous accessories brand Le Gallinelle regularly holds court at the mercato and remixes Roman textiles and styles for the Brooklyn cult of cool. Sunday only

Threadbare Supply is the carefully curated, drop-dead gorgeous collection of jewels, jewelry and accessories that are hand-woven, home-spun and refreshingly fab. Poke around the supply online to get a sneak peek of what’s coming to market this Sunday.

With Spring in full swing, it’s all about the t-shirt as accessory. 3 local outfits do their Brooklyn debut – Ticherts, Andy & Bella (for kids!) and Greenpoint’s Mr. Drinkwater. There’s plenty of t-shirt loving folks to go around so spread the love and slip one on this weekend.

When your Brooklyn appetite has been stuffed, make sure to pop across the East River on the L train to Chelsea Market, the High Line and our rocking crew at Artists & Fleas at Chelsea Market, recovering from a rager of a Spring renewal Thursday night – yes, karaoke DJ, of course. Artists & Fleas at Chelsea Market is located inside Chelsea Market at West 15th Street & 10th Avenue and is open 10:30AM-8PM on Saturday and until 7PM on Sunday.

The awesomely engaging and thoroughly hip Lineposters, high-impact graphic riffs on popular mass transit maps and systems. This barely 1-year old outfit has already taken Cayla Ferari (she’s the designer) and John Breznicky (he’s the engineer — not the choo choo kind, the other kind) around the world and back where they’ve shown their prints and graphic T-shirts to the delights of many urbanites and fans of smart and simple modern design.

Blondes Make Better T-Shirts is the brilliant brainchild of one savvy and sharp-thinking blonde. One can only begin to imagine the slew of “dumb blonde” jokes that Lise Ellingsen had to contend with over the years as a designer jet-setting around the world to showcase the work she did for big global brands. She turned her wicked wit and sass onto herself and the fine medium of t-shirts. There is none better. And the puns have become an endless source of fascination – follow Lise and her sharp-tongued tweets.

Arza Design is no stranger to the halls of Chelsea Market and the heart of hip that drives the fashion-forward and fashion-frenzied. Having popularized the hands-free handbag in the mid-2000s, Arza continues to imagine and re-imagine the opportunities that exist for free-wheeling fashion lovers who need their hands free with a selection of bright, bold new colors and textures. Make sure to check out her sizzling Spring/Summer collection through June 3rd.

When it comes to design and designers, there’s the touch and then there’s the magic. Most of the time, it takes a little bit of both. There are some who are natural-born killers (of design) and others who hone the craft over time. Lucky for you (and that Mama who might be in tow with you this weekend), we’ve got both at both markets in Williamsburg and Manhattan.

At our Spring pop-up at Chelsea Market, the master of all things DIY Brooklyn Charm are opening up their exquisite bead bar for some special projects this weekend for Mother/Daughter pairs to make their own jewels. If finding something precious already made for you is your bag, check out some of the newest collection pieces from designer sisters Vale Jewelry and Cynthia Rybakoff

By the Baker is Kira Silver’s masterful line of woven scarves and handmade accessories with weave. It’s not just Isabel Marant who has made acceptable the year-round scarf a trend du jour, Kira is rocking it as well. Wrap yourself up in one.

Upcycled is the new recycled is the latest in vintage glory some say. Acculturated is bringing to market a carefully curated collection of items with a nod to the 1970s and all that that era spawned.

Game of Thrones for the modern day woman, you seek? Silver and stone headbands and head pieces. By Terese turns every lass into a worthy warrior.

Supergreat Greetings just piles on the positive in the greeting card form, a lost form these days. But Samantha Rayman is keeping it real with cards for you.

Artisan hand-poured candles, you say? From the Bronx no less! The Bronx Naturals brings them straight up from the borough to the north so you can burn, baby, burn.

Don’t make it a – yawn – Hallmark Holiday. As awesome as Moms are, they are sometimes difficult to shop for. We’re making it easy peasy for you with these 5 made in Brooklyn recommendations:

1. You might hate to admit it, but your Mom is always right. She has wisdom that seems to always help you when you need it. Maybe she is a teacher, doctor or just an all around learned woman. This vintage ivory and 24 carat gold Owl Necklace from the Spooky Boutique is a one of a kind thing that is delicate and stylish without being flashy. And it will take her back in time perhaps to those classy days when you weren’t even in the picture. Make mom meet Ricky Becker every Saturday & Sunday in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

2. Let’s face it. You haven’t made your Mom something since about second grade. Does she still have that juice can that you covered in glued felt? Didn’t think so. Let KM Candles and Body make an amazing soy candle for your Mom. She makes them all by hand and there are plenty of great scents to choose from. She’ll even put a gift basket together! Fancy! Artist Kelly Marks is Midwestern goodness in the flesh – see for yourself every Saturday & Sunday in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

3. Maybe your Mom used to live in New York City. Maybe she sometimes wishes she could live the glamorous (in her opinion) New York lifestyle. She loves to visit and go to all you favorite places with you. Satisfy her wanderlust and New York City envy with this New York City skyline cuff bracelet by SNASH Jewelry. Mom doesn’t have to sleep on your pull out couch to get her NYC fix this way. Saturday & Sunday in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

4. You might never tell her, but I know that you don’t want your Mom to dress…well, like a Mom. A light, handmade linen jacket or anything for that matter from Artists and Revolutionaries is the perfect thing for Mom. It can be worn to work, to the beach, on the weekends, to the golf course, just about anyplace! It’s something special and sophisticated, yet current. Just like Mom! Saturday & Sunday in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

5. It might be a far cry from the heady days of the 1970s but bangles are back and Evolving Habitat has made bangles magical – turning tree trunks into hip accessories that are gorgeous, functional and a twist on the classic. Make your mom cool with this! Saturday & Sunday in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
