The internal skeleton that serves as a framework for the body. This framework consists of many individual bones and cartilages. There also are bands of fibrous connective tissue—the ligaments and the tendons—in intimate relationship with the parts of the skeleton. This article is concerned primarily with the gross structure and the function of the skeleton of the normal human adult.

The human skeleton, like that of other vertebrates, consists of two principal subdivisions, each with origins distinct from the others and each presenting certain individual features. These are the axial, comprising the vertebral column—the spine—and much of the skull, and the appendicular, to which the pelvic (hip) and pectoral (shoulder) girdles and the bones and cartilages of the limbs belong. Discussed in this article as part of the axial skeleton is a third subdivision, the visceral, comprising the lower jaw, some elements of the upper jaw, and the branchial arches, including the hyoid bone.

When one considers the relation of these subdivisions of the skeleton to the soft parts of the human body—such as the nervous system, the digestive system, the respiratory system, the cardiovascular system, and the voluntary muscles of the muscle system—it is clear that the functions of the skeleton are of three different types: support, protection, and motion. Of these functions, support is the most primitive and the oldest; likewise, the axial part of the skeleton was the first to evolve. The vertebral column, corresponding to the notochord in lower organisms, is the main support of the trunk.

The central nervous system lies largely within the axial skeleton, the brain being well protected by the cranium and the spinal cord by the vertebral column, by means of the bony neural arches (the arches of bone that encircle the spinal cord) and the intervening ligaments.

A distinctive characteristic of humans as compared with other mammals is erect posture. The human body is to some extent like a walking tower that moves on pillars, represented by the legs. Tremendous advantages have been gained from this erect posture, the chief among which has been the freeing of the arms for a great variety of uses. Nevertheless, erect posture has created a number of mechanical problems—in particular, weight bearing. These problems have had to be met by adaptations of the skeletal system.

Handwriting Styles Art

Handwriting appears to be a dying form. National commentary has sometimes focused on why we continue to teach handwriting in schools to our children since we are in the "digital" age and using a computer is a far easier way to get things done. Umberto Eco, the world-famous novelist, even wrote an article lamenting the lost art of handwriting.

This saddens me, and not because I am a history lover who treasures old things, but because I feel we will lose a fundamental part of whom we are as human beings if we leave handwriting by the wayside.

Our handwriting says a lot about us. There are handwriting experts out there that can decipher the type of person you are, your health issues, your past experiences, hidden talents, etc, just from how you write. That's an awful lot of information! But when you stop and think about it, our handwriting is as individual as we are. We move the pen or pencil across the paper in a certain way, making unique loops and swirls that showcase our originality.

While I love my computer keyboard for allowing me to write much faster than I can with just pen and paper (plus editing is a breeze without that pesky white-out!), I also cling to my old-fashioned paper and pen. I even went so far as to buy a quill feather pen, ink, and parchment paper to experience how those of yesteryear wrote letters and novels and stories. It's something I think everyone should do at least once so that you may truly appreciate the art of handwriting.

And that's just it - it is art. Calligraphy is essentially the art of handwriting, but I'd like to argue that even ordinary, everyday handwriting is art. When I sit down to write in my journal and let my pen flow over the paper, I marvel at how I create words with all these different angles and curves and swoops. It's actually quite amazing.

When is the last time you looked at your handwriting? Played with it? Wrote your name over and over, making it look fancy or goofy or serious or fun? Maybe sometime in the near future, grab a nice pen, one that flows well when writing (I'm a big fan of the gel pens) and just start writing. Don't become a slave to technology. While the computer keyboard and the Blackberry and the cell phone have improved our lives, they've also robbed us of part of our personality, the personality that comes through in our handwriting. And don't even get me started on how these devices have butchered the English language and our inability to write complete sentences.

An art car community began to cohere in the 1990s, inspired by movies and books with a wide underground following, and the development of innovative art display venues such as Burning Man. One of the main forces behind this is filmmaker and art car artist Harrod Blank, who created the art car documentaries Wild Wheels (1992), Driving the Dream (1998) and Automorphosis (2009). He also published two books Wild Wheels(1993,2001) and Art Cars: the cars, the artists, the obsession, the craft (2002,2007,2012) Blank also co-founded with Philo Northrup the U.S.'s second largest art car festival in the San Francisco Bay Area: Art Car Fest. Today many cars are covered by local newspapers and media. The only real way to get an idea of what is out there is to simply hit the road or attend an art car event. A New Year's Eve event in Houston, TX held on 31 December 2010 had over 100 Illuminated entrants, it is titled Gloworama, produced by Art Cars of Houston LLC - their events are limited to illuminated vehicles only. The illuminated parade also drew the attention of the Galveston, Texas-based business empire Yaga's Entertainment, Inc. (the current contract holder of Mardi Gras! Galveston) as part of the five-year contract signed on 18 November 2010.

A well known early art car used for commercial advertisement was the Oscar Meyer Wienie Wagon—Later versions were known as the Wiener mobile. These are bus-sized vehicles styled to appear as a hot dog on a bun. Commercial use of the art car has become popular in the 20th and continues into the 21st century. At the same time visionary applications including cars transformed into religious shrines continues to place visionary self-taught artists, student artists and corporate artists side by side on the road and at art car events.

The art car culture was once strongest throughout Texas and the Southeast but now it extends throughout the United States and art car events can be found in many major cities as well as in small country towns. Art cars now very evident in the East, with a large event often held in Baltimore. In Canada, art cars are popular in British Columbia and also in the western Canadian plains with shows in Nanaimo, B.C. and Regina, SK. Other cars can be found throughout the world, most recently in Europe with the European arm of car-hire firm, Avis, supporting the movement.

Every piece of jewelry starts out as a simple idea, then a simple design. Jewelry designs can be drawn on paper using pencils or pens, or they can be created with special computer software.

Jewelry is a type of accessory that humans have used to adorn their bodies for centuries. The first jewelry was most likely crafted from readily available raw materials, like bone and wood. With the discovery of precious metals, like gold and silver, ancient individuals began to create beautiful and ornate pieces of jewelry.

Originally, most types of jewelry were typically very time consuming and expensive to make, and they were reserved for only the wealthiest citizens. As precious metals became readily available and the process of making it became easier, jewelry became more readily available to the masses. Today, nearly everyone – young or old, rich or poor – owns at least one piece of jewelry.

There are several different types of jewelry, and each different type is meant to adorn a certain body part. Earrings are meant to adorn the ears, for instance, and necklaces are meant to adorn the neck. Some other types of jewelry include bracelets, anklets, rings, brooches, pins, and body jewelry.

Jewelry designers will often create several different types of jewelry, but some will specialize in designing only certain types. For instance, a designer may only create necklaces or rings. Some designers will only design jewelry for certain events or individuals, like weddings or royalty.

During the design stage, jewelry designers will typically put their ideas on paper. Traditionally, this was done using paper and writing instruments, like pens and pencils. Today’s modern technology, however, makes it possible to easily create jewelry designs with computer software.

After a jewelry design is completed, most jewelry designers will then make a prototype. Depending on the type of design, a jewelry designer might create a piece of jewelry using a couple different methods.

Some types of jewelry may be made with different jewelry parts, known as findings. Simple pieces of jewelry can usually be made this way. For instance, a simple necklace can be made with findings like a chain, clasp, and charm.

Very skilled jewelry designers may be able to create complete pieces of jewelry from scratch. In order to do this, they will often create a model of the piece from other substances, like clay or wax. The model can then be used to create a mold, and melted metal can be poured into the mold to cast a charm or similar object. Strong wire can also be used to create several metal rings, known as jump rings, and these can be linked together to form a long chain.

Many pieces of jewelry also consist of precious or semi-precious gemstones. Depending on a jewelry designer’s skills and experience, he may be able to cut, polish, and set these stones into a piece of jewelry.

Gold was an integral component of Asante art and belief. Considered an earthly counterpart to the sun, it was the physical manifestation of life's vital force, or "soul" (kra), and was incorporated into the ruler's regalia to represent his purity and vigor. At the political level, gold indicated the kingdom's dominance over rivals. Much gold entered the Asante court via tribute or war, and was worked there by artisans from conquered territories who introduced regional

sculptural forms that were adopted for official use at the kingdom's capital in Kumasi. The court's sovereign power was further displayed through its regulation of the regional gold trade.

The king's Golden Stool, which was, and remains, the primary symbol of the Asante nation, illustrates this precious metal's cultural resonance. Court histories state that in 1701, as Osei Tutu was sitting beneath a tree, the Golden Stool descended from the sky and came to rest in his lap, a divine gesture in support of his rule. A wooden form covered in gold sheets and hung with bells (to warn the ruler of impending danger), this artifact is no functional seat but rather a metaphor for the power of the Akan state. At court ceremonies, the stool is displayed on its own European-style chair set on a mat of elephant hide. As an icon of the Asante kingdom, it functions like a national flag, embodying the political and cultural soul of the nation. Other stools, also made of wood but decorated with intricate carving and metal inlay, were the prerogative of loyal and esteemed chiefs (1986.478.2). Upon their deaths, these stools were blackened with smoke and ritual offerings and placed on an altar, where they served as conduits for communication with a deceased leader's spirit.

Numerous art forms displayed at court were made of gold. Cast gold disks called akrafokonmu ("soul washer's disk") (L.1982.92) were protective emblems worn by important members of the court, including royal attendants known as akrafo, or "soul washers." Individuals selected for this title were beautiful men and women born on the same day of the week as the king. They ritually purified and replenished the king's, and thus the nations, vital powers. Another insignia of courtly power were afena, curved swords with distinctive gold-covered hilts and pommels worn by high-ranking individuals. An Akan sculpture of a seated chief from the Museum's collection illustrates this emblem of power (1980.429). Cast gold ornaments exhibiting imagery of political and martial supremacy dangled from sword hilts and scabbards and enhanced the prestige of those who wore them. Finally, court linguists who acted as the king's advisers and spokesmen carried gold-covered wooden staffs of office called kyeame poma. As early as the nineteenth century, these staffs displayed elaborately carved finials portraying political symbols and motifs from Akan proverbial lore (1986.475a-c).

As time progresses, people seem to be finding some very interesting ways to show off their uniqueness.Hairstyles are one of the most intriguing ways that people are doing this. Unlike some other methods of showing off style, a hairstyle can easily be changed if the person doesn't like the way it looks.

Tattoos and piercings are permanent reminders of your uniqueness. They can prevent you from getting a job if they are in places that are visible. If you choose to show your uniqueness through a hairstyle, you can always take it down in favor a more subtle hairstyle while you work.

Some people have come up with some really interesting hairstyles. This blog has a post with 15 unique hairstyles. It is simply amazing how they made their hair do these things. Some of the pictures look more like works of art than hairstyles. There is a walrus, an elephant, and a guitar.

The first thought that comes to mind when looking at those pictures is about how long they had to sit still to get the styles in. Can you imagine having to sit still for hours to make your hair look a bird's nest? Some women have hair that looks like a rat's nest naturally, but not a bird's nest like the one in the blog post.

Yes, unique hairstyles are fascinating. Trying to come up with something you can be proud of that shows off your personality can't be easy. Trying to come up with a plan to make that hairstyle come to fruition is probably even more difficult than coming up with the idea. It would take a real artist to make a lot of these styles.

Taking it down would probably take a considerable amount of time. It isn't like these hairstyles can be taken down in just a few swipes of the comb. You would have to know how the hairstyle went up so that you could work backwards to take it down. Making a mistake would probably be horrible because all the hair would probably get really tangled. It may even be so tangled that it would have to be cut out.

I feel valued to be a source in the process of art and creation.

On assignments, personal + professional, my approach is to establish an accurate comprehension of styling + concept thus allowing me to integrate looks accordingly. As these are established, makeup + hair simply become an extension {an addendum} to the art direction.

Aurangzeb and Later Mughal Architecture

During Aurangzeb's reign (r. 1658 - 1707), brick and rubble with stucco ornamentation replaced squared stone and marble as the building materials of choice.

Aurangzeb was responsible for additions to the Lahore Fort and also built one of the thirteen gates, which was named for him, and the Badshahi mosque, a structure constructed from brick with red sandstone facades.

In general, however, Mughal architecture had begun to decline during Aurangzeb's reign, a process that would accelerate after his death.

Architecture under Shah Jahan

The vision of Shah Jahan (r. 1628 - 1658) introduced a delicate elegance and detail to Mughal architecture, illustrated in the Jama Masjid in Delhi, the Moti Masjid situated within the Agra Fort, and the Sheesh Mahal in the Lahore Fort, which makes spectacular use of pietra dura and complex mirror work. His most famous achievement, however, is indisputably the Taj Mahal.

Located in Agra, India, the Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum built between 1632 and 1648 by Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Constructed by twenty thousand men, it represents the Islamic garden of paradise, and is widely regarded as Mughal architecture's greatest achievement.

The mausoleum rests in the middle of a large square plinth and has four almost identical facades, each with a large arch-shaped doorway. It is topped by a large double dome and a finial, combining both the traditional Islamic motif of the crescent moon and the Hindu symbol of the trident, associated with the god Shiva. The central dome is adorned with a lotus design and is surrounded by four smaller chhatris, each of which also has the same lotus motif. Four tall minarets extend from the corners of the plinth.

The exterior decorations of the Taj Mahal include calligraphy, abstract forms, verses from the Koran, and vegetable motifs, executed in paint, stucco, carvings, and pietra dura work. The interior decorations also feature inlay work featuring precious and semi-precious gemstones. Muslim tradition forbids elaborate decoration of graves and the bodies of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal are interred in a plain crypt underneath the mausoleum. However, the inner tomb features two cenotaphs or false tombs that are richly decorated with inlays of semi-precious stones forming vines and flowers and surrounded by jali screens.

Under Jahangir (r. 1605 - 1627), Mughal architecture became more Persian than Indian.

His great mosque at Lahore is a great example of the Persian style and is covered with enameled tiles.

At Agra, the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula, completed in 1628, was built entirely of white marble and decorated in elaborate pietra duramosaic.

Mughal architecture first developed and flourished during the reign of Akbar the Great (r. 1556 - 1605), who commissioned palaces, mosques, gardens and mausoleums. The architecture was a synthesis of Persian, Turkic, Timurid Iranian, Central Asian, and Indian Hindu and Muslim styles.

Akbari architecture is also remarkable for its large-scale use of sandstone, evident both in the construction of Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's royal city, and Akbar's own tomb in Sikandra. The mosque at Fatehpur Sikri boasts the Buland Darwaza, the largest gateway of its kind in India. Early Mughal mosques had massive enclosed courtyards and domed shallow prayer halls.

One of the most stellar accomplishments of Mughal architecture under Akbar is the tomb of his father Humayun, situated in Delhi, India. Commissioned by Humayun's wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562, and designed by a Persian architect, Humayun's Tomb is the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent and first structure to use red sandstone on such a large scale. It is also the first Indian building to use the Persian double dome, with an outer layer supporting a white marble exterior - a material not seen in earlier Mughal architecture - and the inner layer giving shape to the cavernous interior volume. The use of indigenous Rajasthan decorative elements is particularly striking, including the small canopies or chhatris surrounding the central dome. It boasts the use of the pietra dura technique, with marble and even stone inlay ornamentation in geometrical and arabesque patterns on the facade of the mausoleum, and jail or latticed stone carving decoration. This style of decorative facade was an important addition to Mughal architecture and flourished in later Mughal mausoleum, including the Taj Mahal..

Mughal architecture is a remarkably symmetrical and decorative amalgam of Persian, Turkish, and Indian architecture.

Mughal architecture first developed and flourished during the reign of Akbar the Great (ruled 1556 - 1605). Akbari architecture was known for its extensive use of red sandstone as a building material. Humayun's Tomb, the sandstone mausoleum of Akbar's father, was built during this period.

Mughal architecture reached its peak in refinement and attention to detail under Shah Jahan (r. 1628 - 1658). Shah Jahan commissioned the famous Taj Mahal, a white marble mausoleum dedicated to his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

Mughal architecture declined after the death of the emperor Aurangzeb in 1707.

To tweet seat or not to tweet seat; that’s the question on everyone’s mind. After a rather engaging conversation at the Theater Communications Group Annual conference in Dallas, I went home thinking about the pros and cons of new technology and how it can be used to engage today’s audience. If our audiences are evolving, why are we still connecting with them in the same manner as the previous generation of administrators? After the success of email, facebook, and blogs, it only makes sense to give the Twitter verse a try, right? But what I realized in Dallas was that the question, “Why?” can be applied to anything; and should actually be applied to everything. Your success with Twitter, just like your success with any initiative, will have a direct correlation to a clearly defined “Why?” It’s easy to think that you should jump on the tweet seat bandwagon because supposedly everyone is doing it, but that is simply not the case. If you’re “Why?” is something like “I want tweet seats because XYZ Theater has tweet seats,” then you will have a hard time finding success. Every organization is unique and you should do what is in its best interest.

Art behaviors might have been directly adaptive; their adoption was responsible for increased reproductive success and the relevant propensities were passed to future generations. For instance, art might have bonded individuals and sustained their values in ways that benefited their reproductive chances compared to those of art-impoverished people. Alternatively, art behaviors might have been incidental by-products of other adaptive capacities, such as intelligence, curiosity, and creativity. Many such theories have been advanced and there is considerable disagreement about what the arts are alleged to have been adaptations for or about the adaptations to which they are alleged to have stood as by-products. The comparative evaluation of these various, often conflicting, positions is challenging but well deserving of close attention.

And when that is done, it remains to consider if the arts serve similar or related evolutionary functions in our modern context. Perhaps as by-products they went on later to become adaptive in some new way. Perhaps as adaptations their evolutionary advantages came to be negated by changes in the human social and physical environment.

We can say at least this much: even if art behaviors are near-universal when taken together, they are so complex and varied that each individual person expresses them in a subtly distinctive fashion. Some people love novels, others are mainly interested in movies; a person who is insensitive to poetry might be a fine dancer, etc. We can also observe that, unlike other universal behaviors that are mastered relatively cheaply, such as bimetallism, art behaviors involve significant costs and ongoing commitments. These two facts together suggest that these behaviors can serve as informational rich signals about fitness-relevant characteristics of those who display them. That is sufficient to show an important link between art and evolution.

They are languages that all people speak that cut across racial, cultural, social, educational, and economic barriers and enhance cultural appreciation and awareness.

Art is something that can attract a person to observe or view due to it beauty and its presentable look. The art also must be a work that can communicate and useful between a viewer and the artist. But of all the beauty in the world, the works of beauty by the Mighty Allah is the infirmity and with His approval the human can create a beautiful art. As said by Hashim Musa (1996) about the concept ofarts:

'Art, for human is the occasion for expression, talking, verbalization and speech, and for the representation of beauty, truth and perfection. However, the real height of beauty truth and perfection is Allah and all His creation."

To express the need in art, an artist should know how to communicate with the viewer, spectator or observer through his art as the medium. The communications that created by the artist have made the art useful and some times meaningful for human. Craft is Art, art done by the artist that so beautiful and useful to the need of its observer. Craft, did have all the concept mention as an artwork. In the word from Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia (2003) were one of it definitions about arts is:

“Art is a craft, but not just any sort of craft. It is a craft of expression - of someone's feelings or thoughts, and it can take many forms depending on a chosen medium."

Theadvertising objectives that have been tested in this thesis are: ad attitude, product attitude, brand attitude, perceived quality, brand interest, perceived brand ability and purchase intentions, all of which can be considered as plausible goals for a company such as Air Tours.

For these objectives, the ANOVA-analyses show very little significant evidence that there should be any connection between the level of artistry and the evaluations provided through the surveys. Instead, they reveal that the range of images, scaled from least to most artistic, is in fact broken in the middle so that the second most artistic image receives the second worst evaluations. This suggests that there is another important psychological mechanism in plan other than the appreciation of art – hence the t-tests.

A peculiareffect of placing art in an advertisement context is apparently that the images rated as the most artistic are not necessarily the ones that are the most liked. According to the t-test results, there is a positive correlation between art and evaluations, but not at very convincing significant levels or with dramatic differences. Instead, the greatest effect was found when the same data was tested in the other direction, i.e., good versus bad image instead of art versus non-art. In a few cases, having a good picture in the advertisement made the difference between a negative (mean below 4) and a positive evaluation (mean above 4). As long as the image is favorable, positive, good, and pleasant and liked, it does not matter that much if it is an amateur photo or an oil painting – what matters is the overall evaluation. Thus, the cost of placing a Monet painting in an advertisement may prove to be a waste of money.

Art and advertising, although ideologically separated by the notion of business, carry out their existences intertwined. Still, there is little research today concerning what it is that brings about the positive effects that we see. Based on a thorough empirical study, this thesis combines previous research and tests the causality between art and some of the most commonly discussed mediators of positive evaluations from art onto the advertised product or brand. It also concludes that the results in a leading article within this narrow field of research are erroneous due to a flawed study design and incorrect assumptions. The article argues that the inclusion of fine art in advertising leads to positive product evaluations through luxury perceptions, whereas this thesis proves that it is in fact the overall evaluation of the advertisement that has the most significant impact, rather than the level of artistry.

During the holiday season, we (the consumers) are subjected to mass amounts of TV, radio and paper advertisements for products we don't really need but really want.
