The Conair group commissioned Ron Magnes to create artwork for their 11,000 sq ft show booth for NPE 2012. They chose Ron after seeing his technical and pop style art and thought if he could merge the two styles if would create something really eye catching – they didn’t want just your basic technical illustration. The first part of the project was to create a logo/mark based on the theme of their show. Next would be an 8 ft by 30 ft wall mural showing their product line in use.

The client supplied Ron with a black & white schematic drawing showing their product layout and a 300+ page product brochure to work from. The client was so thrilled with the outcome they asked Ron to do another mural for a wall in the center of their booth. This one was 8 ft by 14 ft showing their drying unit in various industrial dryers.

Ron also created a splash screen for the application program that controls the equipment line.

Ron states, “all-in-all it was a pretty smooth process considering the scope of the project, and the folks at Conair were just a joy to work with.”

A client remembered a cartoon illustration that Alfred Schrier had created many years ago for him (actually it was hanging on his office wall) and thought something similar would be a great way to kick off a marketing campaign for HIS client. The theme was software manufacturing distribution – Alfred’s goal was to come up with a Distributor Business Model. The result was a fun, busy, cartoon illustration for a large poster that depicted “A Day in the Life of the Distributor”!

Skype has just introduced an ad campaign and what a message! Directed at social media – in particular Facebook and Twitter, it is all about the “art of conversation.” Now, we all are involved in social networking and it is certainly a good thing but there are times when we need to speak directly with people – through “real talk” on Skype or just on the phone. We are supposed to be in the communications business and most clients only want to communicate through social media and email. Acquiring information about a prospective illustration assignment can be easily achieved through a “real conversation” rather than an impersonal message that almost always lacks enough information to even understand the scope of the project. In a few minute human conversation all details can be discussed and everyone will feel comfortable that the project is on track to be a success! Hats off to Skype!

Each magazine contained chances to solve puzzles, navigate mazes, and find hidden pictures among many activities for young children. Peter created “hidden picture” illustrations where kids would look for hidden objects, items that should not be in the scene, etc. These are a few of the illustrations that appeared in the various issues.
