First, shame on me for not reading the complete description. I did not realize this was a paint-your-own bank. I thought I was buying a polka dot design. The brush and paints were very poor quality, not easy for a young child to use. I had to trim the brush and pick some bristles out of the paint. As a previous review states, the paint colors are not the colors shown on the package. I will use my own varnish as well because one small pot will not cover the entire bank. Can't help but agree with the other one star reviews. A very messy product. My child received this as a gift and I wish I had taken it immediately to wal-mart to exchange. My 2 year old daughter loves this toy. It's lightweight but very durable. I love that the "pen" is attached so it doesn't get lost. It comes with the trace forms to make the Kai'Lan characters which she loves and asks me to do over and over. Whether it's tracing our hands or scribbling; it gives her hours of activity. MY 3 year old daughter really wanted her own umbrella, and after searching for Hello Kitty and My Little Pony, we settled on this one because she wanted to color it herself.

We never colored it. She loves that it is hers, and she's carried it around several times now. It is no longer 100% perfect, but seems durable enough that I'm comfortable letting her use it on her own.

I was a little dissapointed with this colorbook because I thought it would be full of circles so that the dot dot markers could be used more effectively. The only picture that had circles was the picture of the giraffe. All the pictures are very nice but we aren't using it as I had intended. My daughter has autism and used the dot dot markers in her speech therapy session with pictures containing circles. I assumed that I could use this book along with the dot dot markers in the same manner at home. Her therapist told me to look for bingo art instead. I was looking for a kids craft my daughter could actually use and was happy with the Gemz Cap. The kit was easy to complete and she was able to most of it on her own. I was worried the gemz would fall off easily, but so far they have stayed secure.

The hat is a bit snug. There is a small piece of elastic in the back, but it still is a tight fit. My daughter is four, and she has a hard time getting the hat on herself. I have to stretch open the elastic part of the band and wiggle it on her head.

My 6 year old artist adores these. The colors are bright and vivid. You really can tell a huge difference in things drawn with these versus regular crayons. My daughter needed this for a school project and I build full scale engines for a living. This was fun....BUT not for an EIGHT YEAR OLD to do! Predrilling many holes and tapping the casting for the screws was time consuming(really help overall quality). Using a hardened tip phillips screwdriver is A MUST! Also, using different types of lubricants really helped. Leave out the head gasket and you can see the funtioning motor much better, better lighting too.
Camshaft and rocker illustrations and the assembly directions don't agree. (I also write some auto-tech literature). Obviously written by someone who is non automotive technical.
Make sure mating surfaces are sanded smooth and lubricated. Bundle the wiring and paint some of the colored parts... it makes it look much nicer. GOOD LUCK!!!!Get more detail about Smithsonian Motor-Works.
