The Art Fund charity has today launched the new National Art Pass which costs £35 per year for membership to Art Fund. In return, card holders are given free access to over 200 charging museums and galleries and 50% off entry to major exhibitions. A membership card for under 26s is also available from £18.75.

The Art Fund card would, for example, give free access to The Poetry of Drawing exhibition at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery that runs until 15th May.

Stephen Deuchar, Art Fund director, said: “We must ensure that museums remain able to collect, display and interpret great works of art, for a wide public, whatever the financial pressures of the moment. Supported by the National Art Pass, we are determined to help this happen.”

The exhibition started on Tuesday and runs through until Saturday, 18th December. You’ll be able to meet Rubina between 2 & 4pm on 11th December.

Funds raised are to be donated to the Pakistan Floods Appeal.

The four year, £112.8 million project is scheduled to complete on time and has come in on budget.

The doors are set to re-open on 24 November 2010 and visitors will see a brand new 1,000 seat thrust stage auditorium, 36 metre high tower, new exhibition spaces, new places to eat and drink, including Rooftop Restaurant and Riverside Café and terrace, restored 1930s features and improved public areas including the new Weston Square.

The RSC will celebrate its 50th birthday and formally reopen the theatres with new companies and a new season from April 2011. Further details will be announced in November.
