“RACE, IS A DISTRACTION FROM THE REAL ISSUES..”

Because “the heart is deceitful above all things” according to scripture, “race, as a social construct”, is even possible..

Today, with all of our internet access and learning, there’s still so much ignorance, misinformation and hostility on display, especially during some of these intense social media conversations about “race”. Because, all too often, we ASSUME that every time we (minorities) SEE disparities or disproportionality of any kind — we’re seeing “racism” or prejudice at work..

WHEN, some of the reason these biases, incongruences and injustices exists and are so prevalent, is due to “the context” in which they are administered, presented, and understood concerning the challenges, experiences and history of certain cultural and ethnic persons or groups..

As an example, “cultural colloquialisms” have a specific meaning or context, based upon THE COMMON EXPERIENCE of the said person or group that encounters them “in their skin”..

Meaning, YOU (white, green, yellow, or red person) would NEVER “see it” the way that I do, WITHOUT MY EXPERIENCES or MY GLASSES (lens) that is colored by a biological, psychological, and sociological perspective that is uniquely my own!

This is really no big mystery to uncover. But, it does become important in the conversation, when “color” seems to be taking leading ABOVE — character, integrity and capacity (competency level) of the person seeking leadership, expressing their opinion, or wagging their political tongue like their knowledgable; BUT, they really are NOT!

But, in order for US not to contribute to the foolishness, WE MUST recognize that “race” is a “social construction”; and that does not make race less “real”. And, just like
“marriages” are social constructions as well, their roots have serious cultural, legal, religious, and interpersonal implications.

Oftentimes, as you’ll discover just “growing older”, its the social aspect of most things that makes the issue a phenomenon that is so common or central to ALL of our lives (humanity); AND, its not so much about the things that distract us from the REAL ISSUES..

Put simply, let’s use Obama’s “blackness” as an example of something that was systematically determined a) by racial biases of the perceiver, b) by the political partisanship of the perceiver, and c) by the temporal proximity of the testing session to an election. These patterns reflect “social construction of race”. If Obama were Black or biracial simply as a matter of biological race, we would not see such patterns, whereby his degree of Blackness is a moving target and a topic of debate.

Obama is who he is, but people categorize him as more or less Black, as a function of their own psychological processing. When the target stands still, but his categorization “as X” or “as Y” moves, there is a reasonable conclusion: “categorization is a social construction with psychological roots.”

YOU and I have been PROGRAMMED in many respects “to believe what we believe”!

WAKE UP NOW, and realize, yours and my “freedom” is based upon “what we can perceive properly”, “embrace wholeheartedly”, and “respect dutifully”, because EVERYTHING ELSE is about YOUR OWN PERCEPTION!

If YOU “give GOD your heart”, HE will give YOU a new heart in return! WS-3

Seasons of Difficulty..

If you share any commonality with my personal testimony or life experience, then you know what is it to “suffer long”, and actually “wait upon the Lord” to defend, to help or to restore to you “according to HIS Will” — But, even if you don’t have a familiar story like mine, “seasons of difficulty” don’t serve much of a purpose in our own hearts and minds, until GOD “shows us” the importance of the various crucibles and crosses we must weather; to truly represent HIS Heart and HIS Name in and throughout every aspect of our lives..

And, you can’t even “say that” and “mean it”, without truly being HIS Child, by FIRST having committed “you and your house” to follow HIM all of the days of your lives, while also consistently dedicating yourself to HIS Cause and HIS Kingdom — during the various seasons of life that challenges your faith and your trust in the Living God!

After all, you “know” what it is to “hear the voice of the accuse” louder than (or as loud) as “the voice of your Savior”, right?

Well, if you do..The primary entrance for “the battlefield of the mind”, whether subtle (quiet, but targeted enemy arrows) or overt (intentional, and loud opposition, persecution and enemy accusations against your character), is “the thoughts and intents of the heart”, which either exacerbates or settles the issues surrounding our belief systems and values.

When we “suffer”, our hearts are laid bare in every way. Although we’re all aware that vulnerabilities and depression may come as a result of fighting to keep our heads above water in the midst of the fight. We’re also conscious that we possess or dispossess every enemy of the cross of Christ from having an opportunity “to make us suffer worse”, by the attitude and disposition of our own hearts “when we suffer”..

LISTEN: One of the BIG REASONS I “know” that GOD is about to do amazing things in the ministry, is because HE’s done extraordinary things “in us” — WHILE WE’VE SUFFERED!

“DEATH, BEFORE LIFE”...

The "metric for success" in the mountain of RELIGION, has become so tainted, tilted and turbulent (spiritually speaking), that some people don't really know whether their coming or going in respect to their relationship with Christ, in the so-called progress" of our me-centered churches that are supposed to be doing EVERYTHING "in the name of The Lord"..

I understand why it's so easy for many of us to become misaligned and disjointed with the "where we are" moment by moment in our walk of faith. Because we're all quite shallow in our heart dispositions towards what "real suffering" truly looks like.

The "desire to grow", coupled with the "openness to change" – believe it or not, is the primary barrier to most "church growth", based upon the years of consultancy and research on the "culture" of many churches around the globe.

What do you mean?

This innate desire to spiritually grow, is born from intimacy with Christ - too really see "the increase of HIS Kingdom", must be deliberately and intentionally pursued through the commitment of "the whole", in a stewarding-willingness to accept the necessary changes required on the part of the leader and the people in the congregation. Making this "the priority" is key, before any "healthy" change, expansion or transition may occur.

The Bible says, "Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain" (John 12:24, NKJV). Embracing the profundity of that passage is necessary in order for a church to experience healthy growth, as certain things in the normal "life cycle of growth", has to change or die.

For instance, those who've frequently shared intimacy and access with the pastor, have to learn to share them with the "new" or the "other" people. They have to be willing to let go of the control and expectations for the leader in certain areas, and focus upon Christ's end-time agenda and overarching influence in the life and direction of the church, and that takes an incredible amount of unselfishness and "spirit-led devotion".

Everyone must be willing to die to any thoughts, traditions and temporal thinking that "makes the commands of God of no effect", including some of the feelings and some of our relationships, in order for the kingdom of God to be advanced — and that takes great maturity from the unselfish "sons" and Servant's, without gender or racial biases that hold us captive..

So, how do we grow mature in Christ as Christians?

We find the right church home, commit ourselves to nurturing godly relationships, and we align (through discipleship) with others that are much wiser than ourselves.

The pastoral function is definitely one of the key areas of the Christ's gifts to mankind. And, once the leader and the people decide that growth and expansion is God's will for their local fellowship; along with the inevitable change of interest and roles, comes the shift from the focus on being a "personal minister" to becoming a "ministry leader". If everything "depends upon the leader" — and the leader has to "personally minister" to every person in the church, which is commonly known as a "personality-driven church" — then, the church cannot grow "beyond the leader's own personal energy level", and/or grossly limited viewpoints.

And, that is a serious barrier to the growth that the leader and the people desire, can will potentially create bottlenecks and obstacles in what everyone has actually determined to believe for. This is called the Shepherd-Rancher Conflict, and as the pastor of a small to mid-sized church, the time commitment of the senior pastor and key leadership, including the commitment to do all the praying, all the baptizing, all the teaching, all the intimately knowing every family, every child, every dog and every cat (smile), gets "traded-off" - to a certain degree, as plans for growth and expansion takes place. But, there are solutions to successfully managing the transition, and together we will accomplish this by God's amazing grace!

So, as the church grows, then the role turns from shepherd to rancher. The rancher helps to oversee the appointed under-shepherds, which places a direct demand upon everyone in the ministry to step up to the plate, and grow!

As the transition is properly executed, the majority of the committed, disengaged and inactive members will become mobilized for the expansion and growth of the ministry – and strategically repositioned as the leadership entrusts the ministry to the "faithful" (those who can "teach others also"), which in turn ignites and revives the pew-sitting priesthood (smile) that recognizes their continuum of growth in Christ, is an absolute necessity.

As the people become aware of the vital importance of their own spiritual growth, any of the potential changes and transitions that are required, becomes easier for the people to handle, and the resistance to whatever plans of expansion receive greater support, because the people "have a mind to work".

As things gradually moves forward, teaching that is based upon "activating every believer to use their unique gift and testimony in their respective world" (the marketplace), is how the "Ephesians 4 Mandate" of INTIMACY, MATURITY and UNITY becomes a reality. WS-3

Religion and Politics Don’t Mix?

Q. "Walter: Why did you decide to run for a political office as a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and what do you think you can accomplish by winning District 25B in the Minnesota Legislature?

A. My goal in running for political office through "civil service" as a Christian, is to strategically build bridges from the Kingdom of God into the political arena, as well as through my civic activities and involvement in social causes. First, we ought to express our political beliefs in the voting booth! Secondly, it is also appropriate to support legitimate measures designed to correct a glaring social or political wrong.

Complete noninvolvement in politics as a Christian would be contrary to what God's Word says about doing good in society: "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Gal. 6:10; cf. Titus 3:1-2). It would also display a lack of gratitude for whatever amount of religious freedom the government allows us to enjoy. Furthermore, such pious apathy toward government and politics would reveal a lack of appreciation for the many appropriate legal remedies believers in democracies have for maintaining or improving the civil order.

A certain amount of healthy and balanced concern with current trends in government and the community is acceptable, as long as we realize that that interest is not vital to our spiritual growth, our righteous testimony, or the advancement of the Kingdom of Christ. Above all, the believer's political involvement should never displace the priority of preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

We can't protect or expand the cause of Christ by human political and social activism; no matter how great or sincere the efforts. Ours is a spiritual battle waged against worldly ideologies and dogmas arrayed against God, and we achieve victory over them only with the weapon of Scripture. The apostle Paul writes: "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

We must reject all that is ungodly and false and never compromise God's standards of righteousness. We can do that in part by desiring the improvement of society's moral standards, and by approving of measures that would conform government more toward righteousness. We do grieve over the rampant indecency, vulgarity, lack of courtesy and respect for others, deceitfulness, self- indulgent materialism, and violence that is corroding society. But in our efforts to support what is good and wholesome and reject what is evil and corrupt by making a profoundly positive impact on our culture — we must use God's methods and maintain scriptural priorities as our focus!

God is not calling us to wage a "culture war" that would seek to transform our countries into "Christian nations." To devote all, or even most, of our time, energy, money, and strategy to putting a facade of morality on the world or over our governmental and political institutions, is to badly misunderstand our roles as Christians in a "spiritually lost world".

God has above all else called the church to bring sinful people to salvation through Jesus Christ. Even as the apostle Paul described his mission to unbelievers, so it is the primary task of all Christians to reach out to the lost "to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me [Christ]" (Acts 26:18; cf. Exodus 19:6; 1 Peter 2:5, 9).

If we do not evangelize the lost and make disciples of new converts, nothing else we do for people—no matter how beneficial it seems—is of any eternal consequence. Whether a person is an atheist or a theist, a criminal or a model citizen, sexually promiscuous and perverse or strictly moral and virtuous, a greedy materialist or a gracious philanthropist — if he does not have a saving relationship to Christ, he or she is going to hell.

It makes no difference if an "unsaved person" is for or against abortion, a political liberal or a conservative, a prostitute or a police officer — he or she will spend eternity apart from God, unless they repent and believe the gospel! WS-3

"RECONCILING THE REALITIES, BY EMBRACING THE TRUTH"

When I consider the grave importance of what it means to "vote our convictions" and to "represent our faith" in our world today as genuine Christ-followers, I must reconcile the realities associated with a bent towards "conservative values" -- or more specifically what it means to favorably side with Republican platforms during most elections, because of the imbalance, the record and the rhetoric of the Democratic Party and it's known historicity of fueling the institutional Racism and the economic and political oppression that is understood by people of color who "know history"!

As I was recently rereading an article during my travels throughout the State of Minnesota, I was moved by the realities of some of the "truths" that I just can't ignore, considering some involvement in politics at some level in the future. And, with the conviction that more Christians do need to be engaged in the political arena, so that we can flip the script from the normal character assassination and sabotage that is becoming so prevalent, to actually addressing the issues with practices and principles that does not turn into partisan pedantic's that muddies the waters of thoughtful inflection and serious contemplation, around how to really solve problems and resolve issues that keeps politician's politicking -- without seeing real progress for nation and our world.

Here's what I AGREE WITH from the article:

"It's tough to assert being the party of Lincoln while some Republican legislators court Neo-Confederates and other ethnic nationalist movements.

It is similarly difficult for Republicans to trumpet their role in passing Civil Rights Acts while the Republican National Committee is spearheading efforts to dismantle affirmative action (Former GOP chairman Michael Steele struck a good balance on this). And perhaps most importantly, the conservative emphasis on personal responsibility sounds disingenuous to many blacks when Republicans refuse to acknowledge the profound and continuing effects of slavery, Jim Crow and segregation—let alone the persistence of overt racism, institutional and systemic discrimination, and unconscious racial bias.

There is an assumption that these issues do not need to be addressed head-on because a strong economy will raise up all Americans. Hence Republicans focus on fiscal matters over social justice. But if a particular social arrangement fundamentally privileges one group or marginalizes others, then economic growth tends to exacerbate disparities between groups rather than "lifting all boats." Or put another way, a system has to be fair before it can be color blind.

Black families have, on average, 5 percent of the wealth of their white counterparts. African Americans have limited access to the credit used to acquire property or start a business—and they have been largely excluded from social networks that enhance mobility. Meanwhile, whites receive 76 percent of all merit-based scholarships and grant funding. There have been myriad studies demonstrating that, regardless of their credentials, people with "ethnic" names are far less likely to get accepted into schools or called for job interviews. And even when hired, women and people of color are not promoted as often or as quickly as their white male counterparts—helping to explain why blacks earn only 60 cents for every dollar that white people earn in salary and wages.

Addressing these challenges will require both blacks and whites to own up to the roles they have played, and continue to play, in perpetuating these unfortunate dynamics."

CHRISTIANS: We MUST "reconcile the realities by embracing the truth", before we lose our souls with "partisan politics" and twisted "political commentary" that doesn't acknowledge the truth or truly serve the people it's supposed to help -- because its self-serving and "dark" at best!

A "post modern", "post Christian" and "post truth" society that celebrates "alternative facts" (lies) and coldly rejects truth, is neither something we should blindly follow or agree with, and something that we should never allow to inform our lives one bit!

I claim NO MORAL HIGH-GROUND, but I do acknowledge that there is a "standard" - and it is JESUS CHRIST, my Lord!

- do nothing to bring shame to the Name of Christ

- walk in the way that is worthy of our Lord, at all times; on and off "the platforms" we access

BUT, we SHOULD NOT:

- be afraid to do what "normal people do", by hiding behind our big titles and sanctimonious attitudes

- let people back us into the corner of "human perfection", by trying to push our buttons, and then "judge us", when they get a TOLD (not cussing, saints! Lol) by the man or woman of God

- allow ourselves to be ANYONE's "god", by not quickly "checking" their insistence and aggressive postures for us (leaders) to "serve their every whim"; ultimately, to the neglect of our families

Uh, huh..I SEE that diabolical agenda to hold us hostage, but the DEVIL is a LIAR!

We're going to emerge as a "new class" of humble, powerful and spirit-led GIANTS, with radical devotion and pure passion for The Lord and HIS people, without succumbing to the traps and yokes that disagrees with our "righteous representation", in CHRIST!

#THE NAMES OF GOD

Answer: Each of the many names of God describes a different aspect of His many-faceted character.

Here are some of the better-known names of God in the Bible:

ADONAI: "Lord" (Genesis 15:2; Judges 6:15) – used in place of YHWH, which was thought by the Jews to be too sacred to be uttered by sinful men. In the Old Testament, YHWH is more often used in God's dealings with His people, while Adonai is used more when He deals with the Gentiles.

EL, ELOAH: God "mighty, strong, prominent" (Nehemiah 9:17; Psalm 139:19) – etymologically, El appears to mean "power," as in "I have the power to harm you" (Genesis 31:29). El is associated with other qualities, such as integrity (Numbers 23:19), jealousy (Deuteronomy 5:9), and compassion (Nehemiah 9:31), but the root idea of "might" remains.

EL ELYON: "Most High" (Deuteronomy 26:19) – derived from the Hebrew root for "go up" or "ascend," so the implication is of that which is the very highest. El Elyon denotes exaltation and speaks of absolute right to lordship.

EL-GIBHOR: "Mighty God" (Isaiah 9:6) – the name describing the Messiah, Christ Jesus, in this prophetic portion of Isaiah. As a powerful and mighty warrior, the Messiah, the Mighty God, will accomplish the destruction of God's enemies and rule with a rod of iron (Revelation 19:15).

El - Gmulot: The God of recompense. (Jeremiah 51:56) - "Because the spoiler is come upon her, <even> upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompenses shall surely requite."

EL-OLAM: "Everlasting God" (Psalm 90:1-3) – God's nature is without beginning or end, free from all constraints of time, and He contains within Himself the very cause of time itself. "From everlasting to everlasting, You are God."

EL ROI: "God of Seeing" (Genesis 16:13) – the name ascribed to God by Hagar, alone and desperate in the wilderness after being driven out by Sarah (Genesis 16:1-14). When Hagar met the Angel of the Lord, she realized she had seen God Himself in a theophany. She also realized that El Roi saw her in her distress and testified that He is a God who lives and sees all.

EL SHADDAI: "God Almighty," "The Mighty One of Jacob" (Genesis 49:24; Psalm 132:2,5) – speaks to God's ultimate power over all.

ELOHIM: God "Creator, Mighty and Strong" (Genesis 17:7; Jeremiah 31:33) – the plural form of Eloah, which accommodates the doctrine of the Trinity. From the Bible's first sentence, the superlative nature of God's power is evident as God (Elohim) speaks the world into existence (Genesis 1:1).

YHVH / YHWH / YAHWEH / JEHOVAH: "LORD" (Deuteronomy 6:4; Daniel 9:14) – strictly speaking, the only proper name for God. Translated in English Bibles "LORD" (all capitals) to distinguish it from Adonai, "Lord." The revelation of the name is first given to Moses "I Am who I Am" (Exodus 3:14). This name specifies an immediacy, a presence. Yahweh is present, accessible, near to those who call on Him for deliverance (Psalm 107:13), forgiveness (Psalm 25:11) and guidance (Psalm 31:3).

YAHWEH-M'KADDESH: "The Lord Who Sanctifies, Makes Holy" (Leviticus 20:8; Ezekiel 37:28) – God makes it clear that He alone, not the law, can cleanse His people and make them holy.

YAHWEH-NISSI: "The Lord Our Banner" (Exodus 17:15), where banner is understood to be a rallying place. This name commemorates the desert victory over the Amalekites in Exodus 17.

YAHWEH-'ORI: Lord my Light (Psalm 27:1)

YAHWEH-RAPHA: "The Lord Who Heals" (Exodus 15:26) – "I am Jehovah who heals you" both in body and soul. In body, by preserving from and curing diseases, and in soul, by pardoning iniquities.

YAHWEH-ROHI: "The Lord Our Shepherd" (Psalm 23:1) – After David pondered his relationship as a shepherd to his sheep, he realized that was exactly the relationship God had with him, and so he declares, "Yahweh-Rohi is my Shepherd. I shall not want" (Psalm 23:1).

YAHWEH-SABAOTH: "The Lord of Hosts" (Isaiah 1:24; Psalm 46:7) – Hosts means "hordes," both of angels and of men. He is Lord of the host of heaven and of the inhabitants of the earth, of Jews and Gentiles, of rich and poor, master and slave. The name is expressive of the majesty, power, and authority of God and shows that He is able to accomplish what He determines to do.

YAHWEH-SEL'I: Lord my Rock (Psalm 18:2)

YAHWEH-SHALOM: "The Lord Our Peace" (Judges 6:24) – the name given by Gideon to the altar he built after the Angel of the Lord assured him he would not die as he thought he would after seeing Him.

YAHWEH-SHAMMAH: "The Lord Is There" (Ezekiel 48:35) – the name ascribed to Jerusalem and the Temple there, indicating that the once-departed glory of the Lord (Ezekiel 8—11) had returned (Ezekiel 44:1-4).

YAHWEH-TSIDKENU: "The Lord Our Righteousness" (Jeremiah 33:16) – As with YHWH-M'Kaddesh, it is God alone who provides righteousness to man, ultimately in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, who became sin for us "that we might become the Righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21).

YAHWEH-TSORI: Lord my Strength (Psalm 19:14)

YAHWEH-'UZAM: Lord Strength in Trouble (Isaiah 49:26)

"GROW UP, ALREADY!"

Our “testimony” is NOT just telling someone what happened to us, but how we partnered with God through the person of Jesus Christ, AND - "overcame triumphantly", through each and every circumstance; NO MATTER WHAT "happened" to us in the process.

God is NOT glorified in a "sad song" or "sob story" that we share through our innocent-ignorance or due to the real-life brokenness, which causes many of us to tell the world about our suffering and challenging circumstances; without resigning it to GOD!

The world is acquainted with "suffering", just as much as we are - or more, but - as Christians, because the Bible says “it rains on the just and the unjust”, our witness is strengthened by relating to those who've gone through similar circumstances -- and being a comfort or consolation to them.

Suffering is one of the areas of "common ground" we have with all of humanity; as well as being subject to space, time and matter; including death. Therefore, all “ministry” done by mature Christians, should be grounded in the foundation of our personal intimacy and communion with the Lord first!

Everything in a believer's life, including the "sermon preparation" for pastors, must take on a different focus; from the pursuing disciple that’s hungry and thirsty for an abiding habitation with the Father; instead of an impressive or revelatory message that magnifies the minors, neglects the practical application for sincere Christian living, and avoids transparency about our own personal development, struggles and growth.

So, a "five-fold ministry calling" does NOT warrant excessive preparation, but sincere devotion to the Lord, weekly preparation of the heart to be open for use, and deliberate study – according to God’s leading; but without succumbing to "the pressures to perform".

The people cannot relate to a leader expressing through his life or message - "spiritual superiority or sinless perfection", which is our attempt "to add to Christ’s finished work" – instead of appropriating His will by His grace, through integris agreement and alignment, with consistent cooperation with the Mind of the Spirit.

Being an example, or "walking worthy of our calling", is NOT just a mandate to ‘be Christ', but a determination to let Him live His life consistently through us - on purpose.

We must graduate from the space where rampant interpretations and "God leading me", continues to reinforce unnecessary wanderings and delays, till we experience the expansive demonstrations and manifestations of GOD's power, without following the prideful preoccupations of men with "being used"!

In 2017, if YOU determine just "to be about PURPOSE", you're going to solve the MYSTERY in your own life around the LACK OF EMPLOYMENT, MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY, and SUPERNATURAL PROSPERITY that you've been "waiting on"!

DO NOT be afraid to be "isolated from the crowd", and MAKE SURE if you have the "same people" lauding or applauding everything that you do -- BE CAREFUL that you're NOT limiting yourself "hanging around the chickens" that love to "gather in groups"; and love to "be affirmed by people"; but will NOT "die to SELF" long enough to be USED for HIS GLORY!
