I KNOW I can change him! How many times have we heard this? Plenty. The truth is that men aren’t going to change. And women are still learning this through every mistake made as a result of this errant thought.

There are many women who take the decision of getting married simply because they hope that marriage would change things. Breaking up is hard to do, or at least that’s what someone once said. When a marriage or serious relationship with a significant other ends it can affect your health, affect your outlook on people, and make you downright bitter.

Sometimes there’s a comedic silver lining to the breakup. Below are a few stories that have been sent in of some of the funniest breakups. If they can’t find joy in their misery, maybe you can.

I had a boyfriend all throughout high school. He was so respectful and totally understood that I wasn’t ready to do anything past a casual make out. He never pressured me for anything physical. He was in theater with me, really funny, and generally dressed well. I thought I’d hit the jackpot.

We went to separate colleges and mine started a week before his. The first week I told my new roommates I had a boyfriend and it would be long distance for a little bit. They thought it was so romantic that we were staying together.
The day his parents dropped him off at school, he called. I was ready to hear all about the move-in. Instead, he broke up with me! But it didn’t go how I thought it would.

This one is a classic and one of the better revenge stories related to relationships that I’ve heard of so far.

“I decided that Valentine’s Day was the perfect day to go through with it, but since I’d caught her cheating last week I hadn’t thought to get reservations anywhere. Thanks to a friend, I managed to get a spot for us at a really nice restaurant by the lake (I live in Austin). I told my girlfriend that I’d come over to her apartment before we went out and make some drinks while she got ready.

I had already packed all of her stuff from my own apartment, including the expensive face cream she keeps (and yeah, I jerked off into it so she’ll be wearing my facial everyday for months). I put all of her crap in a travel bag and drove over to her apartment. I left the bag in the car and went in. She busted out some glasses and bottles of liquor for me to make drinks and then got in the shower. While she was in there, I grabbed the bag from my car and put it in her closet. I also hid a 3-pack of condoms in the bag but only left two rubbers in it. She’ll probably find them, think I left them accidentally and always wonder if I cheated on her– we lost our virginity to each other and never used condoms. She was still in the shower during this time and I grabbed her cellphone and deleted myself from it.

I also looked up “Theo” in her contacts and changed his phone number to mine, for later. After that, I made her a vodka sprite and spit in it a few times. I had a big shot of vodka and waited for her, and when she was dressed we had our drinks. I hate to admit it but she looked really good, so I talked her into giving me some oral as a “warmup for tonight”. A lot of the comments told me I should tap it one last time, and I agreed. I made her gag “accidentally” a few times right in the same spot I’d seen her blowing the other guy. When I was done, I told her that my car was acting funny, so we should take hers instead. I drove us to the restaurant.

This was the part of the date that was supposed to be perfect. We had dinner and wine and I went out of my way to make everything seem normal, giving her the perfect Valentine’s dinner. We talked about vacations we’d taken together and how we’d like to go back, I brought up old memories and made her laugh. I asked her where she wanted to be in five years, and she said hopefully married by then. It was hard at times but I was already committed to finishing it.
We were done eating so I excused myself to the bathroom to wash my hands. From there, I made a call to my best friend and told him to pick me up in half an hour. That’s all the time I was ever going to give the heartless bitch again.

I came out of the bathroom and paid the bill (give me SOME credit for being a gentleman still) and suggested we take a walk along the lake. THANKS AGAIN to the friend, because this turned out to be perfect. There was a little dock nearby and we stood on it, and my hands were shaking but I finally called her out.
I asked her if there was anything she wanted to tell me. She looked confused and played it off very well, if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes I probably would have believed her. I let her lie to me and then told her that I knew about Theo, that she’d accidentally called me and I’d caught them fucking around. I told her I’d found him on facebook and seen his bragging updates. While I was telling her this, she started bawling, and I’ve gotta admit that I was crying a little too. But I kept going and told her how much she’d hurt me, and that I’d been throwing up all week and sick about it. The only thing she kept saying was that she was sorry, the rest of the time she was crying and almost hyperventaling. She would try to interrupt but I kept telling her to let me finish.

I wasn’t too sure if I was gonna do this part of the plan but I had nothing else to lose so I said fuck it. I told her that I honestly believed she was the girl I was going to spend the rest of my life with (which was true) and pulled out a jewelry ring box from my coat. I’d gotten it the day before for about $15 in the same gas station as the condoms. I didn’t open the box because the ring looked totally cheap, but I told my girlfriend I’d had it for awhile but wasn’t going to need it anymore. I threw the box into the lake and it totally looked real because of the tears in my eyes.

She hadn’t stopped crying this whole time and was pulling at me and begging me to listen to her and let her talk, over and over again. I don’t know how else to describe it, she was having a total feakout and I decided it was the perfect time to walk away.

I told her there was nothing to talk about and nothing she could say– I never wanted to see her again or talk to her. I told her that I’d left a bag of her stuff in her closet, and if she left anything else to have a friend come get it. I even mentioned that I’d noticed a “bump on me” and was going to the doctor this week and suggested she do the same. I made it clear that this was the last time we would ever talk to eachother, and then gave her the keys to her car back and said “goodbye”. She tried to hug me and kept saying “forgive me” but I knew better and backed off.

I walked away and left her there at the dock. My friend was waiting outside the restaurant, and I got in the car with him and went to pick up my car back at her place. While we were on the way, I followed through with the last part of my plan: I sent her a txt message, which she would now think was from Theo since I’d switched numbers. It said, “wtf, your boyfriend emailed me and knows about us. i dont want this drama, don’t call or txt me again. seriously.” She still hasn’t written back.

Yeah, she’ll eventually figure it out and think I’m immature, but I honestly don’t give a shit anymore. The person who suggested the txt message plan was right– it’s like she got dumped TWICE on Valentine’s Day, and you can’t say she doesn’t deserve it.

So there it is. I did it and actually feel relieved, but a little in shock now. This has literally been the worst week of my life, and I’m not sure how I’ll handle it. But I’m glad that I reached out, even if it was to strangers. I can’t thank you enough for the majority of you out there being helpful and understanding.

And if all this makes me a dick, I’m prepared to live with it. At least I did something and didn’t just get trampled and pitied.”

I was with a guy for three years. I had to move to a nearby city for a job, but we tried to maintain a semi-long distance relationship.

I go to his appartement, his mum tells me he went to band practice. I call a couple of times, get no answer, send a pissy text, go home. He later logs on to msn-chat, and we talk for a bit. I think “fuck it, I can’t break up online, face-to-face it must be”, and try to make another date. He then proceeds to dump me on msn-chat.

I have never felt so robbed in my life.

My ex slept with my only female friend in town. Neither of them were sorry despite the fact that I never had a single fight with him until then. Somehow I also managed to get 2 speeding tickets ($300 a piece), someone stole my bike, and an avocado fell off a tree and onto my face leaving me with a gnarly black eye.

I checked myself into an extended stay because we were living together at the time. since I was still paying rent on the house and I had randomly booked a ticket across the country to save my sanity and potentially my life from further misfortune, I had to return the house key to my ex.

My revenge? I called him to meet me at the coffee house around the corner and James Bond style hid behind some cars and waited for him to leave. Then I proceeded to break into the house (not breaking an entering, I had paid rent for the month) and pour two big bags with approx 400 live crickets into his bed.

Then I drove around the corner, handed him the key, shut off my phone, and drove to the airport.

Somehow- he wants to be my friend (2 years later).

I’d been dating a girl for just about three years when she broke up with me because she said I had “changed” and she wanted me to be free to work on my research back at school over the summer. She asked that I not talk to her because she needed her space, and while I desperately wanted her back, I decided to respect her wishes.

After about two months of no communication, I realized that our relationship had been borderline abusive (her to me) and that I would be crazy to talk to her again.

Around that same time, she contacted me to ask why I haven’t talked to her since the break up. It turns out her “break up” wasn’t supposed to be real and was intended to make me come crawling back to her. Long story short, she tried to get back together with me and I broke up with her for the final time and endured another few months of “do you hate me?” texts.

A fitting end to a crappy relationship.

Senior year of high school I was nearing the end of a 16 or so month relationship. I was just going to wait it out a little bit longer to see if things improved, but she beat me to the punch.

One day in April it was raining so practice was canceled. I drove straight home cause I had to shit.. and I mean shit. So I run inside my house, leaving it unlocked and run to my bathroom and begin my poop. Now, I’m a “take my time” kind of pooper. So, I plug in my headphones, take out my ipod and go to town on some solitaire. About 30 minutes later, I wipe, flush, wash and am on my way out of the bathroom. When I open my door, there she is. My girlfriend is sitting outside the door waiting for me to come out.

She had let herself into my house without anyone else there and was waiting outside the bathroom for nearly half an hour while I was pooping. She was crying, she was sobbing. What could I do? She told me she was breaking up with me. I could barely make it out through the sobs. At this point in the realtionship, it was more of a relief than a donwer. I had to hide my smile and sense of joy. She ended up staying for almost two hours, crying straight through them. It was obnoxious and I stuck it out cause we had spent quite a long time (for high school relationships) together. When she left, I called all my friends and we hung out for the first time in a long time.

So, imagine the surprise when this dad found Target marketing pregnancy swag to his daughter:

What may be more of one is that Target’s department for Guest Marketing Analytics is so in tune with their consumers based on their spending, they can predict major changes in their lives.

They in fact do it so well, as the New York Times reports, that in one case they were able to predict a high school girl’s pregnancy before her father did.

Meeting with a Target manager while clutching some printed ads that had been delivered to his home, a customer was outraged by their product placement aimed at his young daughter.

‘My daughter got this in the mail!’ the man said to the manager according to the Times, showing him the store’s coupons advertising baby-related products.

‘She’s still in high school, and you’re sending her coupons for baby clothes and cribs? Are you trying to encourage her to get pregnant?’ the man asked the manager who responded with a baffled apology.

The manager himself didn’t know why the man’s daughter had received the items.

So how had she been pegged as a possible future consumer of these products?

What the manager didn’t know was that the company’s analytics department most likely had noticed a pattern of products related to early pregnancy purchased by the man’s daughter.

Clues such as vitamin supplements, large quantities of lotion, and hand sanitizers, typical to many pregnant women according to the Target department, signal other items the consumer may need.

Or as a woman’s pregnancy continues, what she will soon need, like diapers.

‘I had a talk with my daughter,’ the man responded later to the Target manager after listening to his second apology on the phone.

‘It turns out there’s been some activities in my house I haven’t been completely aware of. She’s due in August. I owe you an apology,’ he said.

Target says they became so in tune with their consumers based on their spending habits, their next focus had to be on masking the obviousness in their work.

‘If we send someone a catalogue and say, ‘Congratulations on your first child!’ and they’ve never told us they’re pregnant, that’s going to make some people uncomfortable,’ Andrew Pole, a statistician with Target told the New York Times’ Charles Duhigg.

Corporate spying has proven to be extremely lucrative and it looks like Target is no exception to this:

Race, occupation, relationship status, age, these are all crucial details for labelling and lumping individuals into what their target needs may be.

But as the Times reports, it can get as specific as what magazines a consumer reads, to their credit history, and conversations they’ve held online.

‘And we found out that as long as a pregnant woman thinks she hasn’t been spied on, she’ll use the coupons,’ Mr Pole said.

Target would not reveal which information about their consumers they specifically use and collect.

‘She just assumes that everyone else on her block got the same mailer for diapers and cribs. As long as we don’t spook her, it works,’ he said.

How successful has this ad placement been?

Soon after put in place, Target’s Mom and Baby sales skyrocketed.

The store had figured out what their consumers needed even before they did, as Mr Pole said, and as well made sure to make the items as accessible as possible to them through their store.

The Times notes that the company doesn’t release specific numerical profits for their stores’ many departments, such as mom and baby, but since hiring Mr Pole to their team of analytics in 2002, the company’s revenues have grown by $23 billion since 2010.

As the old saying goes, “Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean that they’re not out to get you“.

I think there is room for secrets. I haven’t told my SO (or any of the previous ones) absolutely everything about my life so its really just an omission rather than a secret. I guess if she asked I’d tell her whatever she wanted to know.

Plenty. If I forget to tell my wife something the day it happened, I usually won’t bring it up again. The reason: if I tell my wife a day later, she assumes I’m hiding something and we argue the rest of the night. No matter what it is, she’ll assume I’m conspiring behind her back.

Little lies help smooth things over, so long as the other person believes it (and the usually do, because they’re motivated to).

Everything works out fine if no one asks questions they don’t want the answer to (and you don’t supply answers for unasked questions.) It either takes a good degree of maturity or shared psychosis.

No good can come from complete honesty. Some things are just for me, some things are just for us, some things are for the whole world.

I do. There are things that no one needs to know about me if I don’t choose to share them, and so far, I haven’t. My mind and my life are and have been too messy to explain, much less share.

No. Secrets don’t do relationships any good, in my opinion. I’m all about communication, openness, and honesty.

I’d say that don’t ask, don’t tell is probably about as best as is humanly possible. People have a right to their privacy, and feeling like you always have to be held accountable to another person’s perception of right and wrong (no matter how much you love them) about things you’d prefer to keep private eventually breeds resentment and a sense of emotional imprisonment. On the other hand, lying to the other person is a recipe for eventual disaster in any relationship.

I personally don’t keep secrets, but I don’t advertise the things I’m not comfortable talking about. If my SO asks me directly about one of these things, I assume that it’s something important to her, and I tell her the truth, no matter how mad I think she’ll get. At the same time, I don’t judge her for wanting her privacy, but if I think she’s hiding something that would directly impact our life together, I do ask, and trust her to tell me the truth. This being said, I do my best to create a safe environment for her to tell me the truth – doing my best not to judge her and instead looking forward to how we can deal with the issue together.

The biggest difficulty I think when revealing these things is conveying context – it can be very difficult sometimes for a SO to understand why you did what you did, and often life puts us in situations where the most viable choice is one that an outside observer would judge as horribly wrong. No two people see things in exactly the same way, and often that difference leads to a negative judgment about one’s morals, when in fact they made the best choice they could.

All of this being said, betrayal is something I think that should be admitted immediately, because the longer you hide it, the worse the eventual impact will be. But something like “I really dig golden showers” or “I pick my nose and eat it when no one is looking” – not terribly necessary to reveal.

I was completely honest with my SOs until I got involved with an extremely jealous one. After a lot of verbal abuse, I gradually learned to lie to her. It also taught me discretion, giving me skills needed for playing around. That’s poetic justice.

You mentioned they were “best friends”, so it’s likely their friendship precludes your relationship by a healthy margin. Discovering boundaries will be a big help here. If the other girl has a past record of being overly flirtatious with your girlfriend’s partners or if you have a past case of being a cheater, the reaction you got was more than likely an emotional response wrapped around a logical fear – that this is a matter of old habits resurfacing.

Female Drama

Don’t discount the idea of this being needless female drama, but keep in mind that it’s going to be important to let your lover know that if she’s telling you to dance with her friend, you might feel uncomfortable if you don’t know how she would like you to handle things in the event things got a bit too involved.

I’m being overly sarcastic, but the truth is that for many women, online dating, webcams, or attention-whoring on message boards, is a great way to feed your ego. You can choose to put your best angles up, choose your best photo, say absolutely nothing at all of substance, and still be guaranteed massive results.

While the same can almost be said for men, the aforementioned offers one thing a man won’t find without working on his online dating profile: Results.

Additionally, these pictures prove that many men lack any sort of “online game”. There are a few things to message a girl with that will help get responses, but they’re not “Hi”, “Hey”, or an empty subject line.

Some guys will get by on looks alone and some guys just get plain lucky. For those more serious about the game, there are PUA or “Pick Up Artist” tactics that seem to get better results. Although it takes a lot of time to learn and if you still look like a giant douche, you will probably just make yourself look like a slightly more annoying Turtle from Entourage.

But on the to the meat of things. When talking about online dating, my friend sent me these 5 pictures of her inbox. This was after less than 4 days on the site she joined.

Guys.. The next time you send a message to someone on an online dating site.. Look at these pics and think twice about what you’re saying. While I’m not a woman, I have to say the subject that looks like it has the best chances of being picked is the one labeled, “xbox kicks wii’s ass”.

Oh, and for the love of God, gifts and “online roses” on the first contact… Little bit creepy.

The basis of the copy/paste submission was pretty much against the prototypical woman you tend to find today in the dating scene.

Through my dealings with the fairer sex over the previous 23 years I have become completely disillusioned with females (all people really, but I’m not trying to date guys) and have now resorted to the internet in an effort to find one that I can at least tolerate for extended periods of time.

Here’s where we get to you. As a staunch rationalist, I realize you’re probably every bit as bitter with men as I am with your cunty compatriots, possibly having almost given up on us. -takes care of herself to some degree. We can’t help certain aspects of our appearance, but if you don’t bathe regularly and have eaten yourself fat it demonstrates a fatal lack of respect for yourself that one would expect to bleed into other aspects of your behavior.

YBOR CITY, Fla. – A southwest Florida church issued a challenge for its married members: Hanky panky every day.

Relevant Church head pastor Paul Wirth issued the 30-day sex challenge to take on high divorce rates.

“And that’s no different for people who attend church,” Wirth said Sunday. “Sometimes life gets in the way. Our jobs get in the way.”

The challenge doesn’t extend to unwed congregants, however.

It’s no secret that one of the primary reasons people cheat on boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, and lovers, is due to an unfulfilled biological need to attempt to procreate. However, it is funny to see churches getting in on the action. No pun intended.

Mirth went on to say:

“We thought if we could challenge our married couples to really engage in intimacy for 30 days and really focus on each others needs for 30 days it would revolutionize their relationships and if we could get single people to remove sex from the equation for 30 days and focus on what really makes their relationships really work it could revolutionize their relationships the current ones that they’re in and maybe their future relationships with their future spouses.”

The Bible actually has some coverage regarding sex and marriage. Whether you’re religious or not, it makes for entertaining reading. Especially when some of the statements are out of context.

How will this affect the divorce rate? Well, it can’t hurt.

After all, if this blog does one thing, it shows that people who aren’t getting “it” at home – go elsewhere. Whether you’re a man or a woman. Whether “it” is sexual or emotional. Getting what we want, via cheating or otherwise, is just part of who we are.

I caught this and wanted to pass it on because it applies the same genetic insticts we still carry today, to the financial side of things. If nothing else, it’s good for a laugh. As long as your wife or girlfriend doesn’t see it!

I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart.

FOR EXAMPLE:

One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed.

Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says, ‘I don’t feel like it, I just want you to hold me.’

I said, ‘WHAT??!! What was that?!’

So she says the words that every boyfriend on the planet dreads to hear…

‘You’re just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man.’

She responded to my puzzled look by saying, ‘Can’t you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?’

Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep.

The very next day I opted to take the day off of work to spend time with her.

We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, big unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits.

She couldn’t decide which one to take, so I told her we’d just buy them all.

She wanted new shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said, ‘Lets get a pair for each outfit.’

We went on to the jewellery department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings.

Let me tell you… she was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck.

I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn’t even know how to play tennis.

I think I threw her for a loop when I said, ‘That’s fine, honey.’

She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement.

Smiling with excited anticipation, she finally said, ‘I think this is all dear, let’s go to the cashier.’

I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, ‘No honey, I don’t feel like it.’

Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled, ‘WHAT?’

I then said, ‘Honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while. You’re just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman.’

And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added, ‘Why can’t you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?’

Apparently I’m not having sex tonight either… but at least that woman knows I’m smarter than her.
