My dream is to have a summer home (granted that I have a regular through the year home first, LOL) away from the brutal Texas heat. I'd love to live in the city during the year, and then have a place to escape to that is calm, peaceful and decorated in a traditional, glam, light and airy style. I found some pictures from Elle Decor that showcase the exact looks that I would love to emulate. Sigh, I can just imagine waking up, cooking and relaxing with a good book each day!

Ok, so you're probably like "what rainy days" is she talking about? Um yeah, earlier this morning there was a huge storm, but from the looks of things in the background here that storm is obviously long gone! I certainly wasn't going to let the messy rain ruin my day though, so I put on this bright skirt this morning for the workday. Leopard is the new neutral right?; so I paired my favorite wedges with it, and out the door and off to fight the rush hour I went! What helps you get through an ugly day?

If you're like me you like to shop, but you also have to spend wisely (dang BILLS!, ugh!). When I'm making a purchase, particularly an "investment piece" (i.e. blazer, handbag, etc.), I think of how many times and different ways I can wear it. I came across this picture of Solange Knowles (major style inspiration for me right now) on Pinterest (don't we all love that place?) and was inspired to make this post! Basically you're taking one nice blazer and tee, and switching out the bottoms and shoes for different occasions. Do you do the same cost analysis when shopping?

A Little Bit Country

I've been wanting a gingham shirt for summer, so when I found this bright yellow one from Gap I knew it would be just right! It also comes in other colors, so I may go back for more. Ha! I threw it on with some shorts to run some errands, and later in the evening when it cooled off, I wore it with some mint green pants. Oh and yes, I'm rocking a faux hawk... ;)

Merry and Bright...in May!

Some people only pair red and green together in December...but as a lover of things bright and merry all year long, I felt like pairing these red jeans with green and navy stripes on top! We have casual Fridays at work, and I could have just thrown on jeans and a shirt, but I feel like when I put a little effort into my outfit it makes Fridays go by just a teeny bit faster. Ha! This site is particularly great because you don’t even have to leave your front door to order! Pretty in...Neon Pink Dress

I found this dress at Old Navy about a month ago, and am just getting around to wearing it. I was saving it for a warm weekend and since I was in my hometown (notice the change in background, ha!) over the weekend it was the perfect time to wear it! The dress comes in several different bright summer colors and is perfect for throwing on for summer picnics, or as a swimsuit cover up.

The perfect look for me with these glasses would be: a bold red or pink lip, high top bun (if only my hair were long enough...lol), crisp linen shirt and pop of color shorts! A Polka Dot Story

Hello Monday! Today was okay for a Monday, other than my normal sleepiness from the weekend. Ha! I wish I could've been one of those cool people at the Derby this weekend...only because I want to wear a cute facinator hat! Maybe one day...but again, just to wear a cute hat...I'm not into horse racing much. Anywho, I found this polka dot dress at Gap a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was a-dor-able. It reminds me of a Kate Spade-ish design. I'm still on the hunt for some bright green or yellow heels to wear with it one day this summer (hey, you KNOW I love me some pop of color!). Well, here's to a productive week everyone!

A few nights ago I made a Mexican themed dinner for my boyfriend and I. Chicken fajitas, sauteed peppers and onions, rice, beans, all the toppings and chips and salsa. I needed the perfect drink to go along with it, and the first thing that came to mind was...sangria! It's especially great now for the warmer months and is so easy to make. I found this recipe here, and there's only a few ingredients and takes about 5 minutes to make. So get your friends together tomorrow for Cinco de Mayo and be the hostess with the most when you serve them this drink! Ole!

While I was doing some shopping the other day at Target, I decided to pick up some nailpolishes. I'm pretty sure I have a color already like this, but this color from Sinful Colors is more neon-y and there's just something exciting about a new bottle of polish! Also, if you're planning on doing your next manicure with a bright polish color, try using a white polish as a basecoat to make your color pop more! I went with a matte top coat to do something different than my normal shiny topcoat.

Ya never know! :) This week I'm loving this striped dress from Banana Republic. I actually have it in my closet and it's so comfy! You can wear it on the weekends while shopping and running errands (with belt or fedora hat), or throw on a blazer and some ballet flats for work (given that you have a more business casual dress code).
