Work on the next episode of the Astral Audio experience is underway; a few changes are afoot. Thanks to feedback from various sources, what is currently Episode II will be removed from the feed; this is in part because of GarageBand.com’s playlist feature. While in theory it works, I thought it would list each band and artist in the show notes automaticly. It didn’t. Plus, it took some of the creative control out of my hands, and personally, I like the power to work my magic. I will do the change when time allows.

What will happen? obsessed movie download I will rename what is Episode III to II, and I will also edit Episode I …. so each show states the episode number at the beginning. This will creat consistancy overall and give, you, the listeners less of a headache.

Needless to say, the episode will be running a bit late. Also, I have a promo to whip up so other podcasters can spread the word about the Astral Audio experience. I am working on a more involving intro for the Astral Audio experience; something that will rope you in from the get go. To help me in this endeavour, I am calling on podcasters to provide additional voices! This will be explained over im or via email; the more the merrier so step up to the mic!

Final thoughts: This is an ever changing project that aims to provide entertainment and enjoyment. Any comments, questions, complaints, and requests are more than welcome. Don’t be hesitant to send me an email divx meet wally sparks ; I am quite punctual in responding.

Let’s break it all down and remove the curtain and explain just how this has started. Since I love the whole concept of audio dramas, I started producing one. I listened to several established productions. I already had a basic storyline in mind. (It was something I had put on the back burner for years.) I already had a grasp of how to produce the podcast side of things thanks to my many conversations with Scott Sigler and research. I invested in the tools necessary to produce a good quality show. I sought volunteer actors that would be up to the task of bringing characters to life. But all of this made Astral Audio Productions no different than your standard podcasted audio drama.

That brought me back to the “outside the box” concept. We have podcasts that fill a certain niche. Some like music. Some like audio dramas or storytelling. Why not combine the two? Couldn’t you build a world around the whole “broadcast” archetype? We’ve proven, (so far), that you can blend these forms of entertainment together. I personally am an eclectic fan of music. I knew that I didn’t want to just play one genre for [you] the listeners. Also, since I was still volunteering my time for a radio dj, I wanted to meld that into the final product. While that last part has been slow going, we are going to be introducing more and more segments from the broadcasted radio show as time permits.

To further blend reality with fiction, Astral Audio Productions will be doing two things to generate interest. First, with Scott Sigler using maps to show his listeners the locations in his book, we see this as something we can do with the Astral Audio Experience whenever there are scenes that reference actual locations here in our world. And speaking of referencing, this brings me to the second way; using current events whenever possible. I won’t say how necessarily, but I will say that you might want to watch the news more or research online for some of the things we dredge up for content. And for the record, we won’t be taking a pro candidate stance if we happen to reference a political story; this is entertainment after all.

Is there more that could be done? Yes. The above strategies aren’t ground breaking in their scope, but they are a start. The small network that has been built as a result of the formation of Astral Audio Productions allows us to do more than simply give you a podcast. We can teach you how we do what we do which would hopefully inspire you to participate. This means that you soon will be seeing tutorials on the writing, performing, producing, and marketing aspects. Also, we will present motivational videos that will help you become more than just a dreamer, but a doer. We want an inspired and active community of fans that will come back to us whenever possible. And not only do we want to show you how to do something, we want to examine what inspires elements of the Astral Audio Experience; namely, what inspires certain settings, plots, and characters. What better way than by profiling books, movies, and other sources that we come across in the research/writing process.

Even though none of us are paid, we are a production company; we invest our time and effort. We hope to be as transparent and as engaging as Hutchins suggests. After all, the tag line is, “we are more than just a podcast; we are an interactive podcasting experience.” You experience the fruits of our labor, and in time, we hope that you will take the various tools we provide and use them to your advantage. This isn’t a one-sided deal. We will want your input so we can improve the quality of our work.

If you are familiar with sound design stick it dvdrip , sound editing, or are a composer, I want to hear from you. The way I want this project to work is simple. Give you the file to do as you please (as long as it fits the general idea which I will discuss later in this post), pass that file to someone else to repeat the process, and so on; the final result being presented to the listeners and readers. All collaborators will be given proper credit. Ideally, this piece would be CD length and segmented for use in the Astral Audio Experience.

The final product is to represent what the Astral Realm sounds like; therefore, this should have more of an other worldly and organic feel. Exceptions to the music would include drones and percussion elements.

5. Artists should keep in mind that we are looking for a somewhat dark atmosphere. Personally, the darker the better. However, it should be able to engage the listener with proverbial twists and multi-layered subtleties.

6. In the segmented version, listeners should be able to receive a different experience when the tracks are shuffled and randomly played.

7. A deadline will be determined once the group is formed.

8. This project is completely volunteer.

You will decide the fate of one of our nominated participants. An odd title for an episode eh? Trust me, I do have a reason for it. I have tried with each audio presentation to bring to you something that engaged me emotionally in some way. Even the themed ones have had something in them that struck a chord. So when I read a blog post regarding a contest that wanted people to write about such experiences, I became excited. The post discussed the wave of celebrities that have been populating Twitter as of late; most not caring to interact with people but to rack up a number of followers. While I could easily slip into a diatribe, I will instead take a different approach and highlight someone on Twitter who has used the given medium for what it is; a method of interaction between interested parties who follow each other. The band Collective Soul has broken the mold and remembers through each reply given or picture posted that it is thanks to their loyal fans that they are popular. So I did as that blog post instructed and followed @collective_soul, sent a direct message, and thus, the seeds for the podcast episode were planted.

The band reminds me of myself, and for you who may be knew, the reason why isn’t obvious. I can best explain it this way. When I was learning the ropes through various academic institutions, I had this desire to be different; not in the, “Hey, pick me!” attention-seeking way, but in the, “I’m Allen, and this is what I do.” The friends I did obtain or attract were drawn to my humble actions and not an arrogant attitude. Collective Soul can best be described as having the same general principle. Even with all the albums they have sold, the many tours they’ve been on, the awards won, you know when you are going to see this band live or here their latest single, you are going to get Collective Soul; rock that is going to energize you, evoke some kind of emotion from deep down, and get an ear-worm stuck in your head for days. It isn’t just the fact that “What you see is what you get,” but how approachable and for lack of a better word, normal they are; like the casual group of friends still trying to make their first album and playing more so because they love to play rather than earn money.

Furthermore, we both have an ear for the eclectic. Long time listeners of my podcast know that not every episode that has music is the same as far as genre selection is concerned. The band has given us something different with each album, and to narrow your vision for just a moment, every single they’ve released. Yet, there is something that reminds you of who they are, what they sound like, and the quality you are getting when you give them a listen. Good illustrations of this can be found in the songs “Gel”, “December”, “Why Pt. 2″, “Heavy”, and their first single (which appears in the episode) “Shine.” No matter how many times you hear each song, you take away something new. (Now that is ear candy you can enjoy!) As an individual who relies on hearing things, I appreciate the rich textures, where the instruments are placed, not only how the vocals come across, but what is said. Even though I haven’t attended a Collective Soul concert, I’ve heard that their live show is an experience you won’t soon forget; the band is currently on their 2009 tour barbie as rapunzel movie download so if you get the chance, check them out.

I’m going to do something a little different here and break down each song I played in this episode. I won’t go into overall meanings of the songs themselves but I’ll let you in on how I was impacted; thereby giving you a little insight as to why each song was chosen. Take from it what you will and let me know in the comments what you think; there is the voice mail option as well. Your feedback is what helps fuel the fire as always.

“All That I Know”

A song that has a somewhat lazy vibe. Picture a summer afternoon, you sitting on a wrap-around porch, and enjoying the scenery. Or maybe you are on a picnic with the one you care for; the two of you on a bright blue blanket under a shady tree. This is the song that would work nicely for both of those scenarios. It is repetitive but in a good way; leaving an impression long after the track is finished. Echos of a good tall glass of ice-cold lemonade; the after effects making you feel relaxed and refreshed at the same time.

“Shine” darby o gill and the little people dvdrip download

A familiar desire of the eager student wanting to be enlightened; this song mirrors a cry for help. However, it is a hopeful urge; not a sorrowful declaration. I think we all want to shine in our own way. No wonder this song hit a nerve in the collective consciousness in the early 90s. It still speaks volumes today; hallmarks of good song writing in my opinion.

“Staring Down”

A song that hits home; it has a sort of Gospel tempo. Think of a guy praying in front of an altar or someone standing in front of the door to his house with flowers in hand; both images reflect humble attitudes. The song communicates a kind of sweet release from past held behaviors which hindered the individual. When we realize our mistakes and how we can break free from the vines that entangle us, we strive to go beyond our natural limits.

I thoroughly enjoyed this whole process; from finding out about the contest, to having interactions with the band, to picking the songs, and putting it altogether in a nice-sized audio package for you to experience. It is days like this when I can safely say I am doing what I love. So enjoy the tunes and leave me any feedback.
