Met a good friend for lunch today at Shorty’s; a joint that makes some of Atlanta’s most original pizzas.   A blazer and boots are always a good fit for a long lunch on a Fall afternoon.

We kicked off a a weekend with friends at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and since Atlanta has apparently jumped from Summer to Winter in just a few short days,  I wanted to be warm during a day spent outside.

Y’all, I’ll be first to admit that I can get really lazy by the time casual Friday rolls around.  But, I’ve been making an effort to step it up more often and add some “oomph” to my ensemble, like today’s denim on denim.  At this point, though, we’re still taking it week by week.

This was my choice for a garden wedding on Sunday evening.  Since the dress is ivory, I wanted to ensure it didn’t compete with the bride, so the fuchsia pumps and colorful necklace were key.

I’ve read a few style blogs who suggest that it’s best to avoid clothing clearance racks since you’re basically sifting through leftover items that no one else wanted. But, I gotta tell you, there are some real gems in the clearance racks, and its your luck that someone else didn’t know how to style them!  This denim blazer was 12.00 at Old Navy and it’s been a routine part of my work wardrobe ever since.

I traveled to San Francisco last week for work and it begged the question, what should I wear to the airport?  I’m no jet-setter, but I’ve certainly racked up my fair share of air miles.  The tips below are what I’ve found make for the best traveling outfits:

1.  Easy on, easy off. We’re all familiar with unfortunate experience that is airport security, so leave your scarves, blazers, and lace up boots in your suitcase.  The less you have to disrobe, the better.

2. Flats. Since I’m closer to 30 than 20, I’ve just got to go with logistics on this one.  It’s too far to walk {or run} along each terminal to make heels worth the effort.

3. Always wear a watch. The airport is no place to take your chance with time. Besides, you’ll want to know if you’ve got a minute to grab an extra cookie before takeoff…

4. Find the right mix of style and comfort. Airplanes aren’t as glamourous as they used to be, but that’s no excuse for sweatpants or pajamas, y’all.
