&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: &amp;quot;Trebuchet MS&amp;quot;, sans-serif;"&gt;Este período é marcado pelos intercâmbios internacionais entre artistas da Paraíba e de países como a Alemanha, França e Suíça. Esse fenômeno difere das décadas passadas quando os artistas locais migravam para o eixo Rio-São Paulo. A criação do Centro de Artes Visuais Tambiá-CAVT (1994), pela família Almeida (Antonio Augusto, Marlene e José Rufino) e das associações Le Hors-Là e Rede para o movimento de artistas visuais (Raul Córdula, Chico Pereira e Dyógenes Chaves), culminaram com viagens de estudo à Europa dos artistas Rodolfo Athayde, Rosilda Sá, Otávio Maia, Luiz Barroso, Dyógenes Chaves, Chico Pereira, Alice Vinagre, Sérgio Lucena, Fabiano Gonper, Murilo Campelo e Marcos Veloso. Em 1998 a Rede recepcionou um grupo de 12 artistas franco-suíços para uma estadia de dois meses em João Pessoa (projeto Laboratoire), através da Fundação Pro Helvetia e com apoio oficial local, na perspectiva de trocas de experiência. A ideia tinha como referência a Exposição Internacional de Art-Door, ocorrida no início dos anos 80, em Recife, e organizada por Paulo Bruscky e Daniel Santiago. Sem dúvida, foi a maior mostra com artistas xilográfos já realizada no país e que, além de seminários e debates, ocupou todo o mezanino, praça e auditórios da Funesc. No ano seguinte, por iniciativa do seu presidente, Antônio Alcântara, a Funesc cria o Festival Nacional de Arte-Fenart, com objetivos de promover ações artísticas, de entretenimento e de formação, em todas as áreas da cultura. Apesar do desuso do modelo “festival” (os festivais de arte estavam cada vez mais se especificando em determinadas áreas), o Fenart emplacou pela simples razão de dispor de um espaço gigantesco (talvez o maior do país) totalmente equipado para atender um festival completo. Em todas suas edições, a programação de artes plásticas do Fenart homenageou vários artistas plásticos – Simeão Leal, Jackson Ribeiro, Raul Córdula, José Lyra e Archidy Picado –, realizou cinco mostras bienais de Desenho e de Gravura, além de ter oferecido workshops, dedicados aos artistas iniciantes, ministrados pelos artistas: Maria Bonomi, Raul Córdula, Leda Catunda, Paulo Bruscky, Gil Vicente, José Rufino, Leda Watson, Edgar Vasques, Uiara Bartira, Ester Grinspun, Jean Stern, Carlos dos Reis e Luísa Gonçalves (de Portugal).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: &amp;quot;Trebuchet MS&amp;quot;, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;/tbody&gt;&lt;/table&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: &amp;quot;Trebuchet MS&amp;quot;, sans-serif;"&gt;Apesar do marasmo que passou a existir na cidade, entretanto, duas notícias vislumbravam novo tempo: a criação de uma associação de artistas plásticos e a construção, no Governo Burity, do Espaço Cultural José Lins do Rêgo, projeto de Sérgio Bernardes e inaugurado em 1983, no bairro de Tambauzinho. Ali se instalava a Fundação Espaço Cultural da Paraíba- Funesc, cujo setor de artes plásticas – sob a orientação dos artistas Hermano José, Régis Cavalcanti e, depois, Arthur Cantalice – foi um dos primeiros a desenvolver suas atividades com a oferta de cursos livres e a realização de mostras de novos artistas. Archidy Picado, Unhandeijara Lisboa, Dyógenes Chaves, Fred Svendsen, Chico Ferreira, Chico Dantas e Alcides Ferreira, eram alguns dos professores. Logo após abrigar a gigantesca mostra de arte neo-expressionista alemã [Momentaufnen, 1987], seguida de workshops entre brasileiros e alemães, a Funesc organizou, por solicitação da classe artística e empenho direto do governador Tarcísio Burity, duas grandes mostras – Arte atual paraibana, I e II – em que se apresentava um panorama da arte local produzida naquele momento. A estes últimos juntaram-se depois Rodolfo Athayde e Cláudio Santa Cruz que formam hoje um grupo mais comprometido com a arte não-figurativa. Roberto Lúcio, artista paraibano radicado no Recife, aos poucos abandona a figuração, detendo-se numa pesquisa sutil de formas e gradações cromáticas que ainda se reportam à paisagem. O final dos anos setenta viu surgir também uma nova pintura representativa, menos comprometida com o regional e seu imaginário e mais voltada para o grotesco, malgrado a diversidade dos artistas. Em maio de 1985 é inaugurada a Galeria Archidy Picado, nas dependências da Funesc, em homenagem a este artista falecido no início do ano. Como galeria oficial, tem objetivos de apoiar os novos artistas e as tendências menos comerciais. No começo da década a arquiteta, Madalena Zaccara, criou a MZ Artearquitetura (manteve-se até 1982), onde realizou mostras dos artistas Rubens Gerchman e Claudio Tozzi (em contatos estabelecidos através do NAC), Maurício Arraes, Raul Córdula, Flávio Tavares, José Lucena e sua filha Letícia, Tota e seu filho Temílson Régis. Para a criação deste Núcleo, a UFPB convidou o artista Antonio Dias e o crítico Paulo Sérgio Duarte, que se responsabilizaram pelo projeto do NAC, o qual teve também a participação do artista plástico Raul Córdula e do sociólogo Silvino Espínola. O Núcleo de Arte Contemporânea foi marco divisor no panorama da arte local. Apesar do processo de modernidade nas artes, acontecido antes na Paraíba, o NAC produziu no cenário da arte brasileira um questionamento importante, que foi o de romper a ditadura da hegemonia do eixo Rio-São Paulo. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;﻿ &lt;br /&gt;

Foi uma época de inúmeras exposições, realizadas onde fosse possível, para apresentar as recentes produções da arte moderna. Nesse momento, a Biblioteca Pública [rua General Osório] era o ponto de encontro das artes. A UFPB, em 1962, cria o seu Departamento de Artes, a partir da colaboração dos artistas do grupo Tomás Santa Rosa. O setor de artes plásticas, com Archidy Picado na organização, passou a funcionar no Casarão de Azulejos, em frente à Praça Dom Adauto, no centro da cidade. E, em 1963, abriu inscrições para seus cursos de artes plásticas, contabilizando mais de 300 interessados. Destes cursos, surgiram artistas que se destacariam no panorama local, como Flávio Tavares, Régis Cavalcanti e Celene Sitônio. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Entre nós, o período marcado entre o golpe militar de 1964, e a definitiva implantação da ditadura, em dezembro de 1968, foi de intensa movimentação: a figuração brasileira investiu nos aspectos políticos, e o Brasil passou a produzir uma arte tipicamente urbana, violenta e sexualizada, em que se destaca o artista paraibano Antonio Dias, ainda hoje referência fundamental na produção estética brasileira contemporânea. A esses artistas, envolvidos no bucolismo da Felipéia, leitores de Rainer Maria Rilke e Marcel Proust, decupadores dos tons de verde vegetal e marinho, seguidores dos pintores franceses, de Monet a Matisse, os jovens artistas dos anos 60 devem o sereno exemplo da humildade. Foi no Centro de Artes Plásticas que Ivan Freitas, Archidy Picado e Breno Mattos iniciaram-se através da orientação de José Lyra, Olívio Pinto, Pinto Serrano e Hermano José. Ivan Freitas deixou a Paraíba em 1957, mas continuou aqui o seu gesto criador como lenda que servia de apoio às novas atitudes dos então 'enumerados' artistas jovens advindos da Geração 59. Anos depois, veio o pintor Antônio Parreiras (Niterói-RJ, 1860-1937), que tinha uma carta de recomendação de Epitácio Pessoa ao então presidente da Paraíba, Camilo de Holanda, para execução de uma pintura sobre a Revolução de 1817, obra esta pertencente ao acervo do Palácio da Redenção (João Pessoa). Segundo o professor Gabriel Bechara, citado pelo artista, Chico Pereira (História da Paraíba em fascículos, 1997), "a partir daí algumas exposições começaram a acontecer na Capital, contribuindo para que se formasse a nossa primeira geração de artistas, composta por Olívio Pinto, Frederico Falcão, João Pinto Serrano, Amelinha Theorga e Voltaire D'Ávila. Em 1924, estes artistas realizaram uma grande coletiva com cerca de 118 obras. A mostra, de forte tendência regionalista, foi denominada Salon Felippéa em resposta à exposição do artista pernambucano Joaquim do Rego Monteiro, irmão do também pintor Vicente do Rego Monteiro, que acabara de trazer à Paraíba os primeiros exemplos de pintura moderna." Realmente, "a Paraíba não participou do ideário modernista a não ser na literatura com a presença de José Américo de Almeida e José Lins do Rego." A fotografia é amplamente utilizada, em especial na revista Era Nova (anos 1920), que tratava da vida social às amenidades político-culturais da elite paraibana. E vai "fornecer as imagens necessárias dos modelos, ao mesmo tempo que passam a ser colorizadas e tratadas como pintura." Brunet e o desenhista da expedição, o alemão Bindseil, deram com o menino Pedro Américo, que tinha entre 9 e 10 anos de idade. Bindseil, em carta ao presidente, reconhece eufórico: "Descobri um rapaz, Pedro Américo de Figueiredo e Melo, filho de pais sem fortuna, que possui um talento extraordinário para a pintura. Desde que sei de minha arte, tanto quanto basta para apreciar um talento nascente, não me lembro de ter encontrado outro igual". &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Pouco tempo depois, o prodígio foi estudar na Academia Imperial de Belas Artes, no Rio de Janeiro, escola criada quando da chegada da Missão Artística Francesa, e da qual saíram os maiores nomes da pintura e da escultura do país nos séculos XIX e XX. O paraibano Pedro Américo era tratado como a glória da Academia, seu melhor aluno, a esperança da arte brasileira. Autor de obras emblemáticas como O brado do Ipiranga (1886-87) e Batalha do Avaí (1872-77), é considerado, ao lado de Zeferino da Costa e de Vítor Meireles, um dos três mestres brasileiros do período Neoclássico. Segundo o professor Gabriel Bechara, "se até hoje os estudos históricos sobre a arte paraibana não puderam caracterizar uma escola artística local a exemplo de Pernambuco, Bahia, Minas e Rio de Janeiro durante a Colônia, é possível, entretanto, perceber no legado em pedra dos entalhadores, uma singularidade que diferencia a produção da Paraíba desde o século XVII no âmbito regional. Porém nem mesmo esta tradição de escultores em pedra calcária que vigorou até o final do século XVIII, tampouco os trabalhos deixados por artistas de outras regiões como os do bahiano José Joaquim da Rocha, autor do teto do convento franciscano, conseguiram manter viva durante o século XIX, em meio à crise econômica permanente, uma produção artística à altura do passado." "A Igreja mais linda do Brasil", como afirmou Mário de Andrade. Não é conhecido o nome do operário-mestre que o teria dirigido. Sua construção foi iniciada em 1589. Os azulejos ainda se conservam intactos na parte interna e ostentam passagens da História Sagrada. Na composição arquitetônica da igreja há muita referência à cor local. No pórtico principal, parte interna, nos enfeites em pedra, ao lado e em cima, o cajú e outras frutas brasileiras surgem como um motivo de pura arte popular. Os altares da igreja são ornados de trabalhos de fina talha e revestidos alguns deles de uma camada de folhas de ouro. Tudo obedece a um estilo barroco-romano. É obra de artista desconhecido, significando, nos motivos, a glorificação de Nossa Senhora e a apoteose de São Francisco no Céu. O rodapé de azulejos portugueses representa a história de São José do Egito. Obra de talha dourada, o púlpito destaca-se no ambiente pela sua beleza, o mesmo acontecendo com as ombreiras das portas principais da igreja, que dão para o vestíbulo." Na Pedra do Ingá (distante 80 km de João Pessoa), documento lítico ainda não decifrado, podem ser observadas, esculpidas na rocha, estranhas figuras assemelhadas a astros, animais, objetos desconhecidos e até a algo parecido com um foguete. Elias Herckman, governador da Paraíba durante o período holandês (1638-1644), já se referia a estas "garatujas complicadas" e atribuídas, por alguns estudiosos, até aos fenícios. Descendentes de troncos raciais migratórios que, segundo especialistas, remontam a mais de 38.000 anos, estes povos vieram por terra (do norte, Via Polar) ou por mar (do Pacífico, Via Transoceânica). Optamos por apresentar de forma linear e cronológica aqueles principais eventos como um roteiro, obtidos a partir das fontes disponíveis, embora ainda em pequena monta, que servirão, ao menos, de referência para estudos mais aprofundados.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

É a décima segunda edição do Salão Municipal de Artes Plásticas – Samap, que este ano contou com uma curadoria apurada e criteriosa assinada pelo pernambucano Paulo Bruscky, artista multimídia, que prioriza as pesquisas experimentais e a experiente curadora carioca Luíza Interlenghi, mestra em História da Arte pela PUC(RJ) e autora de diversos artigos publicados sobre a temática que domina.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: &amp;quot;Trebuchet MS&amp;quot;, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
