Understood. I just wanted you to add DIL to your "trustworthy" charity organizations list while you're at it (for present and future giving).DIL is also non-religious and focuses on secular education (especially, girls' education).I actually know people who work at TCF too. Another great organization.

@Sarmad: I do like DIL and I do support them. I also support CAI (www.ikat.org) and TCF (www.tcfusa.org) because they focus on secular education. For the flooding though, I figured MercyCorps would be better. But you're right. I'll send something to the others too.

Athar, nice write up.Another great non-profit to add to your list is "Developments in Literacy".http://bit.ly/b7ukD1http://www.dil.org/They are based right here in Southern California and I know a few Pakistani American friends who are involved. They also get 4-stars on Charity Navigator.While their primary purpose is education, their students and families have been greatly affected by the floods as well. So they are a good candiate for flood relief as well as any long-term donations for promoting education in Pakistan.
