New template for Atomic CMS was developed. This tamplate based on Siteground j15-17 template, but the logo picture was changed from pizza to rice. Below you can find screenshot of this template. This template is part of Atomic CMS 2.1.2. You can download and install it from download page.

January 2011, Atomic CMS 2.1.2 is now available for download. This version mainly corrects some errors which were found after the previous release. The full list of changes can be found below.

How to create Atomic CMS templates

Atomic CMS allow you to create new templates fast and easy. Usualy it takes about 20 minutes to create new template. To create new templates for Atomic CMS you need:

ready to use html/css design
html editor

Usualy for my templates I use Joomla templates from SiteGround, because it's free to use and easy to convert Joomla template to Atomic CMS format. You do not need to develop anything, because Atomic CMS framework allows you to use controllers and models in your html/css templates. In this tutorial I will explain what to do.

How to create template for Atomic CMS

Create a new folder under the skins folder. Give it the name of your skin, in my case it's sitegroundj15118.

Create the following folder structure:

images - you can put all images for this template in this folder
styles - css styles for this template
views - your websites views
- home
  - index.aspx - you need to have this file in the home folder
- web.config - file to prevent access to tempate folder from your browser (you can copy this file from existing skin)
sitegroundj15118.master - master page file for the template

Your templatename.master file can have this minimum amount of code to runs successfuly

And the basic template code is done. Now you can run your webiste and you will see your content without css styles.

To add css styles and images to template, just copy your images and styles in images and styles folder and make some customization in your master page file.

And the template is ready.

How to integrate jQuery lightbox plugin with Atomic CMS

Lightbox is a very popular jQuery plugin for easy display images in your website. Atomic CMS contains lightbox plugin, and to use it you only need to modify your skin master page to include reference to lightbox css file and reference to lightbox plugin (javascript file).

Reference files

you can include css file this way

and javascript file this way

do not forget to include jQuery before lightbox plugin. I prefere to use CDN (content delivery network) from Microsoft.

Using lightbox plugin

According to documentation of lightbox, you have to add this javascript code in you page
$('a.lightbox').lightBox();
to initialize plugin. Here I prefere to use 'a.lightbox' selector and add class 'lightbox' to all my images.

You can add this initialization line in the master page, and it will be available for all pages in your website, or you can put it in only one page, for example it can be gallery page.

In this example I demonstrate how to use it only in one page. Add this code to your page source code editor

Atomic CMS 2.0 was released

A new version of free open source asp.net mvc content management system was released. Atomic CMS 2.0 contains a lot of improvements comparing with 1.0. The full list of improvements of Atomic CMS is below.

It was a lot of work here. Now I believe Atomic CMS became more user friendly, and more powerfull than version 1.0. A lot of settings can be done on the settings page instead of direct database change as in version 1.0.

Now Atomic CMS contains SQL server database file, and you do not need to install database on your machine. Installation became more easy because all you need now is copy Atomic CMS compiled files on your server and it will work, no configuration required.

New documentation was created for CMS, documentation contains guide how to install, configure and use Atomic CMS.
