Bloomberg and other media sources announced this month that singles have just become the majority (50.2%) of the population in the US for the first time since the government started keeping statistics in 1976. This is a huge mission field for the body of christ.

WHY:              Seek a Unified Body through Prayer for Singles & the Local Church

If you braved the weather and joined us last night, you heard some incredible discussion and insight from local singles pastors and leaders addressing the strained relationship between and challenges faced by the local church and singles here in Austin.  God showed us that we MUST begin changing our ‘Us’ (singles) vs. ‘Them’ (the church) perception and begin taking steps towards acting as ‘We’ – the Unified Body of Christ He intended!

Several calls to action were discussed to help start effectuating this change.  One is on an individual level - where each one of us should go before God daily and ask ourselves the following:

How am I committed to Christ?
Is He my savior?
Is He my daily focus?
Do I model my life after Him?
Am I reading His word?
Do I talk with Him daily?

How am I being an active part of the local body of Christ?
Am I committed to a home church?
Do I only attend on Sunday mornings?
Do I know people on staff at my church?
Do I have people at church who hold me accountable?
Do I serve my church body?

How am I contributing to Christ’s Kingdom?
Do I consider others before myself?
Do I recognize opportunities to share the love of Christ?
Am I selfish or am I willing to sacrifice for others?
Do I look for opportunities to serve others?
Do I regularly pray for others?

Then we discussed the fact that collectively we must come together and go before God, seeking:

~ His will in our lives and the plans He has laid out for each of us
~ for healing of the hurt that may be standing in the way of acting as One Body
~ for the leadership of the local churches and austin1027 for direction and to better serve
~ and also His will and favor on reaching our city with Jesus!

To that end, instead of our typical quarterly One-Day Serve, we are switching things up a bit and want to invite each one of you to join together with us as we pray daily with one another for 40 days…Pray40!

What does that mean?  Beginning Tuesday, May 20th, each morning for 40 days, we will text out a prayer and applicable scripture.  We ask that you get intentional with setting aside some time from your crazy schedules to reflect on the 3 questions mentioned above, read the scripture and pray with us!

How do you join in?  EASY-SCHMEASY!!
