How does driving on Highway help in improving efficiency?

We all know that automobiles extract more about of your fuel in terms of economy as the car drives at a constant speed, but there are more factors to it.

Some of you might know that since the vehicle is at low rpm's(revolution per minute), we are able to extract more efficiency, but why is that?

To understand this, let's clear some basics. The above diagram shows the working of a cylinder/piston in the engine's crankshaft. The 'revolutions per minute indicator' in the instrument panel indicates the revolutions of a piston's up and down movement in a minute inside a cylinder.

1. The piston moves downward in motion to make space for the air intake to add air and fuel from the air intake and fuel injector respectively.

2. Both the valves are closed and piston starts moving upwards.

3. Combustion occurs.

4. Combustion products are ready to leave.

5. The exhaust valve opens and the combustion products are released from the cylinder.

The amount of fuel injected is same at all times whereas the amount of air varies upon the speed or the 'RPM' at which it is functioning.

So, when the RPM is high, the air intake is less than what would lead to 'ideal' combustion that'd be best for efficiency but would lead to wastage of fuel whereas when the RPM is low, the air intake is ideal and combustion happens with maximum efficiency.

Suzuki Jimny sold out in 3 Days!

Suzuki's mini off-roader got sold out in Mexico in 3 days! Although it was rolled out in limited numbers at just 1000 units, it's still an achievement for an off-roading 3-door SUV.

The Jimny is manufactured and exported from India too but not sold here as Suzuki does not see a market for the vehicle but seeing the response it got at the AutoExpo, Maruti Suzuki is working at a 5 door version of the same.

Expect it to get the same 1.5l petrol engine making 103bhp and there is no word on it receiving any off-roading features.

Upon launch, it should be in competition with Mahindra Thar and Compact SUV's like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos as this will be more of a lifestyle vehicle.

MG Hector Mid-life Facelift spotted testing again!

MG Hector which launched less than 1.5years ago, is set to receive a mid-life facelift expected to come near its second anniversary in the Indian car market.

Expected to remain mechanically unchanged, Hector will be updated cosmetically and some technical tweaks. A new design for the alloy wheels, new design for the front grille and replacement on the red reflector which connects the tail lights to be replaced by just a thin line of chrome. We anticipate a change in the design of the rear bumper.

Coming to the inside, MG might update its 10.4-inch touchscreen to a newer version and may change the instrument cluster's layout.

MG Hector has been a successful product for the company so far in establishing the brand and associating it with 'premium products' even though it has a Chinese background.

MG also launched the Gloster this year which is sold out for the year 2020.

Hyundai's Micro-SUV test mules hit the road!

After having success in the Compact and Sub-4m Compact SUV segments, hyundai is developing it's micro-SUV which will rival the likes of KUV100, Suzuki Ignis and the upcoming Tata HBX.

This Micro-SUV is set to fill the gap and demand between the Venue and Santro, in terms of size and price.

It will have an upright body stance like the Venue and two-tier setup of headlights, no information on the taillights.

Onto the drivetrains, the lower trims will borrow 1.0litre petrol from the Santro and the higher trims to have 1.2litre from the i10 Nios

Set to launch by the end of next year, the Hyundai's

Micro-SUV is set to take on the segment.

BMW X5M Competition launched at Rs.1.95Cr (ex-showroom)

The BMW X5 range started from Rs.75.5lakhs, but now with the addition of its 'M Competition' variant, it stretches upto Rs. 1.95Cr.

Powered by a 625bhp 4.4-litre twin turbo petrol engine, the X5M can do sprint of 0-100 in less than 4 seconds! Obviously, at this price point, you get M additions ( mechanically as well as cosmetically)

Nothing much has changed in terms of features, except you get rear entertainment units and customers can personalise their BMW with the help of BMW Individual.

Toyota Fortuner facelift expected early 2021

After launching the facelifted version of the reputed Innova Crysta, Toyota Kirloskar Motors(TKM) is gearing up to launch the facelifted version of its full-sized SUV in the 3rd week of January 2021.

It is worth noting that this generation of the fortuner was launched in 2017 and four years is late for a facelift nowadays. The fortuner already has been a segment leader with more than 45 percent of the segment share because of its bullet-proof reliabilty and resale value, we expect to only see the sales number grow.

When it comes to the changes, the changes are subtle and give the SUV a refreshing look. The LED DRLs, all LED headlights and tail lights, redesigned front grille, reworked bumpers, fog lamps housing and the alloy wheels.

Onto the interior, the changes include a new nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto, new ambient lights, and new touches on the dashboard. It will also feature 360-degree parking camera as well as 'foot-gesture' to open the boot-lid.

"If it ain't broke, why fix it?" Toyota's tried and tested 2.8L diesel motor is expected to power the Fortuner but in a different state of tune i.e. producing 204bhp(+30 than current) and 500nm of torque(+50) which will reduce the 0-100km/h figures by a second and a half.

It is expected to command a price increment of around 1lakh i.e ranging from 29.66-37.88 Lakh(ex-showroom).

India-spec Volvo S60 to be revealed on 27th November.

The launch of the Volvo S60 had already been postponed due to COVID-19, The new Volvo is set to be launched early next year in the Indian market.

To be offered in only a single variant and drivetrain option, the S60 will be receiving a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 190hp

The S60 definitely looks like it belongs to the Volvo family as it borrows design cues from its siblings.

Also the feature list shows that Volvo is leaving no stone unturned as it is loaded almost equal to its expensive siblings.

It is set to rival Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3-series, Audi's upcoming A4 and the Jaguar XE.

New generation Volkswagen Vento to precced the Rapid in starting it's India journey

Even though Skoda India has taken the india operations on its shoulders on behalf of Volkswagen, the next generation Vento will hit the roads before it's Czech sibling rolls-out their version.

This same strategy was seen with the T-roc and Karoq, former being launched first.We believe it's to promote the Vento so as to increase traction for Volkswagen.

When it comes to the cars, we expect the next generation to feature the same drivetrain as the current one offers, while we expect to see an overhaul in the design department and addition of modern-day features like connected car tech, safety features, sunroof,etc.

The Toyota Innova Crysta is truly the definition of an undisputed king when it comes to premium MPVs in the Indian car market. NISSAN MAGNITE VARIANTS REVEALED

The variant list for the much awaited Nissan Magnite is out.

We all know that Nissan India is in a do-or-die situation and they are throwing in all they have in the Nissan Magnite or they'd have to pack their bags from the Indian Auto Industry.
