Thailand Street Map version 10.0
ESRI (Thailand) Co., Ltd. would like to announce that the owners of Garmin GPS devices and Dopod/HTC units (only the models that are bundled with Garmin Mobile XT) can now update to the new TSM version 10.0. The latest map includes several enhancements such as:
* Add more than 1,000 images of new Junction View 4pu+n0>A 2
* Update approximately 500,000 POIs (Point-of-Interest) for the whole country that have been either opened and closed from the past year by actual field survey
* Add and update about 10,000 kilometers of road data
* Add the exits in Highway Mode for major roads, not just the highways ;
* Add entrances and exits on major buildings and landmarks
* Add local voice navigation for all 4 regions of Thailand (for compatible devices)
* Add about ten thousand of new telephone numbers
* Improve map data quality
* Miscellaneous improvements

ESRI (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has developed the new TSM version10.0 for deploying in the GARMIN GPS navigation devices that would meet the user requirements and support every function on all devices sold in the past and present-especially new functions requested by our customers such as realistic view of intersections which provide driving convenient for Thai drivers. Since then the company has received requests for adding more images. So the new version of Thailand map (TSM v.10.0) has increased this data-not only Junction View, but also other functions as well.
After initial testing with the new data, the company found out that the new developments and enhancements might have resulted in side effect on few functions on previous GPS models that don’t support newer features such as Junction View, for example. The primary issue is the search function when you are searching for a place by using the “near…” button which sometime cause the unit to shut down prematurely or can’t find the city that you entered. Other than that you can still search for POIs or use other functions as usual.
The company has worked closely with product manufacturer to urgently solve this issue. The manufacturer will develop the new version of firmware to remedy this problem which requires a period of development and testing. When the new firmware is ready for distribution to end users, the company will inform everyone via this website and by your email address (if you have already registered as member).
By the way, you still can download or request TSM v.10.0 for normal operation by avoiding the about mentioned function. Finally, the company would like to apologize for any inconvenience that might have caused by this issue. Toyota has never had the kind of success in F1 racing that it had expected – despite dropping ridiculous sums of money (some estimate well over $400 million per year) into the sport, Toyota has managed zero race victories in seven years and 139 races worth of competition.

At this point, we’ll just have to wait for an official announcement, which is currently scheduled for November 8th, but if Toyota does indeed leave before the 2010 season we know that there are a few more teams interested in taking the slot.
