Due to the death of 21 people caused by a church bombing, the news about the Egyptians Muslim protected the Christians during their Christmas Mass (Coptics falls on January 7th) was one of the greatest news I've read the whole year, till recently...

.. or more likely very recently uploaded by Nevine Zaki from Cairo, the Christians form a human shield for the Muslims during their prayer. Rumours heard they also handed cloths and newspapers for them to kneel on to protect them from the hot asphalt.

Short Summary of 2010.

Some of you know on the last post how was 2010 for me. Here's some pics of what happened last year.

The first two months was a blank, nothing happened.

March was the start of Leanna, Ceres, Irene and I starting to have photoshoots. Simple ones, just among ourselves. This spans to months after that with quite a few shoots among us only. Photoshoots was fun, thinking of ideas was even better!

Due to this, I got interested in doing cosplay shoots.
I got both Ceres and Irene for this.
Thank you!

I brought my camera here and there. Dragging along either Ceres or Irene along. Sometimes both. Irene and I loved the Commander Seventh Fleet Band that stopped at our shores back in April. This was also the month of LOL Punch!

Back in April, anime fans in KK wanted to watch the second part of the Evangelion movie series. May was the month where finally most anime fans waited for. Anime in KK cinema! This was also the month that I met Cheryl last till I met her again in CF.

not forgetting a fair share of cosplayers that attended as well!

June was the month where it started to go slow. Especially when the girls went to Kuching for Kyan!me. Luckily Ceres went home early so I got to hear what happen back in Kuching. Around a week after that was the Redtone Wimax Online Game competition. It was where I volunteered to babysit all of them since I don't have anything to do that weekend.

July was somewhat a bad month for me. It always was a bad month for me every year. July was always the month I really need to blow up steam, I'm not a person who likes to RAGE. Thus I kept it till I the time the pressure was too high to keep. All was good in the end, I took everything that I don't like for the past year and pour everything out. I don't mean all I've said, I might hurt lots of people around me due to a week or so of non-stop raging. I apologize to those affected. I'm sorry.

July was also the month Irene previews Kirameki Cafe, during the UMS Japanese Cultural Night.

Nothing much happening back in August.

September was the opening of Kirameki Cafe on the 18th. Finally after months of waiting. This was one of those months that I don't have my camera with me till November.

Somewhere far and phone signals goes up and down.

November I got invited to do some stuff. Especially going into rural areas and far places. Talking about plans to do next year. I don't have much hope for it but it's good to hear that someone was planning to promote something. This was also the month that I went to Keningau and Sook for the first time. I hope for more road trips besides traveling outside of Sabah as well. Had fun going around and learn culture.

December, the fourth installment of HobbyCon! Not as fun as last year but I hope it will be better next year. BE BETTER NEXT YEAR!! (Warns people concerned).

I also get to attend Comic Fiesta for the first time. The trip also reminded me why I love and hated KL at the same time. The trip was fun. I'll be there again next year! I'm sure of it!

I've been reading alot this year as well. I have to thank Irene for telling that the Leviathan was in store. I was waiting for it since October 2009. That also leads to how I bought the sequel in Kinokuniya when I was in KL.

2010 OUT! 2011 IN!

2010 has been an up and down year for me. More on half and half kind of thing. At least I did some of the things I want this year. Which is good! Not that good but GOOD! I did not document most of the things I've done this year in my blog unless those who has me on Facebook. I'll post pics soon after all the new year buzz is over.

Looking at the record, 2010 has the worse blog post number of all the years I've been blogging. BUT technically it's not due I do post in my photoblog!

I promise I'll post up a summary of 2010 in a day or two, maybe later, we'll see.

For now, I apologize for the lack of post in this blog in 2010. I hope I could post more this year. To all my friends in real life and some virtually, I apologize if any offense and mistakes I've did intentionally and unintentionally.

Comic Fiesta 2010, the trip!

WARNING! TL;DR CONTENT!

Finally I get to go to Comic Fiesta after few years having our "sial-can't-go-CF" outing for the past few years. It's an outing we made up to celebrate us not being in CF by walking around cosplaying. Of course, I don't cosplay, I take pictures XD.

NO, this post not sponsored by AirAsia! (but i'll be glad if they do sponsor my trip next year :P)

I arrived KL around noon on the 17th December, as soon as I stepped down the plane it was raining. I immediately hopped into the bus to KL Sentral to meet a friend there. Reached Sentral, I grabbed lunch and boarded KTM to Kepong. Reached, kept my stuff, changed to more comfortable wear and rest few minutes. We're out to KLCC.

It's been years since, I nearly forgot how it looks like but of course I can't forget about Kinokuniya. That was where I just bought the sequel to Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan, Behemoth. WITHOUT THINKING! Sadly, the book that Irene's sister, Rina, wanted was not in stock. Sad. Got rickrolled by Kinokuniya.

Went back early and experienced KTM during rush hour. Sardine packed coaches, delays, rain, plus the additional midway stop was not even funny. Reached home and wait for the other peeps to reach home.

18th December, Comic Fiesta Day One. Woke up early, grabbed breakfast and realized Moe De Cafe was kinda close to where I lived. Reached home after breakfast, go ready, left home near noon and grab taxi to Berjaya Times Square. The fee was not bad despite how far it was from Kepong.

Since Irene told me around 9.30am the place was packed, I thought it at least toned down when we reached there. I was wrong, people was still crowding the ticketing area. The lighting was a killer there and the place was a totally cramped. Bought my ticket and went around. Met few friends and few cosplayers I knew. Went around and helped Amber in her booth selling her doujin and some doujins brought from KK. Did not take lots of pics because saw lots of generic characters.

Highlight for the day was Joanna as Saint Celestine, it was "oohs and aahs" till I handed Nex my Sabah flag. Most of them went silent while clicking away. A handful was impressed.

Most of the time in Day One I was in Kana's booth. Did not stay till the end of the day though. Which was a good choice. Taxi fare home was expensive thats for sure.

At least St Celestine was not alone XD

19th December, Comic Fiesta Day Two. Non-cosplayers like me went on ahead and KTM-ed and Monorail-ed our way to BTS. Surprisingly, it was not as packed as the day before. As usual, Joanna went out again with her Saint Celestine. I went and searched for Cheryl as we both promised to have a simple portrait photoshoot. Dragged Irene as well. I broke my 50mm while trying to change lens, which was sad. Adding salt to the wound, Guest18 was there crossdressing with his friend. Enough with one already, this additional two makes me wanna wash my eyes with ACID. Did not take lots of pics that day as well, mostly favour pics for Rina and Amber. Also few camwhore pics which I phailed XD. Met lots of Sabahans INTERESTINGLY besides those who flew to attend CF.

Went home early to beat the rush and rest.

20th December, walked around day. Should be the day we visit Tenshi No Cafe, e@Curve but they can't open in time. Looks like it's gonna be next year then. Since noted that today was a working day, we did our rush shopping. I was not interested on the clothes around till reaching UNIQLO. I got 2 fleece jackets and a T-shirt there in less than an hour browsing. Remembered about the rush hour, we went back early.

Things I bought during my trip to KL for CF. Scott Westerfeld's Behemoth from Kinokuniya, Amber's Doujin and Vocaloid illustrations on CF, Patterned Jacket, Reversible Jacket and MH T-shirt from UNIQLO!

21st December, flying home day. Well, nothing much happen. Packed our bags, went to Sentral, met Moina and went to LCCT via bus. Flight was delayed for around an hour, took the flight home, reached home and rest.

Will I attend the next CF? ABSOLUTELY! I'll make sure it will be one of my yearly must attend event.

HobbyCon 2010, short post!

Year 4 for HobbyCon this year. Yes, I know its a late post. At least something, right? I did not take much photos this year as photogs numbers increased tenfolds, which all reason for me to slack and socialize with friends and cosplayers.

Honestly, this year was huge but not as fun as last year. Probably due to the huge cubicle booth kills the interaction between the other booths.

At least the cosplays stepped up this year. Among them was Kamen Rider during the Showa era and Warhammer 40,000. Last year was only Joanna with her Adepta Sororita costume. Now she's back as Saint Celestine and she's not alone! Joining her are a Blood Angel, Dark Angel and a Terminator.

Obama somewhat approved HobbyCon 2010.

The cool thing about this year, we have friends from Kuching visiting and learning about HobbyCon. Also as courtesy visit since Irene, Ceres and Nana went to Kuching for Kyan!me back in June.

Happy Pocky Day!

I'm sure you're wondering what the hell am I celebrating about? Well, today is Pocky Day, a day to celebrate and share that well known chocolate dipped biscuit stick. Malaysian version was renamed as Rocky to avoid it sounding like a vulgar word.. pfft.. typical!

How did this thing came about?

Well, it's all started in South Korea in 1994 where they exchanged Pepero (a Pocky kind of snack) to loved ones and friends. Why? It's because 11/11 looks like 4 Pepero sticks. To think it being Pocky, it started in Japan, huh? Glico did their Pocky Day in 1999, on the 11th year of the Heisei era thus looks like 6 Pocky sticks.

Maybe we'll have an World Pocky/Pepero Day in 2011? Never know.

For now, let's just enjoy Pocky/Pepero Day with abit of image flood.

B2.0 Preview - Dinner with Sabahan Bloggers

On October 28th, Borneo Colours held a dinner to meet the people for B2.0. Meeting the bloggers from other region of Borneo and the Peninsular was one of the reason I was there (besides the free food and meet the Sabahan Bloggers).

It was fun meeting all the Sabahan Bloggers and the food was fine. Running around meeting new people and old acquaintance. The first thing they pointed out was my hair =_=.

Proton Inspira - Why I Think It Might Work and Fail.

Seen the latest edition in Proton line? Yeah, there's a new one out called the ....
erm... Inspira. Gawd, took me awhile to recall that. No pictures, go google.

If you seen the pics or just saw it, it looks similar to the Mitsubishi Lancer, right? It's because it is! It's rebadged by Proton of hoping the formula they used around 15 years ago works again. The formula they used on the Proton Wira (based on a Mitsubishi Lancer and engine by Mitsubishi), the line that did so well and a few. What they do after that? They abandoned it. Perodua took the same formula, picked another line to rebadge and surpassed Proton in car sales.

Why I say it might work and might fail?

Let's start why it might work.

Like I mentioned earlier, it's a rebadged Mitsubishi, the formula they abandoned. Those who wants a Mitsubishi Lancer can get it for around 20-25% cheaper (I guess?), badge it back to the original and brag like hell. Proton don't care about the consumers badging it back as long as they get to sell. Chassis, engine, all by Mitsubishi. Who doesn't want that? It's just rebadged. They did not take a boat and calling it a car. Good move, Proton!

Unfortunately, it might be too late.

Why it might fail?

It's too late, they should continue on 15 years ago instead of abandoning it and walking alone. If you want to walk alone, do it with style. Instead, they came up with an abomination. A few abominations. Fine. ALL!

If this could help Proton back up, then congratulations to them.

The Simple Gathering with Gallivanter

Last night some of the Sabahan Bloggers had a small gathering in Lembah Impian for their Chinese Hawker's Bazaar masterminded by Daniel, also known as Gallivanter. He's here with Mel for their wedding preparations done, pre-wedding photos and their pre-nupt inquiry.

Talking about Lembah Impian, the sad thing was, I live nearby like around 5 minutes from that place and I never step foot inside till last night. BIDAK OH!!!

Had a great time with them and the rest of the blogging community despite the food was so-so. As Massy said, macam bukan bloggers gathering jak ni with all the DSLR around. HAHA! GUILTY!!! I don't want to lose, sya punya indak canggih. TEDA SPEEDLITE!!

After the makan-makan and the group photo. We proceed to the pool area to chill out. Tempted to dip into the pool! SERIOUSLY!

I might drop by to Lembah Impian again sometime or maybe suggest the next Sabahan Bloggers Gathering will be a pool party? Never know kan?

I can't take it anymore, the more I read stories about this, the more I keep it to myself, the more I feel disgusted. I just want to let out some steam and clear some things out for all the "hoohaa" happening here.

Today marks somewhat a dark day for Malaysia, specifically in the peninsular. At this time, 4 churches were attacked due to a word. 2 arson and 2 failed attempts to do so. Those who live in Malaysia sure know about this story. For those who don't know, read this.

What do you gain from burning the churches? What good can you bring doing that? NOTHING! But I guess people like these enjoy doing it, for they have no shame lighting up fires here and there, promoting hatred. Spreading propaganda for their own enjoyment. Just because of these fanatical people opposing the word used even though the decision was made by the court.

I don't have grudge against my Muslim friends and their beliefs. They're smarter than these people who loves chaos rather than peace among us. Each religion are beautiful, none of them teaches tear each others limbs off but instead to live in peace with one another. But do these kind of people listen? Do these kind of people have no shame? I guess they don't. *sigh*

The more I look to it, the more I realized that these people are lost, which lead them being who they are, fanatics, extremist. Blinded and lost by their own faiths.

I confess, being a Catholic, I'm not the most religious person there is out there. At least I don't go around and yell which religion is better, which religion wrong or this religion kicks that religions arse, which religion should do this or do that. I am better than that, my Muslim brethren as well are better than that.

As not the most religious person out there, here is a prayer for you.

"Kepada yang telah membakar rumah Allah, secara tidak langsung menghina nama Allah, anaknya Yesus dan Roh Kudus, aku mengampunimu kerana kamu telah sesat. Kita semua adalah saudara di bawah nama Allah biarpun cara kita berbeza, pemahaman kita berbeza. Aku doakan agar kamu balik ke pangkal jalanmu dan bertaubat atas perbuatanmu. Amen."

I hope everyone of you read this and accept the prayer with an open mind. The last thing I want are religion bashing comments in my comment box.

I know it's a bit late for this but what the heck. Happy New Year to all of you. 2009 was not a bad year for me, not a good one either. What I've hoped for did not happen, even though I tried. I tried. I did not fail, I did not succeed either. At least I've tried. 2010 marks a new chapter for me, a brand new journey. I expect a bumpy ride but good one in the end.

Talking about bumpy rides, I think it just started. Serious post coming up next. Not talking more about this because I'm going to focus more on the next post.

So to all of you. I hope 2010 brings a good change on your lives, time to live for the best. Forgive and live truthful, nothing good will come being hostile to others.

Yeap. I haven't been blogging much lately but who cares? You can always catch what I'm doing in my plurk. If you're lucky, chat with me as well and a find few rants.

Last week was the third installment of HobbyCon and it was great fun. Made new friends and met some old ones, not to mention a friend I haven't met in years. I got his name wrong yet I got our history right. HEEEY! NAME STILL START WITH THE SAME FIRST LETTER!! Not that uber PHAIL!

Like the first two, I took pictures of the event. This time, I'm being a bit smart by just taking what I wanted to take so I don't waste frames and time just to edit them.

Throughout the first day, we were dined with some shows and contest. Solo cosplay contest, beatbox by Abu and few others. The only complaint I have was the sound. What ever checked the night before was totally gone wrong.

In the end of the day, the solo cosplay competition winner is none other than Joanna with her Sister of Battle costume. I can see manly tears running down Dan's cheek.

Some of us were just blurted "FOR THE EMPEROR!!" automatically as it were a battle cry! Congrats, Joanna! Hard work paid off!

--END OF DAY 1--

Day 2 starts with me and few others who tagged along being early in Citymall. Doing last sound check so that no more mistakes on few parts. We were served by a band from SIA giving us some songs from animes. Thanks so much guys!

That day, we were served with group cosplay competition, Gothic Lolita Punk competition and some shows. I don't bother those as much, picture-wise. I'll just let the others take pictures while I take other pics.

Sabah, Climate Change and I - Blog Action Day 2009.

Climate change. What goes through your mind when people say "climate change"? As we generally know, it has to do with "global warming". Well, that's somewhat part of it. It's bigger than that. It's not only a higher reading off the thermometer. It has more to do on what's going on around us.

Climate change effects Sabah.
Ever wondered (to those in Sabah, Malaysia. Where I live.) there's so much wind all of the sudden? Well, one of them is due to that and that brings more storms as well. It also plays a role on the intensity of the monsoon season. The climate change has altered alot from short and intense monsoon period and rising sea level.

Due to this, some people having problems making a living, especially those who depends on treasures from the sea. Chris Kong, a businessman who depended on the sea tells his story.

Besides the rain, when it comes to the dry season. We're experiencing drought with scorching heat thus contributing to water shortages.

The current see-saw weather we're experiencing was also due to climate change, the massive rain few weeks back was not a coincidence, even if it was because of the hurricane build-up in the Philippines, it was also due to the climate we're currently experiencing.

It's time to change and take action
We need to do something, we need to act proactively. We need to change, we need to monitor everything. We as humans are the only people who can change this before the the clock strikes 12.

I'm now currently planning on to spread awareness on climate change. I hope everyone does.

Flanegan pointed me the way for a great 1Malaysia TV commercial by Proton. Kinda sad though, he's currently in Melbourne and knows the site while I'm here in Malaysia don't even know about the site. Can't blame me, I don't watch TV nowadays besides the series I want to watch. Anyways, I love the series and it's a must watch!

My Dad's Canon AE-1 Program Camera.

Few weeks ago, Flanegan, Mas and I was talking about vintage cameras in chat. Then we talked about how we played film back in the day, I remembered the time I used film when I was 14-15 years old in school with a compact. There was another canon compact film camera kept somewhere. Then I remembered there was a vintage camera around. So I searched the house for it and found the thing! IT'S A CANON AE-1 PROGRAM! Yippee~~

This is how the battery looks like, smaller than the one used for my remote flash trigger. I wonder if they still sell this battery.

I don't know if it still work though. I'll test it one of these days.

Appreciating the Old and New... Cars.

I've always like the Datsun/Nissan besides loving Toyota and other car manufacturers. What I love most of all in teh Datsun/Nissan lines are the Fairlady series besides the Silvias and Skylines. Especially curves on the 240Z.

Now they came up with the new 370Z, something caught my eye. It's called "Synchrorev Match Manual Transmission". Which basically matches the revs on gearshifts so you don't experience jerking. In short, the car will help you "heel-toe" on gearshift.

Another thing I like about the new 370Z was the fact they got the design inspiration from the 240Z.

Hmm, a toughie. Get the 240Z or the 370Z?

I watched District 9 last Friday. So far, the best I've seen on cinema to date. I love every little thing in the movie! I recommend everyone to watch unless you're a total airhead.
