In the fast-paced world of healthcare, a patient's condition can change at any moment, or a routine procedure can present an unforeseen complication. When the textbook answers fall short, what separates a good outcome from a bad one? The answer is critical thinking, the single most powerful tool an RN utilizes. This isn't a soft skill, but a lifesaving competency that empowers nurses to confidently navigate complexity, enhance patient safety, and drive better clinical outcomes. This article explores practical strategies to sharpen this essential skill, preparing you for anything the clinical setting throws your way.

Key Takeaways

The nursing workforce is shrinking faster than it can be replaced, and the impact is already reaching hospitals across the country.

High turnover, rising labor costs, and ongoing burnout are putting pressure on care quality and operational stability.

Short-term staffing fixes are no longer sustainable financially or operationally.

Leaders who invest in long-term workforce strategies now will be better positioned for stability in the years ahead.

Short-term staffing fixes may not be effective or financially sustainable for hospitals and health systems.

Avant Healthcare Professionals offers both long-term contract and direct hire services to best fit your needs.

Why This is a Structural Workforce Challenge

This is not a temporary disruption; it is a structural shift in the healthcare workforce.

More nurses are leaving the profession; fewer are entering at scale, and patient demand continues to rise. The U.S. is projected to need hundreds of thousands of additional nurses each year to meet demand and replace those leaving the profession.

The nursing labor crisis is no longer looming; it is fully underway. As healthcare organizations enter 2026, the convergence of workforce exits, rising patient demand, and long-standing pipeline constraints continues to strain hospitals nationwide. What was once considered a temporary disruption has evolved into a structural challenge.

Hospitals now face a critical inflection point: continue relying on reactive, short-term fixes, or commit to building a more stable, long-term workforce strategy. For healthcare leaders, this is no longer just a staffing issue. It’s an operational, financial, and clinical challenge happening all at once.

The accelerated retirement of Baby Boomer nurses has created a significant talent gap. These departures represent more than a headcount loss; they also mean the loss of experienced clinicians, mentors, and unit leaders. The loss of institutional knowledge increases pressure on onboarding programs and slows team productivity.

Years of high patient volumes, staffing instability, and emotional fatigue have shortened career tenures and increased job switching. For many nurses, burnout is no longer episodic; it is cumulative.

Nursing schools continue to face capacity limits tied to faculty shortages, clinical placement availability, and funding constraints. Even as demand grows, the domestic pipeline cannot expand quickly enough to replace retiring and exiting nurses.

While demand is increasing, the supply of new nurses is not growing fast enough. Nursing programs face faculty shortages and limited capacity, restricting how many new nurses can enter the workforce.

Even as demand grows, the pipeline simply isn’t keeping up. Because these challenges aren’t easing, healthcare organizations are already seeing the impact on their day-to-day operations.

What This Means For Healthcare Leaders

This is not happening in the background; it is affecting daily operations across the organization.

Vacancy Rates Remain Elevated

Open roles are taking longer to fill, often extending to 90 days or more. Every unfilled position adds pressure to frontline teams and leaders alike.

Labor Costs Are Climbing

To maintain coverage, many organizations are relying on:

Overtime

Premium labor

Increased float pool usage.

These costs add up quickly without improving long-term stability.

Turnover is Becoming Increasingly Costly

Repeated cycles of recruitment, onboarding, and training place a growing financial burden on organizations. Frequent turnover also disrupts care continuity, leading to variability in patient experience and outcomes.

The Impact on Teams is Growing

As workloads increase and teams fragment, the risk of error rises. Staffing instability has also been linked to declines in patient satisfaction and HCAHPS scores, metrics that directly impact reimbursement and public perception.

As these pressures continue to build, many leaders are rethinking how they approach staffing altogether.

What Healthcare Leaders Must Do Differently

Moving Beyond Short-Term Fixes

Short-term staffing fixes may address immediate gaps, but they do not solve systemic workforce shortages. Sustainable solutions prioritize predictability, continuity, and long-term retention over constant “gap filling.”

Plan Your Workforce Further Ahead

Instead of reacting to vacancies, leading organizations are:

Forecasting future staffing needs

Planning for retirement waves

Identifying high-risk units early

Workforce strategy now deserves the same level of rigor and foresight as financial planning.

Treat Retention as a Priority, Not a Metric

Retention must be treated as a strategic priority, not simply a downstream outcome of recruitment. Effective strategies include structured onboarding, clear professional development pathways, mentorship programs, and opportunities for internal mobility.

Strengthen Leadership and Unit Culture

Frontline leadership plays a pivotal role in nurse retention. Strong communication, psychological safety, and visible leadership support foster team stability and reduce turnover risk.

A More Sustainable Workforce Strategy

Global recruitment has become a critical component of sustainable workforce planning. When executed responsibly, it provides hospitals with access to experienced nurses who are prepared to commit to long-term practice in the U.S.

Predictable,<ins> </ins>multi-year workforce pipeline: Globally educated nurses often commit to longer assignments, improving staffing stability.

Highly skilled clinicians: Many international nurses bring years of hands-on experience and strong clinical foundations.

Retention advantages: Longer tenure reduces churn, lowers recruitment and onboarding costs, and stabilizes high-impact units.

Cultural and team benefits: Diverse nursing teams enhance patient engagement and support culturally responsive care.

The expansion builds on the success of more than 200 Avant Scholars who have participated in the program, reporting that it enabled them to focus on their education, meet essential needs, and pursue opportunities in leadership, service, and research they once believed were out of reach.

“When students know someone is in their corner, everything changes,” explained Christina Khan, director of global impact at Avant Healthcare Professionals. “We’ve watched students grow, not just academically, but in confidence, leadership, and sense of purpose. Expanding the ‘Dream. Become. Inspire.’ Nursing Scholarship worldwide helps ensure even more students have the chance to realize their dreams.”

Upon receiving the DAISY Award – Honorable Mention, Shehnaz Ali Rehbar said, “I’m truly grateful and honored to be recognized.” But it is her Nurse of the Year recognition that stands as her proudest achievement and a testament to her extraordinary journey.

Born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, with roots in Northern Pakistan, Shehnaz’s early life was shaped by her family’s tradition of service. “Our home was always open to villagers who needed medical help. That’s where I learned what true service means,” she recalls.

Watching her family offer comfort and dignity to those in need left a lasting impression. “It left a strong impression of service and compassion on me,” she says. Inspired by this compassion, Shehnaz set her sights on greater success in her nursing career by moving to the USA.

“At first, moving to the U.S. seemed difficult with my family,” Shehnaz reflects. “But with the right preparation and support, I gained the confidence to take this important step in my career.”

A Season of Uncertainty

As Shehnaz was settling into her new life in the U.S., she was suddenly confronted with the most difficult chapter of her life.

In March of 2025, Shehnaz learned that her father had been diagnosed with stage-4 pancreatic cancer. Processing this heartbreaking reality, she wanted nothing more than to be with her family. “I was desperately attempting to fly back to my home country to see him — and at the same time, I was facing serious immigration challenges that added fear, uncertainty, and emotional exhaustion to an already unbearable situation,” she remembers.

In those devastating moments, Avant was there for her. “When I felt helpless and overwhelmed, I received unwavering support from Avant. My specialist Kate, manager Paul, and Director of Immigration Saloni Kaul stood by me with compassion, urgency, and genuine care.” Their guidance and reassurance gave her strength and calm when everything else felt out of control.

Shehnaz had concerns about returning home because of uncertainty around a possible travel ban. After consulting with an immigration specialist, her concerns were addressed, and she felt reassured. She was able to travel home, spend time with her father, and return to the U.S. safely.

Taking the Leap

Despite the challenges she’s faced since moving to the USA, Shehnaz’s personal and professional life has blossomed in ways she never imagined. “Living and working in the U.S. has been life-changing,” she affirms. Now in South Texas, she has continued to grow her skills. She’s taken on a leadership role as a charge nurse and received a Nurse of the Year award. Outside of work, Shehnaz finds time to travel with her family, spend quality time with her children, and stay close to her faith and community.

As she reflects on her journey, Shehnaz offers this piece of advice to other aspiring globally educated nurses: “Stay focused, patient, and persistent. The process may seem challenging at first, but with proper guidance, continuous learning, and a positive mindset, it is achievable.”

Her story is a reminder that nurses everywhere not only build fulfilling careers for themselves, but also play a vital role in delivering compassionate care and supporting strong, resilient healthcare teams—proving that even the most challenging journeys can lead to lasting impact.

What does it take to leave everything you’ve ever known and start over in a new country?

For Rebby, it meant stepping into the unknown leaving the familiarity of the Philippines and Bataan and starting over in Georgia, USA. Driven by determination and faith, she set out to build a better future for her family, no matter the challenges.

Rebby never expected to find her true calling in healthcare. But caring for patients from all walks of life deeply inspired her, and she was soon drawn to the dynamic, challenging world of surgical nursing. “We serve as vital advocates and protectors for patients at their most vulnerable,” Rebby reflects.

Rebby’s Journey

The journey to America wasn’t easy. Rebby explored opportunities in other countries and faced many setbacks along the way. It was her sister who encouraged her to take a chance on the United States. “Despite the uncertainty of the pandemic in 2021, I decided to partner with Avant because of their reputation for being incredibly supportive. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.” The process was long and often discouraging, but Rebby’s hope for her family’s future kept her moving forward. With the help of Avant Healthcare Professionals, she navigated paperwork, interviews, and the emotional challenge of leaving home.

Arriving in the U.S. brought new challenges, but also new support. Training in Casselberry and hands-on guidance during her deployment helped Rebby adjust and thrive. “The level of care and organization Avant provided exceeded all my expectations,” she recalls. Regular check-ins brought comfort as her family settled into a new culture and community.

Rebby in the U.S.

After successfully completing her contract with Avant, Rebby became a full-time OR nurse at the very hospital where she began her US-RN career. She balances the demands of night shifts with motherhood—always making sure she’s there for her children in the mornings as her spouse heads to work. The independence and excitement of her job, especially during emergency and trauma cases, have only deepened her love for nursing. Quick thinking and calm under pressure have become her trademarks.

Adjusting to life in America hasn’t been easy. “Learning to balance work with life outside the comforts we have back home is essential to adjusting successfully,” Rebby says. Yet, she sees endless opportunities to learn, grow, and advance her career.

Rebby’s Advice for Nurses

Rebby’s advice to anyone considering a similar journey: “Have confidence in the process. It can be hard and draining, but the outcome is worth every step. Keep praying without ceasing, and never let go of your faith.”

“He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.” — Philippians 1:6

Rebby’s journey is ongoing. With every patient she helps, every challenge she overcomes, and every new milestone she achieves, she reminds us that true strength comes from persistence, hope, and the everyday acts of care that make a difference.

I was having doubts on going abroad, because I couldn’t leave my then 4-year old son.”

From Dream to Reality

Jazmine, a Registered Nurse from the Philippines, had always envisioned herself working as a nurse in the US. As a child, she would spend her days watching American medical dramas, dreaming of one day working in facilities like those she saw on screen. Now with a child of her own, she was ready to follow that dream and provide a better future for her family.

Working at a teaching hospital in Manila, she was introduced to the idea of moving to the USA with Avant Healthcare Professionals by a colleague. But like many internationally educated healthcare professionals, Jazmine found the decision to leave a difficult one to manage. “I was having doubts on going abroad, because I couldn’t leave my then 4-year-old son”. She recalled.

US RN Journey

Jazmine followed her heart, and in 2017, she applied with Avant and began her US-RN journey. The path to the USA can be a long one. It requires lots of patience and the ability to handle new challenges and events that can be thrown your way. This was doubly true for Jazmine – while in the US immigration process, she welcomed her second child into her family. As challenging as juggling a nursing career, a move to the USA, and motherhood can be, Jazmine persevered and was grateful for the support she received. “Avant was very good at answering any questions I had. They were very helpful. They even considered waiting for my son to be born and get his passport before they filed my case”. For nurses like Jazmine, that level of support provides a strong foundation on which to build.

After completing Avant’s transitions program in Florida, Jazmine began her US-RN career at her new assignment hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. “I was assigned to a Med-Surg unit in a teaching hospital. In the Philippines, I had also worked at a teaching hospital.. For Jazmine, adjusting to nursing practice in the USA has been a challenge, but a rewarding one. “Nursing practice here has offered new opportunities. I feel like we have more autonomy, and the doctors truly value our opinions.” That sense of professional respect fueled her confidence and growth. Now Jazmine’s life and career in the USA continue to flourish.

Living in the U.S.

Outside of work, Jazmine is taking advantage of all that her new home has to offer. “It took us a while, but it has been a great help to have fellow Avant nurses here in Tulsa. We really like it a lot here because it’s not too big of a city. There’s not much traffic, but it has enough places and parks that keep us busy.” she says. Meanwhile at her facility, she has become not only a permanent member of staff but also a charge nurse in the Med-Surg unit, as well as a part time PACU RN.

“Living in the US has improved our lives – not just financially, but also in terms of work-life balance. We’ve been able to travel out of the country and also to other states.” She says. Looking back on all that she has achieved in the last few years, Jazmine is sure that she has made the right decision to move with her family to the USA.

For the many more healthcare professionals in the process of moving to the USA, or still yet to take the first step, Jazmine offers this piece of advice: “Be patient, I think waiting is the biggest challenge. I worked on my application I think for two years – sometimes it felt like nothing is happening! Just hold onto your dream, and when you are ready it will come.”

Jazmine is just one of the thousands of US-RNs who have transformed their careers and transformed their lives with Avant Healthcare Professionals. Follow in her footsteps and apply today!

In the fast-paced world of healthcare, a patient’s condition can change at any moment, or a routine procedure can present an unforeseen complication. When the textbook answers fall short, what separates a good outcome from a bad one? The answer is critical thinking, the single most powerful tool an RN utilizes. This isn’t a soft skill, but a lifesaving competency that empowers nurses to confidently navigate complexity, enhance patient safety, and drive better clinical outcomes. This article explores practical strategies to sharpen this essential skill, preparing you for anything the clinical setting throws your way.

What Is Clinical Critical Thinking?

A critical-thinking nurse sees the whole patient, not just a list of symptoms. As the Journal of Nursing Advances in Clinical Sciencesdefines it, “Critical thinking is the purposeful and self-regulated judgment that develops during clinical reasoning and patient problem-solving.” Consider these two experiences shared by Avant’s Clinical Operations Managers. First, Jennifer Dye, BSN, BA, RNC-OB, C-EFM, from her time on a night shift handoff:

“I was taking care of a patient with bilateral femur fractures. The patient appeared drowsy and lethargic but was considered stable by the outgoing nurse. Despite the assumption that the symptoms were due to pain medication, I had a strong intuition that something was not right. Instead of dismissing the signs, I escalated my concerns through the proper chain of command. My advocacy led to a V/Q scan, which revealed not just one, but multiple pulmonary emboli.”

Whether you’re a seasoned nurse or a new graduate, these skills form the essential foundation of every nurse’s practice. As Priscilla Brumbaugh, BSN, RN, NE-BC, a Senior Clinical Operations Manager at Avant, shared from her early career, a similar scenario proved to be a life-saving moment:

Nursing Strategy

“I had a patient who had recently undergone a hip replacement. He was showing subtle signs of distress, like anxiety and shortness of breath. His oxygen saturation dropped from 100% to 93%. Despite normal vital signs, I had a strong sense that something was wrong. After speaking with the charge nurse, followed by persistent advocacy, the physician ordered a V/Q scan, which confirmed the patient had a pulmonary embolism. If it weren’t for my multiple escalation efforts, the patient would have had a fatal outcome.”

Nursing Skills

A task-oriented nurse might only note the “normal” vital signs. However, a critical-thinking nurse connects clues like anxiety, a drop in oxygen, and recent surgery. Both Jennifer and Priscilla trusted their instincts and escalated concerns, which is an example of clinical reasoning in action. This demonstrates key expert nursing skills outlined by the American Nurses Association (ANA):

Clinical Judgment and Patient Safety: Critical thinking is the foundation of sound clinical judgment. It’s what allows you to prioritize a patient’s needs and adjust as their condition changes. In both stories, the nurses’ critical thinking led them to prioritize the patient’s subtle but concerning symptoms over the seemingly normal objective data. Their judgment that something was wrong and their subsequent actions ultimately prevented harm and saved their patients’ lives.

Communication and Collaboration: Clinical reasoning involves clear communication and effective collaboration to ensure optimal patient outcomes. After assessing their patients, both nurses’ critical thinking led them to consult with their colleagues and persist in communicating their concerns to the physicians. Their ability to articulate their instincts and advocate for their patients was crucial in securing the necessary diagnostic tests.

Problem-Solving Skills: Critical thinking is active problem-solving. It involves analyzing an issue, considering alternatives, and implementing solutions. Both nurses recognized subtle symptoms, questioned normal vitals, and advocated for diagnostic tests.

Overcoming Barriers to Critical Thinking in Nursing

Even experienced nurses face challenges that can hinder critical thinking. To effectively address these challenges, it’s important to first recognize common barriers. Here are some frequent obstacles and ways to overcome them:

Cultural Differences and Clinical Autonomy

In some countries, healthcare is structured around a stricter hierarchy, where nurses are expected to follow direct orders without questioning. The U.S. system, however, encourages nurses to act as a patient’s advocate and to use their clinical judgment to challenge orders or escalate concerns. This shift from a more passive role to an active one can be a significant cultural adjustment.

Time Pressure

In a fast-paced U.S. hospital, the immediate demands of a high patient-to-nurse ratio can overshadow the time needed for deeper analysis and reflection, especially when you’re still getting used to new protocols and technology.

Cognitive Overload

Constantly processing multiple patient needs, new admissions, and team communications in an unfamiliar language and system can lead to a state where there’s little mental bandwidth left for critical analysis.

Fear of Speaking Up

This can be a significant barrier, as the fear of being wrong or questioning a senior colleague or physician can be amplified by a fear of appearing incompetent or misunderstanding a situation due to a language or cultural barrier.

Lack of Mentorship

Without an experienced guide who understands the unique challenges of your transition, it can be challenging to navigate complex cases and receive the constructive feedback necessary to develop and refine critical-thinking skills.

Strategies to Sharpen your Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is a skill that can be developed through intentional practice and the right support. Avant Clinical Operations Manager, Paul Barkhau BSN, RN, CCRN, emphasizes the following habits that can help you overcome these barriers and strengthen this essential skill.

Reflective Practice

After each shift, take a moment to reflect on your decisions. What went well? What could have been handled differently? A simple tool like reflective journaling can help you formalize this process, building self-awareness and sharpening your judgment over time.

Ask Clinical Questions

Don’t hesitate to ask “why” when performing a task. Understanding the purpose behind each action helps you move from task-oriented to outcome-driven thinking. Paul explains, “It’s not just about completing the task, it’s about understanding the reason behind it and what you’re trying to accomplish.”

Leverage Mentorship and Collaboration

Paul emphasizes the importance of learning through mentorship. He encourages nurses to engage with charge nurses and senior staff, ask questions, and seek feedback. Reviewing charts with intention, checking parameters on orders, and aligning them with the overall clinical goal are key habits he instills in his HCPs.

Know Your Chain of Command

Critical thinking also means knowing when and how to escalate concerns. Paul advises nurses to be familiar with resources like the Rapid Response Team (RRT) and to act when something does not look right. “If something feels off, trust your instincts and escalate through the proper channels,” he says.

These strategies help transform your approach from task completion to making informed, patient-centered decisions, which are crucial for thriving in complex clinical settings.

Global Impact Day in Manila and Cebu

Avant’s mission extends far beyond workplace excellence; it reaches into communities around the world, especially the places their healthcare professionals call home. This year’s Global Impact Day brought that mission to life in the Philippines, where volunteers dedicated their time and compassion to support children, families, and local organizations in Manila and Cebu.

Making a Difference in Manila

In Manila, Avant partnered with ChildHope, an organization deeply committed to improving the lives of children in vulnerable street situations. Their Kalyenderia Mobile Clinic travels directly into the communities that need healthcare most.

With guidance from the ChildHope team, Avant volunteers took part in:

Health checkups

Medicine distribution

Health education for children

These efforts ensured that young people lacking access to essential medical care received immediate support, meeting them with compassion right where they live and play.

Supporting Young Focus: Building Healthy Habits and Confidence

Avant also collaborated with Young Focus, a nonprofit focused on education and empowerment for children living in disadvantaged communities.

During their Healthy Heroes event, volunteers played an active role in:

Leading activities

Engaging children in fun, meaningful interactions

Encouraging healthy habits

Helping build confidence and a strong sense of community

This partnership created a positive space where children could feel supported, energized, and inspired to take care of their well‑being.

Sharing Hope and Support in Cebu

In Cebu, Global Impact Day centered on a powerful mission of compassion and care. Avant partnered with Everlasting Hope, an organization that supports children battling cancer and their families.

Together, they carried out a free medical and dental mission serving:

Parents

Caregivers

Siblings

Young patients

With leadership from the Everlasting Hope team, Avant volunteers assisted with logistics, provided care support, and spent meaningful time with the children receiving treatment. Their presence offered comfort, connection, and encouragement to families navigating one of life’s most challenging experiences.

A Shared Mission: Changing Lives One Community at a Time

Global Impact Day is a reminder that meaningful change happens when communities come together with purpose.

Because of Avant’s volunteers and the local organizations that led the way, children received healthcare, families felt supported, and communities experienced hope and connection.

One community at a time, lives are being changed. And this is only the beginning.

Ready to Be Part of What’s Next?

For countless families across the Visayas region of the Philippines, Cebu City is the critical hub for childhood cancer. For those who have children battling cancer, Cebu City is the essential, yet distant, hub for cancer care. Many families must travel long hours, leave behind jobs, and navigate unfamiliar environments, all while supporting a child in the fight for their life. Upon arrival, some families face daily housing costs that exceed twice the average daily wage, making it exceptionally difficult to focus on the lifesaving care their child desperately needs.

This is where Everlasting Hope Childhood Cancer Mission becomes a lifeline. Providing a free, safe, and nurturing place to stay, Everlasting Hope does more than offer housing, it cultivates a compassionate community where families can rest, find emotional support, and draw strength during their most challenging moments.

To bring this vision to life, we assembled a passionate team of Avant nurses and Avant scholars, partnering with local doctors, dentists, and pharmacists to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to those who need it most.

Together, our volunteers supported 306 mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and community members in countless ways. They provided health screenings, distributed essential food staples, and ushered families efficiently between stations with care. They offered simple but powerful acts of kindness like caring for babies while their parents received their medical and dental checkups and created fun, safe spaces where children could enjoy painting, dancing, and playing.

At Avant Healthcare Professionals, we believe in the power of future healthcare leaders and the vital role nurses play in shaping healthier communities. That’s why we’re committed to supporting nursing students in the pivotal final year of their program through the Dream. Become. Inspire. Nursing Scholarship. This scholarship provides tuition coverage and a stipend for living expenses, so financial challenges don’t hold them back from reaching their full potential. More than just financial support, the scholarship is designed to be a transformative experience, offering leadership development, community engagement opportunities, and one-on-one mentorship to empower students both personally and professionally. We are proud to have awarded over 200 scholarships to students in the Philippines and around the world who simply needed the right support at a critical moment in their journey.

Among the first to receive the scholarship in the Philippines is Danica, a nursing student whose quiet strength and unwavering determination reflect the heart of the scholarship’s mission.

Danica, an only child raised by supportive parents, worked tirelessly to pursue her nursing degree at Philippine Advent College. As financial struggles grew, her dream began to fade, until she was awarded the Dream. Become. Inspire. Nursing Scholarship.

“I was overwhelmed. I couldn’t even speak. I wanted to shout, cry, and laugh all at the same time. Thank you, Avant, for choosing me. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for the life-changing opportunity!”

When Danica first joined the program and began her mentorship sessions with Avant’s Global Impact team, she spoke with a soft, hesitant voice. There was uncertainty in her words; not from lack of passion, but from not yet knowing the strength she carried inside.

“Every time I was asked to share how I was doing, it helped me reflect, express, and slowly grow into someone more confident. Those calls didn’t just help me improve my communication skills, they reminded me of the values I was raised with. They grounded me.”

Over time, there was a powerful transformation. Danica began mentoring junior students, taking initiative during clinical rotations, and consistently received positive feedback from her peers and mentors for her efficiency and compassion. That praise gradually became confidence that turned into leadership.

Yet, Danica never sought the spotlight. Naturally soft-spoken and a bit reserved, she admits that socializing doesn’t always come easy, but she is someone willing to step beyond her comfort zone for something bigger than herself.

Recently, Danica bravely traveled to Manila to volunteer at Manila Central University’s 120th Anniversary Community Outreach Medical Mission where she served alongside many volunteers, students, and healthcare professionals to provide checkups and care for hundreds of members of the community. It was more than a volunteer experience; it was a testament to how much she has grown.

From a quiet voice filled with self-doubt to a graduate ready to embrace her calling, Danica’s story is a reminder that confidence doesn’t come all at once; it grows with every act of courage, every kind word, and every opportunity to rise.

“I can truly say I enjoyed my final year as a nursing student. You didn’t just make my dream come true; you made me feel that I am seen, capable, and trusted. I’m truly proud to say I am an Avant Scholar.
