Avene – ‘Weeds’ music video

Weeds, my latest music video. I originally shot this back in May 2012, but never got around to finishing it until now. The weeds were all growing in our backyard at the time, but I’ve since removed them all and tidied up the place. It was lucky I shot the footage for this video while they were there.

For the music I actually recorded a vocal around the same time as I first started putting the video together. It remained, although I replaced the drums and bass from the original version of the music. If any of you are wondering what I’m saying, well, I’m not saying anything. Essentially with this track I’ve used my voice as an instrument. So no lyrics. Oh, and no Autotune or any of that stuff either, but a couple of words may have been reversed.

My second video here from a series that I’m now producing on a daily basis. This one was shot around the roof of a car park in Manly. I’ve been visiting this car park for many years, as you get quite a decent view up there, and there are never any cars around. Being the top floor, they normally don’t bother driving all the way up there.

I didn’t start on the music for this track until about 9:30pm. I currently have my studio set up to use my iPad as my keyboard MIDI controller to save on space, but annoyingly can’t get it to work without playing stuck notes all the time. And since Studio One has no way of dealing with stuck notes (a panic button would be nice), it’s not really going too well. But I eventually used an app called Beat Surfing with a preset that doesn’t normally have the stuck note problem. So for the next track, I think I’ll plug in my keyboard again.

Finally I’m back to recording my own music and shooting my own music videos too. This is the first of many.

“It’s getting smaller” – Opening line from this video, courtesy of some kid screaming while I was shooting.

I went for a walk to the Botanic Gardens in Sydney today with my father in law, sister in law and cousin in law. Although my wife stayed at home. I’d already started working on the music for this track before I left home. So decided I’d shoot the footage for the video around the Botanic Gardens.

All shot on the Sony NEX5N and edited in Sony Vegas. Music created using Presonus Studio One. As I’ve done a few times in the past, I used audio from the video footage and used that in the music also.

Kerser – ‘The Last Hope’ music video

‘The Last Hope’, another one take Kerser video here. This one’s done really well, picking up a larger number of plays slightly quicker than a few of his other videos.

The video itself was shot in his car. The only light source was the light inside the car, so it was quite dark. But thankfully it came out looking quite nice, although I did have to make some serious video levels adjustments to give the shot more contrast. From memory I shot it at 800 ISO, although it could have been 1600 ISO.

Mr Zux feat. DJ Kimani – ‘Pay Attention (Soul Remix)’ music video

This is an older Mr Zux video from 2 or 3 years ago. Originally we recorded the track and shot the video the same day. So Zux was still kind of learning his lines as we shot this!

The version here is a remix though. I’ve actually retweaked the video edit a fair amount too, just to bring the edits more into time, as a few few were a bit off in the original.

Sarm feat. Rinse – ‘Global Warming’ music video

This was the second video I made for Sarm. The track also feature Rinse from the Bingethinkers providing the first verse. Nebs appears in the clip also.

Sarm had picked out some nice locations for this video as you can see. I’m quite happy with how the edits turned out too. Enjoy!

Kerser – ‘Why They Angry’ music video

Kerser’s ‘Why They Angry’ video, the 2nd video I shot for him at night time. This one was filmed in an abandoned car park. The lens I used was the same lens I use for most of Kerser’s videos, Fujian f1.7 35mm CCTV lens. Although it’s not the sharpest, it’s probably my favourite lens.

Some film grain was added in post, although the colour grade isn’t far off what was recorded on the camera. I like how this one has a cooler look.

Deadset 2, the first one take video I shot for Kerser. Nebs who produced the track called me up the afternoon before while I was still in Melbourne. Anyway, the next day I found myself on a beach in Wollongong shooting this thing. It came out quite nice, and has done pretty well promoting Kerser’s shows.
