Now, lego wouldn’t be our usual kind of feature. But you know us, we like anything quirky or that bit different. And as we are huge Lord of the Rings fans, we just couldn’t leave this alone. Combining one of the great film series of all time with our favourite childhood toy, then I am afraid you have us!

Recently leaked photos taken by a fan in Germany show just what we can expect when the official sets land later this year. As you can see from one of the shots, this was a very secret display, but they seemed to forget to put a roof on it!

The set seems to feature all of the characters you would expect, as well as various location scenes. Check out the pictures and let us know what you think.

For us, the range is a little, erm, beige. Take the small front label off and this could well be any underwear range from any middle of the road retailer. Disappointed? Yes indeed we are!

Footballer David Beckham has teamed up with H&M for an exclusive new underwear range, with the TV advert debuting during the Super Bowl on 5th February. It’s an interesting move for H&M who have primarily concentrated on online advertising in the past and veered away from prime-time TV. The superbowl ad alone is said to cost them over $2 million. But with the draw of David Beckham in skimpy white boxers, and all of the potential additional advertising time that successful Superbowl ads can attract, this could be a winner for H & M.

Now, we havent managed to see any of the range yet, which will go on sale in H&M Stores from 2 February but we get a glimpse (a small one, cough…) from the ad preview below. The line will mainly include boxers and briefs, but will also feature vests, shorts and t-shirts.

This coming weekend, the rugby population of the northern hemisphere goes nuts as the six nations begins when the French take on Italy in Paris, with changes in personnel, in management, and in players, it promises to be an exciting tournament. Lets look at each side and my predictions on places.

6th – Italy

I would love for Italy to do better than last, but unfortunately I can’t see it. They are still not a complete team and rely too heavily on the leadership of Sergio Parisse. Could scrape a win against Scotland, and may give another side a scare. But I predict no wins and a big wooden spoon for the Azurri.

Player to Watch – Luca Morisi The 21 Year old centre is in fine form this season and fully deserves his call up to the senior squad. Expect him to make a start against the French and turn some heads. Definitely one for the future.

5th – Scotland

Scotland have a point to prove after their abysmal world cup campaign, and they have the best possible chance to turn over a new look England side in their first game at Murrayfield. It will be interesting to see who Andy Robinson selects to face the red rose. With Ross Ford being handed the captaincy there seems to be no room for previous captain Alistair Kellock. Will Robinson decide to put more faith in the Edinburgh players he has in the squad after their great performances in the Heineken cup, or mix things up even further? Only time will tell. Will beat the Italians and may surprise the Irish but that will be the lot.

Player to watch – Lee Jones The Edinburgh wing is on fire at the moment, and has ripped a few defences apart already this season. I expect him to take a wing berth and possibly embarrass Chris Ashton.

4th – Ireland

The top 4 are going to be very close this year. But I think Ireland will be at the bottom of them. For the first time in the competitions 11 year history the Emerald Isle will be without the mercurial Brian O’Driscoll, which leaves a massive hole in the Irish midfield. Coach Declan Kidney will probably choose Keith Earls to fill the void. But his defensive frailties have been exposed by Manu Tuilagi and others in recent years so it could be a bad move. A tight win against the Italians and Scottish and possibly a win over the French. But will remain in fourth. Kidney has made no changes to the squad that bombed out of the world cup – and I think that is a major mistake.

Player to watch – None There are no new faces in the Irish squad.

3rd – France

New coach Phillipe Saint-Andre will want to banish the off-field issues surrounding the last world cup campaign under previous coach Marc Lievremont. However, he will be looking to build on an impressive display that almost won them the Webb Ellis Trophy. Much will rely on the form of Captain Thierry Dusatoir and Imanol Harrinordoquay, both are amazing footballers and have the ability to dominate a game. However I think a Welsh side out for revenge and a youthful England will come out on top.

Player to watch – Wesley Fofana The centre is performing well for Clermont, and would be an ideal partner for his club team mate Aurélien Rougerie.

2nd – England

Possibly being slightly biased, but I am hoping that this new look England will upset a few sides. They will turn up to Murrayfield with no arrogance and no divine right to win a game, they will be hungry to win. Interim head coach Stuart Lancaster named Halequins Flanker Chris Robshaw the successor to Lewis Moody as captain on Monday, this was rumoured to be Tom Wood but a toe injury has ruled him out the first 2 weeks of the tournament. However Lancaster believes many other players on the pitch should be leaders as well. Key men will be Ben Youngs and Toby Flood, the Leicester duo need to get the forwards working and the backline moving forward.

Player to Watch – Owen Farrell The son of the Rugby League great Andy Farrell is starting to step out his fathers massive shadow and is proving that he is the real deal. Seen currently as the long term option at number 10 for country, he has been operating outside compatriot Charlie Hodgson at 12 for club side Saracens. I would expect Lancaster to play Farrell at 12 to give him more time to make decisions.

1st – Wales

Captain Sam Warburton and his Welsh side will be firing on all cylinders after their exit at the semi finals of the world cup after promising so much. Warburton in particular will be looking to put behind him the red card that put them at a disadvantage against the French. I don’t expect them to take a grand slam, they could be beaten by an Irish side looking to avenge their defeat from the world cup. But they will score enough points to take it. Without Shane Williams in the side they will have to look to George North to start to achieve his potential as a devastating finisher.

Player to Watch – Harry Robinson The Rookie Blues wing is probably too young to get the nod over Leigh Halfpenny or George North, but is a very exciting prospect for the future, hopefully if he gets a chance we can see his class on the big stage.

Spartacus led the gladiators of the ludus owned by the House of Batiatus, in a revolt against their masters. This followed a series of traumatic events whereby Spartacus fights his way to the top of the gladiatorial food-chain and finds out that his beloved wife is enslaved and subsequently murdered, a plot concocted by his owner – Batiatus. Its also worth knowing that, in the prequel series, Gannicus was the champion who won his freedom through combat, and will be making a return to the fore.

If you’re a fan of the show you won’t need much convincing to tune in for yet another series of blood, guts and nudity. And of course featuring the following lovelies.

Well yesterday HBO released their latest trailer, and already hitting nearly 1 millions views, series 2 is sure to be a massive success! The trailer suggests that Season 2 will become even more of a power struggle and with the major player likely to be the awesome Peter Dinklage who plays Tyrion Lannister. And of course we are stoked to see the stunning beautfiul Emilia Clarke return to our screens as Daenerys Targaryen

Mazzoni

The Mazzoni have been around for a while, mumering under the surface, and if you are based in the North West you would have no doubt caught them at some point or another. Supporting the likes of Madness and the Sugarbabes as various times. The indie band take their inspiration from the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Oasis, using heavy guitar rifts under a hotbed and husky toned vocals.

Originally forming some 6 years ago as a 5 piece, various re-incarnations now leave Mazzoni as a 4 peice with 2 original members, Mark Rothery on lead vocals & rhythm guitar and Steven Tubman on lead guitar & backing vocals. New members are Mike Proud on bass and Gav Amor on drums.

Nina Baker

If you like your music a little more chilled and angelic, then go no further that the extremely talented Nina Baker. Tipped for big things in 2012, she is about to launch her first EP (Friday 3rd February in Norwich) and will then dart off to record her first full album under the guiding mind of Nick Brine (Oasis, Stone Roses, KT Tunstall.)

With a Kate Bush, Adele, Alanis Moorissette vibe, singer, pianist and song writer Nina is expected to make a rather big splash. I was actually lucky enough to convince her to perform in my living room at the end of last year for my birthday. It WILL be my claim to fame in years to come!

De’Vide

By contrast to the others in our list, De’Vide are the next kids on the block. Joining forces in 201, MC Lexi Lex teams up with long time friend Barny Holmes to create a quite unique 2 piece. Already being featured multiple times on BBC Radio in the last few months and appearing in a bunch on London underground clubs, will 2012 be their year?

With a fair bit of talent, an acoustic guitar and boy band (sorry!) looks, the are sure to go far. Check out their recent drunken night bus performance below which is currently doing the rounds on YouTube (poor camera angle mind!)

Keep an eye out for these guys in 2012, and we of course wish them every success.

For years now we have been snowboarding with both feet attached to the board. And to be honest at no point have we had a problem with this (well, the odd skier!). Prepare yourself for some ‘outside of the box’ thinking from the guys at Dual Snowboards. They have created a unique and new snowboarding experience by creating independent boards for each foot. You attach yourself to each board with the usual bindings and snowboard boots but have complete freedom to move both legs as skiers do (but ultimately still look cooler ;-).

On first inspection it looks completely bizarre. However, the more you watch the promo vid and think of the freestyle opportunities they create these really are some cool pieces of kit. No more getting stuck on the long flats watching skiers sail by with their poles. Now you can run along and be on the move again within seconds.

The CEO of Dual snowboards has stated that the new boards have not been created to replace the traditional snowboard but instead to create a cool new style of boarding that will really push forward the freestyle world. They are also reported to improve your balance and strength when you get back onto a full size board. A cool idea and one that we are super keen to try out…. on an upcoming boarding trip to Austria….. on 4th Feb…. 2012…. in 9 days time….

By no means is Netflix tiny, as the statistics prove. But stats don’t tell the whole, or even half of the story. What is Netflix like to use?

Signing up couldn’t be easier, and you can even register through your Facebook account if you so wish. One benefit to this is that you can share with everyone what you are watching, as well as what you’ve rated films and tv shows. On the downside, you may accidentally let it slip that you’ve spent the past few days catching up on Desperate Housewives or Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, rather than catching some kick ass Chuck Norris and losing man-points. Of course, you can quite easily choose not to share your viewing habits. So with the opt-out, I’d say this is a solid positive.

Netflix is also relatively cheap for the unlimited streaming services that it offers, at only £5.99 a month with 1 month’s free trial. With this unlimited streaming service you also get the option for HD streaming, something that can make a world of difference if your connection can handle it! You may not even miss watching DVDs or Blurays if you can stream your movies in that quality instantly. In fact, I used to be an avid DVD collector and at its peak had over 350 DVDs in my library. Whilst some of you may scoff, if you live in less than palatial settings, 350 DVDs can be a right pain in the arse for storage! What I have found to be beneficial whilst streaming through my PS3, is that it will stream in HD where possible, and if the bandwidth is being eaten up by another greedy member of the household it’ll drop down a level, yet jump back up should enough bandwidth become available again.

Netflix is great for US import TV shows of which I am a huge fan. I don’t think there are any UK shows that can hold a torch to the great drama coming from across the pond in the form of Dexter or Breaking Bad, let alone hit the height of comedy that is Arrested Development. In fact, even if you have no intention of subscribing to Netflix in the long term, the very fact it is practically giving you all of Arrested Development for free for a month is reason to sign up. Hell, Netflix is the company that is resurrecting the funniest show in TV history. Enough fanboy-ism there though. It does also have great UK shows such as the Inbetweeners, Peepshow, Top Gear and the IT Crowd on offer as well. The movie side of Netflix is, in my opinion, a let down though. They don’t seem to be on the ball when it comes to picking up new movies for streaming, especially when compared to UK alternative Lovefilm. Latest movies on Netflix currently include The Expendables, The Switch and The International – certainly not keeping pace with Lovefilm in that department, and absolutely not what one would consider world beating films you just have to watch! In fact, I’d be very careful to avoid them. Given their Netflix’s buying power I can only see them going from strength to strength in the UK acquiring movies if need be, but definitely more in the way of domestic TV shows.

The interface for Netflix is pretty darn good. Its very simple, easily defined genres, and it makes a real attempt to get to know you and your preferences. It’ll compile lists of things you’ve already seen without their services and use the ratings you give them to suggest further viewing. It also allows you to pick genres and sub-genres of your favourite viewing habits. For example, I love a good comedy, but from time-to-time I go looking for those particularly oddball comedies which just are a little bit more bonkers: BASEketball for example. Netflix provides a sub-category on your homepage with suggestions along those lines, as well as similar shows to ones you’ve recently been watching. Considering a lot of what it has are US imports you may not know or have had the chance to see, this is a great way to get into what your American cousins are watching. Everything looks smooth as well, and is standardised across each platform. Admittedly I had some trouble having it working on my iPad, some random errors stopped it from working the first day, and then with my Galaxy S2 as well, yet my iPhone took to it like a duck to water.

This is a streaming only service. Lovefilm gives you options for receiving physical DVDs and Blurays. Plenty of you want to keep getting discs as it makes life more manageable, the quality consistently high and reliable, and it is a very easy system to understand. I get that. Also, a lot of you are pirates, lets not play games. You download torrents or use filesharing sites and forums like the now defunct MegaUpload. You are probably going to be the most interested in this service as it will be a legitmate way to get what you want. Some of you already stream like feinds, but from dodgy sites like alluc or tvlinks, which are being hounded by the authorities and legal dogs as well. This should be given a go, see if it bests the low quality streams you’re probably using at the moment.

The rest of you should at least give it a go. Its free for a month, as is Lovefilm. Hell, try one, then try the other. See what you think and let us know. If streaming isn’t for you then fair enough. For me, its the way forward and for now, it looks like Netflix is my favourite.

If you are follower of many entertainment stars or sports personalities on twitter, you may have heard a few people talking about the EA Triple A card – or the EA Black Card as some people call it. The smart people at Electronic Arts have created a members only club that allows the rich, famous or just darn well connected special privileges through triple-a.ea.com. As you can imagine, not alot on that URL, and whatever you click you are asked for your username and password.

A reliable source (we know someone with their mits on one) has informed AJB that it allows the card owner access to free EA games for life, from their extensive back catalougue AND it includes all new releases. Much like the infamous Nando’s black card, the companies themselves are being quite tight lipped on the subject. However where the chicken card owners have kept very quiet on social networking sites. Music Stars Tinie Tempah & Labrinth, cricketer Stuart Broad, footballers Shaun Wright-Phillips & Anton Ferdinand and rugby player Ben Youngs have all tweeted photos of their EA Triple A card quite recently.
