Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Patch Update

Yup this one is heartbreaking for me personally. Considering I have over 8,000 kills with my go to – the B23R. Treyarch finally nerfed the crap out of it and the KAP40. Although I understand the need for game balancing. I just wish they did it um… like 8,000 kills ago? Seriously though? I’m very happy that Treyarch/Activision are still trying to patch the game and make it a better experience for everyone.

FREE DLC Trial – Revolution

Still on the fence on whether you want to purchase the map packs? For the first time in Call of Duty history they are offering a free trial run of the DLC Pack Revolution. Only available this weekend for Xbox 360 players. Unknown at this time on whether this will be offered on other systems as of this writing.

New Customization Packs

Of course if you pre-order the upcoming Call of Duty Ghosts game you can get the Ghost camo set for Black Ops 2. Treyarch/Activision are going to be introducing two more packs to the game. The twist? We can vote for them! Well more specifically Xbox 360 players can right now. It is unsure if the rest of the COD community will be able to after the 30 day time frame.  Xbox 360 players should get a vote window after the usual Community Update screen you normally see when you boot into Multi Player mode. (You know that screen you try and mash the button to bypass all the time?)

If your Internet is slow, it could be due to software over-usage. Apply three quick software fixes to apply more speed to your system.

•  Add-ons: Browser add-ons may negatively affect Internet speeds and performance. Try disabling your add-ons to see how well your computer runs without them. Look for specific slow add-ons by disabling them one at a time.
•  Memory: Your browser remembers things about you. It will store pages you visit, passwords and programs you’ve downloaded. Clear this memory out regularly, because all that storage space can slow your Internet connection. Visit your browser setting to clear history and memory cache.
•  Open programs: Check your system tray to see what’s running in the background. You may have unnecessary programs running every time you turn on your computer. Clear these out by managing your Start menu folder, and erasing or moving those programs you don’t need.

Finally the wait is over! PS3 and PC players get to enjoy the newest DLC Uprising. Take a look below on what your going to get and how to get it!

Magma

This map takes place in a modern Japanese village when a Volcano explodes and adds that extra danger when playing this map. Molten Lava is going to either be your friend or foe depending on how well you can watch out for it in this map!

Encore

Set in an outdoor festival in London. You get to take center stage and show the other team who’s boss! With long sight lines if you can control center stage you will own the crowd – with your bullets lol. This map also has some tighter paths in the outlying tents and stands.

Vertigo

Taking place in an mega high rise in India this one is reminiscent of other maps like MW2′s “High Rise” or MW3′s “Hardhat”. In this map you play across a VTOL landing pad and the terminal. You can also jump to different areas in the map. Beware though one false move will have you falling to your death!

Studio

This one is an homage to the original Black Ops “Firing Range”. This time taken to a backlot studio in Hollywood. But this is no Universal Studio Tour. Sure you will get to see the different backdrops like the Old West, an Alien Invasion, Dinosaurs from the Jurassic period, and even a Castle from medieval times. You’ll be too busy trying to take the high ground or staying alive as you try and out flank your opponents!

New Zombie Episode – “Mob of the Dead”

Treyarch brings back classic mobsters with Zombies! How much better can it get than that? With the voicings of Ray Liotta, Chazz Palminteri, and Michael Madsen (and a Joe P?). What else could make it more badass? Set it in Alcatraz – an island where there is no way off of it! I might have to play me some Zombies when this comes out.

New Game Mode Arms Race

The new game mode is essentially just Core Team Deathmatch. The twist? You earn 150 points per kill instead of the normal 100. The reason for this game mode? Well Treyarch listened to the community bitching about not being able to easily obtain higher scorestreaks in TDM so in response they bumped up the points. Now if you can kill with the best of them? You can get your Dogs in Arms Race before the match is over!

Google announced that it will be ending their CPA (Cost Per Action) Advertising program July 31,2013 but will continue to provide payments and support until October. If you used them for your advertising what alternatives are available to you? There are a LOT actually but the two I would recommend that have some great opportunities are listed below.

Commission Junction – I’ve been using Commission Junction since my first website back in 2000! They have always had some great advertising possibilities for just about any niche you can think of. For my niche of gaming/hardware? I have ads running from places like Think Geek, NewEgg, Otterbox, Body Glove, GoDadddy and more! Although commission rates might not be as high as GAN – this could still be a great fit for your own niche sites.

CJ also has a Pay Per Call program. Unfortunately I haven’t used it so I can’t really go into more detail about it. This is for those who run Call promotions using an 800 number? You’ll have to check it out if you decide to sign up with them.

Rakuten (Link Share) – I started with LinkShare in 2012 and I have to say I couldn’t be happier. Not only do they have a great list of clients advertising with them there system is probably the best out there. Also not to mention you can opt to have emails sent to you whenever there is a special deal per advertiser you sign up with! Some examples that are on LinkShare? iTunes, Microsoft Store, Tiger Direct, World of Warcraft, Barnes & Noble (invite only) and more!

There is also the Lead Advantage program which will pay out flat commissions on any sign ups. I use this currently for the World of Warcraft ads you see on the site here. There are some great opportunities for those who have credit/debt type niche’s  with some great pay out commissions.

Google Reader

People went crazy over this when they found out their favorite RSS reader is going to be retired. But no fear – there are some great alternatives out there to help replace it!

Before I go into the replacement applications available. If you want to keep your Google RSS information? Google was kind enough to provide a really simple tool to be able to download/export your Google Reader data. You can go here to learn how to export it!

Flipboard – This awesome app available for both IOS and Android allows you to add your favorite RSS feeds and view them on your phone or tablet. To learn more about Flipboard I would click on the link below. It really is a slick app for reading RSS (and other content) on your phone or Tablet.

Feedly – Feedly is my favorite RSS reader already. So I wasn’t even affected when I heard that Google Reader was going bye bye.  I love this Chrome app as it not only adds my favorite RSS feeds – it displays them in some awesome ways so I can quickly scan and read entries I’m interested in.

I just saw this one as of writing this article. This excerpt taken directly from the Wikipedia site gives a great explanation of what Meebo is:

Meebo was an advertising-supported embedded social media platform.^[4] It began in 2005 as a browser based instant messaging program which supported multiple IM services, including Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, AIM, ICQ, MySpaceIM, Facebook Chat, Google Talk, CafeMom, Zorpia, and others.

The reason for ending this? To focus their resources on the Goole + sign in, and Google + Plugins? Sometimes Google doesn’t make any sense. But.. then again it is Google and they can pretty much do whatever they want now can’t they? LOL.

Although this app is being retired there are still some great alternatives out there:

Wibyia - If you still need something like this for your own site? I suggest getting the Wibyia toolbar. Although it might not have all of the features or monetization – it offers some similar services.

Trillian - If you still want an all-in-one solution for your chat needs. Then Trillian is it. Although it isn’t a web based application and you’ll have to actually install this on your computer. It really is a great app for having all of your chat programs in one.  You can go to the trillian site directly by clicking here.

Disney Infinity – Skylanders Meets Minecraft?

I started by checking out the Disney Infinity Video below for this new venture into the Disney franchise. You should take a moment below and check it out too!

If your a Disney fan like I am then you are probably jumping up and down in joy saying things like “WOW” “AWESOME” and … “WHERE DO I GET IT?”. But lets stop for a minute and get back from Never Never Land and take a closer look at this upcoming game Disney Infinity.

Skylanders

In order to better explain Infinity its important to take a look at a current game Skylanders. This is the first game of its type where you purchase not only the actual video game but you need to purchase real physical characters in order to play the video game. Its sort of like collecting Pokemon cards – turning them into 3-D characters that you can physically hold on to, then digitize them onto your TV and battle against other characters.  It really is an ingenious system of multi-merchandising.

Minecraft

Although this isn’t the first game of its type it most certainly is the most famous. Made by an indie company Mojang. This block based sandbox game that allows your little block character to do essentially whatever you feel like doing. There are no real goals in the game except to allow your imagination blossom as you explore and create in your own little block based land.

So now take both of those worlds mentioned above, mix in your favorite characters from Disney and Pixar and you will get

Disney Infinity

This new world created by Avalanche Software allows you to collect your favorite Disney and Pixar characters and play them online in a virtual world.  You can either play in the pre-created game sets or  you can play in your own world called the “Toy Box”. This sandbox inspired game allows you to do whatever you want to do in the game. There are no real objectives except to use your imagination while playing the game.

Play Sets

These are special environments based on the characters you purchased with the game itself. From the videos I’ve seen there is are the following:

• Pirates of the Caribbean
• Monters University
• The Incredibles
• Cars

I’m sure other Play Sets will be introduced into the game after its release.  In the sneak peak trailers you can see others like Nightmare Before Christmas, Cinderella’s Castle, and a few others  you’ll have to go look at for yourself

In these special worlds you get to fight enemies, solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and complete a multitude of quests. There is a little bit of a rub here though. You can only play the characters in their perspective play sets.  In other words if you decide to play Sulley – you are going to only be able to play in the Monsters University Play Set.

Another thing to keep in mind each Play Set is going to have its own individual game play that is related to the movie/characters you decide to play. Not all are going to hack and slash or shoot em’ up type game plays.

Of course if you want to just do your own thing? Then there is the:

Toy Box

This is the actual “sand box” portion of the game. This is where you can enter in your character and do whatever you feel like doing in the game. It will be up to your own imagination on what you decide to do in this environment – which if you ask me is pretty cool. Now if you want there is some objective based quests in the Toy Box or you can just use the “Free Mode” to do whatever you like. Take a look at the example video below on how the Toy Box mode came about:

From the examples of what the testers/developers have created and I can tell you it looks amazing – from re-creating Mario Cart, to building huge structures like the USS Enterprise, to a giant guitar!  You truly are only limited by your imagination.

The other cool thing is for everything that you unlock for your character or in the Play Set world you have been playing in – you can now bring it into the Toy Box. This allows for virtually limitless possibilities.  Also in this world your characters can finally play together any way you wish.

Power Discs ($4.96)

With these you set them on your Infinity Pad and it will unlock different abilities or gadgets for your characters in game. These are sold separately as well. But you can stack up to three per figure. The Power Discs give you different special abilities like earning more coins, better defense or attacks, or provides other special abilities as well.

Disney Infinity Figures ($12.99 per Figure)

This is what sucked me in originally. You mean I can play just about all of my favorite Disney/Pixar characters? Even say Phineas, Ferb, or Perry the Platypus? Or maybe even Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas? Unfortunately these guys weren’t available yet when I looked online.  But I could get Mater and be able to play him though? Additional figures are $12.99 a piece although there are special character packs you can purchase as well.

From what I have seen online the quality of the characters look amazing! I’m sure some people will be purchasing the figures to collect them all by themselves!

Multi Player Options

You have two different options for Multi Player. You can play locally in split screen mode IF you have two of the same character types that match the Play Set world you want to play in.

The other is you can play online with a total of 4 players in the Toy Box mode.  This allows for you and your friends to play in a somewhat limited co-op mode to work on your creations online.

Online Community

If all that wasn’t enough? Disney is planning on holding contests or having you upload your Toy Box creations online,  You have a chance to win prizes or have your creations re-posted for the rest of the Disney Infinity world to see. They will then get the chance to download and add them to their own Toy Box worlds.

OK, WHERE DO I SIGN UP ALREADY?

Starter Pack ($79.99)

First off  you will need to Pr-Order the “Starter Pack” which includes:

• The Game
• Three Base Figures – Sulley, Captain Jack Sparrow, and Mr. Incredible

If  you do Pre-Order? You will get a bonus character, a Power Disc and some web codes which can be used to unlock content online and on your mobile phone.

Now if you decide to wait instead of doing the Pre-Order then  decide later you really want to get the game?

• You will spend the $79.99 price for the Starter Kit
• Then you will want additional characters – especially if you want to play split screen on the different Play Sets.  Add another $12.99.
• And you will want the different Power Discs so you can get special abilities or gadgets for your character. Remember this is up to 3 per character. And you can mix and match these depending on what your wanting to do.  This is $4.96 a pop as well.

So you will end up spending  $97.94 just to get started instead of the $79.99 Pre-Order Price!

Infinity Available For Every Console!

This is a rare first. Disney/Pixar and Avalanche games have made sure that this game is available for every console out there today. So if you own a console? It will be available for you to play on.

Personally, I think the game looks amazing. I’m thinking this will be one of the top games of the holiday season – so I would get it now and avoid the impending Holiday Rush!  Seriously though I can see this game taking off!  Even though I don’t like the fact that they had to get you to purchase the additional characters and discs as physical items instead of just charging a (much) lower price online through an online shop.  Overall I think that Disney/Pixar did an amazing job with the game and I can’t wait for it to come out.

Call of Duty Ghosts – The Next Official Call of Duty Game

The Ghosts Are Real

Its official now Call of Duty Ghosts is going to be the next title for the Call of Duty series. There are some teasers being put up at the Call of Duty website. If you talk about Ghosts on Facebook or Twitter you could be added to the Mosaic found on the Call of Duty website. Leaked Images and Online Retailers

Official Game Covers?

There have already been all kinds of leaks about the game already so we know this is the next official title. A grocer from the UK Tesco leaked some images and a pre-order for the game as well as U.S. retail chain Target. (Source: GameSpot) IGN reports seeing images from GameStop advertising crap and posters, there is even some box art for the Xbox360 and PlayStation 3.

No Mention of Next Gen Consoles?

My guess is that the game will be available for the next-gen consoles. Of course it would be a poor move if this game wasn’t available for the new consoles. Part of the issue is that the PlayStation 4 hasn’t even produced an actual box yet and Microsoft is releasing information about their next-gen Xbox in May 21rst.

This game  will currently be available for PC and the WiiU as well as for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

According to sites like IGN we will be getting the game on November 5th 2013 this Fall. This isn’t too far a stretch of the imagination as the last two titles Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty Black Ops II were both released around that time.

The patch notes below mainly address a lot of UI issues with Split Screen. But there are thankfully a few glitch fixes, as well as one important one that might fix a lot of issues with the game. Namely the one where the host can change their audio settings and it will drop framerates for everyone else in the match. The other big fix is a rollback to the spawn system as it wasn’t working – at all.

Limited Game Mode – Arms Race

This is a limited time game mode found in the Bonus Playlist called Arms Race Team Deathmatch. You will receive 150 per kill! So if you are a slayer and want to earn those bigger score streaks quickly? This will be the game type for you!  Also this could be a way to rank up quickly – but you’ll have to be really good or plan on being fodder!

• Added a limited time game mode to the Bonus Playlist, the Arms Race Team Deathmatch variant awards players 150 score per kill. Let the Scorestreak wars begin.

• Fixed an issue reported by the community where players could get infinite ammo for the Death Machine and War Machine.
• Addressed an issue reported by the community where players may not die when getting stuck with a Crossbow Bolt.
• Fixed an issue reported by the community where the Hunter Killer drones will float around slowly when they miss a target from a certain angle.
• Addressed an issue reported by the community where the frame rate may drop for other players when the host changes their audio settings during a match.
• Players can now enter the crouched position while sprinting with the Riot Shield equipped.
• Care packages now appear in blue and orange on the map when Color Blind Assist is enabled.
• Resolved an issue where players and turrets could survive the water rush when in certain areas on Hydro.
• Resolved a UI issue with Tactical Insertion button prompt placement in Split Screen after a Host Migration.
• Resolved an inconsistency with Max Number of Players being displayed incorrectly when backing out of a Public Match search while it is searching.
• Addressed an issue with the Respawn Delay counter overlapping with other on-screen graphics in Split Screen.
• Addressed an issue with League Teams appearing incorrectly when they view another player’s League Team in the Leaderboards.
• Resolved an issue where other player’s Combat Records appeared greyed out the first time their Playercard was selected in the Leaderboards.
• Fixed a formatting issue in Leagues Season Final text where the date the player was placed was wrapping incorrectly.
• Overkill challenges will now progress if the player is using an alternate select fire mode.
• The upper metal plate of a planted Assault Shield now appears in the proper position during a Killcam.
• Addressed an issue with the Custom and Private Match change team scoreboard not updating in real time when the overlay is on screen.
• Addressed a rapid scrolling issue in the Preset Class Menu.
• Chopper Hunter Field Specialist challenge updated to Aircraft Hunter with a description that reflects the aircrafts that need to be destroyed to complete the challenge.
• Text displayed for “Enemies forfeiting…” increased on Split-Screen to make it more legible.
• Fixed an issue with the last player alive defusing the bomb in Search & Destroy not receiving any defuse points.
• Resolved an issue with signing in and out while a film in loading in Theater.
• The icon to distinguish a Search & Destroy bomb location is now visible to a Codcaster who is spectating the defending team.
• Addressed an issue where the second player of a Split Screen match would flicker in and out of the stream.
• Resolved an issue with attempting to sign into a Twitch account with Dual Play enabled.
• Fixed an issue in the Combat Record where the images would disappear when scrolling off of and on to the Combat Record.
• Fixed an issue in Offline System Link when the host leaves a lobby.

• Reverted global spawn influencer change from previous game update due to undesirable side effects.
