<itunes:summary>Dina is back (yea!) but not for long (boo!). Things will go back to normal next month, however, so we've all got something to look forward to. Tom's dad is getting a new sub and Tom is jealous (looks like the price went up since Tom's dad ordered). Yamaha has a new HTiB receiver out which Tom thinks is pretty cool. Oh, and Marantz has a SACD player out that Tom doesn't like because of the color? Oh, and the price. And the lack of multichannel. And... well you get the picture. How important is low end response on a bookshelf speaker? What's the deal with first looks on Audioholics? Tom's cursory review of the Diana Krall: Live in Rio and Blue Man Group: How to Be a Megastar Live! blu-rays. One addition, the video quality of the Diana Krall one sucks. Also, there is no real logical reason why your sub would bet a better workout on the Krall disc rather than the Blue Man. A few listeners have questions about speaker choices. Dina has a question about how you know which reviewer to trust. Tom has a deal that everyone can afford. Also, if you are looking for a new system, the Audioholics Store has some crazy package deals right now. Check them out! Thanks for listening and don't forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley.

<itunes:summary>Guest co-host number 2 is Andy and he joins Tom this week. They tackle a number of issues this week including the complexity of electronics and how that will affect the sales staff of tomorrow, game lag and displays, and using professional monitors instead of home theater speakers. Ted wants to know if little metal bowls could possibly make a system sound better. No, no they can't. All things being equal, what's better, bookshelves or floorstanding speakers? What's the deal with di-pole speakers and surrounds? How do you run multiple surrounds if you have more than one seat? (Here's that link to Gene's article Tom was talking about.) Does Tom actually like Shia La Beouf? Since when did $50 become a "deal" for 3 discs? What is on the horizon as far as downloads vs. discs? How does Redbox play into it? Andy is a talker so this one is a bit long. Thanks for listening and don't forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley.

<itunes:summary>Dina's back and of course the first thing on the menu is Rob. A bunch of stuff about video games including XBox rumors and the Halo killer. LG has a 15" OLED coming out. HDMI 1.4 Ethernet poll is discussed along with a new acquisition for Amazon. The brightening of speakers - good, bad, or just screechy - Tom discusses. Some new interviews are in the works (hopefully). Mathew has a good suggestion, Monster has a new cable that Tom doesn't hate, and Tom's son's birthday party was a hit. A story from Gene. ooVoo is furthermore banished from this podcast (4 crashes in 30 minutes) so the video is on hold until we can figure out something better. <itunes:summary>Clint's in for Dina this week. We've got another unbelievable deal this week, check it out. A few listener questions including one about audition music, one about line level inputs on a sub, and a third about the new SVS EQ. Update on the contest. An evaluation of the PS3 by Tom (where he says oh so nice things... yeah, that's the ticket). Clint's reviewing the new Oppo Blu-ray player and gives you a preview. What's the deal with GameStop's return policy and how can you use it to your advantage? NAD confuses Tom and Clint (that just sounds wrong). E-Play - the GameStop/Amazon killer? Tom calibrated his ears. Thanks for listening and don't forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley.

<itunes:summary>Clint fills in for Dina this week. Look for a new contest of sorts on the website on Friday. Tom got his PS3 (yea!) and a new Xbox (double yea!) on the same day (mind-blowingly yea!). First impressions of the PS3 - smug. That's right, he said it. A few comments from the Midwest. A dead Belkin Powerline AV+ means you'll have some more info on customer support soon. Denon's got a new line of AVRs (receivers) and Blu-ray players with LOTS of acronyms. Tom's thinking about finally getting some blackout curtains (he ordered them and will share the link if they don't suck), Clint gives some advice. Why Tom thinks J.J. Abrams is smarter than Joss Whedon. And yes, that is a snowball in hell. Tom is going to jail and so is Dina. An exceptional deal from the Audioholics store contained within. Check it out. The phone line is back and working, give us a ring at 978.633.7268. Thanks for listening and don't forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley.

<itunes:summary>Two years of AV Rant and Dina still hasn't killed Tom? He must be doing something wrong. If you missed the QA last week, stick around, we'll have some more in the future. Got some old HD DVDs you'd like to trade in for Blu-rays? Red2Blu is the answer. Can you get an honest opinion about a speaker? Tom weighs in. A few listener questions are addressed including the purpose of the RGB Gain/Cut adjustments (some additional info here and here), graphing the frequency response of your room, and whether or not Blu-ray is worth it. Best Buy goes vinyl, newspapers are dying, a review of an HT Guys interview, and Dina loves the Midwest. Loves it so hard it hurts. Great job HDMI with your destimulus plan. Thanks for listening and don't forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley.
