My Thoughts

Wow, what an amazing follow up. Seriously if you have not started this series yet you must go now and read Dead on the Delta! These 2 books will totally suck you in. I love when I can say the second book is as awesome if not more awesome then the first.

Poor Annabelle really has no idea who she can trust. It seems everyone around her has their own secrets and her poor world is tearing apart. Then there are the surprises the fairies throw her way! One fairie in particular starts haunting her dreams and threatening to kill everyone she has ever loved. He can even breach the border!! She learns that now that she has been taking the shots she has a lot of new gifts and some of them might get her killed.

We must talk about all the yummy men in her life. There is Cade who seems nice and loyal and someone who she can trust and lean on.. But is he?? Then there is Hitch the ex love of her life who she may never get over. But he has a whole ton of baggage including a soon to be wife and soon to be baby. But these two have steamy chemistry and its hard not to pine over him when we are in Annabelles head. Then there is Tucker! Who shares a lot of her gifts. He is also gorgeous and has that bad boy vibe, but with him she wouldn't have to keep any secrets. But he also works for the bad guy! All of these men have their own secrets and all of them I LOVE!

If you are looking for a new unique world filled with just non stop awesomeness then you have found it right here!! I read this in 1 sitting it was that unputdownable!!! Blood on the Bayou, was just a perfect balance of awesomesauce!!! Go check it out.

My Thoughts

What a refreshing awesome Urban fantasy read. I was shocked at how much I loved this book. I never heard of it before but my good friend Miss Vain recommended it and I am so happy she did. I couldn't put this book down, it has a unique twist to the fairy world and one sarcastic border line alcoholic heroine, that I just loved!

Finally a book where fairies are those tiny little things with wings, but these are not cute they are deadly and one bite can kill you or turn you insane. They have a taste for blood and only a few people are immune. The cities are bordered by iron they have iron shuttles and its very much like a zombie Apocalypse type of deal but its with deadly tiny killer fairies!

Annabelle is slightly destructive but seems to have a heart of gold. She is funny and sarcastic and I loved her. A lot of times in this book I just wanted to give her a big hug. There is so much going on in her life and so many people judging her. She was almost killed by a psycho drug user, then when Annabelle fights back she ties the women up and leaves her in the bayou. Which turns out is a big mistake, now she has her boss the FBI the ex love of her life and his new fiance and a few other people investigating her and just making her feel like crap. Not to mention at one point she is sure she is attacked by an invisible man, oh and there is a murderer on the lose.

There is way too much to tell you in the book so you should just go read it!lol

This was just a great read and as soon as I finished it I jumped into the next book!! I loved the world building, the characters and everything. It is a must read!!

1. Bones (Night Huntress series). Book two, chapter 32? ‘Nuff said.

2. Barrons (Fever series). Who doesn’t have a crush on Barrons??

3. Terrible (Downside Ghosts series). First of all, best name ever. Second of all, the way he feels about Chess despite all her craziness make me swoon.

4. Aren (Shadow Reader series). He’s that guy that doesn’t want the best for you - he wants him for you. He doesn’t want you to do the right thing - he wants you to do whatever will keep you safe.

My Thoughts

Oh man, this 2nd book is just freaking AWESOMESAUCE!!! I seriously could not put it down!

Poor Kate! I mean I was almost in tears over her situations. In this book we see how much she is second best to Persephone's Henry's first wife. Not only does she know Henry still loves her, Kate now has to go to her for help! Its just so heart breaking. Kate gave up her life to help Henry and most of this book you see him pining for his first love. I am nervous people will write reviews about being bothered by Kate's complaints over this, but I have to say I think she did so well. I mean come on! Who would not be upset that the man they married and love is still in love with someone else, not too mention its her sister and shes beautiful or that Kate feels like she only exists because they needed another Persephone. So yes Kate was upset over this and she complained about this but damn so would I!! She didn't sit back either, she fought for what she loves!

Oh this book was great though. Don't think because of this heart ache it wasn't. There was a lot going on in this book. Kate doesn't only have to deal with Persephone she also has to deal with a monster being unleashed who seems to want her and wants to destroy the world. When most of the council is taken hostage, Kate is the first person to set out to help. Kate, Ava and James set up to on a journey through the underworld. Its there we meet up with Persephone and even one of the girls Henry almost married.

Aimee Carter totally captivated me in her beautiful story telling and her unique world building. I am not going to give you the whole book, just know once you start it you are going to have to finish it, but once you finish it you are going to be so mad that you have to wait so long for the next book!! The ending is torture!lol Its an amazing book!! I just wish I could read the next book right now!

My Thoughts

This is one of those reviews I am going to have to try and control my fan girl like moments in!! I loved the first book The Restorer and amazingly this book was just as awesome!! Its creepy and beautiful and just has this whole package of mystery!!

First lets start with the creep factor. This book is filled with creepy moments as our main girl Amelia can see ghosts. And no these are not the sexy ghosts, they are terrifying! I seriously turned on Dora the Explorer to help me through this book so I wouldn't get too scared.

Second Amanda Stevens just has this beautiful way of writing. She sucks you into this small town and gives you all the details without boring you and creates this mystical world. I read this book in 2 sittings because I just could not put it down. As soon as we are on the ferry going to her new job I was glued to the pages. Every moment of this book there was something to grab a hold too and I just could not let go.

You must start with her first book The Restorer because that is where it all starts. And if you have read it then you will find some of the mysteries in Amelias life are uncovered in this book. We also meet some new characters and find out more about Amelias past. I have to say I totally missed Devlin through the whole book, but I really did enjoy meeting Thane. Oh and the very last 3 words of this book had me going crazy and abandoning my blogging duties so I could jump into The Prophet!

This book is a MUST MUST read!! I mean it. Its one of those books I think almost anyone would enjoy. There is something not quite right in Asher Falls and poor Amelia has no idea who she can trust. Not to mention the evil that lurks there and seems to have eyes for her. Like I said its creepy, beautiful, mysterious and one of my most favorite books of the year!!

"In the old days, coffins were equipped with a warning system--a chain attached to a bell on the grave in case a premature burial. They say at night when the mist rolls in, you can hear those bells." He glanced over the railing. "The dead down there don't want to be forgotten.....ever again."

My Thoughts

I absolutely love everything about this series so far. This easily could be my favorite series this year.

Amelia is working on a new cemetery a few hours from her home. As soon as she arrives on the ferry things are strange. She meets the prodigal son of Asher Falls, Thane Asher. However, things aren't always what they seem. Thane really isn't the blase, rich boy he makes himself out to be. Asher Falls isn't the peaceful little town it looks like. As soon as Amelia arrives in town strange things begin to happen. Not only is the town weird, the people in it are weird.

Amelia finds herself strangely in tune with the town. Not to mention while restoring the cemetery she finds an unmarked grave that no one is talking about. There are people in this town who control everything. Not only do you have ghosts, you have a real life person causing havoc all over town.

This series is amazing. I agree with Amber, you must start with The Restorer so you realize everything that is going on. But this is a must read. There is mystery, severe creepiness, romance, and lots of drama. I recommend this book to everyone. I can not wait to read the next book in this series and see where Amelia's story ends up.

My Thoughts

Ever hear the saying its not the size that matters?? Well that is exactly how I feel about these short stories. Even though I would love for them to longer I am always satisfied with what I get.

This is the 3rd book in the series and we are continuing a long nicely in the story. We got to see more of that mystery wolf that I love so much. He even gets Lorena to start questioning herself and things about her pack. Oh and of coarse there are lots of steamy scenes and even one that will probably have most mens eyes bugging out of their heads!!!

So if you like short novellas with lots of steamy goodness then you should totally check these out! There is also a story going on and I can not wait to see how it all plays out. Will Lorena stay with her pack and keep being just the mistress or will she try and break free and find a mate of her own. Or before she even gets to decide any of these choices will the mystery person who is stalking her finally get their way and take Lorena out??

My Thoughts

Amelia has a gift or a curse, depending on how you look at it. She can see ghosts, they can see her, and sometimes they know she can see them. Her father has the same ability, starting from the age of 9 her father teaches her all about the rules that come along with seeing ghosts. You are supposed to ignore the ghosts, don't look into their eyes, don't let them know that you can see them because they can latch onto you and you will never get rid of them. Amelia spends her entire life following these rules. Until she starts working on restoring Oak Grove Cemetery.

The mysterious, sexy, all business Detective John Devlin approaches her one evening to assist in a murder investigation. Amelia is immediately attracted to him, which is quite surprising because she's always played it safe. She agrees to help and quickly becomes entrenched in an investigation that is spiraling out of control. The murderer is escalating, Amelia is drawn to Devlin even though she shouldn't be, even though he's a haunted man.

There are a lot of players in this book, possible suspects that are friends and acquaintances of Amelia. Not too mention it seems like the killer and Devlin both have Amelia in their sights, as do Devlin's ghosts. This book doesn't stop. There is constantly something going on and the plot is constantly progressing and developing. Easily one of my favorite books of the year, I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

The sight of Chloe and Seth so at ease with each other, and worse, touching each other set something off inside Joe, a combination of irrational anger sprinkled with a covetousness he’d not experienced but had heard of. Jealousy.

Whatever the name for the emotion, he found himself unable to halt it as he ripped Seth away from Chloe’s side and sent his fist into the grinning face. He maintained enough control to not beat his friend to a pulp — barely — but he couldn’t stop himself from slinging Chloe over his shoulder and stomping off to their room.

“What the heck was that about?” she exclaimed as she dangled down his back.

“You seem to have forgotten who you belong to.”

She didn’t say anything for a moment. “Are you jealous?”

“No.” Yes!

“It’s normal to feel that way. It just never occurred to me you would.”

“I don’t. Jealousy is a human emotion. I am a cyborg. We are above such petty wastes of our time.”

“Really. Well then, someone should probably explain that to Seth’s face,” she drawled.

“This is not entertaining. You were practically inviting him to take ownership of your body.”

“I was not,” she exclaimed, and a small rational part of him knew she spoke truly, but he’d lost the ability to decipher logic from madness where she was concerned.

Arriving at their room, he tossed her onto the bed and quickly tore at his clothes.

“What are you doing?” she asked, her eyes wide, but not with trepidation if the protruding nipples through her shirt were any indication.

“Showing you who owns your body.”

“Me.”

“Wrong answer,” he growled. “I do. And it seems I must show you.”

He fell on her, and despite her previous defiant answer, she welcomed him with open arms and a fierce kiss. Her legs spread wide to accommodate his body, but while he’d denuded his frame, she remained dressed. Their hands met at the closing to her pants, their impatient battle to remove them more of a fumbling parody. When he finally managed to strip them from her, he was ready to sink himself into her. He retained enough wits though to realize she required preparation for his penetration. With sex bots, that never proved a concern as they arrived to service pre-lubed. Human females however, according to his studies, required stimulation to achieve the same state. He slid a hand between her thighs and, to his relief, found her already soaking wet. It pleased him, on a level he did not understand, that Chloe achieved this state around him without means of manipulation.

He wasted no more time. He propped himself above her and thrust into her sex. Oh, the exquisite, unexplainable feel of her channel clamping tightly around his cock. He would never tire of it. Never tire of her. But did she feel the same about him? He had to know.

“Tell me who you belong to.”

Her eyes opened part way, her lids heavy with arousal. “Why do you care?”

He rammed into her hard. She gasped.

A growl left him. “Do not toy with me. You are my female. Not Seth’s. Not anyone else’s. Say you belong to me.” He almost roared the words, desperate to hear her say it.

My Review

Looking for a new spin on vampires? Well The Half-Breed Vampire has a pretty unique way of how you become one. Plus the vamps in this book come with lots of extra gifts!! It also has that opposite attracts vibe, sexual tension and an awesome story that make this book one great read!!

I was surprised to find out this is the 3rd book in the series, since I have never picked up the other 2. I had no trouble at all following the world or book, never felt I was missing a thing. Along with the new vamp lore we also have Raina who is the "Whisperer" of her tribe, (something she thought was just a bunch of folk lore for a while). Then we have the wolf tribe, a Goddess of chaos and our one hot couple.

There are lots of secrets to uncover. Slade not knowing where he came from has a past that shocks him. Raina believing her tribes tales as non sense is also in for a shocker. Its a great book for any paranormal romance lover!!

Mechanic Mercy Thompson can shift her shape - but not her loyalty. When her former boss and mentor is arrested for murder and left to rot behind bars by his own kind, it's up to Mercy to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not.

Mercy's loyalty is under pressure from other directions, too. Werewolves are not known for their patience, and if Mercy can't decide between the two she cares for, Sam and Adam may make the choice for her.

My Thoughts

Mercy has this innate ability to get into a mess. This book is no different from the other two I've read. Mercy is brought into a murder investigation going on in Fairyland by Zee and Uncle Mike. They figured she could use her coyote nose to sniff out a murder. What they didn't realize was that there would be all kinds of downfall from having her there. She figures out who the murderer is and Zee and Uncle Mike go confront the killer. But when they get there, he's already dead and Zee is arrested for his murder.

I couldn't stop reading this book once I started. Mercy is finally going to make a choice between Sam and Adam. There is just so much that happens. The last 30% of this book had me tearing up constantly. It was so sad. I couldn't help but continue reading, I couldn't help but devour this book. Mercy is investigating the murders in Fairyland to try to figure out what really happened to get Zee out of jail. While investigating, Mercy stirs up a whole lot of stuff that the fae don't want stirred up.

In this book we get a lot more information about the fae and how they work. Also, there is a ton of stuff going on. There wasn't one dull moment. But there were a lot of heart breaking moments. Ben surprises us all at a critical moment. Mercy stands up to Adam several times. We also get some more up close time with Adam's pack. This is a great installment to the Mercy books. Easily my favorite so far.

My Review

This is another book that I simply could not put down. Oh and there is even a sort of love triangle, but I totally did not care!lol. That is unusual for me. If you love the sort of boarding school paranormal books you are in for a treat.

When we first met Cordelia I just was not sure if I was going to like her. But after a few pages I decided I really did. Once she has to mentor the young half demon half human girl she showed me a totally different person. She took her mentor duty seriously and even almost was killed for it.

This is one of those books there is just so much going on. Cordelia has a boyfriend but she also "synched" with another guy. This is where the love triangle came in, but it was nicely done that it never truly bothered me. Then there is also the fact that shifters tried to kill her the very first day back, the girl she is mentoring is a blood magnet to the vamps, and this was suppose to be her relaxing year.

We also have a story within the story Faustine (the girl Claudia is mentoring) well she is a half demon but anytime her demon side wants to take over she magically disappears and reappears with no knowledge how she got there. Then in comes Jaggers brother who is also just a huge bag of mystery.

So we have all these things going on and I was just hooked to the pages. I needed to see what was going to happen. I liked how this book was a YA book but with adult twists. I loved almost every second of it. The only thing I did not like was the ending. It seemed to end out of nowhere and it wasn't so much of a cliffhanger ending but it ended without getting to know a lot of things I wanted to know. It was still a fun ride and will be looking forward (or hoping) to see more of these characters!

As a child of the 80s I’m sure (hoping) you seen Back to the Future, if Doc Brown came up to you in his Time Machine and offered to take you to any year past or present where would you go and why?

Well of course I’ve seen Back to the Future! Probably too many times. Oh man… so hard! Okay, if I had just one choice, I’d go for Ancient Egypt. I would love to see the pyramids and temples when they were new. It must have been amazing!

Firelight has a lot of Beauty and the Beast references is that your favorite Disney movie, if not what is and why?

I love that movie, but it isn’t my favorite. I actually really like Tangled because it’s your classic road adventure romance. J And Flynn/ Eugene is hot! (er… can I say that about an animated hero?)

We don't see Lord Archer’s features for almost the whole book yet I found myself in love with him, how did you do it?

Magic. (g) Actually, the fact that the reader almost never sees Archer’s face was a huge fear for me when I began writing. We readers are used to seeing our heroes. In the end, I realized that the whole point of a beauty and the beast story is that Beauty falls in love with the inner man. So I simply had to show the inner man Archer was and hope readers responded to him as much as Miranda did.

I am sure you've been asked this a lot but how did you come up with Archers "disease"? Or Miranda's talent?

I don’t want to give anything away for those who haven’t read so perhaps a spoiler is in order here.

Right then. When I first came up with the story for Firelight, I was drawing not only from Beauty and the Beast, but also from the Norwegian tale East of the Moon, West of the Sun. In that story, it is a great polar bear that carried the beauty off. Which got me to thinking about snow and ice. It seemed fitting that Archer should slowly be turning into an icy sort of creature. But then I thought of him having to constantly hide behind masks. He would crave light on his face, which gave me the leap to think that he craved light in general. But what sort of light? The light of souls worked on many levels, so I used that.

Since Archer’s curse was somewhat icy in nature, it seemed natural to make Miranda’s power be his opposite (the yin to his yang? *g*) and thus she became a firestarter.

Since this is for our "Sawesome" book of the month can you share you favorite or most awesome scene in the book?

I don’t have one favorite scene; I kind of love them all. Lol. But I’d probably go with when Miranda and Archer first meet because, in a way, it encompasses the whole of their story. Everything you need to know about their true characters, and how they will relate to each other is there.

Again for our "Sawesome" book of the month can you share your favorite sexiest scene with us?

Ah. Well, while I do like their final consummation –because, hello? FINALLY! (g) – my favorite smexy scene would have to be Archer and Miranda’s, ahem, exchange against a certain alley wall. :D

(Must but in here, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that scene)

Can you tell us something about Miranda or Archer that we did not get to see in Firelight?

One of the scenes that just killed me to cut was of Archer and Miranda fencing together. While the reader does get to see Miranda wheedling her sword, the reader missed out of Archer coaching her. Archer is actually quite an accomplished swordsman, which is hinted at in the prologue. I’m only sorry no one got to see him in action!

Also I think you should know that after reading Firelight I have been in such a reading funk, I just can not get these characters out of my head.. What do you have to say for yourself?lol

Hmm… I suppose here is where I ought to apologize, but I really am not sorry! :D lol!

I just want to say if you LOVE the Gwen Sparks series as much as I do then you are definitely going to want to check this out. I am in love with Dorian and we got to see everything from his POV. He is even hotter then he was before. This story was just what I needed to get my Dorian fix in!! I still need to read the other short stories but I had to dive into When Opportunity Haunts!!!

My Review

I really loved Heathers Dirty Blood series so I jumped on the chance to read this book without reading the description. When I first started this book, I got really nervous once I noticed it was about aliens and other galaxies (I really should have figured this out before reading.) Anyways I kept reading because it was so far so good. And before the middle came around, well I was totally totally HOOKED! I never would have thought I would be in love with a book with "aliens" (it feels weird calling these characters aliens.) but I am really happy that I jumped into this book because like I said I am in love with it.

Across the Galaxy is full of action, mystery, amazingly, beautiful, unique world building and of coarse one of my favorites an awesome romance. The way she has us travel to different worlds, the worlds themselves and the just amazing set of characters will have you totally hooked in this book. Its just one of the rare books you don't get to see often and you will be sitting around thinking about for some time after you've finished reading it.

I got this ARC from publisher out of nowhere and as soon as I seen the cover, I was like yes I love you.lol Yes I do pick a lot of the same types covers but I can't help. Girl in dress (and I love when you can't really see her face, that way you can just picture what she looks like in your head. I am not a big fan of seeing the characters on a book. I like to use my imagination) and the creepy cemetery. Plus she has a dog.. BONUS!lol The writing is awesome too. Its just a totally Amber Loving Cover!hahha.!!

Giselle regains consciousness and is horrified to discover she has been asleep for nine weeks. She was already aware that she was carrying a very special baby who was to be the first of a new race of vampires, but she is shocked to find how her pregnancy is progressing. Around her, the underworld is in turmoil. Vampires battle with creatures of darkness and with other vampires, and few are entirely what they seem. More confusing still, those who appeared to be totally evil may have a streak of goodness in them, and those who appeared to be Giselle’s friends may have a darker purpose of their own. Almost anyone, it seems, can be changed and turned, except possibly Ysoriel the Archangel and the goddess Lilith, and Giselle cannot be sure that even they are interested only in her welfare.

The only certainty is that it will all become very much worse before it begins to get better – if anything ever gets better for Giselle.

My Thoughts

This storyline has potential. It's definitely nothing that I've ever read or heard of before. There is a lot going on here. Giselle has woken up and she is way more pregnant then she expected to be. Things are progressing faster than usual. The baby she is carrying is special. Alex is plotting against Giselle. But there are other forces that are plotting against Giselle and Alex.

I have to say that this book was hard for me to read. It wasn't concise. The story line wasn't really developed. Meaning, that there weren't a lot of details where there should have been. With so much going on in this book, I feel that there really should have been more explanation. Also, Giselle and Alex seemed like petulant children. It just wasn't my cup of tea, so to speak. I think other people might love it but it isn't a book that I would remember.
