Every time I do this I understand what an awesome thing autofocus is and what a challenge is to shoot dancing/jumping objects with manual focus. But challenge was accepted! Eight photos from one summer day spent with two friends at The Dutchman's Cap cliff on the coats of Baltic Sea near Klaipėda, Lithuania. It was very lazy Sunday afternoon, that coast was very rocky so we decided to do sunbathing while creating pillars from stones. Photos taken with iPhone 5s, post-processed with VSCOcam app.

Apollo Reload

These are not real photos - these are extracted frames from 720p quality video files I took at Apollo Reload party. Whole party was bit strange with tech problems, good music and unexpectedly small amount of photos. Organizer then decided to pull frames out of video and make them look like photos taken on film - so I simulated various film look with LR and here is the result.

This is my set from crazy dub/deep techno party Apollo Calling in Klaipėda, Lithuania. This is a tribute to two my mates - Daumantas & Vytautas from Sutemos.net project for being part of my life and for bringing these sounds closer to my soul in early 00's. The party was orginized by Apollo Team - Tomas, Jonas, Šarūnas, Mantas & others. Big respect to this team for keeping techno scene alive in west-coast of Lithuania. Apollo is a name for series of techno parties held in a unique place on the cost of Curonian Lagoon with panoramic view to the lagoon, port, Sea Gates and Curonian Spit - Meat Lovers Pub. Apollo Calling was the 5th installment in Apollo series with a slightly different concept of techno music - more dubs, delays, reverbs, less bpm's. It was an honor to play together with Giriu Dvasios & Grad_U. The crowd was amazing too - the party started immediately without any need to warm-up. Thanks to everyone involved in Apollo parties! Jazz Star Hunters 2015

This is my continuous project. This year's jazz festival was a little calmer and I had more time for my experiments. Some photographs were taken with Konica Hexanon 40mm f/1.8 pancake lens, some with Konica Hexanon 50mm f/1.7. I can tell that it was difficult to focus moving people with manual 50mm but I liked bokeh of that lens more than 40mm. Post-processing made with LR – Kodak BW400CN film simulation. Some pics from the 1st and 2nd gangrides of Longboarding_klp group. This was like a test of my Pentax MX camera - I didn't know if it works and now it seems working perfectly. Beautiful people, beautiful day, beautiful ride - I couldn't ask for more.

The same day I got iPhone 5s I started using VSCO Cam app. I'm obsessed with film photography and film simulation in digital photography and after a few shots VSCO Cam became my number 1 photography app - it's all about film post-processing simulation. Camera allows You to choose focus and exposure on different spots, then You get some tools and filters for free or You can buy other filters. There are also some filters made in cooperation with other brands (Levis, Hypebeast etc.). VSCO Grid is free minimalist publishing platform for showcasing the best in mobile photography. It is not Instagram clone. In fact there is only one so called social function in VSCO Grid - You can follow a person and see his photos. That's all. VSCO Grid is focused on content, and less on followers and likes. There is also curated VSCO Grid Feed where curators selects best photos and publish them on the feed daily. That why I was so happy to receive letter from VSCO and it really inspires me to put more quality content on VSCO Grid:

I had an opportunity to shoot Klaipeda Castle Jazz Fest artists a bit closer this year and it was fun thing to do. All artists generated same positive emotions but they were different at the same time. Very lyrical and sensitive Paulette McWilliams, serious Alex Schultz & Craig Handy from Raphael Wressnig & Soul Gumbo live performace, enthusiastic Eric Marienthal, funky people from AKAGA Band, emotional sisters Saulė & Elzė, always happy and energetic Sheila Raye Charles, groovy and uplifting guys from Jazzanova live Band... All photographs were taken with one of three lenses: Konica Hexanon 40mm f/1.8 pancake lens, Jupiter 9 and Helios 44K-4. Post-processing made with LR - Kodak BW400CN film simulation. My goal was to take pictures of all XX Klaipeda Castle Jazz Festival photographers team members but later I understood it was complicated decision. I had to choose between live instagramming and shooting other photographers and decided to do both things. As the result there are 22 photos (not all members of the team). All photographs were taken with one of three lenses: Konica Hexanon 40mm f/1.8 pancake lens, Jupiter 9 and Helios 44K-4. Post-processing made with LR - Kodak BW400CN film simulation.
