Congress has allowed taxpayers to exclude from income the amount of the debt forgiveness on a home loan if certain requirements are met. The devil is in the details, however, and there are significant limitations. For example, if a taxpayer receives funds under a home equity loan and uses those funds for non-home related purchases, the taxpayer will have to pay taxes on the forgiven debt.

Fellow Pilots:

Did you know that to safely and legally take off, go somewhere and land your aircraft, you must adhere to over 700 federal regulations!

We call them the FAR’s but they actually originate from the Code of Federal Regulations Titles 14 and 49.

I recently attended an NTSB Trial where an airman was facing a certificate revocation of all his certificates.

A new study of over 1700 couples found a correlation between marital problems and the value spouses placed on "having money and lots of things." According to the study, published by the Journal of Couple and Relationship Therapy, couples who believe that money is not important scored up to 15 percent higher on marriage stability and other measures of relationship quality than more materialistic couples. Interestingly, couples with more money were more likely to have conflict over finances.
