(2) Marriage Amendment The Arizona House vote on the marriage amendment did not happen this week for one simple reason: two representatives who support the amendment are out of town.
(3) Ban on Partial-Birth Abortion The revised partial-birth abortion ban that addresses the concerns the Governor identified in her veto letter passed out of conference committee on Tuesday.
(4) Prohibition on Nurses Performing Abortions On Tuesday, the Advanced Practice Advisory Committee of the state Board of Nursing voted unanimously to recommend that the Board rule that first trimester surgical abortions are within the scope of...

(1) Marriage Amendment Clears Another Hurdle As you may recall, a few weeks ago, opponents attached hostile language to the marriage amendment. As a result, we had to start again with a new bill to bring the marriage amendment to the ballot.
(2) Arizona House Approves Partial-Birth Abortion Ban On Tuesday, the House also approved the revised partial-birth abortion ban by a vote of 31-24.
(3) Age Misrepresentation Bill Heads to the Governor The House gave final approval today for HB 2129 by a vote of 55-0. This bill makes it a felony for someone to misrepresent his or her age on the Internet for the purpose of luring a minor.

(1) Crunch Time at the Legislature! Just about every key bill on CAP's legislative agenda has had a vote this week at the State Capitol.
(2) Parental Consent Guidelines HB 2263 to codify an appellate court decision providing guidance for judges ruling on whether or not a minor should get an abortion without parental consent passed the Senate.
(3) Nurses Performing Abortions By a 32-28 vote, the Arizona House passed HB 2269 to prohibit nurses from performing surgical abortions. Planned Parenthood uses nurse practitioners to perform first and second trimester abortions.
(4) School Issues In the education arena, the House passed HB 2100 to allow employers to deduct the school tax credits from an employee's paycheck throughout the year.

(1) Prayer, Religious Liberty, Partial-Birth Abortion and More! We are making progress on our legislative agenda! The legislative session is always a busy season here at CAP, and I am pleased to be able to update you on the week's activities.
(2) It's Okay to Pray It's okay to pray in public schools. There's a lot of confusion about what the Constitution means for the individual faith of public school students.
(3) Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Advances Both the Senate and House gave tentative approval to a state ban on partial-birth abortion on Thursday. You can read more about the bill's progress in today's Arizona Daily Star.
(4) Marriage Amendment Referendum No action was taken this week on the marriage amendment referendum. If you haven't contacted your legislators in support of the marriage amendment, there's still time.
(5) Scholarship Tax Credits Legislators continue working on the state budget. Money is tight. Conservative projections show a $3 billion shortfall.
