Faith and I spent an evening watching two dragonflies playing in an area we nicknamed "dragonfly cove." Every single time we walked over - lo and behold, our friends were flitting around from flower to flower, or stick to stick.

I love the way they move their little heads around like tiny people. Faith thinks it looks like they are wearing tiny pilot's helmets (I'm not sure what that means).

I also love that Faith was captivated enough by their beauty to overcome her fear of yet one more flying thing. If only I could apply photography therapy to my fear of spiders.. I haven't made much progress since this picture.

There is a really pretty red dragonfly that zooms around the park. I have not been able to get a picture of him - as of now, he's just a flash by my head.

I've really missed the park in the Last Normal Place on Earth - I forgot what a wonderland of nature it is.

and I watched him. We watched each other for a long, long time. I shot this with my new 85mm lens - so I will have you know that I had to get very close to get these pictures. We were very close friends by the time I was finished.
