but it got too crampy..

and I find myself out of space before long..

I guess it's time to change..

so that I can get a good night's sleep..

I'm happy to be surrounded by these colourful numbers..

I'm happier still that I can move more freely now..

and get to wake up oh-so-happy..

raya 2009 - kampung days

We went back to kampung on the 2nd day of Raya, so there wasn't much of a Raya feeling was left. All the Raya night preparation, bersalam-salaman, going to semayang Raya and going to kubur atuk, we didn't experience this year. However, I still had a lot of fun in Sitiawan.

welcome to my humble place..

Back in Ramadhan, we held a small buka puasa + housewarming for family members of both Umi and Baba. We just recently moved in at the start of Ramadhan, so the buka puasa was held potluck style so that we don't have to do much other than prepare our place to buka puasa... weehoo!

After buka puasa & solat maghrib, we read yaasin and had a little tahlil to thank Allah for giving us plentiful of blessings, and putting a roof (plus another 20 floors!) over us. The adults also performed tarawih while us kids were busy (and noisy) playing in my small cute little room.

Some of them had been to our new place before, helped us with the wall painting and the moving in previously. While for some of them, it was their first time visit. In the end we were happy to be the host and everybody enjoyed the occasion in the blessed month.

Umi's note : Notice Nadhrah closing her eyes so shut during the BIG family photo? That's because she's terrified of Dato K-style moustache, in this case worn by uncle Ayah Long. We seldom see him cos he's a busy doctor, and this time Nadhrah's so phobia of him that everytime she sees him, she would get into a hysterical terror and hug Umi so tight. So no other way to get through the photoshoot, than to ask Nadhrah to shut her eyes.

Umi's Note 2 : Yesterday night, we turned on the laptop and Nadhrah wants to "tengok gamba Nadhrah", which means turning on the slide show of her pics on the laptop that she enjoys so much. So we turned on the slide show of the raya pics while Umi and Baba was away attending to errands. Suddenly out of the blue Nadhrah hysterically cries in front of the computer, and came running to hug Umi. Ya Allah, budak ni! Tgk gamba si misai kat laptop pon tak bole??

We have finally moved in to our own new home, starting this Ramadhan. At first Baba and Umi was quite wary of the challenges we are going to face during Ramadhan and moving in at the same time, but so far Alhamdulillah it has been a wonderful (and tiring) experience.

Actually we got the keys to our condo back in April this year (hence, all the missing blog posts since then... hehehe alasan). But then all the renovation and making sure the place was gonna be livable took so long. Actually the renovation didn't take that long, it was the decision-making that was delayed from one weekend to the next, that the then impending fasting month that finally prompted Umi and Baba to speed things up.

Since it's Ramadhan, there will be no big housewarming from us. However, if you have some home made cooked food and wants to share it with us, you are free to come and buka puasa here! Hehehe..

Oh yeah, we've got fishes in our hotel and I love going to see it! It's just by the cafe, so here I am playing with the fishes while Umi and Baba have their breakfast

There was one particular fish which was bigger than the others, in white. The pool was so shallow that when the big fish swims, its upper fin will be out of the water. So Baba challenged me to touch the fish and I'm always up to the challenge! (While Baba himself could not get himself to touch the fish because of 'geli')

During makan time, I was so into Baba's lychees that at one point, I pulled the glass towards me too quickly and kebooossshh!!, all those air lychee gelas besar that was not even half empty spilled onto me. I knew Baba was very angry with me cos there goes most of his lychee drink and now I'm all wet, but he acted cool and consoled me so that I would not cry and make a scene, cos then both Umi and Baba would have a hard time eating if that had happened. I'm really sorry, Baba!!

The best part of my 2nd birthday : I get a bicycle!! Yeayyy!! All those "nadhrah nak basikal.." (with a very cute face) pleas to Umi and Baba really worked, woohooo!! I wonder if next year I can do a "nadhrah nak kereta.." and I can get a car. Hahah!!

There's no big birthday party this year, with my birthday being so close to Ramadhan. Plus Umi and Baba is so busy with moving in to our new place. What? We have a new place? And we didn't tell you? Well, wait for our next next next next post ok...

ipoh trip - part 1

We went to Ipoh early this month. Baba had a friend's wedding, so we decided to extend the weekend and stay in Ipoh for 2 nights and jalan-jalan over there.

So what's in Ipoh? Well, apparently, not much. No offence to Ipoh-ans, but we didn't find that there was too much to do, albeit on a very short stay.

Nevertheless, it was a fun trip. The first day, after the wedding and freshening up at the hotel, we just wandered around and by chance, came to this park where there were people playing kites! Weehoo. Apparently we have a kite in the car (Baba borrowed it from a friend, planning to go to Kepong for some time, but never made it). So yeszaa... let's go kite-flying in Ipoh!!

Just 2 days to go before my birthday and I turn 2!! I'm still hopeful that Baba will get me that basikal that I so really really want. Just to make it more obvious to him, I put a picture of one in the new header that I'm putting above. hihihi...

And a day after that, Ramadhan will start and we Muslims will start our fasting. As for me, it's still not compulsory so I'll still be having my meals, although I need to put on my best behaviour in this blessed month. Til my next post (yg tak sure lagi bile)....

Didn't realise that the previous post was my post no. 100. And that makes this one post no. 101. Wohoo, a milestone!! Hahahha... Sure doesn't feel like one, what with the lack of updates.

Last 2 weekends, we were there at the bestest birthday party ever this year. There were balloons and water balloons, inflatables, swings, balls, bicycles, a sandpit and a really cool trampoline!! Although we came late and missed the birthday song and all, we sure did have a lot of fun. Thanks a lot to mommy of tripletsplusOne for the invite. (Baba is secretly asking whether we can do playdates becoz he wants to get on the trampoline again..)

Sadly we didn't bother with the camera becoz we're more interested with the toys and food (and nobody seems interested to snap our pics.. hahaha perasan femes walaupon tak sebenanye), so there were no pictures to share, only good memories in our hearts.

So I'll just leave you guys with this photo of nadhrah at another birthday party (dah basi punyer) so u can imagine that we were having fun at A birthday party...

I haven't uploaded the pics from KK yet, so let's have a belated update (which is nothing new for this blog here). Yeayyy, we went to Pusat Sains Negara!! We pass by the place almost every week on the way to TokMa's house in PJ, so it's a convenient stop-by.

The place could have been maintained better, but I still think it was one of the better places to bring a young kid like me, and we had so much fun. There were a lot of interactive displays, a lot of buttons to press, a lot of fun things to look at, and a lot of ground to cover in such a huge place. Oh yeah, and they're really educational too.

And at only RM6 per adult entry, it doesn't cost a bomb at all. Actually, it could have been RM4 with the J-card that we have, but Baba noticed the J-card notice quite too late, and the cashier lady was all "sori la encik, saya dah print dah tiket ni, so kene laa bayar harga penuh". Jeezzz..

look, Nadhrah!! big fishes!!

We were greeted by a large tunnel aquarium with a LOT of really huge fishes that would put the very expensive aquaria to shame. They even did a fish feeding session with a scuba diver while we were there, but because there's so much ground to cover, Umi decided just to skip it.

Unfortunately Umi and Baba forgot to charge the camera before deciding to come here, so we only managed to take a few pics before the battery went kaput. We also didn't stay around for long and skipped some of the displays cos Umi and Baba was getting hungry, and so was I. So here's just some of the pics we managed to snap there.

This is the Paddington bear slash bag that I got from Umi and Baba! Thanks so much Umi and Baba! Now not only I have another plushie in my growing collection of teddies, I also have a bag that I can carry around to bring my things along. Woohoo!!

The price tag? Well, some shampoos, health supplements, medicine and some more stuff from Guardian pharmacy, that's what. Heheh. I'm sure most of you are aware of the Paddington bear campaign by Guardian some time back. Basically you get one sticker with every RM25 worth of purchase, and you collect them to redeem the Paddington bear stuff. You get this bear/bag with the most number of stickers at 50, making the actual value to be RM25 x 50 = RM1,250!!

I'm sure you're thinking right now, "Spending RM1,250 for a bear??!!". Well, we really didn't spend that much. Thanks to many of Umi and Baba's friends who are kind enough to give them the stickers, although some of them regularly shop there and have more than 10 of them at a time.

Actually on the last day we can redeem those bears, we were still short of a few stickers to reach 50, so Baba had to buy some health supplements to get them. Way to go, Baba!! I'm sure you're much healthier now! Hehehe... (although no thanks to Ayah Ngah, who said he had 7 stickers, but then threw them away and couldn't find where they were!)

Umi said we could bring the bear/bag together with me when I'm gonna be travelling on the aeroplane for the first time in a few weeks' time. We're going to KK, yeay!! I can bring along my stuff together with me and put them nicely in encik paddington here.

Oh, we're gonna have so much fun!!

let's go crusing, babeh!

We went for a cruise tasik @ Putrajaya. Actually the first time we went (pic above), it was around 3PM that time and the next boat was around 5PM. So we decided to come back another day.

The following week, we went to Putrajaya again. Went straight to cruise tasik, to buy tickets for the 2PM boat. It was around noon at that time, so Umi and Baba decided to have lunch at the eateries @ Souq. When it was Zuhur time, Umi and Baba had to take turns to go to Masjid Putrajaya for prayers, while I kept myself busy eating.

Between all the time Umi and Baba going to prayer and having lunch in turns, it was already near 2PM! We wrapped up pretty quickly to go to the jetty....

.. and watch the cruise boat sail right in front of our eyes ..

yes, we missed the boat!!

They couldn't get the boat to turn around (obviously!). There were talk of sending us off to chase the cruise by using a smaller boat, but it didn't happen. But in the end, we had to wait for the next one at 3.30PM. We had some time to kill, so we headed to Alamanda. And boy, were Umi and Baba shopping really quickly. They were looking at their watches (actually they don't wear watches.. they use handphones to tell the time) all the time. We certainly weren't going to miss the boat the second time.

So we arrived around half an hour early. There were some activities going on at the jetty to keep ourself occupied watching them. Apparently you can book the place, book the boat, do some makan-makan over there for any functions. Coolness.

The cruise lasted for around 45 minutes, and we watched mainly government buildings (what else is interesting in Putrajaya, huh?) and some bridges and palaces, with commentary! Heheh. There were also some group from the Middle East together with us in the boat, so there was an extra translation in another language even Umi and Baba can't quite make out on the way back.

All in all it was quite a good way to spend some family time, albeit the price was a tad expensive than normal. Even the economic crisis can't stop these tourism guys to lower their prices, huh?

Pictures are from Baba's nokia handphone (can you believe that he forgot to bring the camera along?? sheeshhh..), so you have to bear with the picture quality, or rather lack of it.

ntv7 has this great show 'Big Ideas for A Small Planet' about how people (mainly in the US) do some pretty amazing things which can help the environment, and generate some business along the way. It's being shown on 7.30pm every.. err.. which day, I don't quite remember. I think it's on Thursdays.

Let's do more for the environment, babeh!!

Nadhrah used to have a problem eating. We try to make her eat as much healthy home made food as possible, but she just won't eat them. So we went to see our paed to lay down our concerns. She said it's just one of those times when play takes more priority than eating. It's true, nadhrah loves to play and play and play that sometimes she just doesn't want to do anything else.

So the paed said it's best that when it's supposed to be nadhrah's meal time, than we have to stop all play and make her focus only on eating. In our case, we bring her to the dinner table where all the food is prepared. She also gave us appeton with lysine to be given once a day to get nadhrah's appetite back up again. She told us not to be too worried as her weight is still inside the desired range on the growth chart.

Another advice she gave us was just try to feed her anything that she likes. I used to prepare porridge for her almost everyday, but I guess she got tired of that. So I tried different things everyday to see whether she would like it. But then again, I know that I can't keep repeating the same menu even if she like something, being afraid that she might get bored of that some day. Of course, we need to keep the diet balanced and get healthy food in there, not just all sugary and salty junk.

Alhamdulillah, her appetite is getting better now and we pretty much know her likes and dislikes, and also some patterns while eating. We found out that nadhrah loves spaghetti. In any form or way. Bolognaise, carbonara, aglio e olio... she would just chomp on them. When eating rice (no more porridge nowadays), she likes to have the dishes separately. She won't have the carrot or potato or chicken together with the rice. So I need to give her rice first, then the other dishes each on its own without mixing them.

She likes to eat with her own hands. It gets messier compared to when I spoon-feed her, but eating with her own hands will make her eat more, so I just bear with it. I think it's just that she sees what us adults do, and insist on doing it herself. E.g. even though she have her own straw bottle, but she likes to drink from a glass like everyone else.

It's all part of us discovering what our child loves, and it's so exciting when we get it spot on. I just wish that she'd take things slower than this rate, cos my little girl is growing up oh-so-fast...

We went to KL Bird Park!! Yeayy! Wayyy back during CNY holiday, actually. KL was quite empty save for a few who didn't go balik kampung like us. So around 4PM we just drove out to KL and went to KL Bird Park. There were signs that it was going to rain on the way, but in the end it was a great cloudy day, just perfect for an outdoor stroll.

Our camera seems to go weng nowadays. The pictures comes out extra bright, with white background being so prominent. But somehow it does give some sort of a classic+fantasy+fairy-tale feeling, I think.. Let's just enjoy the pictures...

for me, I'm just so excited to see all these birds everywhere. Kejar kejarrrrr!!!
