Celebrating the 20 year anniversary of its premiere on ITV in 2002 and ahead of a planned stage musical production, Big Broad Productions are releasing a first track from the upcoming ‘Footballers’ Wives The Musical’.
‘Don’t Lose It’ features West End star Alice Fearn (‘Wicked’, ‘Come From Away’) as vengeful and
mercurial team captain’s wife, Tanya Turner.
The track was arranged and produced by Auburn Jam Music. It will be released on 28 January, 2022 and will be available to stream from all major distributors.

A musical comedy noir based on the cult guilty pleasure 1980s TV drama, ‘Footballers’ Wives - The Musical’ has a book by Maureen Chadwick, co-creator of the original TV series, and music & lyrics by Kath Gotts (also co-creators of ‘Bad Girls - The Musical’).

‘Footballers’ Wives - The Musical’ is based around the first TV season, and follows the fall and rise of captain’s wife and old school femme fatale super-bitch Tanya Turner as she struggles to keep her marriage to footballer and lothario, Jason Turner, amidst groupies, meddling club chairmen, deception, betrayal and murder.

Let’s wind back to 2002 when Premier League Football was the new Rock ‘n’ Roll - with the money, the glamour and the bad behaviour to match. At Earls Park FC, the players’ wives are living it to the max. These WAGs have the designer gear, the palatial homes, the ash cars and the handsome superstar husbands - and the press pack on their kitten heels at every turn.

‘Footballers’ Wives - The Musical’ contains scenes of an adult nature and absolutely no football, along with disastrous hen and stag nights, a fairy tale wedding, deception, betrayal, Catholic guilt, and murder – plus a surprisingly happy ending.

It is based on the WBTVPUK series. Produced by special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre
Ventures. Co-producers are Arden Entertainment and Sally Humphreys Productions.

Multi-platinum recording artist Harry Styles has announced two additional stadium shows in Manchester at Emirates Old Trafford and London at Wembley Stadium on his global 2022 Love On Tour. The colossal 32-city outing now includes a total of five brand new stadium dates in the U.K. in June, and a further four stadiums in Europe. The tour will continue in July with rescheduled arena dates in Europe, as well as a new show at Accor Arena in Paris, before concluding in Latin America later this year. All existing tickets for rescheduled shows will remain valid.

Special guests include Mitski on the UK dates, Arlo Parks in Dublin, Wolf Alice on select European dates and Koffee across all Latin American dates. The tour will be following all local and public health guidelines as well as venue protocols set forth at the time of each show. Fans are encouraged to visit their local venue’s website ahead of each show for the latest health & safety details and requirements for their date.

BRIT Award-winning, multi-platinum selling musician George Ezra today announces his hugely anticipated new album Gold Rush Kid, due for release on 10 June via Columbia Records.

The Gold Rush Kid era begins today with the release of its euphoric first single and album opener ‘Anyone For You,’ available to stream and download now. The song arrives alongside a video that introduces the Gold Rush Kid to fans for the first time, whilst today also sees the announcement of a trio of intimate shows in Edinburgh, Manchester and London for February and March.

“The Gold Rush Kid? That’s me,” says George, reflecting on the title of his third record – a 12-strong suite of marvellous, transporting, elevational songs, that more than anything “sound like me. That’s what ties them together.”

After two blockbuster albums – Wanted On Voyage (2014) and Staying At Tamara’s (2018), both of which reached number 1 in the UK and sold millions around the world, and the latter of which earned him his first number 1 single in ‘Shotgun’ and won him the 2019 Brit Award for British Male Solo Artist – it was time to return to heart and hearth, with an album written and produced entirely in London with longstanding collaborator Joel Pott.

“‘Anyone For You’ is a patchwork of lyric ideas found in old notebooks and chance moments shared between musicians in the studio,” explains George. “It’s joyous and infectious, and I can’t help but smile every time I sing it.

Going through those notebooks, one of the first scribblings that caught his eye was a verse he’d written when he was 23, before even he’d begun work on his second album:“Tiger Lily moved to the city, she’d just turned 21, and I said: here’s my number, hit me up, if you’re needing anyone, and then I can be anyone anyone anyone anyone anyone for you…”

It kicks off a sparkling song that speaks of support and encouragement, and builds to a glorious singalong-a-George chorus:“Let me be your light!”

The song’s bounce, spring and sunny disposition belies its completion, then its recording, in Pott’s studio in southeast London in 2020. But like the album as a whole, it’s as if Ezra has alchemised the darkness of the last two years into revivifying, invigorating light.

The singer-songwriter will debut some of the album’s songs for the first time at a handful of intimate shows announced today. Tickets for the shows go on sale at 10am on 4th February.

The shows will be George’s first headline performances since two very special charity shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall in aid of Mind, in autumn 2019. Those shows marked the end of the mammoth Staying At Tamara’s tour which included two critically acclaimed sold out shows at London’s o2 Arena.

Not content with topping the album charts, in recent years George has also launched two podcasts, both of which reached number 1. George Ezra & Friends saw George in conversation with some of the world’s biggest pop stars, including Sir Elton John, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Sir Tom Jones, Nile Rodgers, Lily Allen, Craig David, Shania Twain, Lewis Capaldi and many more. 13th January 2022: Cirque du Soleil breathes life back into the Royal Albert Hall after over 600 days without a performance in the iconic venue.

2022 marks 25 years since Cirque du Soleil first brought its captivating magic to the Royal Albert Hall, and Luzia: A Waking Dream of Mexico doesn’t disappoint. With stunning set design, beautiful music and breath-taking acrobatics, the Daniel Finzi-Pasca directed show will have you picking your jaw up off the floor.

A whimsical storyline runs through the show, beginning with Fool Koller's loveable clown falling from the sky. He lands in the dreamy world and what ensues lives up to the show’s title; a tribute to Mexico’s natural landscape; with weird and wonderful creatures, lush flora and fauna and a rain machine which feels like a character in itself!

Needless to say, the acrobatics are awe-inspiring with some truly heart in mouth moments. There is every element you would hope for and expect from a circus, a juggler, tight-rope walker and acrobats flying through the air accompanied by a chorus of screams and gasps from the audience. The skill level is through the roof and the performers truly look like they are enjoying every moment.

An incredible show and electric atmosphere, Luzia: A Waking Dream of Mexico is an unforgettable experience.

Theatre Review: Jersey Boys - Trafalgar Theatre, London ✭✭✭✭

18 August 2021: It's been a long time since I stepped into a theatre to see a show due to COVID, over eighteen months or there abouts, so it was lovely to be back in an auditorium to see theatre re-opening to audiences again. The Trafalgar Theatre has been refurbished since my last visit, I remember it as a couple of studio spaces, and the new refurb is a welcome addition to the West End.

I last saw Jersey Boys around nine years ago at the Prince Edward Theatre, and back then I loved the show, so I was looking forward to seeing it again after so many years, and I wasn't disappointed.

The first thing that hits you is the industrial looking set design from Klara Zieglerova, it works well interjecting various video throughout along with many flown pieces for the different scenes. Beautifully lit by Howell Binkley with a sound design to match from Steve Canyon Kennedy, the music arrangements whether they are underscoring or being performed as a big number sound just right, not too loud or quiet and the vocals can be heard nicely in the venue.

Speaking of vocals, my word can this cast belt out a tune or two! The falsetto of Ben Joyce's Frankie Valli is quite remarkable, the energy and passion of his performance is outstanding. The same can be said for Adam Bailey as Bob Guardio, Karl James Wilson (Nick Massi) and Benjamin Yates (Tommy De Vito). When all the Four Lovers/Seasons sing together it is truly magnificent.

The rest of the hard working cast are playing so many characters its hard to keep up with who's who, they all do a grand job indeed. Musical Director Katy Richardson and her wonderful band sound delightful, like I said earlier, the arrangements are great. My Eyes Adored You filling the space sumptuously and Can't Take My Eyes Off You showcases all the brass and performers superbly.

Hats off to all the cast and technical staff for bringing this piece of musical theatre back to the West End, it is a very welcome return and Let's hang On (to What We've Got). Oh What A Night, I'm Beggin' you to get a ticket, maybe grab a Sherry in the interval and ask yourself one question... Who Loves You? Jersey Boys, that's who!

Newton Faulkner has announced the release of his new album "Interference (Of Light)" on August 20. The album will be released by Battenberg Records on vinyl, CD and digital formats.

Four years on from his last studio album, Newton Faulkner has been working throughout lockdown from his recording studio in East London, exploring a number of new and unexplored styles and musical ideas, using them as the building blocks for this album. Twisting these inside out, he has pushed himself further and further. “I’m not very precious any more,” he remarks. “The music is a bit chunkier, it’s definitely way heavier and much less acoustic than previously. I feel like the stuff I’ve written recently is simpler, but it’s tasteful… it works as songs. I can feel it.”

The first single ‘Together’ will be released in early June, ahead of the album release in August.

“Interference (Of Light)” is an album that has seen Newton push himself musically and vocally: “I want to boil things down to their strongest form,” Newton says. “It’s about the songs. However good you are at playing, if the voice isn’t up to scratch and the songs aren’t good enough, no one is going to listen to them. It’s grizzly, soulful, and a step further,” he says of his new material. “Vocally, I’ve learned a huge amount over the years. I was a guitarist and a writer who sang. That’s kind of where I came from. And now I feel like my voice has caught up with the stuff I was doing on guitar.”

Set to be released on August 20, and available to pre-order now, the new album “Interference (Of Light)” is Newton Faulkner at his most daring, and also his most familiar. Keeping to his trademark songwriting and storytelling, this album reflects his feelings on current times. “I don’t think things get better or worse. They just change,” he remarks. “I’ve kind of purposefully steered away from any of the cliques that have appeared around me. I’ve just remained this weird, solitary figure. I love it!”

The album will be released on vinyl, CD and digital formats, all featuring different tracklists as Newton explains: “The way people listen to music has changed dramatically in the time I’ve been making and releasing music and, for me, each medium has a different purpose and requires a different approach. Interludes, a huge part of ‘Hand Built By Robots’, make no sense being streamed on an online playlist, but work amazingly on a CD and vinyl is different experience again. So I’ve decided to package this album differently for each format; streaming sites will get a 17 track album, with no interludes clogging up your shuffles, the CD will be 17 tracks plus interludes for a smoother flow, and the vinyl will be 11 tracks specially curated, by me, to work on one disk with the best possible flow from one side to the other and the best possible sound.”

Since the release of his debut album “Hand Built By Robots” in 2007 (featuring the smash hit ‘Dream Catch Me’), Newton Faulkner has become one of the UK’s most successful singer-songwriters of this millennium. Later this year, he will be heading out on tour to play to live music-starved fans across the UK, starting with a few socially distanced gigs, many of which are already sold out.

Historic Royal Palaces and IMG are delighted to announce today the hotly anticipated return of live music to Hampton Court Palace in August 2021. Traditionally held in June, this year’s Hampton Court Palace Festival has been rescheduled following the government’s roadmap announcements and will take place two months later in August. Legendary artist Tom Jones, music icon Van Morrison, indie idols Bastille ReOrchestrated, British rock heroes Keane and Swedish sensations Björn Again join this year’s line-up. The festival will open on Friday 13 August with legendary artist, Van Morrison. Entering the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007 and winning an Americana, BRIT and Grammy award for his outstanding contribution to music, Van Morrison is a true icon. From Brown Eyed Girl to Moondance, the impact of the OBE awarded, global sensation’s artistry on the music industry is inconceivable and his legacy stronger than ever.

Global sensations Björn Again will return to the Hampton Court stage with an unforgettable show of much-loved ABBA songs and 70’s fun on Saturday 14 August. Their internationally acclaimed show has been performed in 71 countries over 35 years, amassing over 5,000 performances and is acknowledged for initiating the ABBA revival.

Following their critically acclaimed 2018 ReOrchestrated tour, on Tuesday 17 August and Wednesday 18 August attendees will see Brit-nominated Bastille reprise a selection of songs from their three albums (Bad Blood, Wild World, Doom Days); re-imagining, deconstructing and rearranging their iconic songs with a 20-piece orchestra and choir.

Keane first skyrocketed to fame back in 2004 with their debut album, Hopes and Fears, which featured alternative rock anthems such as Everybody’s Changing and Somewhere Only We Know, the album was awarded the 2005 Brit Award for Best British Album. Having taken a hiatus back in 2013, the quartet are now back after releasing their stunning fifth studio album, Cause and Effect. The band will grace the stage at Hampton Court Palace Festival on Thursday 19 August.

“The Voice” coach and music legend, Tom Jones, returns to the Hampton Court stage, after a crowd rousing performance in 2018. He will be singing hits from his unrivalled repertoire and a career spanning more than 50 years, such as timeless classics Delilah, What’s New Pussycat and It’s Not Unusual. Tom Jones performs on Monday 23 August and Tuesday 24 August.

Previously announced international superstar, Lionel Richie, soul-pop phenomenon Rick Astley and jazz marvel George Benson will return to Hampton Court Palace Festival in 2022 when the festival returns to its usual month of June.

Gig Review: Jamie Cullum and support Tawiah - York Barbican (UK Tour) ✭✭✭✭✭

11th March 2020: The evening began quiet and relaxed, a near to full York Barbican eagerly awaiting the main act. The show opened with Tawiah, an upcoming British neo soul singer from London. Accompanied by her guitarist, Tawiah’s melodic soulful voice filled the arena and captivated the audience. Tawiah spoke of her music and her background in between songs and engaged with the audience throughout. Performing songs from her debut album “Starts Again” showcasing her incredible voice and talents as a musician on the guitar and keyboard alongside Alex Reeve on guitar. Closing her act, Tawiah spoke of her strict Pentecostal upbringing and a heart-warming tale of her Ghanaian Great Grandmother who lived to be 103 and how at her 100^th Birthday Tawiah recorded her singing her favourite hymn, which opens her song “Mother’s Prayer”, stating she now takes her Great Grandmother on tour with her - definitely a lump in the throat moment! The audience were enthralled by Tawiah’s talents, showing their appreciation as she left the stage.

After a short interval the lights went back down again and on stage arrived Jamie Cullum and his band of 5 musicians and 2 female vocalists. Opening with a harmonious version of “Mankind” from his 2019 album Taller accompanied only by a guitar and double bass, the audience were gripped from the go. Jamie, now age 40, still looking as youthful as ever with a voice as soulful and pleasing to the ear as when he first hit the scene over 20 years ago, wowed the crowd with his skin tight sequinned trousers!

Jamie then led straight into the song “Taller” energetically playing his grand piano and demonstrating his signature piano playing-come-dancing, warming the crowd up and introducing his band members. It was then time for an old favourite from 2005’s Catching Tales, “Get Your Way” which really got everyone’s feet tapping along and enjoying the sounds from the brass and wind instruments. Jamie conversed with the Audience throughout “Get Your Way” encouraging screams and clapping which the audience were only too happy to oblige.

After another song from the latest album (“drink”) Jamie performed another classic from the popular 2003 album Twentysomething, “I Get A Kick Out Of You” during which each band member had the opportunity to showcase their amazing talents on their instruments.

The respect Jamie has for his band and vocalists was evident throughout, the relationships shining through the banter, Jamie leading a chorus of “Happy Birthday” to his drummer whose 34^th birthday it was and how lucky he was to be spending it in York!

The band left the stage and Jamie was left alone with just him and his piano to perform his cover of the classic hit “What A Difference A Day Makes” from Twentysomething. Appreciative “whoops” from the audience were given throughout the track, everyone fully immersed in Jamie and his ballad.

As Jamie introduced his next track with the band now back on stage, he joked about the current state of affairs and how we need anything more to be anxious about! Singing “age of anxiety” the lyrics really showed his insecurities he had earlier talked about relating to his career (“will my career reignite?”) and heartfelt references to his family and friends such as the Late Amy Winehouse as well as touching upon world political matters referring to the European Exit. Jamie got the crowd involved in a sing off, splitting the arena with choruses of “whoa whoa” and “only love survives of us”

The audience were in for a real treat during his next song, “When I Get Famous” an accolade to the girls who ignored him at school. Jamie took the audience participation to the next level and jumped off stage, singing and dancing up the auditorium stairs much to the annoyance of the security man whom he tried to engage in dancing with, who luckily took it in good humour!

Jamie, now back on stage led “when I get famous” into a piano version of a slim shady track to which his guitarist showed off his talents with a solo.

An acapella start to the song All At Sea which Jamie described as a song he wrote at 19 proved he is a natural born song writer and performer from an early age. As the tempo increased Jamie let the crowd into a little secret saying they didn’t have to stay in their seats and if everyone came down to the front at once for a dance there would be nothing the men in the polo shirts could do about it, echoing what he had said at the start of the show about it being his show and whatever he said went! The crowd did as Jamie asked and the front of the auditorium in front of the stage was soon bopping with heads and hands in the air. Jamie’s sense of humour shone through when he demonstrated how to dance with no inhibitions, like no one was watching and encouraged the crowd to all do so at the same time after the count of 4, building the suspension to the count down with the crowd clapping along to Jamie’s chants of “wait till I count to 4”. The audience, in true reflection of the night, obliged and it’s unlikely there was a person in there who wasn’t giving it large!

The carnival atmosphere continued as Jamie and his band went off stage and appeared with drums attached to them performing a marching band end to the track and the night with Jamie saying his thank yous and goodbyes and he and the band leaving the stage, or was it the end...?

There was of course cries of “more” and Jamie and the band swiftly arrived back on stage to perform the encore of “You and Me Are Gone” (The Pursuit, 2009) during which the talented clarinet player took to the front of the stage to perform a solo which was amazingly executed and flawless (apart from him almost getting the giggles at the crowds heckles) and finished off by an outstanding drum solo from his drummer.

Jamie asked the excited audience if they would like one more which of course they did! Jamie took his seat once more at the piano for “You’re Nobody Till Somebody Loves You”, which finally closed the almost 2 hour performance leaving everyone feeling euphoric and satisfied.

Jamie engaged with the audience throughout the night and conversed in shout outs, often almost collapsing into a fit of giggles, demonstrating he still thrives off the banter and audience participation as well as his love of music and performing. A huge amount of credit should also go to his amazingly talented band and vocalists, they were just as remarkable as Jamie himself was and they really made the show.

Jamie Cullum proved tonight he is as much the soulful jazz singer as he is the dynamic showman he always was, captivating the crowds with his melodic tones and energetic performances throughout the night. He may not be any Taller in stature but after tonight’s performance he has shown he is not just that Twentysomething he once was.

Strictly limited season begins at Adelphi Theatre on 11 August 2020

Today Michael Harrison and David Ian are thrilled to announce full casting for Hello, Dolly! as one of the most iconic musicals of all time comes to the Adelphi Theatre this summer. This brand new production is headlined by Imelda Staunton, as she reunites with director Dominic Cooke, following the critically acclaimed production of Follies at the National Theatre.

With an unforgettable score by the legendary Jerry Herman, Hello, Dolly! will begin performances at the Adelphi Theatre in London on Tuesday 11 August 2020 for a strictly limited 30-week season (Press Night: Thursday 27 August 2020).

Joining the previously announced Imelda Staunton, Andy Nyman and Jenna Russell will be Clare Halse, who will play Minnie Fay. She starred in the lead role of Peggy Sawyer in the iconic Broadway musical 42^nd Street at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Her West End credits also include Gypsy and A White Christmas.

Harry Hepple, who will play Cornelius Hackl, has previously performed in Follies at the National Theatre and Romantics Anonymous at Bristol Old Vic.

Tyrone Huntley, who will play Barnaby Tucker. Tyrone was nominated for an Olivier Award for his performance as Judas in the widely acclaimed production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. He was also previously in the original London casts of Dreamgirls and The Book of Mormon.

Andy Nyman, who will play Horace Vandergelder, is a multi-award winning actor, writer and director. Most recently he won unanimous acclaim and is Olivier Award nominated for his memorable portrayal of Tevye in the celebrated production of Fiddler On The Roof at the Menier Chocolate Factory and its subsequent transfer to the Playhouse Theatre.

Nyman's acting credits include the Royal Court production of Hangmen and the West End hit Ghost Stories, which he also created and starred in the film adaptation. His various TV roles include Winston Churchill in Peaky Blinders and he has frequently collaborated with illusionist Derren Brown, co-writing and co-directing four of his stage shows.

Olivier Award winner Jenna Russell will play Irene Molloy. Jenna recently starred in the UK premiere of The Bridges of Madison County. She won an Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 2006 for her performance in Sunday In The Park With George at the Menier Chocolate Factory (a performance she later reprised on Broadway) and was nominated for her work in the Menier’s 2012 revival of Merrily We Roll Along. She also appeared in the acclaimed, London premiere production of Fun Home the Young Vic.

Multi Olivier and BAFTA Award winning Imelda Staunton plays meddlesome socialite turned matchmaker Dolly Levi, as she travels to Yonkers, New York to find a match for the miserly, unmarried ‘half-a-millionaire’ Horace Vandergelder. But everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is for herself.

The Last Domino? Tour 2020 starts in Dublin on 16 November and will be Tony Banks, Phil Collinsand Mike Rutherford’s first live outing together since the globe-trotting, sell-out Turn It On Again: The Tour in 2007. They will be joined on stage by Nic Collins on drums, and the bands long time guitar and bass player Daryl Stuermer.

The Last Domino? Tour 2020 starts in Dublin on 16 November and will be Tony Banks, Phil Collinsand Mike Rutherford’s first live outing together since the globe-trotting, sell-out Turn It On Again: The Tour in 2007. They will be joined on stage by Nic Collins on drums, and the bands long time guitar and bass player Daryl Stuermer.

Theatre Review: On Your Feet - King's Theatre, Glasgow ✭✭✭✭

On Your Feet tells the true story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan's rise to worldwide success. They in fact open the show with a humorous pre-recorded message encouraging theatregoers to switch their phones off. It sets the tone for their playful relationship before the curtain even goes up.

The show is high energy, colourful, infectiously joyous and also an emotional rollercoaster. It charts the rise of Gloria from humble beginnings as the daughter of Cuban immigrants to global domination starting with the Miami Sound Machine before her solo success beckoned. It doesn't shy away from the challenging aspects of her life including her father's battle with Multiple Sclerosis and a difficult relationship with her mother as the band's success began to grow. Alexander Dinelaris's book sensitively handles this and weaves it into a rich narrative however, at some points key plot moments do feel a little rushed but given the number of years the show spans, it is perhaps to be expected.

Sergio Trujillo's choreography takes the backdrop of this iconic Cuban sound and sets the stage alight creating full cast numbers that leave the audience itching to get on their feet and join in with these incredible dancers.

Philippa Stefani is outstanding as Gloria. She captures Gloria's distinctive, effervescent persona as well as her more private side exquisitely. Her vocals are phenomenal and the rhythm really will get you, as she dances across the stage delivering hit after hit. George Ionnides's Emilio complements Stefani's Gloria perfectly and the pair tell the Estefans' story beautifully and with heart. Their scenes following the tragic accident are particularly heart-wrenching and highlight the strength of the Estefans. Madalena Alberto shines as Gloria's mother with a wonderful scene set in Cuba proving to be a real highlight of the show. Laura Friedrich Tejero's Consuelo brings much needed light relief in key moments as well as the fierce Latin heritage.

On Your Feet would be easy to write off as a straightforward jukebox musical but this is a wonderful staging of a true love story that addresses key issues such as racism that are as important today as when Emilio and Gloria were fighting to becoming crossover artists in the US market in the 80s.

It is bursting with sunshine and the perfect pick me up. Tickets are available now, don't miss this chance to get on your feet and do the conga!

Theatre Review: The Prince of Egypt - Dominion Theatre, London ✭✭✭

26th February 2020: The Prince of Egypt is a musical that is new to the West End – the production is based on the 1998 DreamWorks animated film, with an entirely reworked score and ten brand new songs. The story follows the plot of the movie closely, beginning with charting Moses’s youth growing up in the palace with his brother Ramses, to his discovery that he is Hebrew and was adopted by the Pharaoh's wife Queen Tuya as a baby.

The biggest struggle for any new musical is to get the songs right – if the music works then the rest of the production will fit around it. Unfortunately in this show the new songs just aren’t memorable enough – the film’s original soundtrack song ‘When You Believe’ is a real strength, and there’s a stunning solo from Tanisha Spring as Nefertari called ‘Heartless’, in which she mourns the death of her young son, but otherwise many of the songs seem too similar to really stand out. The script is also equally uneven: there are some pantomime-esque comic moments that seem a little at odds with the grand, epic scale of the story.

On the other hand, one of the highlights of this show is the cast – they are all extremely committed to the show and to their roles, and help to energise the material. Special mention should go to Alexia Khadime, who has a truly stunning voice and brings real heart and passion to the role of Moses’s sister Miriam. Luke Brady and Liam Tamne create a believable brotherly bond as Moses and Ramses respectively, and Gary Wilmot brings a kind and comic energy to the character of Jethro.

The production is also visually stunning – several of the key scenes such as the burning bush and the river of blood are recreated with members of the ensemble, and the parting of the Red Sea is a particularly impressive moment. The dance element of the show is very strong, and none of the ensemble missed a beat in some extremely complicated routines.

If you’re looking for a new soundtrack that you can play on repeat to replace Hamilton then this might not be the show for you. However, there was an excellent and lively atmosphere in the performance I saw and the audience certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves. If you’re a fan of the original film and looking for a fun evening out with some fantastic dancing and excellent special effects, this show is definitely worth a look.

In time for romantics around the world to serenade their loved ones, this Valentines Day the legendary Billy Ocean shares a new song, ‘Nothing Will Stand In Our Way’. The track is the second to be taken from the forthcoming album ‘One World’, which is released on 17 April through Sony Music. Listen to ‘Nothing Will Stand In Our Way’ here.

No stranger to writing and performing some of the greatest love songs ever, Billy’s new track (co-written and produced by long term collaborator Billy Eastman) follows the title track from ‘One World’ which has been a massive radio hit, gaining a spot on the coveted BBC Radio 2 A-List.

Today also sees the artwork being unveiled for the new album shot by the renowned photographer Dean Chalkey.

Billy Ocean today said “The fundamental element of any relationship is based on love, because love” encompasses all. For example, if we look at the relationship between two people and extend it to a community, even further to a country, even further still to the world, the same ingredients are required to make it work. The things that can affect the recipe of love are negativity, hate, and mistrust. Whether looking at it from a matrimonial point of view, or a political one, those things have to be thrown aside to let the light of love shine through. Hence, “nothing will stand in our way.”

Following the album release, 2020 is shaping up to be a bumper year for Billy Ocean. He will be receiving his newly-announced MBE for Services to Music then, he will embark on the One World Tour around the UK, kicking off in Glasgow on 18 September.

Billy Ocean is a Grammy Award winner with worldwide sales of over 30 million. He hit the number one spot across three continents in the 70s and 80s, counting no fewer than six UK top 10 singles. ‘Caribbean Queen’ stormed to number one on both the US singles chart and US R&B chart and is amongst Billy’s six US top 10 singles. With top 10 albums the world over, Billy has notched up an impressive three Platinum albums (including two which are certified 2x Platinum).

The album sees Billy reunite with producer Barry Eastmond who wrote and produced a number of Billy’s biggest hits including When The Going Gets Tough and Love Zone. Recorded over the summer of 2019 in studios in Manchester and New York Billy co-wrote all 12 tracks on the album.

Waitress is based on the 2007 movie written by Adrienne Shelley. Music and lyrics are written by GRAMMY award-winning, singer-songwriter sensation Sara Bareilles, who recently appeared on the Graham Norton TV show, performing the hit song from the show She Used To Be Mine. With a book by Jessie Nelson, direction by Tony-award winner Diane Paulus and choreography by Lorin Latarro, Waitress has garnered multiple awards and nominations in both America and the UK, receiving acclaim from both audiences and critics alike.

Waitress opened on Broadway on 24th April 2016 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, where it ran until 5th January 2020. Waitresscelebrated its official opening night at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End on 7 March 2019. In addition to London, Waitressis currently on a North American tour, and is set to open in Australia, the Netherlands and Japan.

Waitress tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes to happiness. But Jenna must find the courage and strength within herself to rebuild her life. This beautiful musical celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.

Carrie Hope Fletcher has starred in Heathers (Theatre Royal Haymarket), The Addams Family (UK Tour), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (UK Tour), Mary Poppins (Prince Edward Theatre), and is currently playing Fantine in Les Miserables at the newly named Sondheim Theatre.

Carrie is the recipient of 3 Whatsonstage Awards and a prolific writer of children’s Fiction. Her passionate support for body positivity has, together with her acting, music and writing career, attracted loyal followings across her social media platforms and saw her named in the 2019 Sunday Times Influencer List as one of the top 100 influencers in the United Kingdom.

The production, a complete reinvention of the classic fairytale, is based on an original idea by Emerald Fennell, the Emmy Award nominated lead scriptwriter of the second season of international smash hit Killing Eve, with a brand new score from the legendary composer and lyrics by David Zippel.

Fennell’s new film A Promising Young Woman, that she has written and directed and which stars Carey Mulligan, will open this Spring. As an actress she played Patsy Mount on the BBC’s Call The Midwife and currently depicts Camilla Parker Bowles on the Netflix hit The Crown.

The show’s lyrics are by David Zippel, a multi-award winner for Broadway productions including City of Angels, The Goodbye Girl, The Woman in White and Liza at the Palace, as well as for work on film including Disney’s Hercules and Mulan, both of which received Oscar nominations.

Cinderella will be directed by Laurence Connor, with choreography from JoAnn Hunter, who previously partnered on School of Rock and the recent, sold out production of Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The London Palladium.

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that Carrie will be our Cinderella at the Gillian Lynne Theatre this Autumn. She has totally wowed my fellow writers and creative team and was a big success at the sing through of the show late last year.

Samantha Womack and Cameron Blakely will revive their much loved roles as Morticia and Gomez Addams in the new UK & Ireland Tour of THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a musical comedy, with book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, the creators of multi award-winning Jersey Boys, and music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, based on the characters created by Charles Addams. This follows a highly successful premiere tour in 2017. The 2020 Tour will open at the Newcastle Theatre Royal on 30 July 2020 and will once again be directed by Matthew White. Further casting is to be announced.

Samantha Womack is best known for her long-running role as Ronnie Mitchell in BBC1’s EastEnders. Most recently, Samantha guest starred in last year’s series of Silent Witness and she has also played Tanya Dawson for three series of the hit comedy Mount Pleasant, Ingrid in Home Again, Ruth in Babes in the Wood, Imogen in Imogen’s Face and Mandy in the hugely popular Game On. Samantha's film credits include the box office breaking Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Kingsman: The Secret Service. Her stage credits include Nellie Forbush in the Lincoln Center Theater's Tony Award-winning production of South Pacific (Barbican Theatre & UK Tour), Michael Grandage's West End production of Guys & Dolls opposite Patrick Swayze (Piccadilly Theatre) and Peter Hall's production of Pinter's Betrayal (Theatre Royal Bath). Most recently, Samantha starred in The Girl on the Train in the West End and on a UK Tour.

Cameron Blakely’s previous theatre credits include the role of Thenardier in Les Misérables, a role he played for two years in London’s West End. Cameron was also part of the 25^th Anniversary at the O2, where he played Bamatabois. Other credits include Smee in Stiles and Drewe’s Peter Pan at the Adelphi Theatre and Fagin in Oliver! at The Watermill Theatre. He has also appeared in many productions at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet and The Taming of the Shrew. Most recently, he played Dennis Dupree in the UK Tour of Rock of Ages, and Lex Hogan in Eugenius! at The Other Palace.

Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and has a shocking secret that only Gomez knows; she’s fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family! Academy Award-winner Marshall Brickman wrote or co-wrote the film screenplays for Sleeper, Annie Hall, Manhattan, Manhattan Murder Mystery, For the Boys and Intersection, and was head writer for The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Rick Elice’s play, Peter and the Starcatcher, received nine nominations and won five 2012 Tony Awards. He also wrote the book for The Cher Show, a musical based on the early life and career of Cher, which opened at the Neil Simon Theatre on Broadway in December 2018. Andrew Lippa wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway musical, Big Fish, the music for the Broadway production of Aaron Sorkin’s play The Farnsworth Invention and the book, music and lyrics for the Drama Desk award-winning musical The Wild Party. He wrote the song called ‘Evil Like Me’, which was sung by Dove Cameron and Kristin Chenoweth in the 2015 Disney film Descendants.

British director Matthew White has directed the UK Tours of Mr Stink, Carousel and The Producers, the UK Tour and West End run of the multi award-winning Top Hat, and, for the Menier Chocolate Factory, The Boy Friend, She Loves Me, Candide, Sweet Charity (and West End) and Little Shop of Horrors (and West End).

Y Not Festival returns in full force for 2020! With a mix of music’s newest stars and treasured legends, this year’s bill is set to go down in Y Not history. Brighton-based rock duo Royal Blood will take to the stage on Saturday 25th July. They smashed onto the scene in 2014 with their iconic self-titled record, including hit single Figure It Out, and have since gone on to win multiple BRIT Award, Kerrang! and Q Awards. Bring it on!

The legendary Richard Ashcroft is our Sunday headliner and will be bringing 30 years’ worth of hits to the Y Not stage. Rising to prominence in the early 90s as frontman for the seminal band The Verve, Ashcroft has since carved out a very successful solo career. To date he has scored five top 10 albums and he’ll bring a mix of new and old on the final day of Y Not - including his latest album ‘Natural Rebel’.

Flying the flag for R&B and UKG lovers is none other than renaissance man Craig David. His resurgence over the last 5 years has shown no signs of slowing down. Rag’n’Bone Man shot to success in 2016 and has the fastest-selling debut album by a male artist of the 2010s. It is today announced that, for the very first time, musician Jools Holland and his celebrated Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will be joined by music legend Leo Sayer on their renowned Autumn/Winter tour, which is now in its 24^th year. Original Squeeze chum Chris Difford returns to the stage with Jools, whilst Ali Campbell and Astro from UB40 are set to play three exclusive shows. This year the tour enters its 24^th year and highlights will include two performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 13 and 14 November, Birmingham Symphony Hall on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 November and Nottingham Royal Concert Hall on Wednesday 2 December.

Jools Holland and The Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will once again take their much-loved annual tour around the UK featuring dazzling long-term vocalist Ruby Turner, with her breathtaking gospel, soul, blues vocals and songs written with Jools, as well as Louise Marshall, whose mellifluous voice illuminates all she sings. Also on tour is original Squeeze member and powerhouse Gilson Lavis on drums.

In addition, for the very first time, the tour will be joined by singer-songwriter Leo Sayer from 29 October – 20 December, Chris Diffordfrom 22 October – 28 November and 20 December. For three exclusive nights Ali Campbell and Astro from UB40 will join Jools and his orchestra on the following dates: 7 November in Guildford and 13 and 14 November at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London.

Leo Sayer is an extraordinary global musical success story with his first seven hit singles in the United Kingdom all reaching the Top 10. A prolific songwriter, he is responsible for writing songs such as “When I Need You”, “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing”, “Thunder In My Heart” and many other hits covered by artists all over the world.

Followers of Jools Holland will be familiar with his Squeeze co-founder, sometimes songwriting and touring partner, Chris Difford. As well as his work with Glen Tilbrook in Squeeze, he’s written with Elton John, Paul Carrack, Lisa Stansfield, Bryan Ferry, Helen Shapiro, Elvis Costello and, of course, Jools Holland, who describes him as ‘the John Lennon of London, the John Betjeman of Blackheath and the Alain Delon of Deptford’.

Ali Campbell and Astro from UB40 have enjoyed incredible success with live touring and recorded music over the last five years, including top ten albums Silhouette and Unplugged, and in 2018 they reached number two in the charts with the critically acclaimed A Real Labour Of Love.

Previous special guests who have performed with Jools on his UK tours include the likes of Eddi Reader, Lulu, Joss Stone, Roland Gift, Melanie C and Marc Almond.

The critically-acclaimed artist is soon to head out on a headline 2020 UK and Ireland tour which includes two nights at the London Palladium. Beginning in Dublin on the 9th March, the now 14-date tour will see Jamie perform live at venues across the UK including two consecutive nights at the iconic London Palladium. His dynamic live performances have always captured the attention of the audience through Jamie’s undeniable energy, boundless talent and stage presence.

Jamie says, ’It’s going to be so fun playing this new music out on tour with my incredible band. We’re going to draw on these new songs and reinvent plenty of old ones too. The Taller 2020 tour is going to be a memorable one!”

Triple Platinum selling musician and multi-instrumentalist, Jamie Cullum, released ‘Taller’ (Expanded Edition) - ten of his original songs, accompanied by eight new and unheard tracks. Disc 2 included two brand-new Christmas songs, as well as six tracks from his covers project, Song Society.

The latest album ‘Taller’ sees Jamie bravely explore more personal subject matter with a fresh sense of authenticity, each song reflecting a desire to grow and learn and explore life for the beautiful muddle it is.

Title track ‘Taller’ lyrically shows an emotional honesty which is explored throughout the album. Of title track ‘Taller’, Jamie says, “Historically there has been jokes about my physical stature and being married to a taller woman - so I wanted to own it. Using this as a jumping off point it became a song about the need to grow within your relationship and meet each other eye to eye, allowing room for both darkness and light.”

Other tracks on the album have prominent funk, pop and gospel influences such as ‘Usher’, ‘Drink’ and the powerful ‘Mankind,’ whose lyrics are a soulful collective call for an alienated society. What’s obvious throughout the album is that Jamie is not seeking approval, but writing music which feels true to him, letting his feelings dictate the creative process.

Jamie says, ‘’This album is really a love letter to my wife. It’s an album of my songs that takes stock of where I am right now. They were my working notes for life. My ‘Fortysomething' if you will. I wanted to put aside whether it was a jazz record, whether it was ticking this or that box. The songs would be king and they would be honest. I feel more proud of this than anything I’ve done’’
