With the new year comes a new release from the team that brought you Chew-WGA and Chew7, now partnering with secr9tos and Fibonacci from The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (known for their development of R2 Converter). We present a new era of activation technology in our release of HAL7600, affectionately named after the HAL 9000 sentient on-board computer of the Discovery One spacecraft in Arthur C. v1.2 Change Log:

Fixed several small glitches by adding more error checking, so there shouldn't be as many runtime errors (hopefully none).
Change the icon settings so that it would show the appropriate icon in the taskbar button.
Removed the exit button and replaced it by making a top panel and putting a custom exit button in the top right corner.
Added hash checking to verify if the HAL patch was already installed, and then made it to automatically choose which button to show, install or uninstall.
Merged the location of the install and uninstall button since only one was needed visible at a time.
Edited the GUI background image to have less space between the top logo and the HAL eye, so that a single install/uninstall button wouldn't look so strange all by itself.
Changed the buttons into graphics and added image changeover effects to the corner exit button, and the install/uninstall buttons.
Adjusted the size of the form to match that of the new GUI background image, and also adjusted the positions of the Tools and Credits buttons, and the bottom console multiline textbox.
Change autoscroll settings to be more fluid, keeping up with the carat rather than scrolling from the top at every console update.
Added some common sense things, like hiding buttons during install/uninstall, and exiting when a restart is pending or a failed install/uninstall occurs.
Added a services startup type checker which automatically sets sppuinotify to the appropriate startup type automatically, since other tools seem to like to mess with these settings when they also disable sppsvc, so as soon as sppsvc starts up again it ultimately would cause nags.
A bunch of other little coding things that I don't have the patience to explain, but kept me up all night on several occasions. =)

Added a patching mechanism fix for the Windows Software Licensing Management Tool that should hopefully prevent it from being deleted unexpectedly, which in turn may actually solve several other seemingly unrelated problems, including the rearm reset not taking place, a dialog popping up at logon that says Ignore Ignore Ignore, a windows activation dialog that asks for the product key at logon, the "Status not available" message in computer properties, and WMI queries not working and just going blank.
Removed an unnecessary registry backup & restore of a Windows Product Activation registry key.
Removed an unnecessary service start.
Added working directory specification that might help minimize problems with the rearm reset not working for some systems.

We decided to just release it instead of going through a bunch of beta testing cycles, so if you find some bugs, please report them so they can be fixed.
Reposting the download link in other places on the internet is encouraged, but please don't mirror unless we have trouble with the current file host. The reason for this is that I'd like to be able to keep track of the number of downloads. Thanks.

Installation Tips:

Disable all anti-malware programs (anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc.) before installation, and exclude any resource blips that these tools warn you about. There are no viruses or malicioius code of any kind in HAL7600. Additionally, it was created by credible developers: Fibonacci, anemeros, and secr9tos.
Make sure your system clock is correct. Run "timedate.cpl", click the "Internet Time" tab, click the "Change Settings" button, select the server appropriate for you, then click the "Update Now" button. If it fails, try again and switch servers if necessary.
Ensure that all other activators are uninstalled, including Chew-WGA, Chew7, IR4, RemoveWAT, Daz's Loader, and any other loaders or BIOS mods. After uninstalling potentially conflicting software, also run "SFC /scannow" in an elevated command prompt, let it finish scanning, and then restart the computer before installing HAL7600.
Run "services.msc" to open the Microsoft Management Console services snap-in. Then verify that the startup type for "Software Protection" is set to "Automatic (Delayed Start)", and then verify that the startup type for "SPP Notification Service" is set to "Manual".
Uninstall KB971033 unless you need it, or rename WatAdminSvc.exe until you want to use it for something (can't imagine why anyone would need WAT in the first place, but hey).
Since HAL7600 was created in Visual Studio 2010, you need to make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile installed in order to run it. You can download .NET 4 from Microsoft and I've uploaded it at DataFileHost if you need a separate link.

This tool will simply disable Windows 8's Timebomb and activate it. I know there are billions ways and tutorials to activate this stuff but this is the easiest way I think.

1. How does it work?

Simply. Timebomb is removed by replacing tokens and store folders by Windows 7 Enterprise's ones (build 7600). Activation is done by ZWT's KMS Keygen which allows you to activate Windows (and Office) VL offline.

2. Instructions:

Boot in Safe Mode (hit F8 few times just after BIOS disappears).
Run this program and click Remove Timebomb.
After success, restart computer.
Run this program again and click Activate.
Restart again and voila!
Repeat activation every 180 days.

No ****ing watermark, timebomb, activation!

3. Additional info
You can enable or disable Watermark after successful activation. You can also enable hidden features like RibbonUI and Modern Task Manager, PDF Reader, WebCam.

If you have any problems, try running application and look into C:\Activator folder. There are all the files Activator use. This folder will be moved and hidden in further releases.

4. Known Issues
You can overwrite backups by patched one so it will **** the recover.

Chew7 is the only activation solution that disables the loathed "calling home" feature (spyware) that is embedded into the software protection platform of Windows. In Windows XP days, when WGA was first released, it quickly became apparent to the more self conscious technologically inclined users, that Microsoft was retrieving personally identifiable information from its users without notice on a daily basis (every time the system boots up and then on a 24 hour interval after that). Now they have switched to a robust "software protection platform" built into the framework of the operating system itself, and they've changed this 24 hour grab interval to something much less conspicuous — 14 days, so it's no wonder most people haven't caught on to what's happening. Even with a firewall installed, most of us are inclined to simply ignore notices about Windows components connecting to the internet without apparent cause. Private information like names and internet protocol addresses, browsing history, and sometimes even files that they deem to require further investigation, are being sent over the internet. What do they do with all this information? It's anyone's guess, but the way we see it, it's certainly an invasion of rights to privacy. Will they admit to it? Probably not; it's spyware after all.

Introduction:

Once you use an OEM product key, it gets associated with the hardware that is present at the time of activation, and if you alter your hardware configuration by more than a given threshold, Windows assumes you are attempting to use the same license key on multiple computers. What happens next is Windows turns on a nasty feature callednotification mode which consists of a forced solid black wallpaper, frequent popup reminders to Activate

Windows, and automatic reboots without notice.

Basically, if you upgrade your hardware, you will be punished for it until you revalidate your license by calling the Microsoft support number, in which case, they still might not help you.

This is quite the nuisance, so the Chew7 software aims to allow license-owners to enjoy their legally obtained operating system without interruption.

Installation:

(For users on a fresh install of Windows, you don't need these instructions.)

Windows Marketplace is the official apps repository where apps can be searched, downloaded and installed onto a Windows Phone 7 mobile device. The Windows Phone 7 has been locked down or system-jailed so that only authorized and approved apps can be installed through Marketplace as source, with an exception of developers’ phone.

The new restriction on Windows Phone 7 also marks a departure from Windows Mobile, which allows any apps to be installed either directly on the mobile device itself, or from PC to mobile device. Windows Phone 7 instead only accepts apps OTA (over the air) from the Marketplace.

Hackers have managed to take advantage of the convenient provided to developers of apps on Windows Phone platform by Microsoft, to bypass Windows Marketplace and directly sideload or install the third-party applications into Windows Phone 7.

The Windows Phone 7 jailbreak and unlock tool is called ChevronWP7. The ChevronWP7 tool basically allows users to load applications directly from PC or sideload into the Windows Phone 7 device, bypassing the WP7 Marketplace, effectively unlock and jailbreak the WP7 for installing any apps from third-party source, or unapproved, unauthorized, illegal, custom or homebrew apps through computer via USB sync cable.

In other word, the hack turns the WP7 phone into a developer’s phone, but user is not required to have a developer account. However, the XAP packages of Marketplace apps are protected, and thus cannot be side-loaded. If you afraid that the unlock or jailbreak hack voids the warranty, the ChevonWP7 hack is complete reversible, and the app can relock the phone.

The error is not due to Microsoft specifically targets Windows Windows Phone 7 devices unlocked via ChevronWP7. Instead, the phone is reverting back as a result of a periodic check by the phone on whether the phone supposedly to be unlocked. When Microsoft responds with a “no”, the phone initiates a lock down.

Download and install Zune software.
Download and install Windows Phone Developer Tools RTW: vm_web.exe.
Download ChevronWP7Cer.zip.
Unpack the ChevronWP7Cer.zip ZIP archive to retrieve chevronwp7.cer.
Email to an email account which accessible on the Windows Phone 7 with chevronwp7.cer as attachment.
Open the email on WP7 device.
Tap on the attachment once to download the attachment. Once downloaded, tap the attachment again to open the “Install Certificate” screen with white letters on black screen.
Click Install at the bottom of the screen to install the cert.
Run Registry Editor (RegEdit), and modify the following 32-bit DWORD registry key value (if it hasn’t exist): [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsPhone\ProxyPorts] "DeviceReg"=dword:000069C5
Connect the WP7 leave, and leave Zune running.
Run chevronwp7.exe, click both checkboxes, and then click Unlock.

The phone is now unlocked and jailbroken.

chevronwp7.com has withdrew the Windows 7 unlocker, thus it’s no longer supported.

I finally figured out how to root without looping. After rooting 13 phones, this is how I did it on the first try.

Turn USB Debugging OFF

Click Root

When it says: Waiting for Device, Turn USB Debugging ON

It'll now run RATC
When it says: Starting ADB Server...
Turn USB Debugging OFF
Turn USB Debugging ON
Turn USB Debugging OFF
All BEFORE it says "Waiting for device..." again

Thanks to all that donated! I was worried for a bit but you guys proved me wrong. So, I fixed the NMA (non market apps) button. It should now install sqlite3 and busybox into a temporary folder if you don't have it. I added an unroot (by popular demand). I did some major code clean up, so you can expect faster releases from here on out. Next version will add sqlite3 and busybox to the /system partition included in root.

If you're having issues with "wait for device" or if RATC is looping, try this
Unplug your USB Cable
Go to Settings > Applications > Development
Uncheck USB Debugging
Plug in your USB Cable
Unplug your USB Cable
Check USB Debugging
Plug in your USB Cable

I need people with issues to post their device model and if they tried rooting in recovery mode. All posts ignoring the read me will be ignored. (meaning nma complaints and those NAND locked devices).
I'm getting flooded with replies, PMs and emails. Seriously, try reading a few posts back.
The program has been downloaded over 5000 times and only 2 people have have donated. I see donations as signs of gratitude. Even if it's 25 cents, please donate.
When I find the time (and will) I will work on the v1.5 release.
The rageagainstthecage looping is by design. Bad usb cables and ports can cause ratc to not run properly so I have it loop until it works. The "waiting for device" hang is for the same reason. There's nothing wrong with my application. It's usually your usb cable or port. This is not a cop-out answer. This is not an excuse as if I didn't know why it happens. This has been investigated and the problem is USB connectivity. It happens with my Captivate as well.

Enabling market apps isn't working unless you have busybox installed. I plan to fix this in the next version. The problem is, different devices have different locations for the com.provider.android.settings/settings.db and I was using the 'find' command to find your settings.db location. I didn't realize this was a busybox command not internal. That will be fixed.

I also added some information about root that I think people should read and classified different root levels.

By classifying root levels, I make it easier for the users to know if certain options will work or not. For example, enabling non-market apps will only require a Level 1 root, meaning it will work with the HTC Aria

With the absolutely beautiful ADB exploit I use, titled rageagainstthecage (ratc), absolute ALL devices can be rooted. This is because it exploit is ADB which all devices use. There is an issue though. Some devices have a NAND lock which does not allow you to write to the /system mount. Because of this, you can't copy su, sqlite or busybox to /system/bin. This creates some issues but there is a work around. For things that don't need access to /system (like enabling non-market apps) I can use the ratc exploit to make those changes. If your device cannot use su in /system/bin then you can simple select a checkbox (as of v1.5) that says to use ratc.

There are 3 levels of "root" we can define:
Level 1: Shell Root (with ratc rooting the adb shell but no /system write access)
Level 2: Temporary Root (/system/bin/su installed but lost on reboot)
Level 3: Full Root (/system/bin/su installed and sticks)

Some devices have a NAND lock. SuperOneClick will only give a Shell root until you remove this lock. The following phones can use http://unrevoked.com to remove this lock:

Sprint EVO 4G (HTC Supersonic)
Droid Incredible (HTC Incredible)
HTC Desire GSM
HTC Desire CDMA (HTC BravoC)
HTC Aria
Droid Eris (HTC DesireC)
HTC Wildfire (HTC Buzz)

The HTC Legend and My Touch 3G 32A also have a NAND lock and need more specific methods to unlock.

The T-Mobile (HTC) G2 has something different which may or may not be a hardware flaw. I have yet to really research the device, but while it may root, it won't be permanent since copying /su to /system/bin/su has problems. I believe this is a Level 2 root, but to be honest, I need to research more.

All other devices has a Level 3 root via SuperOneClick
