The Bagel Review

Once in a while I buy the odd gadget, which is a lie...I buy too many.

Occasionally I get sent some products as well and this is the spot where I let you know my opinion as a basic and ‘non-techy’ user (unless it’s a camera of course)

Items are awarded Golden Bagels. 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5

I must also disclose that I send everything back, or I buy it with my own money, not your donations, all of which are given towards the upkeep of the shows. I have on occasion been given items at ‘trade price’ but this has been after I have submitted the review.

Despite the fact that this review is written two months after the launch of this item, I was adamant that I wasn’t going to just rave about this mouse because although I had enjoyed the Mighty Mouse predecessor, there had been problems that had developed in function, interaction and workflow over time.

The first time I saw this mouse, I wanted one. It is without doubt the most gorgeous of form factors on the market and something that is desirable to the eye and to the touch...but that wouldn’t have been enough to make it a good mouse.

What makes a product good is not your first impressions, its when you don’t have it and you find yourself attempting to perform the actions you had with it and that is the Magic Mouse for me.

I find myself attempting to do the ‘double finger’ swipe for forwards and backwards on the Mighty Mouse that runs the TV Mac Mini, I find myself attempting to do it again with my Macbook Pro’s Trackpad and when I don’t have the ‘inertia’ like sweep of the scrolling, it drives me MAD!

This mouse is a winner, a real winner but it is screaming for development and more interaction. Where’s the Pinch action, the Rotation movement and three and four finger gestures. And speaking as a man with large hands...can I ask that there’s a bigger version.

A Very Good Start, but there’s plenty more to do. If you do it Apple, its 5 Bagels but until then its 4. If you do nothing then this mouse will dwindle to 1 Golden Bagel and have missed what is without doubt a chance to grow on a very solid foundation.

4 Golden Bagels...for now

This is a great contender for that prize.

The Xenyx Series is a powerful and yet budget conscious and comes in many shapes and sizes from $40 up to $300 and delivers a lot of features for little outlay.

The 1202FX is so called as it has 12 channel inputs and 1 FX loop that you can apply to any of those channels. The retail price of this is around £120, but with a little haggling you can get one for under £100.

The controls are traditional and simple, yet manageable even if you have large hands. There’s 4 XLR inputs for your microphones and Phantom Power as well. the other inputs are all 1/4inch jack. There’s outputs for control rooms and phones which is more than you could expect from a small cheap mixer.

Would I buy it again...Yes but now I’ve had my appetite for Firewire tweaked, I think I’d pay the extra and upgrade.

A Very Solid 3 Golden Bagels.

I loved Assassins Creed first time around and I have to agree with many of the other reviewers that after a while it did get a little repetitive.

AC 2 is without doubt, a significant improvement on what was already a good platform. The opening scenes have your new hero Ezio in a family feud that escalates and sees the beginning of the whole story.

Echoes of the original AC keep coming back with both the missions and the collection of the Assassins Symbols to unlock levels, weapons and armour but the missions are better thought out and progress in difficulty very well. There are no shortages of Assassination, Courier and Beat-up missions to keep you occupied if you want to veer away from the main plot line and earn a little extra cash and watch for other couriers that appear at random around the cities...there’s plenty of extra cash to be had.

This really is a go anywhere and do anything game but with consequences. Money is earnt through missions and rebuilding the family country residence to its former glory and then pursuing the opposition as the truth is revealed.

A superb game and I love it more than the first, which is saying something.

Easily 5 Golden Bagels
