In a blog post on EA’s website, EA Labels President Frank Gibeau named the Need for Speed series as one of the next-gen titles that will make an appearance at E3.

“Our E3 briefing “The Download: EA 2013 Preview” will be a showcase of next-generation games like Battlefield 4, Need For Speed, a full range of EA SPORTS games and a first look at our plans for the Star Wars partnership with Disney.  Tune in on Monday, June 10 at 1pm PT on Spike TV or at www.ea.com/e3 to experience it all. I’m eager to your reaction in the comments and the forums, Facebook and Twitter.”

The last Need for Speed title was Need for Speed: Most Wanted; a 2012 remake of the EA Black Box title of the same name, but this time developed by Criterion. Prior to that, Criterion also did 2010′s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

On the Xbox One, games are installed from the game disc to the hard drive. Once completed, the disc is no longer needed, as the game can be loaded up and ran from the hard drive it has been installed to. This could lead to people installing the game and returning it/passing the disc off to a friend, but the next person that gets an already used game will be met with the option to pay a (hopefully small) fee before installing the game on their own system.

According to Wired: “Microsoft did say that if a disc was used with a second account, that owner would be given the option to pay a fee and install the game from the disc, which would then mean that the new account would also own the game and could play it without the disc.”

No further details regarding Microsoft’s plans for used games, or the secondhand fee, were discussed. When asked by Wired what would happen if a person wanted to play a game from the disc without installing or being charged, Microsoft, apparently, failed to provide an answer.

I wonder what people who rent games from Gamefly have to say about this. Come to think of it, what’s the solution when a person goes over to a friend’s house and both decide to play a multiplayer/co-op game that only one owns? Does someone have to pay the fee?

The Thief news comes from Stephane D’Astous, General Manager of Eidos-Montreal, who stated, “The team at Eidos-Montreal is thrilled to confirm that Thief is coming to Xbox One. The next generation of home consoles allow us to create the best and the most immersive Thief game ever.”

Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot also had the following to say when confirming an Xbox One release for both Watch_Dogs and ACIV:

“The next generation of consoles will reinvigorate our industry and make it possible for us to deliver incredible new entertainment to gamers. Our teams are using the innovations in connectivity, immersion and social gaming included in Xbox One to create original and memorable next-gen gaming experiences.”

This is similar to the PlayStation 4, which will also be unable to play the games from the PlayStation 3 library, including all downloadable titles. Unlike Sony, however, who may allow players to stream PlayStation 3 titles via the cloud in the future, Microsoft doesn’t seem to be looking for a way for Xbox One owners to play older titles.

Said Whitten, ”This isn’t about getting rid of the Xbox 360.” I imagine we’ll be seeing the next-gen version of HD Collections in the future. Well, that or cheaper Xbox 360s. Yay.

According to a story from Wired, the bigger hard drive and blu-ray drive were both designed in-house. Additionally:

“A single 40-nanometer chip contains both the CPU and GPU rather than the two dedicated 90-nm chips needed in the 360. In fact, a custom SOC (system on a chip) module made by AMD contains the CPU/GPU chip, the memory, the controller logic, the DRAM, and the audio processors, and connects directly to the heat sink via a phase-change interface material.”

Yesterday the company revealed a teaser trailer which showed their next generation console, the PlayStation 4, in numerous fuzzy shots adding yet further speculation to what their next home console will actually look like. However, over at the official Sony India website, further information was revealed about the console which has since been pulled from the product description page. The price of the console!

Thankfully with internet users being… internet users, someone was able to take a screen print of the page before it was taken down which listed a ‘base model’ which included a 250GB hard drive for… €399.
