I apologize in advance for how I’m about to tempt you.

This round of PW Wednesdays was my pick. For ages I’ve been wanting to make a breakfast pizza, so when I got my copy of Ree’s cookbook I immediately bookmarked this recipe. I think it was meant to be. I mean seriously, how can you go wrong with potatoes, cheese, bacon and eggs… all on a pizza! The only thing that would make this meal better is having a fruity margarita on the side, or maybe a mimosa since that’s more breakfasty. Next time I’ll be sure to do just that!

My only complaint about this recipe… that there wasn’t more of it! Only a few slices were leftover, The Mr had them for lunch the next day. I’m please to report that they stood up to reheating. Not all pizza is awesome reheated so that’s a big plus.

You can make this pizza as easy as you want; buy precooked bacon, frozen hash browns and pre made pizza dough. Or you can make everything from scratch. I promise from scratch really isn’t that hard, but it does take a bit more planning and time. Even though the recipe calls for frozen hash browns, I figured homemade couldn’t possibly be that hard to make. I was up for the challenge. It took a bit of time but the hardest part was just getting the disc unstuck from my food processor. I think The Mr was ready to break it to get the darn thing out. It was stuck good.

Do yourself a favor and make this. It’s completely customizable. I opted to not have salsa on my half due to my hatred of tomatoes. But promise to not skimp on the potatoes and bacon. Those are two very important features to this pizza.

My hopes were set high for this one and boy did it deliver! Seasoned hash browns and melty cheese topped off with chopped salty bacon and eggs all on top of your favorite thin crust pizza dough. It was heavenly. Let’s not forget the salsa and peppers. This pizza covers it all
Continue Reading PW Wednesdays ~ Breakfast Pizza

Two weeks down, thirteen to go! That sounds like a lot, but I’m truly excited to see what recipes will be sent my way to try. In case you missed week one and info about #JC100, check it out here: Julia Child’s rolled omelette.

Yet again I did some research for this recipe online. I found a video of Julia Child whipping up her chocolate mousse and watched it with my girls. They were glued. Not all cooking shows keep their (or even my own!) attention, but Julia really has a special way with things. Her personality and know-how in the kitchen are both entertaining and educational. If you haven’t had the opportunity to watch a full episode of hers, I highly recommend checking out your local PBS station to see what time her shows air. We have two that air on Saturdays. I wish they aired more frequently but I’ll try to be content with just the few
Continue Reading Chocolate Mousse – Julia Child

Who am I kidding… don’t eat them with a fork and a knife, you want to get messy and lick your fingers because otherwise you’re missing out on part of the fun. Maybe it’s not lady like. Maybe it’s not proper or pretty, but licking something tasty from your fingers is how it should be. It’s right. You don’t eat cheese puffs or Doritos and wipe your fingers clean… or eat messy ribs and wipe your hands, right? What about chocolate? I couldn’t possibly be the only one. If it’s a kid thing, then so be it.
It’s not a secret that I have a love affair with carbs. I can devour bread without even thinking about it. Whip up a tasty batch of fresh rolls for dinner and they’re lucky to make it till then unless I leave the house, chain myself to a wall or maybe a more reasonable solution… make them right before dinner. If there is bread on the counter, I’ll eat it. I have zero restraint.

It’s like cheese. It’s too good to not be enjoyed. This is also probably why I love mixing cheese and bread together.
