				<title> The Power of Strategy Execution in Healthcare</title>
				<link>http://www.executivestrategymanager.com/blog/index.cfm/2009/7/9/Liz Fobare</link>
				<description>

				In July-August Balanced Scorecard Report, the article &quot;The Power of Strategy Execution in Healthcare&quot; tackles the issue of managing the gap between healthcare needs and financial resources. &quot;Can healthcare systems reduce spiraling costs while still maintaining the quality of care?&quot; According to this article the answer is definitively &quot;Yes!&quot; Through a disciplined planning and strategy execution system, healthcare organizations can reconcile the tension between the pressure to reduce costs and the demand for higher-quality health care. Organizations that have a comprehensive strategy process and clearly defined day to day operations can reduce risk, improve financial performance, lower liability costs, and improve clinical care. The ESM aids our healthcare clients in executing on their strategy by taking them step by step through both the construction of, and reporting on, Balanced Scorecards and strategy maps. [More]

				<title> Could the ESM impact the Kingdom&apos;s access to electricity and water?</title>
				<link>http://www.executivestrategymanager.com/blog/index.cfm/2009/6/18/Kent Smack</link>
				<description>

				I came across our most recent BSC Hall of Fame recipient and ESM user, Bahrain Electricity and Water Authority&apos;s public web site landing page where their strategy execution success is proudly highlighted. Sitting on the right column are real time statistics on electricity and water availability and consumption. It&apos;s great to think of the ESM positively impacting an organization as vital as this one. [More]

				<title> How to Manage Risk in the ESM</title>
				<link>http://www.executivestrategymanager.com/blog/index.cfm/2009/6/15/Philip O&apos;Donnell</link>
				<description>

				Accounting for risk has become a hot topic in strategy management over the last year as organizations struggle through annual strategy refreshes in these turbulent times. This has raised the topic of how to address these risks within the balanced scorecard methodology, and ultimately, how to include the management of risk in your ESM implementation. [More]

				<title> Microsoft Word Continues to Make Integration a Headache across the Software Industry</title>
				<link>http://www.executivestrategymanager.com/blog/index.cfm/2009/6/9/Chris Funk</link>
				<description>

				Industry giant Microsoft&apos;s Word application has created headaches for software developers seeking integration since its creation. The code used to write the immensely popular Word has a very complex base, and since other applications need to communicate with this code it comes with many complications. The ESM struggles to interact with Word as users who paste from Word to the ESM end up with text corrupted from the attached Word code. To combat this, the ESM has two text editors which translate and clean this code, called SoEditor and FckEditor. [More]

In ESM 4.5, a user was granted scorecard access with one of six pre-defined roles. The latest version of the ESM allows greater flexibility in assigning access levels to users. [More]

				<title> ESM 5.0 New Features: Strategic Communication</title>

				One of ESM&apos;s new features is its enhanced capability around strategic communication. Like action items, we allow for the multi-select of users for strategic element ownership, including email reminders. We debated the methodology implications of potentially not having just one owner for each strategic element and the practicality of allowing multiple owners outweighed the risks. [More]
