Bali is Bali Kuna before Bali conquered by Majapahit (in 1343 AD). The term of Bali Kuna was initially by Dr. R. Goris, in 1948. He is a Dutch anthropologist who lived in Singaraja. The term is used to restrict the study area between pre-and post-Majapahit occupation that brought great influence in the fields of social life, culture, politics and economy. There is no explanation about the use of the word ‘Kuna’ (Kuno is Indonesian Language for Old) in this limit.

Bali Kuna later changed to the Bali Aga designation for the Bali Kuna inhabitants who fled to the mountains (Aga = mountain) as driven by large-scale migration of Majapahit in East Java around the 14th century, at which time the religion of Islam began to develop in Java. Sources of literature that confirms this have on the Kidung of Harsha Wijaya, Kidung Ranggalawe, Kidung of Sunda, Java USANA, USANA Bali, Babad Dalem, and Dwijendra Tattwa. Kidung is religious songs.

Scientific research about Bali Kuna held in 1885 by Dr. van der Tuuk and Dr. Brandes based on inscriptions found in Blantih, Sangsit, and Klandis. Then inscriptions which are found on Julah in 1890 makes Brandes research easier. Attention Government of the Netherlands East Indies in the history of Bali Kuna deepening, so that in 1926 was published a collection of documents called Epigraphia Balica compiled by Dr. Van Stein Callenfels research.

The documents were then continued to be refined with photos statues, and temples, ancient temples as well as additional findings from Dr. Stutterheim. On year 1930 was published a book entitled Oudheden van Bali which uncover the mystery veil of Bali Kuna. The authors suspect the word ‘Kuna’ by Goris, perhaps influenced by the word ‘Oudheden’ from the book.

I Nyoman Singgin Wikarman, in his book ‘Leluhur Orang Bali’ (Ancestors of the Balinese) use the term ‘Bali Mula instead of Bali Kuna. He dug deeper on the basis of the findings of Drs. Soekmono (1973), the findings of Dr. R.P. Soejono (1961), and the writing I Made Sutaba, each reveals the existence of the people of Bali since the Stone Age, time of Undagi (technique to develop field rice), until the time of agrarian life.

They include human Austronesian family, which is not religious yet. In the 8th century AD, a yogi from South India called the Maha Rsi Markandeya came spreading Vaishnava Hindu sect. Prior to Bali he had set up ‘pasraman’ in Mount Dieng and Mt Raung. His arrival in Bali, the first visit Besakih, then settled in Taro (Tegallalang).

Photography Exhibition “Blanco Licor de la diosa Mayahuel” (The White Liquor of Goddess Mayayuel ) from Mexico present in Bali.

‘White Liquor’ talked about ‘pulque’ (read: Pul to), a beverage obtained from the heart of a type of cactus plant in Mexico. Pulque or so-called octli is thick beverage with low alcohol content, color of milk. This drink made from fermented sap of maguey plants. The production is similar to the beverage from Indonesia, the legend, which originated from Lontar Siwalan or fruit. Maguey, Agave americana cactus species, also known as the Century plant (Century Plant) can be found almost in every corner of Mexico with its geography is varied and sometimes uneven ground contours. This plant is widely used in medicine and industry.

Pulque is a native drink of Mexico, long time ago is a sacred beverage Meso American society and its use is limited to a particular social class. After the Spanish conquest of Mexico, it became secular and the level of consumption increases. The popularity of these beverages reaches its peak in the 19th century. In the 20th century, his popularity declined, mainly because of competition from beer, which became more popular since the arrival of European immigrants.

Currently, several attempts were made to restore the popularity of this drink through tourism. Hopefully these efforts succeed, because the plaque was once a sacred drink and (if consumed in sufficient quantities) is rich in nutrients and benefits. These drinks contain carbohydrates, vitamins C, B complex, D, E, minerals, amino acids such as iron and phosphorus. Unexpectedly, the level of consumption of these drinks increased among athletes and bodybuilders.

Beautiful pictures to be displayed belongs Archivo Casasola, the most important photo archive in Mexico, the source of incredible pictures which show the daily life of Mexico’s population. These photos were taken in Mexico at the end of the 19th century and early 20th century, the golden portrait pulque consumption, and workers in agave plantations.

Want to buy cheap tickets? Purchase promo tickets in advance. But that is an old day suggestion, now there must be added a new suggestion. That is purchased via the Internet. Last year my friends was made a little annoyed because of buying airline overseas tickets via travel agents, at the night he tries to check on the internet was cheaper. Garuda Indonesia is now also imposing the same, cheap tickets sold online via the internet, and this has naturally many times.

From the cost structure, an online ticket was supposed to be cheaper because the airlines no longer pay sales commissions to agents, no longer need a lot of officers to serve a purchase, reducing the ticket printing costs, and reducing other costs. But it turns out tickets online can be even cheaper and is influenced by the strategy of each airline.

Promo only via Internet. Garuda Indonesia for example, sells more tickets promotion through the Internet than through a ticket agent or sales counter. At certain moments Garuda ticket prices differ greatly between via the internet and regular sales. In fact, Air Asia has a strategy to encourage customers to buy tickets from the internet and hence reduced costs of sales. Foreign airlines also have much to do this strategy. My experience to get a ticket promo H class Garuda Indonesia via the Internet, while at the same time the lowest ticket sold at sales counters or travel agents are a class B which is more expensive.

More payment options. First payment internet ticket can only be done by credit card. Foreign airlines have even added PayPal as a means of pay.

Transaction Security. Several years ago the majority of people are still reluctant to buy tickets via the internet for security reasons. Now all airline websites have been equipped with layered security standards to reduce the risk of fraud and Internet crime. I had long been accustomed to buy tickets via the internet and so far safe.

Faster transactions. Compared to buying tickets manually, buy tickets via the internet will be faster. This is because the data you have previously saved through the registration user id. This speed is so important especially if you’re hunting such promo tickets on Air Asia. Speed was also obtained due to flight schedules and the flexibility to determine the final price that is displayed.

Besides the practicality of the transaction and the possibility of getting cheaper tickets were not all purchase transactions, it can be done entirely over the Internet. In almost all airlines, transactions such as ticket cancellation, change of flight schedules, refund cannot be completely done from the internet and still need to contact the call center or sales counter.

British music group, formed earlier in 1975, along with Judas Priest known as a source of heavy metal world. Now, after 35 years, they can enjoy their concert in Bali. What makes Tommy Pratt from the original production insist bring Iron Maiden to Bali?

For him, bringing world-class musical groups is part of his hobby. Inevitably, a number of large groups were so coveted. From classic rock icons Deep Purple, Toto, Scorpions, Extreme, Bon Jovi or American metal, Megadeth has successfully brings to Indonesia.

For him, it is a pride can present them. In fact, to established contact with the tour manager of the board of the world music group that was not easy. In addition to diligently contact them by never give up, have a good reputation in organizing events, also takes patience and luck factor.

As an illustration, to bring Iron Maiden to Bali and Jakarta this time, Tommy who was very experienced brings top musicians of this world had to wait five years to perform in Indonesia. This is because they have to adjust the tour schedule which is designed professionally.

In addition to launching the album on a regular basis, manager Steve Harris and his colleagues also arrange tour schedule neatly held several years before the show. For example for The Final Frontier 2011 World Tour this time, it was already set up five years ago.

This is because other countries who wish to be included in the list are also lining up their world tour. So, cannot arbitrarily insert with tour dates without considering many aspects.

For example, Indonesia is a potential entry point due to tour schedule in Australia. In addition, since Indonesia is also known to have high enthusiasm scene or community of rock music and its heavy metal. Evidently, from a number of groups that successfully held a concert such as Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Metalica, Sepultura, Megadeth. It became a kind of good “report “, to be considered. “I promised five years ago for this concert. Just imagine, five years ago he promised, So it takes perseverance, patience to hold these events,” he said.

A moment later, he also showed his notebook. In his notebook, he showed all the preparations for Iron Maiden concert in Indonesia I.e. Jakarta and Bali. Of special chartered plane bearing the Iron Maiden, with a distinctive typeface, which was ready to carry all purposes. It’s like they used to tour the world before, as can be enjoyed on DVD discs, a very famous Flight 666.

Why Tommy so insistent once brought the band from Leyton, East London, Great Britain had to wait five years? Apparently the answer is simple. “Since I was a big fan of them” he said, while citing a number mainstay of the music group

Nyepi Day procession always preceded by Pengerupukan, which is exactly one day before Nyepi. Pengerupukan always waited by the public especially by young children because in the pengerupukan night ogoh-ogoh will be paraded around the village and around the city accompanied by gambelan beleganjur, kentogan and the young couple who go parading with a torch.

Ogoh-ogoh itself is a ‘giant puppet’ which made in large-sized creepy, in the form of animals, giant, blind which is simbolyze when a negative thing in human beings or even the wild universe.

Ogoh-ogoh been around since the 80s, who initiated the so-called is the former Governor of Bali, Ida Bagus Mantra which is also a Balinese cultural figure who always has a breakthrough and accommodate innovative ideas and creativity of young people and artists associated with Hindu religious ritual.

Ogoh -ogoh denoted as bad nature in man, hatred, greed, drunkenness, envy, greed, greedy that crystallized during a year when the last step of procession after being paraded is ogoh-ogoh will be burned or destroyed as a symbol of purification of bad qualities of man. And in the newly reborn expected us clean and always do the Dharma according to religious teachings.

Ogoh-ogoh relic made of simple wood and bamboo frame; frame is formed and then wrapped in paper. Currently ogoh-ogoh makers increasingly innovating to make the ogoh-ogoh framework by assembled iron, woven bamboo which wrap ogoh-ogoh body was replaced with a cork or stereo foam with modern painting techniques that ultimately cost swelling in the making, but generally do not become matter because it is usually obtained from public donations and business people. Theme ogoh-ogoh was more varied, from theme puppet shows, modern, up to the political porn that does not reflect the meaning of religion. Theme of ogoh-ogoh is expected to be in accordance with Hindu religious values which are God, Man and Bhuta Kala as a counterweight ties all three. Ogoh-ogoh symbol is in accordance with the literature and must be stipulated in the grip of religion and not like a few are made today, because many of us look funny when made in human form, Rocker, punk, human / giant sexy and Nudity. But from another viewpoint said ogoh-ogoh was the creativity of young people who exploit the form of natural phenomena and social phenomena that occur in society at this time so no need for restrictions or restraints of expression

The plane will land at Ngurah Ray Bali at 23:50 PM? Is there is still an open inn? Then how to get there? Is it safe?

Perhaps these questions are often asked by friends who come to Bali. But I have some tips that can help your friends when you have landed in Bali in late at night.

Along with the rise of tourism sector in Bali, more tourists come to Bali especially the domestic tourists. This is also supported by the rise of a local flight that opens channels from Jakarta to Bali or from other cities in Indonesia. From the number of flights, some airlines offer cheaper rates for night flights (last flight). The aircraft take off from Jakarta at around 20:30 and landed in Bali at 23.00 (long flight 1.5 hours, plus one hour because of time Bali 1 hour faster / +8 GMT).

The problem is when you arrive in Bali in at 23.00, there will arise a question how I could get a lodging? And what transportation to take from airport to lodging, how much the taxi fare is it safe? And much more.

I have some tips for the circumstances as above.

Time in Bali is UTC +8, so it will be wise if you set you clock at that time.

When you arrive at the Domestic Arrival of Ngurah Rai Airport, you can use the official airport taxi cab by buying tickets at the official counter which is open until the last plane on the right night at the arrival exit gate. We just pay the taxi ticket in the counter and not to the taxi driver. But you can give tips to a taxi driver later. When you arrive at the International Arrivals Terminal no taxi counter in there, you can wait for taxis at the arrival gate. If there are no taxis, there is usually a non-official taxi, but try to bargain the taxi fare according to your destination. But usually this non-official taxi did not pay much higher fare. At the Counter of the Official Taxi rates in accordance with travel far, for the purpose of Kuta, Legian IDR 45.000, Jimbaran IDR 60.000, Nusa Dua IDR 50.000, Denpasar IDR 65.000. Kuta is a tourist spot closest to the airport with a distance of only 15 minutes. My advice is if this is your first arrival to Bali you should go to Kuta and seek lodging in Kuta.

Cheap lodging, clean, and safe is numerous in Jalan Legian Kuta Poppies Lane II. From the airport you will pass through Jalan Kartika Plaza, turn left at the side of Jalan Pantai Kuta Kuta Beach and lined Luxury Hotels, Hard Rock Cafe, Pizza Hut, McDonald and turn right into Jalan Poppies Lane II headed to Jalan Legian. To the right of Poppies Lane II a lot of inexpensive but clean accommodations. You can stop at one of the inn and asked if there was an empty room. It should be noted Jalan Poppies is only one path and one-way and taxis cannot stop for long time.

You can directly pay cash money to the receptionist room and write down the name in the form based on ID given.

You can breathe easily because “at least” you do not sleep on the porch tonight. Tomorrow morning you can stroll around the Poppies for a better accommodation or you can go to other places in Bali according to plan your vacation.

Other Facilities at Kuta

According to my most favorite place for “first port” in Bali is Kuta. In addition to this area there are famous Kuta Beach’s (200 m from Poppies Lane II), also has complete facilities: Accommodation is cheap & clean, Restaurant food western & local affordable, ATM, Internet, Mini Market Circle K 24 hours, clothing shop & relatively cheap souvenirs (with bargaining), and many foreigner hanging around.

Security

Security issues, Bali is relatively safe compared to other places in Indonesia, is rare hold-up, or theft. The majority of Balinese are devout followers of Hinduism are afraid of bad karma. Usually if there is crime perpetrators are immigrants. So do not be afraid to come to Bali.

There are Bali Bombing, is it safe?

As previously known, there have been 2 times of Bali bombing, in the Year 2002 and 2005. This event has a very large impact on tourist arrivals in Bali. But Bali is now starting to rise again. About this bomb issue, I cannot guarantee because it could happen where I depend on your fate. So keep praying so we can avoid this.

The most popular story in the Kecak dance is the story of Ramayana on the part where King Rama and his wife Dewi Sitta, together with his brother Laksmana was in the woods since exiled from their kingdom. There was a friend of mine that cannot really understand the story of Kecak dance so I write a short story about Kecak dance.

Rama, Dewi Sitta and Laksmana are in the forest, suddenly a golden deer appears (the incarnation of king Ravana’s aide which is assigned to make Rama away from Sitta, leaving Dewi Sitta alone) , the golden dears approached them and then move away as if invite them to play. Seeing the cute deer, Sitta asked Rama get the golden deer. Before leaving Sita, Rama asked his brother Laksmana to guard Sitta. And then Rama leaves Sitta and Laksmana to pursue the golden deer that ran away.

Not long afterwards there are screaming that sounds like Rama and asked for help. Hearing that voice, Sitta was worried and then asked Laksmana to follow Rama, the Laksmana did not believe if that voice is the voice of Rama because he knew Rama could not be harmed by the scores of deer. But Sita would not understand him even angry at the Laksmana and accused Laksmana to intentionally allowed Rama to die so he could marry Sitta later. Due to constantly urged by Sitta, Laksmana finally go after Rama. But, before leaving Sita alone, Laksmana create a circle and asked Sitta to stay within the circle.

After the Laksmana left, there are a priest appeared who is actually a manifestation Ravana. The priest was asking for water to Sitta. Feeling sorry, Sitta provide water to the priest with his hand stretched out of the circle. Immediately the old priest turned into Ravana. Then take Sita away.

Narrated that Sita has been in the kingdom of Lanka and was accompanied by Trijata – nephew of Ravana assigned to guard Sitta. Sitta looked sad and cry over the condition while keep hoping Rama came to the rescue. Then, there are came the White Apes – Hanuman. At first, Sitta thought Hanuman is also an incarnation of Ravana, but after the Hanuman explained that he was the emissary of King Rama, and handed the ring as proof. Then Sita gives interest to Hanuman for submission to King Rama. Before leaving the kingdom of Lanka, Hanuman set fire to the park and few places in the kingdom of Lanka as a message to Ravana that Rama would come to rescue Sita.

Then Rama and his army ordered the monkey king Sugriwa to fight Megananda, in this scene the Kecak dancers will form 2 groups, one group being a soldier Megananda, one other group in the army Sugriwa. In this battle Sugriwa defeat Megananda. Then the dancers smack back into one group.

Told that Ravana can be defeated and Rama has been reunited with his wife Sitta. Their meeting was attended by Laksmana, Sugriwa and Hanuman.

At end, all Kecak dancers will gather on stage and invite visitors to make memories with pictures taken together.
