Bali Airport on delays issues

According to Bali Indonesia report stated that most of the customs officials have pulled the plug on biometric checks of foreign nationals arriving at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. Thus a continuation from the long overdue queues that considered as the start of losing revenues.

Suspended on May 2 on the orders of Justice and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar is the Border Control Management system. “We don’t know if it will be revived later,” Ngurah Rai Immigration Office administrative head Wilopo said on Tuesday.

Wilopo added the this new process and system that has been introduced last April 22 only takes 30 seconds longer however he added that one the tourists comes on a daily basis of up to 5,000, the accrued delays had forced many to wait in line for hours.

The end of the twice-daily flights from Japan is likely to cost the airport management Rp 150 million ($16,500) a day.

From the recent news in Bali islands stated about the new documentary “Cowboys in Paradise,” which examines the phenomenon of “Kuta Cowboys”. Boys who are known working Bali’s beaches and bars and according to Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika announced that they will investigate this transactions among the gigolo’s and it’s potential victim or client in which they are planning to document and create a film regarding this. However the Governor will inspect on whether the director had the necessary permits to film on the island.

From the interview of the former Bali Police chief said their disappointment at the documentary, which he claimed only focused on the negative side of the Island of the Gods. “I thank Kuta’s residents who helped conduct raids against those they suspect of being gigolos,” Made Mangku said, referring to the questioning of 28 well-built men on the beach on Monday. “The main thing is, do not use violence.”

Bali Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Gde Sugianyar Dwi Putra said that the investigation has been started. This documentary is actually ompleted last year after two years in production, premiered at the DMZ Documentary Film Festival in South Korea. As the investigation is on process they are still collecting information as they only saw few clips on Youtube.

Amit Virmani, the documentary’s director, said he has received hate mail and threats. From the interview with the Jakarta Globe he said that he was shocked at the response and he wish that the film was not used as a reason to discriminate against the Bali beach boys.

A coordinator for ASITA for Bali, East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara – Bagus Sudibya has recently released tha there are lots of websites promoting their travel agencies on the Internet however they are not qualified and licensed from the government law.

The provincial tourism office for Bali is the responsible for this according to Sudibya. The Galungan Festivals in Bali

For the tourist in Bali, the much awaited festivals will going to take place this coming May. The March 2010 visit by the U.S. President Barack Obama to Bali is the fastest spreading news today. On the other hand the official confirmation has not yet announced however there is quite positive outlook and a lot of strong indications that U.S. President Barack Obama may include the island of Bali on his coming 2-day visit to Indonesia, tentatively scheduled for March 20-22, 2010. According to the Indonesia Foreign Affairs spokesman, Teuku Faizasyah, that this visits from the U.S. president is wishing to be happened sooner than expected. The Indonesian Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Patrialis Akbar announced last week that March 20-22 dates would be used by Obama to visit Jakarta and Central Java. With no clear confirmation this has been reported that might be true, as they already released the itinerary of the President: he plans to visit the Solo (Surakarta) and the nearby Borobudur Temple have been ditched, reportedly in favor of a visit to Bali.

With no yet verification from Jakarta or Washington, the security is still on the go. According to the Commander of Kodam (Pangdam) IX Military District Major General Hotmangaradja Pandjaitan, that they will be allocating almost 9,000 man security contingent on the island for the safety of the Prsident’s visit.

In the meantime, the White House Web Site showed the statement by the Presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs indicating that the President is endeavouring to confirm significant legislation awaiting before the Congress in order to be capable to leave the U.S capital on March 18th.

Strict rules on Bali travel agencies declared

The Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel (Asita)'s Bali branch has strongly urged Bali administration to set a new rules which is more strict that it used to be. They declared these new rules in order to refrain from building those unlicensed travel agencies on the island. According to Aloysius Purwa, Asita's chairperson stated that these illegal operations on travel agencies have ruined the name of the Bali Island to most of the tourists and even locals.

Purwa added these illegal operations have been caused an interruption when it comes to their tourism industry. Unfortunately most of these agencies are operating through online which are quite hard to locate. These illegal agencies are reported to have no license and not registered with a no proper program to run a travel agency.

Based on data from the Bali Tourism Office, there are 635 registered travel agencies operating on the island. "However, there are many more agencies operating without required licenses," Purwa pointed out.

From Puwa statement that the local administration needed to take some actions against the growing rate of illegal travel agencies in Bali Indonesia, indeed she added that anyone can start their travel agency business as long as they have the proper documents, licensed and permits.

Bali villas must be 100 meter setback from the beach

Rules and regulations on Indonesia stated the all Bali villa and hotels developers needed to keep their distance from the beach, they have given at least 100 meter awaits distance from the water.

However reports said that many investors building villas and hotels in the Balinese regency of Gianyar are paying no attention to the existing zoning policy that require a 100 meter setback from the high water mark or local river banks.

From the recent checks and inspection of the head of Gianyar's Planning Department, IB Nyoman Rai in the beach area like Keramas Beach as it shows that they abide the system agreement. With the local chief of public works, the regency's law chief, economic officer, the sub district head of Blahbatuh and a village leader from Keramas have been disappointed on what they have seen.

With a quite numbers of Bali villa and hotels that in violation with the regulations of 100 meter setback from the water has been reported.

This as the officials stated must assess as according to the team of officials setback rules are irreversible and must be obeyed.
