Micheal Jackson dies at age 50

The king of pop music is no more. Micheal Jackson passed away at his Bel-Air home on June 25th 2009 due to cardiac arrest. Los Angeles(California) Fire Department paramedics responded to a 911 call from Micheal Jackson’s home and when they arrived , Jackson was found with a full cardiac arrest.

Jackson has three children – son Prince Michael 7, and son Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., 12, and daughter Paris Michael Katherine, 11.

Micheal Jackson was renting the Bel-Air home while rehearsing for a series of 50 sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena beginning next month and continuing into 2010. The concerts were financed by a pair of billionaires and those close to jackson belived it will be a way to revive his carrier as a singer.

His 1982 album “Thriller” — which included the blockbuster hits “Beat It,” “Billie Jean” and “Thriller” — remains the biggest-selling album of all time, with more than 26 million copies.

It is an amateurish attempt by director Nagendra Prasad with silly sequences, senseless narration and a meaningless script. Nobody knows where the story starts and ends. The movie appears more like a documentary on Nepal with the cinematographer Dasari Seenu doing some sensible work. The story takes us back to the 1960s and ’70s with meaningless flashbacks that ultimately end in confusion. By the time you realize what the story is about, the movie is over.

Raja (Ram), a folk singer, goes to Nepal along with his troupe for a programme. He falls in love with Charmi (Gracy Singh) who is already engaged to a boy (Chethan) from the US. But Raja wins her heart, becomes intimate with her and ends up rejecting her saying he pretended to fall in love with her to take revenge, for he holds her responsible for the death of his parents and sister in India. Amid this confusion, Sudeep makes an entry, dances and leaves. The rest of the film makes for painful viewing.

Ram fails to impress. Gracy Singh does not fit the bill. Shobhraj is atrocious. Music by Harikrishna is okay. The less said the better about the rest. Source: timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Shivaraj Kumar’s “Nanda” is the latest addition to the long list of illogical and abhorrent gangster films being made in Kannada in recent times.

The success of a few films like ‘Om’, ‘Jogi’, ‘Daasa’, ‘Duniya’ and ‘Gooli has influenced a large number of young producers and directors to make gangster films. But a majority of them are badly written and directed.

“Nanda” is actually Anantha Raju’s debut film, though his second directorial venture ‘Masth Majaa Maadi’ has already released to a decent public response. But “Masth Majaa Maadi” is a remake of Hindi hit ‘Dhamaal’, which didn’t need any of Raju’s creative inputs.

Raju shows his lack of imagination while writing the script of ‘Nanda’. There is nothing fresh in the story and many of the sequences seem to be a crude take-off from similar non-Kannada films.

The movie lacks a reasonable pace, leaving audiences uninterested in parts. Raju has also failed to effectively use talented veteran artistes. Many of them have been wasted in ‘Nanda’. Though Raju is the director, it is the fight composer whose work is seen more on screen.

The movie is about the protagonist Nanda, a self-employed youngster. He gets a canteen lease in a college and is much liked by students and teachers alike. He is always referred to as ’senior’ by college students who seek his advise on academic and non-academic matters.

And then comes the romantic angle when Kavya, a college student, falls for Nanda’s charms.

Meanwhile, Nanda helps his friend marry Kavya’s elder sister, which leads him to a confrontation with the city’s police commissioner. Despite opposition from Kavya’s parents, Nanda wants to marry her.

The police commissioner plans to kill Nanda and even puts him behind bars on false charges. Finally, an enraged Nanda treads the violent path to kill all the villains.

Shivaraj Kumar has very little to perform in emotional sequences, but he looks extremely fit and dynamic in the song and fight sequences. But for Sandhya, who has proved her talent in many Tamil films, ‘Nanda’ proves to be a disastrous entry into Kannada movies.

Ramesh Babu’s photographic work is good, but V. Manohar has composed ordinary tunes for the film.

’Nanda’ is strictly for action lovers who are willing to endure a torturous narration to see a few good fight sequences. Source: movies.indiatimes.com

That’s not only what newcomer Ragini Dwivedi wants. She aspires to act with all Sandalwood stalwarts, age no bar

It’s happy times for Ragini Dwivedi. The girl just can’t stop smiling, for not only has she won the Miss India South runner-up title, but is also all set to hot up the screens in Veera Madakari (VM), which is slated for release this month.

The Bangalore girl is paired opposite Sudeep in the movie. ”I couldn’t have asked for a better debut,” says the 18-year-old, who etches a glamourous role. “I was offered Hindi movies before, but refused them as the scripts didn’t impress me. Anyway, acting in films was not something that I had thought of. I always wanted to be a supermodel. But when VM came my way, I couldn’t resist the offer,” the girl from Punjab says.

Ragini can’t stop going gaga over the VM experience. “Not even the language became a problem for me, as the team was very helpful. I also took time to understand the medium, but Sudeep was very patient. He is often misunderstood, because he does not talk much. But he is a very committed person. I learnt a lot from him and the team.”

She also loved Badami, where they shot for quite sometime. “It is such a beautiful place. But what is sad is more than us Indians, it is the foreigners who go visiting the place!”

While VM is an experience she will cherish, she has moved on to doing another project, By2Coffee. “It is a triangular love story. Apart from this, I have got offers from Telugu and Tamil industry as well. “

While she is getting opportunities, what Ragini really wants to do is an action film. “Even during VM, I used to watch Thriller Manju sir direct Sudeep. I have even asked Manju to teach me action scenes, whenever I do it. And I want Upendra to direct the movie for me. I have interacted with him and even acted in a song with him. He is really good. Her other favourites are Darshan and Puneeth. “Puneeth is a real good dancer and since I enjoy dancing too, I think we’ll do a good job.” Shivarajkumar is another person with whom she wants to act. “We actually may be seen in a movie together soon.”

Given the list of her favourites, she then has no problems acting with artistes way senior to her in age. “Age is not a criterion at all. What matters is the chemistry. As long as we look good together on screen nothing else matters.” Source: deccanherald.com
