Sidoarjo mud flow or Lapindo mud or mud in Sidoarjo (Louise), is the hot mudflow incident in the location of PT Lapindo Brantas drilling in Renokenongo Village, Porong district, Sidoarjo regency, East Java, since May 27, 2006. Blast of hot mud for several months caused the sinking of settlements, agriculture, and industry in the three districts in the vicinity, and to influence economic activity in East Java.

Location of this mudflow in Porong, namely in the southern district of Sidoarjo regency, about 12 km south of the town of Sidoarjo. Sub District borders the Gempol (Pasuruan) in the south.

Burst location only 150-500 meters away from wells Banjar Panji-1 (BJP-1), which is owned gas exploration wells as operator Lapindo Brantas Brantas block. Therefore, until now, a blast of hot mud is alleged to result from drilling activities of Lapindo Brantas conducted at the wells. Lapindo Brantas own party have two theories about the origin of bursts. First, the mud flow procedures associated with errors in drilling activity. Both, the Lapindo coincidence coincided with the drilling due to the unknown. However, more material that it is biased due to drilling.

Location is a residential area and the surrounding area is one of the major industries in East Java. Not far from the location of the highway there are bursts of Surabaya-Gempol, highways Surabaya-Malang-Pasuruan and Surabaya-Banyuwangi (East pantura line), and cross the railway line east of Surabaya-Malang and Surabaya-Banyuwangi, Indonesia.

Based on several expert opinions out of the mud due to a fault, a lot of places around East Java to Madura as Mount Anyar in Madura, “mountain” also exists in the mud of Central Java (Bleduk Kuwu). This phenomenon has happened dozens, even hundreds of years ago. The amount of mud in Sidoarjo is out of the bowels of the earth about 100,000 cubic meters per day, which is not possible out of the hole the “boring” as wide as 30 cm. And due to the early opinions of WALHI and the Environment Minister who said in Sidoarjo mud is dangerous, causing levees built on public land, which for large volume making it impossible to accommodate the flood of mud and eventually make the affected land became increasingly widespread.

This mudflow brought great impact to the surrounding community as well as for economic activities in East Java. Until May 2009, PT Lapindo, through PT Lapindo Jaya Minarak have to spend money either to replace the public lands and make the dike is Rp. 6 Trillion.

Mud twelve inundate villages in three districts. Originally only four villages inundated with a height of about 6 meters, which makes dievakuasinya local residents to be evacuated, and damage to agricultural areas. Mudflow was also flooded the educational facilities and headquarters Koramil Porong. Until August 2006, this mudflow has inundated several villages / subdistricts in District Porong, Jabon, and Tanggulangin, with a total of residents who were evacuated by more than 8200 people and displaced 25,000 people. Because no less submerged 10,426 houses and 77 units of mud houses of worship submerged in mud.

Land and livestock are affected by mud recorded until August 2006, among others: the land area of 25.61 ha of sugarcane in Renokenongo, Jatirejo and Kedungcangkring; land area of 172.39 ha of paddy in Siring, Renokenongo, Jatirejo, Kedungbendo, Sentul, Besuki Jabon and Pejarakan Jabon; and 1605 birds, 30 goats, 2 cows and 7 tail deer.

About 30 factories were forced to stop activities of stagnant production and laying off thousands of workers. 1873 noted that workers affected by this mud.

Four government offices are also not functioning and the employees also threatened not to work.

Not functioning of educational facilities (elementary, junior high school), Headquarters Koramil Porong, and damage to infrastructure facilities and infrastructure (electricity and telephone networks)

House / dwelling damaged by mud buffeted and damaged as many as 1683 units. Details: The home of 1810 (142 Siring, Jatirejo 480, Renokenongo 428, Kedungbendo 590, Besuki 170), 18 schools (7 schools), 2 offices (the Office of District Koramil and Jatirejo), 15 factories, mosques, and 15 units musala.

Damage to the environment on tergenangi areas, including areas of paddy fields

The Lapindo through Imam P. Agustino, Gene-ral Manager of PT Lapindo Brantas, claimed to have set aside U.S. $ 70 million (approximately USD 665 billion) to fund emergency response to the mud.

Due to amblesnya surface soil around the mud flow, water pipes broken PDAM Surabaya’s.

Explosion of a gas pipeline owned by Pertamina due to soil degradation due to the mud pressure and about 2.5 kilometers of gas pipeline submerged.

He closed the toll roads Surabaya-Gempol until an unspecified time period, and the resulting congestion on alternative routes, namely through Sidoarjo-Mojosari-Porong and Waru-lane toll-Porong.

No less than 600 hectares of land submerged.

A SUTET owned PT PLN and the telephone and electricity networks in four villages and a highway bridge in Porong not functional.

Closure of toll roads is also causing disruption of transportation routes Surabaya-Malang and Surabaya-Banyuwangi and other towns in the eastern part of Java island. This resulted in the production activities in the region Ngoro (Mojokerto) and that during this Pasuruan is one of the main industrial area in East Java.

Central Java is located exactly in the middle of Java Island. It borders with West Java Province in the western part, while in the eastern part borders with East Java Province. On the part of the southern side lies also the province of Yogyakarta Special Region. Central Java is the island’s cultural, geographic, and historic heartland. Universities, dance schools, pottery, handicrafts, textiles and carving, give to the region a rich culture and interesting shopping. This is also the place of the famous Javanese temples of Borobudur. But it is not the only ones to be noted; Dieng plateau and Sukuh temple are worth a visit. Performing arts is still widely practiced, and traditional dance dramas (Wayang Orang) or shadow puppets (Wayang Kulit) performances are easy to find. Mountains cross the entire central portion of the province. The cool slopes contain numerous hill resorts (Tawangmangu, Kaliurang, Sarangan).

The very first Moslem kingdom on the island was founded in 1511 at Demak, about 40 km from Semarang. Today Demak is a sleepy little town, however, its glory of the past is still visible from one of the major relics, which is still well preserved. The Grand Mosque, a quaint blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture, still honored and worshipped by Javanese pilgrims.

Surakarta, better known as Solo, is the cradle of Javanese culture in the province. TV courts of Solo embody the noble value that the Javanese attach to grace and refinement, with majestic ceremonies and royal festivals still held with great pomp and circumstance. Although no longer the seat of power it once was, descendants of the royal houses of Solo are regarded as leaders of, Javanese culture and traditions, upholding standards of sophistication and conduct.

The rich and fertile plains of the region support an enormous population of over 30 million people. The low land plains are found alongside the northern beaches. The high land plains are found in the Center of Central Java with mountains stretching lengthwise from the west to the east with a line of mountains, such as Mount Slamet (3,428 m), Mount Perahu (2,585 m), Mount Sindoro (3,135 m) Mount Sumbing (3,321 m), Mount Merapi (3,142 m), Mount Ungaran (2,050 m). Near the border with East Java Province is Mount Lawu (3,265 m), while on the northern side there is Mount Muria (1,602 m). At the feet of these mountains will find pleasant and cool highland plains with beautiful panoramas such as Baturaden, the Dieng Plateau, Bandungan, Kopeng, Tawangmangu, Solo, etc. Apart from these mountains there are some small mountains and lime mountains. The Biggest Rivers found in the Central Java are Serayu River, with its source from the Dieng Plateau and “Bengawan Solo” River.

Geographically

Central Java is located between 5o 40′ and 8o 30′ South Latitude and between 108o 30′ and 111o 30′ East Longitude. This province is bordered by:
North side: Java Sea
South side: Indian Ocean and the Special Territory of Yogyakarta
West side: West Java Province
East side: East Java Province

Wide Area
The wide area of this province is 34,206 sq. km.

Apples are grown in this part of the world, indeed. To be more precise, they are grown in East Java in the mountain region of Malang and Batu. The first apple tree sprouted up decades ago when a Dutchman with a green thumb tried to grow a four-season plant in a wholly different climate and on different soil too. Malang see-me to have the right temperature for apple growing. Situated on a level of 700-800 meter above sea surface, the first trees were doing surprisingly well despite the tropical climate. There was a large difference though between the European apple and his Malang grown sister, which became all too apparent when the first fruits were reaped. The apples were reportedly too sour for consumption. For a while people in Malang regarded the apple tree as a decorative shrub to have in the garden. The fruits went to waste usually as they were soon declared as quite inedible fruit. In several instances reports repeated that apple trees in other parts of the region were not even bearing fruits at all.

Ijen Crater is the biggest crater lake in Java. The sulfur crater lake lies between a natural dams of deeply etched rock. It is 200 meters deep and contains about 36million cubic meters of steaming acid water, shrouded in a smelling swirling sulfur cloud. Inside the crater the different color and size of stones are found. Indeed the crater of Ijen is beautiful garden of stone as well.
The view of sulfur miners who climb and go down to the crater is also amazing. A man puts about 10 kg of yellowish stone in to his basket, before he descends the mountain slope to sell his load, carrying the same basket, going in the same direction, digging the same mineral. It is the natural picture that can be seen everyday.

Mount Bromo (Indonesian: Gunung Bromo), is an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, in East Java, Indonesia. At 2,329 meters it is not the highest peak of the massif, but is the most well known. The massif area is one of the most visited tourist attractions in East Java, Indonesia. The volcano belongs to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.

Mount Bromo sits in the middle of a vast plain called the Sand Sea (Indonesian: Lautan Pasir), a protected nature reserve since 1919. From there it is possible to walk to the volcano in about 45 minutes, but it is also possible to take an organised jeep tour, which includes a stop at the viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan (2,270 meters) (Indonesian: Gunung Penanjakan). The best views from Mount Bromo to the Sand Sea below and the surrounding volcanoes are at sunrise. The viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan can also be reached on foot in about two hours.

Ulundanu Pura Batur located in the lake Beratan, Bedugul is the most important temple in Bali after the second “mother temple” Pura Besakih. This temple was founded to Batari dedicated to the Goddess Danu Ulun, guardian god of rivers and lakes Ulun Danu. This temple was founded in 1926 and Batur is a village located in a caldera at the foot of Mount Batur. When Mount Batur erupted in 1926, the eruption destroyed the village and temple, except the most important temple, Pura 11 level, which is dedicated to the Goddess Danu Ulun Batari. Then the inhabitants migrated to higher ground where they then re-establish their homes and temple.

Ulun Danu was like a kind of temple complex. Consists of 9 different Pura, consisting of a total of 285 temples dedicated to Lord Water, Agriculture, Holy Spirit, Art, etc.. In the Temple of berhawa this cool addition to being a place of prayer, for tourists who visit here can also rent a canoe or motor boat, the boat you can row yourself around and around the lake Beratan. All around the yard there is an old banyan tree that looks very old and large. Meanwhile, many trees surrounding the flowers colorful. For those who visited with the children’s playground is also provided small and simple such as swings and a seesaw. Not far from this temple there is a resting place of the Yellow Temple, the resting place of many food and beverage vendors warm. Many visitors enjoy the time relaxing and mountain views while fishing on a jetty made of bamboo with hook and bait to rent a lot of local residents provided.

Ulun Danu Batur is very convenient for tourists who want to come to Bali to just calm down and enjoy the time away from the noisy turmoil like in Legian and Kuta areas.
