Discover Bank is offering a $25 bonus when you open a money market or online savings or CD. I’ve only seen posts on the $25 CD bonus before. This is a slightly better deal. Here are some details from the bank promo page.

The $25 offer is valid through 1/31/2010. Limit one offer per customer. To receive the cash offer, the offer code listed above must be used when applying. A minimum deposit of $2,500 in new funds must be received within 30 days of submitting an application and must remain on the account for 90 days to remain eligible for the cash offer. The offer will be applied to your Discover Bank account 90 days after new funds have been received.

This isn’t a large bonus but it is easy to qualify as there is no direct deposit requirement. It is better than the CD offer since their interest rate for online savings is much more competitive than their short-term CD rates. My Lending Club Return – 11.06%

My net annualized return with Lending Club is 11.06% according to their figures. This is despite having one loan charged off. This is better than their average return. I think the reason for my return being better than average is because I invested mostly in higher quality loans and I got lucky.

Citizens Bank $100 Checking Account Bonus

Citizens Bank is offering up to $100 in bonuses when you open a checking account and complete some requirements. From the promo page:

To qualify you must open your first new checking, debit card or credit card account between October 1 and November 13, 2009. You must not be or have been a signer on any personal account within the prior six months. Student Checking accounts are not eligible. If you meet these conditions and have at least 1 electronic Direct Deposit of $500 or more you will be paid a $50 bonus. If you make at least 5 online bill payments using our Online Banking site, you will be paid a $25 bonus. If you make a minimum combination of 5 signature-based purchases (non PIN purchases) using your Debit Card or Credit Card you will be paid a $25 bonus. All requirements need to be met by December 31, 2009. All bonuses will be paid by 2/28/2010 and reported to the IRS. Checking account must remain open for at least 6 months or the amount of the banking bonus will be debited from the account at closing.

You can also make up to $120 in bonuses with their Green$ense program but at ten cents a debit I don’t think it is worth the hassle.

You also must live in an area where they have branches to open an account. Most of their branches are located in the Northeast. You can search to see if they have a branch near you on their website or you can go there to get more information on this bank bonus.
