It was wonderfuful to host Physician Assistant students Chloe Nagi and Jadyn Block at BMC. Chloe and Jadyn spent last month working with Dr. Haun doing rounds, operating and following up on patients.

Dr. Teresa Fowler-Clark is one of our most faithful volunteers, coming to serve annually through the support of Samaritan’s Purse World Medical Mission program. Last month, she served alongside us for at BMC.

A huge thanks to the latest two Physician Assistant students to join us through the Trevecca Nazarene University’s PA program. Grace Sweeney and Leah Frydenberg spent almost five weeks assisting Dr. Haun in everything from rounds to surgical cases in the OR. They were a joy have serving alongside of us.

Dr. Nastia Furtak has been a regular volunteer at BMC; she even served for 21 months from 2019-2020 during the COVID pandemic. She continues to return regularly to BMC but this trip was exciting because she brought the first team from Ukraine to work with us this past month.

Accompanying Dr. Furtak were cardiologist Dr. Maria Derzhypilska and medical student Nastia Volkova. All three physicians worked very hard to overcome cultural and language barriers to care for the needs of their patients. We were truly blessed to have this Ukrainian team and hope the partnership will continue for many years.

It was a pleasure to have medical student Andy Le of Houston, Texas come shadow Dr. Haun this past month at BMC. Andy will be a fantastic, future physician with his keen interest in learning and his desire to provide compassionate care through both physical and spiritual healing. We wish him the best as he finishes his final year of med school and heads off to a general surgery residence.

He performed many procedures and even worked through the holidays to assist those in emergency situations. He had high praise for the hardworking staff of BMC.
