I read French accepptably well if only slowly but my writing skills have diminished massivley (FRench was my ‘first second language buit English has dominated )

I did not read *all* of the above but much of it - allow me nevertheless to make some observations as to differences between BC Alsace and the BCs in Germany:

* while BC Alsace seems a rather local meeting the Barcamps in germany have been drawing many visitors both locally and ‘across the republic’. (It looks like Barcamps become more frequently in *.de now and thus also become more local and smaller.)

* While BC Alsace has been five times (in 2 years?) only 2 Cities in Germany have seen 2 Barcamps since Summer 2006(BC Berlin 1): Cologne and Berlin.

Both these factors maybe explain a kind of ‘tiring’ of the participants, totally independently of whether they support the event “from tehir hearts”. For some of us it is also hard to spare weekends for “business”. (Which is not necessarily our view (after al we are meeting “friends”) but that of our families and spouses )

* I have met Philippe and Sacha in Frankfurt at BC there and was fascinated by the idea of a “Barcamp Rhine” mainly becuase it’s European perspective. While I wanted to do a “Barcamp Lac de Constance” on a ship as a kind of “pretest” for BC Rhine (wifi and such) we will now have a barcamp on the SHORE of Lake Constance at the end of May.

I see this EXPLICITELY as an invitation to CH, FL, A and F/Alsace to meet at Lake Constance and take the idea of Barcamps to a new level.

“Berlin II” was the first ‘international’ Barcamp on German soil and I think Lake Constance is a ‘territory’ that “belongs” to the culture and history of D, F, CH, FL and F alike and thus is an ideal location for a ‘Barcamp in the middle of Europe’. (That of course also invites Italy, Eastern Europe and such areas.) FRiedrichshafen has also an airport that I am sure also has flights from Paris and London
If I am correct BC Alsace 5 wll be the first to have three visitors from Germany: Frank, Martin and me. I am rather positive that, if it should by any chance NOT be the last “BC en Alsace” that many more would and will follow us in the future.

I am both happy that I will meet all of you on Friday and Saturday AND I would also be very happy to find many of your names in the wiki on http://barcampbodensee.mixxt.eu - we reserve 50 Spots for our international friends.

Il s’agit de mon premier BarCamp. D’abord tout excité puis tempéré par le côté pessimiste des commentaires (justifiés), c’est finalement l’envie de participer à un événement qui s’annonce passionnant qui l’a emporté.

La warm-up party du vendredi soir me dirait bien aussi mais là, le mulhousien que je suis aurait besoin d’un chauffeur car ma vue m’oblige à éviter les trajets de nuit. Si une âme charitable est partante…

Je terminerai sur les mots de Whirly. Allons-y et pour la suite, nous verrons bien.

* ONG DevCamp : en gros, on choisit une association ayant des besoins TIC, pour par exemple le développement d’un outil/site web pour la gestion de ses problématiques. Dans ce cas des groupes d’environs 15-20 sont largement assez grand.

* OpenCoffeeClub, pour des soirées de discussions informels sur le web et la création d’entreprise dans un bar ou autre (un peu comme les MiniKong du LUG)

* d’autres événements comme les WorldCafes, mais là je m’y connais pas trop.

Et bien sur toujours tous les ~6 mois un BarCampAlsace pour réunir tous le monde.
