For non-professional consumers, we suggest the customer select the notebook battery following to the next tips:

1. Check packaging

Battery packaging should be sealed anti-static bags, anti-static foam lining, which is to protect the basic configuration of the VGP-BPS5 notebook battery.

Battery packaging should have a bar code serial code. Bar code is provided by the factory management of commodity standards to identify the authority logo.

2.check the appearance

Batteries should not be scratched or the appearance of the old sense, or readily available second-hand goods renovation as OEM satellite A100 battery.

Battery case should be clear parameters, performance, application of model identification.

Joints up and down the VGP-BPS5A battery cover should have no marks have been opened.

3. Check the official commitment to the protection of that and after-sale

Formal professional laptop battery grade qualified products cylindrical latitude d800 batteries, since the date of the factory, there are bonds for one year warranty. If you can not have this commitment, then the use of batteries and other materials may not be the quality of very qualified sub-grade batteries but batteries. At present the market with large number of obsolete Japan, South Korea and the poor laptop battery conversion, this product may seem cheap products are actually huge profits, as well as the normal use of notebook computers much damage, the explosion will be serious personal injury caused to consumers.

Trackback: notebook battery review

Steps to maximize the life of your battery

Steps to maximize the life of your battery

There are actions you can take to make your battery last longer during each charge cycle and live longer over many cycles. HP always recommends following the instructions for charging and storage that came with the battery or notebook. On this page we offer additional suggestions to help you get the most from your portable power supply.

Manage battery power more effectively in Windows

Make sure your battery gives the power you need, when you need it. Power Options in Windows XP allow you to control the power management features of your notebook PC.

Learn more about the Power Options in Windows by visiting Microsoft's support site:

? Microsoft: Power Management in Windows XP

Tips for conserving battery power on notebook PCs

You can manually change the power consumption of your notebook PC and conserve laptop battery power.

Reduce the brightness of the screen to the minimum readable level. Use the Fn and F7 or F8 keys to adjust the brightness.

Remove peripherals when not in use. External hard drives, CD-ROMs, Zip drives, PC cards, and other peripheral devices can draw power from your EVO N400C battery even

when they are not in active use. Disconnect them when you have finished using them.
Reduce the speed of your processor. The faster your computer works, the more quickly it uses up the supply of power. By cutting down on processor speed, you can extend the charge of your battery. Methods to reduce processor speed vary from model to model, and your manual should provide instructions for doing so.

Turn off the Wireless On-Off button when it is not in use. If your notebook has one, press the Wireless On-Off button so that the light turns off.

Battery care practices

Battery cells suffer gradual, irreversible capacity loss over time. Such aging occurs more rapidly as temperature and discharge loads increase. Here are some suggested ways to minimize the capacity loss for your F4809A battery.

Store Li-Ion batteries between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F) with 30% to 50% charge.

Do not leave batteries exposed to high temperatures for extended periods. Prolonged exposure to heat (for example, inside a hot car) will accelerate the deterioration of Li-Ion cells.

Remove the battery if the notebook will be stored (turned off and not plugged into AC power) for more than 2 weeks.

Remove the battery if the notebook will be plugged into AC power continuously (via a wall adapter or docking station) for more than 2 weeks.

Note: Recommendations for battery use and storage are covered in the HP ZE4400 battery User Guides for each model.

Calibrate the notebook PC battery

Short discharges and recharges do not fully synchronize the VGP-BPS2C battery's fuel gauge with the battery's state-of-charge. This can result in the amount of power available in one cycle being less than expected or the battery meter being inaccurate.

Under normal usage, Presario 2100 batteries should be calibrated a minimum of once every 3 months. Your battery can be calibrated by following these steps:

Step 1 - Disable the Windows Power Management

In Windows, right-click the Desktop and select Properties in the menu list.

Click the Screen Saver tab and then click the Power button.

Under Power schemes, select Always On in the drop down menu.

Under Settings for Always On power scheme, select Never in each of the drop down menus.

Click OK on the Power Options Properties window and then click OK on the Display Properties window.

Step 2 - Fully charge the battery

Connect the AC adapter to the notebook.

Charge the Ibook G3 battery until the Windows battery meter is at 100%.

Step 3 - Fully discharge the battery

Remove the AC adapter.

Keep the notebook on until the battery has completely drained and the notebook automatically turns off.

Connect the AC adapter to the notebook.

Keep the AC adapter connected to the notebook until the M8416 battery has completely charged.

Step 4 - Enable the Windows Power Management

In Windows, right-click the Desktop and select Properties in the menu list.

Click the Screen Saver tab and then click the Power button.

Under Power schemes, select Portable/Laptop in the drop down menu.

Click OK on the Power Options Properties window and then click OK on the Display Properties window.

The truth about notebook battery

The truth about notebook battery

It’s one of the most important and least understood parts of your notebook—and it provokes so many unanswered questions. Why do laptop batteries gradually lose their ability to hold a charge? Why does it takes longer for a charging notebook to go from 80 to 100 percent charge than it does to go from zero to 80 percent? What’s the difference between a three-cell and a six-cell battery? Rather than shrug our shoulders for another day, we demanded answers from two experts, Matt Kohut, worldwide competitive analyst at Lenovo; and John Wozniak, Ph.D. distinguished technologist at HP.

LAPTOP: At what point during Presario 2100 battery life cycle does a typical notebook battery last longest?

Kohut: The industry average is about 30 percent degradation per year. You’ll probably start to notice after about six months.

John Wozniak: Batteries tend to fade pretty quickly over the first 10 or 20 cycles, and then capacity levels off.

How long does a typical notebook battery last?

Kohut: Roughly, 350 charge cycles. A cycle is cumulative use that reaches 70 percent degradation, or seven times when 90 percent of the battery capacity was used.

What causes a battery to lose capacity over time?

Wozniak: Think of a Presario 2500 battery as having pores, where the electrons flow back and forth between the cathode and the anode. When those pores get clogged, you can’t move the electrons as efficiently anymore. Then the lithium gets bound up on one side or the other, and it no longer contributes to the movement of electrons. It gets backed up.

Do you need to build up a battery memory, or condition it, to get the best performance?

Kohut: This was true in the lithium-metal hydride days, however, with a standard lithium-ion battery, you just need to make sure you charge it fully. Most batteries ship from the manufacturers with an 80 percent charge.

Conditioning, meaning draining the battery to zero and then charging HP ZE4400 battery fully while Windows monitors it, resets the curve. It doesn’t prolong the battery’s life, but it improves accuracy [of the battery monitor]. Over time, the accuracy drifts in the Windows program that measures battery life. That is why it can say that you suddenly went from 80 to 20 percent in five minutes.

How much can you trust the charge status that Windows gives you?

Kohut: If the battery reports full, Windows says it is full. Windows periodically checks the battery, but it is more of a thumbs-up/thumbs-down than a real assessment. Windows is crude; trust it if it’s full, trust it if it’s empty. But know that it doesn’t have the communication to know that the Pavilion DV2000 battery degrades over time. We recommend the Lenovo Power Manager, because it has a lot more smarts. It knows the status of each individual cell, whether it’s balanced, imbalanced, charging, not charging, etc.

John Wozniak: If the BIOS is written correctly, Windows is really accurate; within 1 to 2 percent. The problem is how often it updates.

When charging a notebook, why does the last 5 to 10 Percent take longer than the first 85 to 90 percent?

Kohut: If the EVO N400C battery is low, we will charge it at a faster rate. But when the battery fills up, we back off, because it’s the last bit of charging that causes the issues to form. Other vendors that do rapid charge still back off around the last 10 percent. Dell, for example, does fast charge, pedal to the metal, from zero to 80 percent. Then backs off and coasts into the finish line. Lenovo starts fast, but backs off more and more through the entire charge. This allows for a more even rate of charge. It takes longer overall, but it helps the battery’s longevity.

Some notebooks won’t start charging unless the battery is below a certain level, SAY, 95 percent. Why is that?

Kohut: Charging it to 100 percent every time adds cycles that cause the inspiron 1525 battery to wear out faster. In the typical office situation, you’re plugged in 100 percent all day. Then you take it home, and plug it in again, after losing maybe only 2 percent. If you charge to 100 percent again, you start adding cycles that wear out the battery because you’re initiating a full charge cycle. The thought behind our process is that unless the battery gets below a certain percentage, don’t put it through the stress of charging.

How important is the number of cells in determining battery capacity?

Kohut: The three-, six, nine-celled battery is shorthand for explaining how much laptop battery life a machine has, but watt-hours hours determine capacity. The average consumer has no clue that a nine-cell battery has around 84-watt-hours of power, they just know it’s a nine-cell. One of Lenovo’s competitor’s has two six-cell batteries—a 53-watt-hour and a 47-watt-hour. The second doesn’t deliver the same capacity. To really understand how much power a battery will hold, you need to look at the watt-hours.

Some vendors are advertising two- or three-cell batteries that claim a longer life than six-cell models. Is that possible?

Kohut: There is a fine line. Ibook G3 Battery VGP-BPS2C capacity has gone up in the past few years by making the cells more energy-dense. There used to be 2 amp hour (Ah) cells, but now cells go up to 2.9 amps. If you can control the higher concentration of energy in the smaller space, it’s not a problem. But sometimes this results in violent reactions such as overheating and over-charging. [If a vendor claims its battery lasts a long time with fewer cells,] you want to ask how many watt-hours the pack holds, and about the kind of cells (2.6, 2.9 Ah, etc.).

Should consumers trust third-party batteries?

Kohut: We’ll warranty our own batteries, but if you put a third-party battery in, you void the warranty. That’s because there are good Powerbook G4 battery manufacturers and there are bad ones. Some of the good ones are Panasonic, Sanyo, and Sony. A less reputable company will buy whatever is cheapest, and just drop it in there. The reason a lot of the battery incidents occur in this industry is because of quality control.

We always say that you are taking [the life of your notebook] into your own hands when you buy a third-party battery pack. Yes, you are saving some money up-front but you don’t have the backing of the company behind it.

The article is from : www.laptopmag.com

How to buy a replacement battery online

How to buy a replacement battery online

The feeling is terrible when the laptop power off during working time. With the aging of the chemical characteristics of cells vary. Aging with the use of normal methods. If the frequent charge-discharge of BATCL50L batteries, it will accelerate the aging batteries. Battery life over a period of time, power will gradually shorten the time until the can not be used. Therefore shorten the battery life is a normal situation. Most of you who normally use an external power supply, like not using the travelmate 290 battery, but a matter of fact, the aging process of the battery over time has been less of the battery can only delay the process, but can not make it stop.
The impact of factors such as battery life:Battery charge / release number of the use of the environment temperature (30 ℃ suggested that the use of temperatures below computer) battery storage temperature Shock suffered by the size of the BATCL50L4 battery
Battery using must follow the below "principles"
1. AC Adapter (external power adapter) mode, use the battery if it has not gone through charge / discharge process, the life will be longer than the normal battery.
2. A smaller number of charge and discharge a certain extent, can extend aspire one battery life.
3. In the indoor temperature above 35 ℃, the battery wear and tear than the normal speed when the temperature much faster.
4. Throw, hit, etc. batteries will also accelerate Travelmate 290 battery depletion.
Application of the following battery will significantly shorten the working hours.
The use of CD-ROM drive, such as DVD, CDROM and CDRW drives.
The use of wireless communications equipment, an external PC card or USB device.
The use of high-brightness display settings laptop battery, 3D screen savers or other programs, such as 3D games.
In the highest performance mode of operation of the computer, power management program that is set to "always open" or "Max Battery mode."
The activities of procedures, including procedures for running in the background.
LCD brightness (LCD more light, the greater the power consumption).

Rechargeable battery Recycling Attentions

Rechargeable battery Recycling Attentions

Don't throw away used rechargeable batteries and cell phones! We do not have to worry about damage to the battery.

Connect the 851UY 75UYF 1K500 battery to avoid loss of BIOS information.

To prevent a sudden loss of power break.

2. To prevent exposure to prevent damp to prevent the erosion of liquid chemicals, batteries to avoid contact with metal objects, such as exposure to short-circuit occurrence.

3. Long-term do not use notebooks, how to store the laptop battery?

We will have a period of time not to use the notebook, the 851uy 75uyf 1k500 battery is fully charged to preserve, or to be released after save electricity?

Put long-term preservation of photoelectric batteries will lose their activity and even lead to the control circuit protection self-locking and can not re-use, full of power will bring about long-term preservation of the safety problems, the best method is to save electricity use to 40 or so and then stored in cool dry place, about 20 degrees Celsius is the ideal storage temperature. Of course, the best month to come up with to use a battery, the battery can ensure a good state of preservation, but also does not allow the loss of electricity damage to the battery completely.

How can I exam the Dell battery power? (For example in cell D610 battery)

Remove the battery, press the Macbook Pro battery power signs, we can see the situation of the five battery status lights. For two bright, representing 40% of the electricity. Electricity on behalf of the entire light is sufficient, if the 135-light, that damage the battery.

Second, how to extend as much as possible the work of laptop battery time?

To reduce the screen brightness. How to adjust the brightness of the use of laptop batteries, boot by F2, into the BIOS to adjust the Brightness of Video. Or fn + down / up key combination to adjust the brightness quickly.

Open the CPU speedstep feature, you can greatly extend the working hours of latitude x300 battery; Cpu's speedstep feature is enabled by default BIOS of. When using batteries, cpu will automatically down-use, in order to achieve energy-saving purpose. If not enabled, please start by F2, into the BIOS found in Performance, for the Speedstep Enable setting Enabled. (An earlier version of BIOS is the Alt + P to the sixth page, modify intel speedstep)

make the best use of standby, sleep and other functions. When a longer period of time without a computer, allowing notebook standby or hibernation, both to save power and extend the life of the computer. (Tips: Please confirm the successful installation of graphics drivers, power management options can be set up.)

WINDOWS in the process of power management settings, we generally can be set to "portable / laptop" (Portable / Laptop).

At the same time suggest that you will use the powerbook G4 battery when the wait time to close the monitor is set to 5 minutes, so when we do not operate within a certain period of time the notebook, it will direct the state of black screen, so other than the screen saver to run more power.

when using the battery as much as possible the closure of wireless, Bluetooth and infrared ports. At the same time to remove without the use of peripherals and to avoid the opening of a large 3D program, games and so on, in order to reduce unnecessary battery consumption.

Of course, on the controversy over the use of batteries, there are divergent views have any objection if we can http://bbs.dell.com.cn forum to ask questions, let us discuss how to maintain the battery.

TrackBakc: laptop battery blog

Thinkpad 60 Series "frozen to death" (freeze) solution summary

Thinkpad 60 Series "frozen to death" (freeze) solution summary

Freezing to death is not clear as characteristics, mainly performance freeze, screen images can be seen, but can not operate as if time stopped, the Thinkpad T40 battery hard disk light does not flash, other lights lit normal, press the power button can only be forced to restart, restart without self-test. Take it to service station hardware, the operation shows all normal. This may not be Thinkpad X60 battery probelm, but Core 2 series processor problems. Thinkpad currently address these issues, and Intel have been carried out corresponding measures. Of course, this does not solve the fundamental problem of freezing to death, but has been greatly eased, and so will be to minimize the probability of occurrence.

Solve this problem in five steps:

Step one: Upgrade BIOS, Lenovo officials online have the latest BIOS version 2.19

Download link, http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-63024,

Of course, also mentioned the need to upgrade, and strongly recommended, which the BIOS upgrade in the history of Thinkpad X60S battery is also relatively rare. BIOS upgrade would not say, and in accordance with the step by step readme on the list, no less dangerous, but should pay attention to the battery and AC must be used to prevent power outages, upgrade other programs to close, remember to turn off antivirus software and firewall.

The second step, Intel dual-core patch upgrade, download links

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896256/zh-cn, even after the patch upgrade some manual operation, see the details, http://publish.it168.com/2007/0425/20070425015807. shtml.

The third step is to upgrade Intel micro-code of your thinkpad T60 battery, download link

http://www.microsoft.com/downloa ... 0 & displaylang = zh-cn, the most simple, you can click Run.

The fourth step, upgrading your Thinkpad T61 battery graphics card driver, download links

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62841

The fifth step, upgrade the Thinkpad battery power management process, the download link

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-4GXPEG

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-61583

That's all.

TrackBack laptop battery blog.

Laptop battery using mistakes

Laptop battery using mistakes

Lives Longer In BIOS? - This is one of the few troubleshooting diagnostic tests you can do at home to find out if your A1057 A1057 battery life problem is due to a hardware flaw or to the way the laptop is being operated. Enter the BIOS setup immediately after turning on the notebook on with a fully charged battery, usually by hitting the DEL key, the F1 or F2 key immediately after you power on. Some laptops display a text message telling you what key you need to hit to enter the BIOS setup, on others the message is suppressed by a BIOS setting, but you can always go online and Google the right key combination if it's not in your manual. Once you bring up any BIOS screen, measure the time it takes the laptop battery to run down. If it doesn't outlast the battery life under regular usage by a good margin, the short battery life is probably due to a faulty battery or a hardware failure that causes the laptop to continually suck power when it shouldn't.

AC Adapter Noisy? For starters, this is one of those problems that tends to bother more women than men, because men lose their high frequency hearing at a much earlier age than women. Battery chargers typically include a transformer and some power IC's, at least a bridge rectifier. There's a lot of potential for humming and whistling with transformers, but they can go on operating that way for years without failing. If the battery charger gets very hot, then it's time to check the manufacturer specs for temperature and see if it needs replacement, and check the U4873 D5318 battery temperature as well. In all cases, the acoustic behavior of your AC power adapter and charger may naturally vary with the quality of the power from the utility, and the feed voltage if you are traveling. Anytime you can avoid running a computer on poorly regulated or intermittent utility power you should do so, but at least with a laptop you're better off than with a desktop.

OS Battery Management Active? Older notebooks were equipped with hardware only battery management schemes that controlled both charging and battery operation. All new laptops ship with ACPI (Advanced Configuration Power Interface) which is a marriage between BIOS routines that monitor board level charging and device activity, and the operating system. The operating system power management comes equipped with a number of default profiles that instruct the laptop if and how to nurse the U4873 D5318 battery. There's usually a power user profile that just runs full out with no consideration of battery life, a number of special purpose profiles, such as running a DVD movie for a sole task, and a miserly setting that cuts performance to a minimum and puts devices like the hard drive to sleep when not in frequent use.

You can micro-manage these profiles to suit your needs, and you can always go into the settings and override them or change the profile at any time. The most useful trick to remember for running on G5266 HD438 KD186 battery is how to brighten or dim the LCD screen using the the function screen. Screen brightness is a serious power drain (you're essentially powering a small fluorescent lightbulb) and in most indoor usages, strategic choice of where you sit can add time to your battery life. When troubleshooting battery life issues, you may want to run a power management profile that doesn't come up to your expectations for performance for a few battery cycles just to help diagnose the problem.

DC Voltage Good? Check the voltage at the output of your AC adapter with a DC voltmeter, right on the barrel connector that gets plugged into the laptop. The rule of thumb for acceptable readings on power adapter output is usually a 5% variation either way of the faceplate voltage, and in terms of charging a G5266 HD438 KD186 battery, a high reading is better than a low reading. If you've purchased a lightweight battery charger for travel, don't assume that it's putting out the correct voltage just because there's a connector that fit your notebook. Check your owners manual or the label on the original battery charger that came with the notebook.

LED For Charging Blink? While there's no universal standard, a blinking LED on the battery charge indicator is probably not good news. It often indicates a battery that has been over-discharged, the voltage is so low that it's confusing the charging circuitry into thinking the battery has a dead cell and would just overheat if a charge is pushed into it. The newer the laptop, the smarter the charging logic, and it won't want to try putting a charge into a battery that may damage either the battery or the notebook itself. In some cases, you'll be able to recharge an over depleted inspiron B130 battery if you wait until the notebook is shut down, install the battery, and then plug in the the battery charger, but I'd keep a close eye (and occasional finger) on it for overheating. There are also fuel gauges built into some newer batteries that simply disable the battery when it reaches it's planned cycle life.

Does Battery Get Hot? Recently there have been a spate of high profile stories in the media about laptop batteries catching fire. This wasn't caused by normal heating due to charging. The problem was in the manufacturing process of the individual cells, where apparently some contamination led to internal short circuits that could cause the battery to overheat even if it wasn't in use. Powerbook G4 batteries normally heat up a little on charging, and they heat up even more when discharging under heavy demand. Battery packs usually include a temperature cut-off circuit, that will halt battery charging or discharging if it really overheats. In some cases, the battery will not be usable afterwards because the cut-off acts like a circuit breaker that can't be easily reset.

It certainly doesn't do your laptop battery any good to get very hot, even if it's within the toleration of the protective circuitry, so if it's overheating on discharge, consider running on AC power instead. Just remember you have to shut down before removing the Acer 3000 battery unless it's specified as being hot-swapable:-) You can also try decreasing the performance settings to lower the power drain. If the battery is overheating on charging, you can try charging when the laptop is turned off since the laptop is generating heat as well. Also, pay attention to the ambient air temperature. All notebook computers depend on the ambient air for cooling, so unless you are running the computer on a special cooling pad, think twice about using it on those 110 degree days!

Latch Locks Tight? It's impossible to see what's going on with the connector contact inside the battery compartment once the battery is installed, so the only indicator you have to proper installation (aside from normal operation) is the condition of the latch. If the latching mechanism doesn't show a positive close by clicking back to the relaxed position, try reinstalling the battery. Some laptops have a manual battery lock that is operating separately from the latches, and which will not lock unless the battery is installed properly. If the latches refuse to click closed on their own, remove the battery again, visually inspect for any bulging or distortions in the package, and check the connector for damage.

Notebook Battery daily maintenance FAQ

Notebook Battery daily maintenance FAQ

Note that these steps correspond with decision points on the flowchart and are reached directly by clicking on the diamond symbols. The text below cannot be read sequentially.

Needs AC Adapter to boot? The first step in troubleshooting your inspiron e1705 battery is determining whether it can hold enough charge to boot the notebook. Will the laptop power up and run on the battery, or does the AC adapter which doubles as the laptop battery charger need to be plugged in? Modern notebooks usually have a whole array of status LEDs that will tell you if the laptop senses good power coming from the battery charger and whether or not the battery is charging. Unfortunately, there's no universal standard for these LEDs, their colors or their actions. Note also that we're using the term "boot" rather loosely here. If the laptop powers up on battery, you can hear the fans and the drives, your troubleshooting problem lies elsewhere.

Life Of Battery Too Short? This is the main problem laptop owners complain about, and often for good cause. Older laptops using Ni-Cad and early Ni-MH inspiron 6400 batteries often ran for 2.5 to 3.5 hours when brand new, but within a month or so, would barely keep the notebook powered up for an hour. Newer laptops using Ni-MH and Li-ION batteries are much better, often holding onto a three hour life through hundreds of charge and discharge cycles. The first line of defense against complaints about battery life by the manufacturers is always, "Did you charge and operate the battery according to the manual?" Unfortunately, different laptop manufacturers seem to disagree over how to best treat GD761 batteries of the same technology, and I wouldn't be surprised if the differences extend to different models from the same manufacturer.

If the laptop's Dell D610 battery life has been slowly degrading over time, it's probably operating more or less in accordance with plan, but if you find the operating life shortened by more than 15% or 20% within the first few months, there's probably something wrong. Batteries of all technologies can be "trained" to perform poorly through non-ideal usage patterns, but the Li-ION battery technology is pretty resistant, and as long as you run them all the way down once a month or so, you can probably prevent any serious charging memory issues.

Is Battery New? Purchasers of brand-new laptops are often surprised to find the battery is dead, or runs down very quickly. Even if the a1175 battery was fully charged when the laptop was boxed for shipment, that box may have been sitting in a warehouse for six months or a year before you purchased it in a store, more than enough time for a notebook battery to self discharge to an appreciable degree, even if it's not being drawn upon. If the battery isn't new, and you just received the laptop as a hand-me-down or purchased it second hand, there's no reason to expect that a short Ibook G4 battery life is due to anything other than an aged battery. You can try to recondition the battery (see the laptop manufacturer website for for software that may be available), but odds are the battery simply can't hold a charge the way it did when it was new.

User Condition Powerbook G4 Battery? Some manufacturers may condition the battery before installation in the laptop, others expect you to read the owners manual instructions and do it yourself in the first few days you own the laptop. The most general procedure is to charge the battery fully before use (leaving it on the AC battery charger overnight is best), and then to run exclusively on battery until the battery is discharged. Some brands suggest you run until the operating system warns of low battery life remaining, which could be anywhere from 10% to 3% remaining on standard settings. Others recommend that you run the laptop until it shuts itself down. This doesn't mean that you have to sit there working for three or four hours, you can run the Macbook Pro battery down over multiple sessions over multiple days. The important thing is not to plug the AC power adapter back in and start recharging the battery until it is completely run down. The condition process generally requires you to go through this cycle three times in a row.

Runs Always With aspire 3000 Battery? If the owners manual for your notebook suggests removing the battery when plugged in for prolonged periods, doing so may greatly prolong the battery life in terms of both charge cycles and years. Personally, I tend to be lazy and just leave the battery in all the time, despite the fact I almost always work plugged in. The battery life on the first couple Toshiba's I owned dropped down to a half hour or so of running time within a few months my buying them, so it may have been my fault. Li-ION Aspire 3000 batteries are much more friendly to poor power management habits, but you should run them down to empty once a month to keep them from developing a memory.

Battery conditioning means training the individual LCBTP03003 battery cells into a pattern of giving as much power as they can and accepting the largest charge that they can. It would take an advanced chemistry text and a person much smarter than I to describe the underlying reasons for battery memory, and the techniques for best charging and storing batteries sometimes contradict one another. Once a laptop battery pack is conditioned, you may still need to run it all the way down once a month for best performance, especially if you normally work with the laptop plugged in. It's important to read the owners manual section on battery life, because different models ship with different battery technologies, and the best practices to extend the battery life may not be the same.

Dell,Inspiron E1705, use, experience

Dell Inspiron E1705 use experience

Dell launched its new company, one based on Intel's latest dual-core processors, New notebook Inspiron e1705 battery, the sensation caused by the outside world. In fact, the introduction of Dell notebook computers is not the big events, but this notebook based on Intel's dual-core processors, let us look after.

Dell launched its new company, one based on Intel's latest dual-core processors, New notebook Inspiron e1705, the sensation caused by the outside world. In fact, the introduction of Dell notebook computers is not the big events, but this notebook based on Intel's dual-core processors, let us look. The Dell Inspiron e1705 introduced the use of wide-screen design, which in the Dell e1705 battery model "e" on behalf of the "entertainment", as its name suggests, this laptop is aimed at the entertainment to the. According to a Dell spokesman said the company, which integrates a large number of notebook computers, and multimedia features available, and use of dual-core processor, with a number of slots, high-end graphics card (nVidia GeForce Go 7800). From these configurations, we is not hard to see, Inspiron e1705 for shaping the image of entertainment notebook PCs, is under the feet of the capital.

Dell e1705 17-inch notebook

In fact, the introduction of Dell's new notebook computers and the introduction of the Inspiron 9400 battery had great similarities, in particular, both of which are based on Intel dual-core processor. But another big difference between the two, for example, e1705 available Windows Media Center Edition, and it can be treated as an operating system; e1705 also provides a external USB TV tuner options.

Well, we can not talk about the channels of Dell notebook computers and selling price, and we look at the e1705 or focus on a number of important configuration and performance.

Overall design of e1705

In the overall design, e1705 has carried on the Inspiron 9300 battery notebook computer design, but also based on the Inspiron 9300 battery a great breakthrough. e1705 to the overall silver-gray color-based, with the surrounding white, which makes the whole computer looks very simple and clear, people saw there was a desire to want to buy. On the tone in this area, e1705 and HP are in sharp contrast dv8000z (which the same notebook computer for 17-inch widescreen). the overall design dv8000z very crowded, yesterday I looked, just like all the show full of lights and buttons, not only so, dv8000z tune used is black, and black from start to finish. Personally, I think, e1705 in terms of the design is completely through. But I do not think the e1705 is the best design, for example, production TravelMat Acer notebook computers and Apple's MacBook Pro notebook computers, I think that their design concept a notch higher than the e1705 , but that does not mean that The design on the e1705 will not do, I just feel that compared the two, e1705 just seemed to be somewhat inferior.

In this display, the Dell has provided two options, which means consumers can choose from with a WXGA + (10 cutting the screen known as the WXGA +)-style display, but also can choose to display with UXGA TrueLife. The e1705 I tested with the UXGA TrueLife screen (also the inspiron 6000 battery) is, TrueLife screen as a result of making more light, so much the favorite of consumers. It is because of this, many computer manufacturers in their products equipped with this display, for example, Xbrite Sony laptops, HP's BrightView notebook computers, as well as Fujitsu's notebook computers CrystalView. Not only that, but this glossy design by those who like to entertainment-oriented notebooks in favor of the customer base, mainly because it can smooth the design to provide better color contrast, as well as very good to deal with black-and-white brightness of the difference between, if consumers want to watch movies on the laptop, or browser, then a large number of photographs U4873 D5318, TrueLife display is the best option. However, UXGA resolution also means that the displayed text and icons will be very small, which is relatively weak for those with visual, or do not like the small text of consumers, it is necessary to consider carefully whether to choose UXGA display screen. On the contrary, it rather, WXGA resolution can provide the text, so easy to read data and view the page.

Dell Inspiron E1705 Processor and Performance

As a good product, the processor is critical. Therefore, Dell uses Intel's latest dual-core 2.0GHz processor, which means that e1705 can run several tasks in parallel. Test, I also found that even the anti-virus software to scan for viruses, but also play CD, open the Word and the Outlook window, as well as the HTML Editor and Visual Studio (a code development tool), e1705 running speed and no corresponding slow down U4873 D5318, which made me very surprised, because to run such a large number of procedures , which do not slow down the speed of it is not possible, but Dell has done.

Dell e1705 laptop top design

I think the e1705 is not successful designs in this area, in fact, Dell e1705 in order to allow more people, but also to a large extent reinforced its solid performance as Dell B130 battery, for example, e1705 on the casing and keyboard design is very strong, especially in the design of folding seam Office, Dell is a painstaking, because Dell has been the thousands of open / close up of the test to the e1705 is not out of line, which say it is hardly surprising that Dell e1705 for the "Road Ready", I personally think that the reason why call Dell e1705, probably because the laptop has been such a good design is good for you G5266 HD438 KD186, and only waiting for the majority of the consumers to buy, and somewhat similar to everything said wind.

In addition, the Dell e1705 is also a free-falling and high-temperature tests, all of these tests are a proof of the e1705 is a good machine.

In order to make a more solid performance e1705 Dell e1705 use in a magnesium alloy material design (mainly in the notebook computer at the bottom of the shell and use of this material), this design, in order to provide greater protection e1705, which also means that the shell can provide a very good screen protection. If we do not believe that we may as well be a test case on hand in the press, usually the case, we will have a folding screen to see the waves appear, but the e1705 screen, we are unable to find any such folding wave. At the bottom of the notebook computer using this magnesium alloy timber design, its protective effect is obvious as G5266 HD438 KD186, think about it, if the laptop drops down, or have an enormous impact, such protection is obvious (in particular users e1705 with the mission to go out or go out of office hours). Not only that, e1705 hard drive also features a shock absorber design, this design is to prevent the computer after the break, to protect the data in the hard disk are not disturbed, played the role of data protection.

In order to strengthen the Dell e1705's durability, especially in the department's application of the folding seam steel design, all-around ring to plastic boxes (mainly will have a stabilizing effect). When we hold hands when the e1705 is feeling less than its displays of any abnormal instability.

In general, e1705 of this design I was very impressed, I believe that this design concept will be in the near future will replace the desktop machine. Dell Inspiron e1705 and inspiron B130 battery as a high-end entertainment models, and its impact on the people there will once again select the home entertainment computer thinking, compared to bulky, complicated to connect desktop computers, high-end entertainment notebook has its inherent advantages. With the prices of factors such as changes in attitudes, there will be more and more people choose high-end entertainment notebook such as the first choice for home entertainment.

The article is from notebook battery review

Improving apple notebook by calibrating your battery

Improving apple notebook by calibrating your battery

You can calibrate your iBook, PowerBook, MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro computer's lithium ion battery for best performance.

The battery has an internal microprocessor that provides an estimate of the amount of energy in the battery as it charges and discharges. The a1175 battery needs to be recalibrated from time to time to keep the onscreen battery time and percent display accurate and to keep the battery operating at maximum?efficiency. You should perform this procedure when you first use your computer and then every few months after that. If you normally leave your Apple portable computer connected to AC?power and very rarely use it on battery power you may want to perform this process once a month. The website?www.apple.com/batteries?has more helpful information regarding batteries and offers an iCal calendar to remind you to calibrate your battery.?

Note:?If you're not sure which model of PowerBook you have, see PowerBook G4 Computers: How to Identify Different Models for assistance.

Products Affected

iBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook, PowerBook, MacBook Air

iBooks and PowerBook G4s other than the PowerBook G4 battery (15-inch Double-Layer SD)

Plug the power adapter in and fully charge your computer's a1185 A1022 battery until the battery indicator lights turn off and the adapter plug light goes from amber to green, which indicates that the battery is fully charged.

Disconnect the power adapter and use your iBook or PowerBook. When your battery gets low, you will see the low battery warning dialog on the screen. Continue to use your computer until it goes to sleep. At that point the battery has been sufficiently drained for calibration.

Connect the power adapter and leave it connected until the battery is fully charged again.

You have to fully charge and then discharge your battery only once to calibrate it. After that, you can connect and disconnect the power adapter when the battery is at any charge level.

Tip: When the A1175 A1185 battery reaches "empty", the computer is forced into sleep mode. The battery actually holds a reserve beyond "empty", to maintain the computer in sleep for a period of time. Once the battery is truly exhausted, the computer is forced to shut down. At this point, any open files could be lost. Therefore, it is important that you find an electrical outlet and connect the adapter before the forced shutdown occurs.

PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD), MacBook (all models), Macbook Pro Series battery (all models), MacBook Pro (17-inch) (all models) and?MacBook Air

The battery calibration for the PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD) and any model of MacBook or MacBook Pro has been updated because of a new A1079 battery released with this computer. With these computers, follow these steps to calibrate your battery:

Plug in the power adapter and fully charge your PowerBook's battery until the light ring or LED on the power adapter plug changes to green and the onscreen meter in the menu bar indicates that the battery is fully charged.

Allow the battery to rest in the fully charged state for at least two hours. You may use your computer during this time as long as the adapter is plugged in.

Disconnect the power adapter while the computer still on and start running the computer off battery power. You may use your computer during this time. When your battery gets low, the low battery warning dialog appears on the screen.

At this point, save your work.? Continue to use your computer; when the PowerBook G4 battery gets very low, the computer will automatically go to sleep.

Turn off the computer or allow it to sleep for five hours or more.

Connect the power adapter and leave it connected until the battery is fully charged again.

Tip: When the battery reaches "empty", the computer is forced into sleep mode. Once the battery is truly exhausted, the computer is forced to shut down. At this point, with the safe sleep function introduced in the PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD) computers, the computer's memory contents have been saved to the hard drive. When power is restored, the computer returns itself to its pre-sleep state using the safe sleep image on the hard drive.

You can calibrate your iBook, PowerBook, MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro computer's lithium ion battery for best performance.

The Ibook G3 battery has an internal microprocessor that provides an estimate of the amount of energy in the battery as it charges and discharges. The battery needs to be recalibrated from time to time to keep the onscreen battery time and percent display accurate and to keep the battery operating at maximum?efficiency.

Products Affected

iBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook, PowerBook, MacBook Air

iBooks and PowerBook G4s other than the PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD)

Plug the power adapter in and fully charge your computer's apple laptop battery until the battery indicator lights turn off and the adapter plug light goes from amber to green, which indicates that the battery is fully charged.

Tip: When the battery reaches "empty", the computer is forced into sleep mode.

PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD), MacBook (all models), MacBook Pro (all models), MacBook Pro (17-inch) (all models) and?MacBook Air

The apple laptop battery calibration for the PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD) and any model of MacBook or MacBook Pro has been updated because of a new battery released with this computer.

Continue to use your computer; when the laptop battery gets very low, the computer will automatically go to sleep.

Turn off the computer or allow it to sleep for five hours or more.

Connect the power adapter and leave it connected until the battery is fully charged again.

Tip: When the battery reaches "empty", the computer is forced into sleep mode. The Ibook G4 battery actually keeps back a reserve beyond "empty", to maintain the computer in sleep for a period of time. At this point, with the safe sleep function introduced in the PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD) computers, the computer's memory contents have been saved to the hard drive. On tear down of the older battery that this new one replaced, I counted 14 large scale surface mount IC's and many small ones on two circuit boards.2) The batteries are spot welded to the connection straps which makes for a strong anti shock connection.3) Trying to repair the old 4 cell battery... I found that, taking time and the cost of one cell into account, it was cheaper to purchase the new 6 cell battery pack than to try and repair the old one.Cons1)individual Dell D610 battery cells are extremely difficult to find (in the US) and expensive. These are industrial type battery cells.2) Unless you have a hot air SMT desoldering station there are no serviceable parts in the battery pack. My recomendation is don't bother taking one apart... it is a waste of time (and could be dangerous also).
ReviewI purchased this 6 cell battery for my fathers Latitude D600. It was shipped very quickly to the house and my father has been very haapy with his notebook since the new battery was installed. After an initial charge I turned on the D600 and let the system settle down ( hard drive and cd stop spinning ). After about a 5 minute wait I checked the battery level monitor and it showed a 14 hour charge remaining, this happened to my pa3465u-1brs PA3451U-1BRS. (keep in mind that this number can change ALOT when you access the hard drive or optical drive). I am pretty happy with the results.
Normal performance is restored. Too bad it has to cost so much to get there. In general, I've had good luck with Dell batteries so long as you condition them properly (run them all the way down before charging, etc.) and battery life is greatly improved over the last few years as vgp-bps2c vgp-bps2a, but the technology is still lagging behind the rest of the machine.
Dell should really start a policy of providing a means to return the old battery in the shipping box for the replacement to allow recycling. No telling how many of the old units wind up dumped into the environment simply because it's such a pain to get them to a place that recycles. Dell offeres recycling on old PC's, why not batteries too?

How to replace and calibrate the Apple Macbook battery

How to replace and calibrate the Apple Macbook battery

Last week I bought a new Macbook battery from the Apple Store to replace the slightly aged one that came with the machine. I’m travelling shortly and I need enough juice to play MAME and Doom do some work while I sit in airports waiting for connecting flights.

Late last week a parcel came for me, my new laptop battery! Here’s how I replaced the old battery and calibrated the new one, with nice pictures.

The Macbook battery as (A1189 A1185,A1175) compartment is simple to open. Grab a coin, insert into the slot and twist.

Now, why couldn’t they make the iPod battery as easy to replace? Phone covers can be removed to get at the battery and sim card so it’s not a difficult job to do. There’s an interesting iPod battery FAQ here. I expect this question applies to any Lithium Ion Macbook Pro 13 battery Macbook Pro 15 battery Macbook Pro 17 battery, not just the iPod’s one.

Q: Is it okay to leave the iPod in the dock, or otherwise attached to external power, for extended periods of time?

A1: Yes. The iPod’s circuitry will no longer charge the apple laptop battery once it is determined to be full, even if the iPod is still attached to external power.

A2: This can also be a more complicated issue. Lithium ion batteries age faster when stored at full charge. If your usage of the iPod consists almost exclusively of use while plugged in for extended periods of time such as weeks or months, and very limited usage from the battery, the battery is essentially always in a charged state. A fully charged lithium ion battery ages at a faster rate than a lithium ion pa3451u-1brs pa3465u-1brs battery at the optimum storage capacity of approximately 40%. However, keeping an iPod battery near this optimum storage capacity can prove difficult to manage. A lithium ion battery also ages from use, as well as from storage, so the aging effects of constant use of the battery in order to keep the charge closer to 40%, versus constant use while attached to external power, come close to being even.

Once I switched my Macbook on again my new battery was at 39% already and following the official Apple docs:

Charge the battery fully until the LED on the power cable goes green.

Leave it plugged into mains power for 2 hours. (doing that now)

Disconnect mains power and run the laptop off the battery until the machine goes to sleep.

Turn off the machine or let it go to sleep for at least 5 hours.

Plug the laptop into the mains again and fully charge the battery.

Tip: When the pa3451u-1brs pa3465u-1brs battery reaches "empty", the computer is forced into sleep mode.

I wonder if calibrating your battery really helps? Has anyone done a controlled test over a length of time to compare two batteries?

I’m not sure why Coconut Battery reports that the “original battery capacity” was 5200mAh. Maybe that refers to my old battery? Please Notice this the tips can use in A1189 A1185,A1175.

The content is from http://ocaoimh.ie/

The temperature and the battery

The temperature and the battery

In the mobile use of notebook, Latitude D610 battery life decide the notebook use time. As with lithium-ion notebook batteries, in a non-normal temperature, the too high or too low temperature will damage the battery, so how does temperature affect the notebook battery?

A ,0-40 ℃ is the most reasonable working environment

When using the notebook, humidity, static electricity, temperature etc. have an impact on it, but the lithium-ion Dell D610 battery the most sensitive to temperature, the temperature too high or too low, the battery will bring negative impact to varying degrees, usually the limits of lithium-ion batteries for ambient temperature -20 ℃ ~ 60 ℃, and 0 ℃ ~ 40 ℃ is the most reasonable working environment, but to play the performance potential of notebook batteries c1295 6y270 3r305, 20 ℃ was the best use of the environment around.

Second, It will reduce the battery life below -25 ℃

Although the laptop battery in -20 ℃ to allow the use of the environment, but that the PA3465U-1BRS battery will charge and discharge performance of a great general, the lower the ambient temperature, the activity of cell activity were lower electrolyte resistance and viscosity The higher the ion diffusion more difficult, not easy to charge and discharge latitude D600 battery.

For example, when the environmental temperature is below zero C1295, the battery charge-discharge efficiency will be greatly reduced, which will be very slow charging speed, full time electric power supply after only about 60% of the original, when the ambient temperature falls below the minimum temperature limit (for example -- 25 ℃), the battery electrode reaction rate is very low, even from the electrolyte freezing point, the latitude D600 battery performance may be only 10%, seriously affecting battery life.

III, The battery may explode above 60 ℃

With the low temperature case, if the laptop battery in high temperature environment, which will affect the battery's charge-discharge efficiency, but also for more serious damage to the Inspiron 510m battery, for example, or as a result of the use of inferior charger charging time is too long, making the battery 3R305 larger heat, When the temperature exceeds the maximum charge temperature limit, this will destroy the chemical balance within the cell, resulting in performance degradation of battery materials, to reduce battery life.

The same reason, the battery during the discharge time, that is, when we use the notebook, due to internal short-circuit the battery or the battery design flaw, if the operating temperature exceeds the maximum limits, lower battery life receded, the situation will be serious emergence of the explosion, burning and so on.

6y270 3r305

The Dell Inspiron 510m is a little bit different from Inspiron series of the past, the Inspiron 510m battery is market for small business users and designers. Up from the design and characteristics the inspiron 510m may more like Inspiron 5000 series, but it still have some important changes. The use of integrated graphics chip is the most significant changes of Inspiron 510m battery Series as Inspiron 5000.

But since the general view that business users will not use the notebook to play games, so graphics chips change and users will not be a focus obef debate. More importantly, the changes should be three times the bandwidth of its built-in 802.11 WiFi wireless card, you can use it 802.11a/b/g wireless network connection. This means that with this Inspiron 510m latitude d610 battery, you can connect wireless Internet access all over the world. This is a good news for the people who often necessarily carry books around the staff. In addition to WiFi wireless card, this Inspiron 510m is also a standard Bluetooth interface, as long as you have a Bluetooth cell phone support, you can send and receive an email anywhere.

Although this Inspiron 510m with Pentium M 1.7GHz processor, but there is no Intel Centrino paste (Centrino) label, it is because its wireless chip is not Intel, but Broadcom produced. Another regret is that Inspiron 510m is only 256MB of PC2100 DDR SDRAM memory as latitude D600 battery, although you can slowly upgrade their own future, the cost to upgrade is much cheaper than buy from Dell, but the two memory slots are filled. The laptop have a big enough hard drive, a 60GB, standard DVD / CD-RW combo drive which is the mainstream of the current configuration.

1400x1050 resolution is very common in many 15-inch notebook screen , and Inspiron 510m course this is no exception. We mentioned above, the laptop is the use of integrated graphics chips, so it is not ideal when running 3D applications, but running Windows system and DVD playback with 3R505 is not a problem . Intel Extreme integrated graphics chip to allow the largest share 64MB of system memory, but performance of the system maybe solow if you show too much memory.

The most problem of Inspiron 510m is the inspiron 510m battery capacity. Inspiron 510m battery only can last 2 hours 28 minutes. Although this and the Dell battery standard work time, but I think that for business users that is too short. Commercial users for 2 hours 28 minutes is also too short. In order to solve the problem of Dell D610 battery, Dell provides a choice of a second C1295 battery. Dell said this back-up battery to provide them with additional two hours of electricity.

Conclusion:

From its characteristics, performance and battery life, the Inspiron 510m is really a hodgepodge of laptop. Its distinctive characteristics, a moderate level of performance (although within plus 256M Kept on will increase performance), short laptop battery life. However, it is not expensive relative to the prices, or be a rugged business notebook.

The article is from laptop battery blog

Canon BG-E3 DSLR Battery Grip review

Canon BG-E3 DSLR Battery Grip review
After sold out the EF-s 18-55mm, I intend to buy a tripod, but finally meet someone sell BG-E3, the price is reasonable, so I put away the tripod temporarily to seize this rare opportunity. Most of the person can not understand that why want to buy a battery grip? The price is expensive, and seems not valuable, I also hesitate for a long time before I buy it. After I use it, I found the battery grip is really very useful. Now there are many battery grips in the market as Canon BG-E3 BG-E5 BG-E2N, Nikon MB-D40 MB-D80 MB-D200, Sony VG-B30AM and So on.Compared with BG-E3 350D, the machine performance improvement can be listed as follows:
Add the vertical photo function. It is quite suit for me, as I prefer to take photo vertically, previously, I have to hold up my hand to take photo, it is not only tried but also difficult to hold stable, the success rate is low, and arm is sore, if the camera lens is heavy, it Is easy to be disabled.
Increase the machine body hand feel. As the body design is very small, little finger has no place to put, it is often emerge un-stable situation, if with a grip, it will be more stable.
Enhance the power. 350d is quite power saving, according to my own using experience, it mainly can take around 400pcs photos, and the battery will show low power when it remains 20% power, but if the photo capacity is quite large and without charger, it is bad, BG-E3 can use 2pcs NB-2LH battery to supply power, the duration ability enhanced a lot, besides, if it is still not enough, then you can use 6pcs AA battery to take photo to solve the power shortage problem.
Enhance the brightness degree. It is due to your own psychological effect, after install the battery grip, it is brighter, but also heavy, the machine body and camera lens weight increase to 1200g, it seems like that I have to take more exercises, as the good photo not only need excellent technique but only healthy body. ===================================BG-E3======================================
Packaging case 。。。BG-E3 battery grip It can put 6pics AA battery and 2 pics nb-2lh battery DSLR Battery Grip (Face)DSLR Battery Grip (Back)
Also you want to know more about DSLR battery grip, view the Nikon and Canon DSLR battery grip page.
Track Back : laptop battery blog

Dell battery User's Guide

Dell battery User's Guide
Battery Performance
NOTE: For information about the Dell? warranty for your computer, see the Product Information Guide or separate paper warranty document that shipped with your computer.
For optimal computer performance and to help preserve BIOS settings, operate your Dell portable computer with the main battery installed at all times. One battery is supplied as standard equipment in the battery bay.
NOTE: Because the Dell 6400 battery may not be fully charged, use the AC adapter to connect your new computer to an electrical outlet the first time you use the computer. For best results, operate the computer with the AC adapter until the battery is fully charged. To view battery charge status, click the Start button, click Control Panel, double-click Power Options, and then click the Power Meter tab.
Battery operating time varies depending on operating conditions.
NOTE: Battery operating time (the time the inspiron 1720 battery can hold a charge) decreases over time. Depending on how often the battery is used and the conditions under which it is used, you may need to purchase a new battery during the life of your computer.
Operating time is significantly reduced when you perform operations including, but not limited to, the following:
Using optical drives
Using wireless communications devices, PC Cards, or USB devices
Using high-brightness display settings, 3D screen savers, or other power-intensive programs such as 3D games
Running the computer in maximum performance mode.
NOTE: It is recommended that you connect your computer to an electrical outlet when writing to a CD or DVD.
You can check the Dell D620 battery charge (see Checking the Battery Charge) before you insert the battery into the computer. You can also set power management options to alert you when the battery charge is low (see Configuring Power Management Settings).
CAUTION: Using an incompatible battery may increase the risk of fire or explosion. Replace the Dell D630 battery only with a compatible battery purchased from Dell. The battery is designed to work with your Dell computer. Do not use a battery from other computers with your computer.
CAUTION: Do not dispose of batteries with household waste. When your battery no longer holds a charge, call your local waste disposal or environmental agency for advice on disposing of a lithium-ion battery. See "Battery Disposal" in the Product Information Guide.
CAUTION: Misuse of the Dell D620 battery may increase the risk of fire or chemical burn. Do not puncture, incinerate, disassemble, or expose the battery to temperatures above 65°C (149°F). Keep the battery away from children. Handle damaged or leaking batteries with extreme care. Damaged batteries may leak and cause personal injury or equipment damage.
Checking the Battery Charge The Dell QuickSet Battery Meter, the Microsoft Windows Power Meter window and icon, the XPS m140 battery charge gauge, and the low-battery warning provide information on the battery charge.
Dell? QuickSet Battery MeterIf Dell QuickSet is installed, press
to display the QuickSet Battery Meter. The inspiron e1705 Battery Meter displays status, battery health, charge level, and charge completion time for the battery in your computer.
Microsoft? Windows? Power MeterThe Windows Power Meter indicates the remaining 40D battery grip charge. To check the Power Meter, double-click the icon on the taskbar.
If the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, a icon appears.
Charge Gauge
Before you insert a DV1000 battery, press the status button on the battery charge gauge to illuminate the charge-level lights. Each light represents approximately 20 percent of the total battery charge. For example, if the battery has 80 percent of its charge remaining, four of the lights are on. If no lights appear, the battery has no charge.
Health GaugeThe battery operating time is largely determined by the number of times it is charged. After hundreds of charge and discharge cycles, DV2000 battery lose some charge capacity, or battery health. To check the battery health, press and hold the status button on the battery charge gauge for at least 3 seconds. If no lights appear, the battery is in good condition, and more than 80 percent of its original charge capacity remains. Each light represents incremental degradation. If five lights appear, less than 60 percent of the charge capacity remains, and you should consider replacing the battery. See Specifications for more information about the battery operating time.
NOTICE: To avoid losing or corrupting data, save your work immediately after a low-battery warning. Then connect the computer to an electrical outlet, or install a second battery in the media bay. If the battery runs completely out of power, hibernate mode begins automatically.
A low-battery warning occurs when the battery charge is approximately 90 percent depleted. The computer beeps once, indicating that minimal battery operating time remains. During that time, the speaker beeps periodically. If two DV4000 batteries are installed, the low-battery warning means that the combined charge of both batteries is approximately 90 percent depleted. The computer enters hibernate mode when the battery charge is at a critically low level. For more information about low-battery alarms, see Configuring Power Management Settings.
Conserving Battery Power
Perform the following actions to conserve battery power:
Connect the computer to an electrical outlet when possible because battery life is largely determined by the number of times the battery is used and recharged.
Place the computer in standby mode or hibernate mode (see Power Management Modes) when you leave the computer unattended for long periods of time.
Use the Power Management Wizard (see Configuring Power Management Settings) to select options to optimize your computer's power usage. These options can also be set to change when you press the power button, close the display, or press <fn><esc>.
Charging the Battery
NOTE: With Dell? ExpressCharge?, when the computer is turned off, the AC adapter charges a completely discharged Dell 1300 battery to 80 percent in about 1 hour and to 100 percent in approximately 2 hours. Charge time is longer with the computer turned on. You can leave the battery in the computer for as long as you like. The battery's internal circuitry prevents the battery from overcharging.
NOTE: If you want to use a 9-cell inspiron 1300 battery to obtain Dell ExpressCharge, you need to use it in conjunction with a 90-W AC adapter.
When you connect the computer to an electrical outlet or install a battery while the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the computer checks the battery charge and temperature. If necessary, the AC adapter then charges the battery and maintains the battery charge.
If the battery is hot from being used in your computer or being in a hot environment, the battery may not charge when you connect the computer to an electrical outlet.
The Dell 6000 battery is too hot to start charging if the light flashes alternately green and orange. Disconnect the computer from the electrical outlet and allow the computer and the battery to cool to room temperature. Then connect the computer to an electrical outlet to continue charging the battery.
Replacing the Battery
CAUTION: Before performing these procedures, turn off the computer, disconnect the AC adapter from the electrical outlet and the computer, disconnect the modem from the wall connector and computer, and remove any other external cables from the computer.
CAUTION: Using an incompatible GD761 or U4873 battery may increase the risk of fire or explosion. Replace the battery only with a compatible battery purchased from Dell. The battery is designed to work with your Dell? computer. Do not use a battery from other computers with your computer.
NOTICE: You must remove all external cables from the computer to avoid possible connector damage.
To remove the battery:
If the computer is connected to a docking device (docked), undock it. See the documentation that came with your docking device for instructions.
Ensure that the computer is turned off or in hibernate mode (see Hibernate Mode).Slide the two battery-bay latch releases on the bottom of the computer toward the sides of the computer until they are engaged.
Grasp the battery by the Dell 1525 battery tab and slide the battery horizontally toward the front of the computer.
Lift to remove the battery from the bay.
To replace the battery, follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
Storing a Battery
Remove the Dell 1520 battery when you store your computer for an extended period of time. A battery discharges during prolonged storage. After a long storage period, recharge the battery fully before you use it.
The document is from Dell.com support

Sony guides about using battery and AC Power

Sony guides about using battery and AC Power
On Using the Battery Pack
Do not leave Sony VGP-BPS2 battery packs in temperatures above 140°F (60°C), such as in a car parked in the sun or under direct sunlight.
Battery life is shorter in a cold environment. This is due to decreased battery efficiency at low temperatures.
Charge battery packs at temperatures between 50°F to 86°F (10°C to 30°C). Lower temperatures require longer charging times.
While the VGP-BPS2 battery pack is in use or being charged, heat builds up in the battery pack. This is normal and is not cause for concern.
VAIO computers are designed to operate only with genuine Sony batteries.
Keep the battery pack away from all sources of heat or humidity.
Keep the VGP-BPS2C battery pack dry.
Do not open or try to disassemble the battery pack.
Do not expose the battery pack to any mechanical shock.
If you are not using your computer for a long period of time, remove the VGP-BPS2A battery pack from the computer to prevent damage to the battery pack.
If, after fully charging the battery pack, the battery power is still low, the battery pack may be reaching the end of its life and should be replaced.
You do not need to discharge the battery pack before recharging.
If you have not used the battery pack for a considerable amount of time, recharge the VGP-BPL2 battery pack.
Do not handle damaged or leaking lithium ion batteries. If liquid from the battery gets into your eyes, cleanse with clean water and immediately contact a physician.
Danger of explosion if VGP-BPS2C battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
The VGP-BPL2C battery pack used in this device may present a fire or chemical burn hazard if mistreated.
Dispose of used battery promptly and in accordance with all applicable laws. Do not incinerate.
Keep the computer and all accessories away from children.
Do not transport or store the computer close to metal objects which may cause a short-circuit.
Do not use charging methods other than those specified
On Using the AC Power Source
See the online Specifications to check the power operation of your model.
Do not share the AC outlet with other power-consuming equipment, such as a photocopier or paper shredder.
You can purchase a VGP-BPS2 power strip with a surge protector. This device prevents damage to your computer caused by sudden power surges, in an electrical storm, for example.
Do not pull or place heavy objects on the power cord. Do not use power cords between the VGP-BPS2C product and desks or walls or bend or damage it at any time. Damage to the power cord could cause fire or electrical shock.
To disconnect the power cord, pull it out by the plug. Never pull the cord itself.
Unplug your computer from the AC outlet if you are not planning to use the computer for a long period of time.
Make sure that the AC outlet is easily accessible to VGP-BPS2A.
When the AC adapter is not used, unplug it from the AC outlet.
Use the AC adapter supplied with your computer or genuine Sony VGP-BPS5 products. Do not use any other AC adapter as it may cause a fire or electrical shock.
The Article is from Sony Suppport Center

Dell battery User's Guide : Battery Performance

Dell battery User's Guide : Battery Performance

NOTE: Battery operating time (the time the Dell D820 battery can hold a charge) decreases over time.

Replace the Inspiron e1505 battery only with a compatible battery purchased from Dell.

All the content is from Dell.com support Center.

<media:rating>adult</media:rating>
Battery university: offer some battery tips

Latitude D420 battery [del.icio.us]

<taxo:topics xmlns:taxo="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/taxonomy/">
