It was Tuesday,18th of May.I had been to Mumbai for some work and had to return back home.I wanted to catch the first train possible so that I could reach early.I headed to Bandra Terminus.The time was 12:40 pm.I stood in a line for an unreserved ticket and then there was just one thing that I was doing; counting the number of people ahead of me.The number was not too large though,just 63... LoL!!! I got my ticket at 1:15 pm , had some refreshments and started moving so that i can get a seat.The train was scheduled for 2:50 pm. I had expected to get a seat because i was early by one an a half hours.But hey! its India & Indian Railways.The train was jam-packed.I took two full rounds from the engine to the guard coach.Thats more than 3 kilometres in scorching heat and a very heavy stomach just to find disappointment. I had no other option but to get into the General coach.Luckily,yes,it was just luck that got me a seat.WOW! A place to sit,that was a relief. And now starts the 'matters' as we call it on this blog-

India's transport system is in a dismal state.I am not saying the transportation system is bad but the developments are slow and often,the quality is bad.Today,travelling by a train means to get a reservation.That's the only possible way to get a seat (or you need luck like i had the other day).If you get a reservation for an AC coach,its fine.But take in First Class or Second Class and you are just going to have a bad day.You will get a place to sit,bt you'll have to share it with others.People would just keep pouring in.And now,what if you don't get a reservation or there is an urgency and you need to travel in a general,unreserved compartment? One word- "torture".Getting into such a compartment is difficult.There is no place to stand.People even occupy the filthy and stinking toilets.Then the hawkers keep on irritating.And the big menace;the Passholders.They would make everyone just get up from their seats,sit like a king,play cards,have food,etc.and if anyone of us tries to argue,they would start hitting us.I think they are born-rude.As for the people,being disciplined would make train journeys a lot more easier.I feel that those people who show their 'ego' should learn that there's no fun troubling others.And yes,we do have brokers who would get tickets for you just 2 hours before when the reservation window says its not available.These are mafias.Plus corruption and red-tapism at every level.Even the coolies reserve seats and ask for money to allow people to sit.The Ticket Conductors wouldnt give you a receipt when you ask for a seat and keep the money in their pocket.How can we tell people that listening to loudspeaker is not cool,smoking is an offence,etc.If you guys have a solution,please let me know.

Two months back,7 people were killed in Vapi,Gujarat while standing on the tracks waiting for a train heading towards Bihar.Same happened a week back in New Delhi killing 2 people.You know what was common? The train was for Bihar.And the reason,as Mamta Bannerjee,Union Railway Minister,truly said were the people.A million people travel through the ever stuffed Suburban trains of Mumbai but how often have you heard of death? For a train going to Bihar or Uttar Pradesh,police have to reach to the station before the train and make the people stand in a line.Sometimes even hit them.Isn't this shameful?Can't we use our brains and be civilised and just stand in a line?

We need a movement people! A movement of Awareness!

Please keep your suggestions pouring and ask your friends and family to read this post hoping this will reach to those people who are incharge of the Indian Railways.

Salute to the Martyrs

We Salute To All Martyrs who gave their Lives to save our people without thinking of Their Families,their Dreams and their lives. Government will soon announce compensation money, some already did. Martyred policemen and commandos will get medal and their family will be honored. This is not to honor our martyrs who gave their lives without any self gain but just to saw that we honored the martyrs and our duty has been fulfilled. but after some days or months more will be killed and they will be honored too but is this just a duty of politicians of India? When will they try to stop killer? how many lives they sacrifice just because they just performing their duties? There are so many questions which can be raise, and this can be taken as a criticism, But these is reality. people salute everyone and forget about then and back to their busy life. and this cycle repeats again & again. But we never get a solution and we can't stop terrorism just by replacing Home Minister or Chief Minister, this should not be their plan of action after this hazardous terrorist attack. & What Are The Duties Of People, Think Over It....

Please pay your highest respect and condolence to everyone who fought for our country and our people and martyred & Pray for their families and salute their courage. TERROR HITS MUMBAI, YET AGAIN !!!

On the 26th of November,2008, terror hit Mumbai yet again!!!!
Mumbai has been hit by terror a number of times; the serial blasts in 1993,the train blasts in 2007,etc. These were mainly targeted to the middle-class people.But this time around,it was the turn of the Upper Class,the rich.The targets were

(i)The Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus(CST)/Victoria Terminus(VT)

(ii)The Taj Mahal Hotel & Palace

(iii)The Oberoi & Trident Hotels

(iv)The Nariman House

I'm not writing this to inform you about how the terrorist attacked these places. Everytime Mumbai is attacked, people talk about the "Spirit of Mumbai".But you guys tell me,is there any other alternative other than going back to work? Should we sit at homes and just see the stupid news channels giving out the plans of the armed forces who are busy rescuing the hostages?
Well,this is not done! Our politicians are of no use!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Deputy Chief Minister & the Home Minister Mr.R R Patil says " such incidents happen in big cities like Mumbai". I'd like to tell him that if you are the Home Minister, it is your responsibility to ensure our safety and inturn you are passing such absurd comments! I'd only like to say--

"ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

DRUGGING THE NATION

The law says it's a crime.The police are after them.It's responsible for the death of hundreds and thousands of people every year.Any guesses?????? I'm talking about drugs!!

Each & every nation of the world have observed the effects of drugs on it's people.It has led them to form laws which either ban or discourage the consumption of drugs.

Whether it's cocaine,marijuana,ecstasy or any x,y,z drugs; it has never had a good effect on human beings.But people enjoy it!. It takes them to 'heaven'.It gives them 'pleasure'.Everyone knows that drugs are banned in India and elsewhere too.But they try it once & then it's impossible for them to stop it's consumption.

I'd like to take a diversion from here to express my experience on the issue.I've been in Mumbai for the past 1 year.Like everyone else i considered it the city of dreams.I felt like this is the place one would like to be.But then i observed that educated people who knows the effects of smoking,drinking and taking drugs were also consuming these.

I took part in the college festival.I was a volunteer and had a duty form 6:00 am to 11:30 pm.I enjoyed it a lot! On the first day,when i was returning home, i saw a group of 5-6 people sitting in a corner covering themselves with blankets.As i was walking i saw two of them snorting drugs & others transfusing blood through a single syringe.I was so frightened at that moment! I was alone on the road at 12:00 am & a group of mas people with really red devilish eyes staring at me! I ran home and told my guardians about this.I was really tired but was unable to sleep.As days passed, i tried to concentrate on my studies.But i was unable to forget that group of people taking drugs.One day while going to the bank, i found two people ,almost naked,transfusing blood. That very moment i decided to call the police.But wait, to my shock, two policemen standing just a few metres away were laughing on seeing the two idiots transfusing blood.I knew there was no use calling the police.

Till date when i go to the class, i see people taking drugs!All of you must be aware of the celebrities who have been caught taking drugs.Fardeen Khan was caught when he was trying to buy drugs.On the international front,there's a long list of celebrities.Amy Winehouse,Pete Doherty,Kate Moss,Paris Hilton & Lindsay Lohan.Even the UN ambassador Angelina Jolie used to take drugs.But what they do is consume drugs and then move into Rehab. centres.Is it a joke? A few years ago,hundreds of college students were caught taking drugs on new years eve near Pune, Maharashtra. The new years eve is the time when drug mafia's and drug consumers enjoy.
The death of Anna Nicole Smith,her son at the age of 17 & Heath Ledger has sparked a row over the easy availability of drugs.Even the killing of Scarlett in Goa because of drug overdose a couple of months back has sent us a clear indication of danger.The buzz is that the Beijing Olympics will attract may mafias!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friends just take some time and think about this. 26% of Indian population is poverty ridden.They have difficulty in getting food,clothing & shelter.Still,they have enough money to buy drugs which is very expensive."They beg during day & consume during night".
People,come fight this demon in our society.If something is to be done,we have to unite!
