The Value of the Baugnian BAUG vs. the $USD decreased by 15% to come to $5.05 because of action taken by the CBB to decrease value by issuing 3,428,723,900 (to come to 2,301,428,723,900 BAUG) more BAUGs and by decreasing the amount of UNITS by 23,012,655,00 to 2,276,987,345,000.

The updated economic rates, according to the CBB, are:

Baugnian Government moves online presence

The Baugnian Government's old domain, www.ussbgov.org (which it used when it was the United Socialist States of Baugnia, hence the "ussb" in the name) is now no longer in use. Now the government is using www.baugnia.org. All government emails, websites, and web pages's addresses will remain the same URL, except that now instead of www.ussbgov.org/example-page it is www.baugnia.org/example-page. the domain http://ussbgov.org has been forwarded to www.baugnia.org, but the government workers cannot forward www.ussbgov.org to www.baugnia.org.

Baugnia 'Slaps wrists' of Mira-Derby for proposed violation of personal liberties

The Socialist Union posted threat of hard sanctions agains the Union of the Sovereign States of Mira-Derby for its proposed "Micro INTERPOL" database. The project would have collected the private information of citizens of all micronations, and stored them on a database. The Government of Baugnia said it would possibly enter into Diplomatic relations with Mira-Derby, a 'big win' for any nation, if the proposal was dropped entirely.

Mira-Derby has since appologized to Baugnia and to all others, and repealed the proposal.

CBB ends Communal Security programme

The Central Bank of Baugnia will end the Communal Security programme come the end of Febuary, 2008. The programme handed out money to citizens over 50 years, but required an annual tax of 3000BAUG. Users of the programme were informed six months prior to this press release, and are given control over the submitted funds.

Kapitolstadt, Baugnia- The Baugnian minister to the Union of North American Micronations stated the following in the UNAM comission today:

"Pardon me if you will, Excellencies, but I have a few questions and comments, if I may, although it might be too late to get any replies from Isoma.

"My first question is regarding Ashbourton's relations to Isoma, and Ashbournton's membership to the UNAM. Would not the membership of Ashbournton to the UNAN consequently also apply to the commonwealths in the form of the one vote that Isoma gets in the Ashbourntonian parliament? If not, how does Isoma have any ground on which to only be a commonwealth?

"My second question is regarding Isoma's oddly suspicious website. With all due respect, your Highness, your nation's legal voting age is 10 years? But then, just a few lines below that statement, there is another, saying that [i]under the laws of Ashbournton, citizens can be 16 years of age to vote[/i]. What preciously [b]is[/b] the voting age? What exactly is your average age of citizens?

"You also stated that your government is separate in governing from Ashbournton, yet they have a great deal of influence in your parliament. There is also only five new laws on the website, which looks like it has not been updated in some time. There also appears to be a law in act titled the "Annexation Act". Baugnia is not at all familiar with how your government or that of Ashbournton operates, but it appears that Isoma may withdraw from Ashbournton as they please, but this does not seem to be done, though you said "Hopefully Isoma will gain it's independence once more".

"If I may ask just one more question of your majesty, on the behalf of all that the UNAM stands for, and all of its members, What exactly is going on here? It appears that Ashbournton, however truthful they are, could have been trying to gain voting power in the UNAM by creating a fictitious nation, and making it become a member of the UNAM. I am by no means stating that this is what happened, but when the Committee for State Security 'connects the dots', this appears to be likely.

"May I request that a formal investigation be opened up by the UNAM into this issue? I assure you that the United Socialist States of Baugnia is already on this.

F.N.B.B. (First National Bank of Baugnia) Discusses lowering the value of the BAUG

He says that the lowe value of the BAUG, along with more of them, will help Baugnia's few struggling exporters make more money.

Socialist Union opens up investigation into potential terrorist and oganized crime group

The head of the Socialist Union's Committee for State Security (KGB), said that he is "opening up an investigation to research the potential for terrorism or organized crime directed at Baugnia and its Allies from a group calling themselves the 'Principality of Kaznia'.
"We have good reason to believe that this nation is working against our allies, and the UNAM, and by extension, ourselves. It is only a matter of time," he says "before they turn directly to harming Baugnians across the globe."

Therefore, they see that the best option they have now is to open up an investigation to analyse the threats comming from this group, and what ca, and should be done about them.

Baugnia Changed its Constitution and Political Organization

Intro:
After many long nights of scribling away at a seemingly endless pile of paperwork to add a single ammendment, or consult a single government department, the entire congress, consisting of the House of Law and Senatorial House of Law, and also the President and Supreme Court, the government decided to recreate the legal system, including governing authorities and the constitution.The new constitution gives the government more leverage when it comes to private corporate entities and properties. Also some branches of government have been changed.

For example, the two congressional houses have been compressed into one, which was renamed the Council of Ministers. Also the National Intelligence Agency was remade into the Comittee for State Security. The presidential and court officies will remain the same, but now, both the president and the Chief Justice are members of the Council of Ministers, and can oversee actions in all government departments, ministries, and subsidiaries.Most of the citizen's rights will remain the same, however. For the people of Baugnia, things are getting better by the minute.

What this means:
The new constitution, officially adopted January 16, 2008, defines the role of citizens, as well as gives them more rights. It also specifies what kind of businesses can be privately owned, and that the government has the highest authority over them, and the right to regulate them.

It also changes the ammendment process, making 3 separate offices approve an amendment before it is created, or dropped, and gives the Supreme Cout the power to bring to question any constitutional law or ammendment.

The Great Treaty of Kapitolstadt
PRELUDETo all to whom these Presents shall come, we the undersigned Delegates of the Nations affixed to our Namessaid greeting. The Treaty of Kapitolstadt and perpetual alliance between these states, the Socialist Federal Republic of Acadame North, and the United Socialist States of Baugnia. This treaty is Law for said Nations. All previous treaties between these Nations are also Law for Socialist Federal Republic of Acadame North and the United Socialist States of Baugnia. ARTICLE I: Limitations of Alliance
This treaty will limit the war-making power of each nation. One nation may not declare war unless the other approves, but each may carry out counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations as well as foreign political stabilization and intelligence gathering operations without the consent of the other. If one of said nations declare war, the other MUST join that nation militarily or economically, depending on what the needs of the war-making nation are. Neither nation shall be involved with slavery, or any work paid for by less than BAUG 0.50 per hour of labor. Nations may enter into other treaties with other nations, but must notify the other before the signing of said treaty, and there is no obligation by the other nation to also enter into the treaty. If any nation chooses to willingly break the alliance, it shall pay the other nation BAUG 100.00. If any of these limitations or those proceeding are broken by one nation, the alliance shall not be forfeited unless the other nation sees it the best choice, and neither nation shall pay a penalty.
ARTICLE II: Sovereignty & RecognitionEach Member retains its sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and every power, jurisdiction, and right, which is not by this alliance expressly ruled against. Each member of this alliance shall recognize the other as a legitimate, sovereign and socialist nation, independent from any other. ARTICLE III: UnionThe said Members hereby severally enter into a firm league of friendship with each other, for their common defense, the security of their liberties, and their mutual and general welfare, binding themselves to assist each other, against all force offered to, or attacks made upon them, or any of them, on account of religion, sovereignty, trade, or any other pretense whatever with exceptions as stated above. The nations shall also engage in the strive in cooperation to achieve the socialist dream of an equal and socialist world, united under a common flag, and to create a mighty Socialist Union. ARTICLE IV: Governance
Each nation shall retain their own individual means of governing, and shall retain full authority over their nation, except with limitations as described above and below, but the nations shall consult each other as prescribed above and in the proceeding. The authority each nation shall consult of the other shall be the President or Prime Minister, unless this authority has given another in his state this duty. ARTICLE V: Constitution/ Charter
Each constitution of the member nations of this treaty shall be respected in its corresponding nation, but not necessarily in the other. This treaty shall serve as the charter for this alliance. Amendments can and should be added to this treaty as time progresses. These amendments shall be made when both the consulting authorities of these nations agree to one. Each nation shall keep both a computerized and printed copy of this treaty, once signed, and add all future amendments to it for future reference.
ARTICLE VI: Voting
Each citizen or each nation shall have input into each nation in the form of a vote, at the discretion of the highest authority, at least once every decade.ARTICLE VII: LanguageThe languages of this alliance are English and German. New languages may be chosen as the alliance decides. APPROVED BY UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF BAUGNIA UNDER ITS CONSTITUTION, SCROLL OF FREEDOM AND LAW. APPROVED BY HIS GRACE PRESIDENT NICHOLAS. THIS DOCUMENT IS LAW WHICH MUST AND WILL BE OBEYED BY ALL MEMBER STATES. If this document's signing has been witnessed by a party, then it shall post an image of its coat-of-arms at the top of this page.
