New Apple Ingredient Discovery Keeps Muscles Strong!

Natural Component of Apple Peels Found To Help Prevent Muscle Weakening

In search of an effective method to prevent muscle wasting that comes with illness and aging, researchers have located a natural compound that is very promising.

The findings reported in the June issue of Cell Metabolism (a Cell Press publication), identify a natural component of apple peels known as Ursolic Acid as a promising newnutritional therapy for the widespread and debilitating condition that affects nearly everyone at one time or another.

"Muscle wasting is a frequent companion of illness and aging," explained researchers from The University of Iowa, Iowa City. "It prolongs hospitalization, delays recoveries and in some cases prevents people going back home. It isn't well understood and there is no medicine for it."

The research team first looked at what happens to gene activity in muscles under conditions that promote weakening. Those studies turned up 63 genes that change in response to fasting in both people and mice and another 29 that shift their expression in the muscles of both people who are fasting and those with spinal cord injury. Comparison of those gene expression signatures to the signatures of cells treated with more than 1300 bio-active small molecules led them to ursolic acid as a compound with effects that might counteract those of atrophy.

"Ursolic Acid is an interesting natural compound," they said. "It's part of a normal diet as a component of apple peels. They always say that an apple a day keeps the doctor away..."

The researchers next gave Ursolic Acid to fasted laboratory subjects. Those experiments showed that ursolic acid could protect against muscle weakening as predicted. When ursolic acid was added to the food of normal subjects for a period of weeks, their muscles grew. Those effects were traced back to enhanced insulin signaling in muscle and to corrections in the gene signatures linked to atrophy.

The subjects given ursolic acid also became leaner and had lower blood levels of glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides. The findings therefore suggest that ursolic acid may be responsible for some of the overall benefits of healthy eating.

"We know if you eat a balanced diet like mom told us to eat you get this material," the researchers explained "People who eat junk food don't get this."

It is not yet clear whether the findings will translate to human patients, but the goal now is to "figure out if this can help people." If so, they don't yet know whether Ursolic Acid at levels that might be consumed as part of a normal diet might or might not be enough.

Traceroute Command

Traceroute is a command used to see the path a packet travel from your computer to another. It will show you the list of all the routers it encounters on the way until TTL expires. It will tell you how long each 'hop' from router to router takes.

In Windows, select Start > Run> Type cmd and press enter. This will give you a window like the one below.

Type word tracert, followed by a space, then the ip addres/domain name of destination computer.

The following is a successful traceroute from a home computer in India to google.com:

Firstly it tells you that it's route to google.com, tells you the IP address of that domain(google), and what the maximum number of hops will be before it times out.

Next it gives information about each router it passes through on the way to its destination.

This is extremely useful when trying to find out why a website is unreachable, as you will be able to see where the connection fails. If you have a website hosted somewhere, it would be a good idea to do a traceroute to it when it is working, so that when it fails, you can do another traceroute to it (which will probably time out if the website is unreachable) and compare them. Be aware though, that it will probably take a different route each time, but the networks it passes through will generally be very similar.
It is generally recommended that if you have a website that is unreachable, you should use both the traceroute and ping commands before you contact your ISP to complain. More often that not, there will be nothing to your ISP or hosting company can do about it.

As a computer users we are very unfamiliar with the system we are interacting. To take a proper control over your horse you have to ride it from top. Same is the scenario with computer, if you have to take full advantage of your paid machinery you have to know it better. Below i am suggesting two tools which can help you to get better control over computer resources and use it efficiently and intelligently.

Group Policy Editor(Definition from wiki)
Group Policy refers to the system that controls what users rights are on a computer system, for example: to enforce a password complexity policy which prevents users from choosing simple password, to allow or prevent unidentified users from remote computers to connect to a network share, to block access to the Windows Task Manager or to restrict access to certain folders. A set of such configurations is called a Group Policy Object (GPO).

Group Policy aims to reduce the cost of supporting users. IntelliMirror technologies relate to the management of disconnected machines or roaming users and include roaming user profiles, folder redirection, and offline files.

Student models – primarily focussed on student and education sector use. These devices are focused on delivering the lowest cost solution for the target audience. There are two models here –

IS701R: A 7" screen size basic internet tablet that allows for seamless data downloads, Android 2.3 operating system and a full complement of ports.

If you are color lover, and loves to see lots of colors around your windows then this post is for you. In windows operating system we can customize windows according to our imagination just by changing the few settings.

1) Right click on desktop and select properties.

2) Navigate to Appearance tab.

3) Click on Advance button.

4) Select windows classic style from drop down list.

5) In the second drop down list we have many options.

6) Some of the options is to change font color, window border, window, title bars etc 3-D objects, message box etc.

7) Select the component you want to change appearance and select the color from the color drop down box on right.

8) Make all the changes and click apply then OK.

9) Window will appear with text “Please wait”. Once finished waiting Your new appearance will be rendered to you.

Secure your ADSL Modem(Internet Connection)

When we bring new ADSL modem for broadband connection to surf net, most of us leave a security whole in it, which can be exploited by some experienced surfer to get in your modem and hack your Internet connection. So don’t leave your boxes open to other guys to get in, Beware there are hackers in, once you enter the new world of internet out, of your box.

The good news is you can configure your adsl modems according tou you and making it tuff for other guys to get in.

1) The first step, which everybody takes is the security key, which is secure (can be breached) and its good habit to select ant strong key with combination of letters, numerals and special characters.(WPA recommended for home users)

2) Open internet explorer and type 192.168.1.1/10.0.0.1 whatever is applicable to your box in address bar.

3) Type username and password in the login dialogbox.

4) The default username and password of modem is printed on the packing material.

5) For BSNL users default is user:admin, password:admin.

6) The next step to make your internet connection secure is to change this password, because defaults are known to every experienced net surfer.

7) When you type your default username and password, Modem’s user interface will be presented to you.

8) Go through almost every option and see what it do. In case of any problems just reset the modem to factory settings.(BSNL people may not like it).

9) In the security section set the WAP key, and in the setting section change the default password of modem.

10) Now from your side you are safe. At least.
