The BC Goodie Bag is going on an indefinite hiatus. While I’ve enjoyed bringing you lots of treats for your eyes and ears, there are other projects in the works that need more of my time. We are looking for a new editor, and it may be that this site will be absorbed back into the Blogcritics mothership. I’ll keep you posted.

Langhorne Slim “Rebel Side of Heaven” video

Langhorne Slim’s eponymous album was released last month, and now the video for “Rebel Side of Heaven” is available. Blogcritic Artifact saw the band last fall and had this to say: “What sets Langhorne Slim apart from other groups is their great musicianship and affable camaraderie. They are a brotherhood of soul, grit, hard work, and passion. They bring that ethic every show.”

Bum Kon “Drunken Sex Sucks”

In 1983, Bum Kon recorded their only single, “Drunken Sex Sucks” (released by Local Anesthetic and recorded by Bob Ferbrache), which sold through two pressings at the time and now fetches up to $150 on eBay. Five songs appear on the single but twenty more were recorded at the same session. While working on mastering The Local Anesthetic compilation, Ferbrache found the master tapes with the remaining songs and different takes not used on the single, all of which are now available on one disc that costs a more reasonable $15 down at your local record store.
