Sunset Beach is the southernmost of the four barrier island beach in Brunswick County, North Carolina just above the South Carolina border. If you’re vacationing in Myrtle Beach, you might not even know of Sunset Beach or the other barrier islands of North Carolina.

That would be VERY unfortunate! Although these beaches ‘connect’ to the rest of what’s referred to as the ‘Grand Strand,’ it is a different world once you travel north across the SC/NC border and discover the beauty of the barrier island beaches.

What you WON’T find:

  • Miles of concrete high rise hotels along the beachfront!
  • Crowds!!
  • Traffic!!
  • Amusement parks, fast food joints, shopping malls.

What you WILL find:

  • Immaculate, wide, sandy beach!
  • Beautiful shells, scenery; beautiful sunrises, sunsets over the water and the dunes. (no hotels in your viewfinder!)
  • Over 2 miles of uninhabited shoreline, perfect for hiking or biking. (you can rent bikes at Julie’s right at the beach entrance)
  • Bird Island wildlife sanctuary.
  • A GREAT place to bring your entire FAMILY!
